(Are you ready?)
『Albert Griffiths is feelin' irie and he knows a thing or two about keeping a crowd properly locked into a one drop roots reggae groove. This French crowd is in fine spirits singing along to classics like Stick A Bush, Bellyful, and others from the roots classic Trenchtown Mix Up album. This show from 2001 when Albert was still fronting the band. Today I believe The Gladiators are touring with Albert's son carrying on the torch, which is great, but let's be clear that it is not the same Gladiators without Albert. Albert and his French fans show much love for one another. "Frappez les mains"!』

(Excellent dvd - this one is for all of the roots fans out there....)
『Fantastic dvd; this was filmed in France, and apparently the French know a thing or two about roots reggae. Excellent sound quality, and solid camera work as well. I first saw The Gladiators at the Bob Marley Festival this past February 07 in San Diego; I highly recommend that any true reggae lover buy this immediately!!! You won't be disappointed.』
『THE GLADIATORS LIVE IN PARIS was filmed on October, 22, 2000 at "L'Elysee Montmartre" in Paris, Track list: Intro, Head to my Toe, Hug me up, Bongo Red, The Belly Full, Look is Deceiving, Hello Carol, Jah Works, Something a Gwaan, Big Fish, Stick a Bush.』

(Betty at her best)
『I have always wanted to see Betty Buckley live, either on broadway or in concert. This dvd, Stars and the Moon is a must for any Betty Buckley fan.Betty is superb.....』

(What a waste)
『Betty's voice is still strong and beautiful but arrangements of most beloved songs are simply horrible.

If you prefer traditional versions this concert is not for you.

The quality of image and sound is very good.

Can be recommended only to hardcore fans.』

(A singer-actress)
『I gave the CD and DVD of Stars and the Moon to a friend, who is also a theater director at the University of the Philippines. He is the one who introduced me to Betty Buckley. We both watched it and have the same reaction towards the DVD. It is very touching and an emotional experience, especially for us who are fans of Betty Buckley. I first heard her Carnegie performance on CD and ever since became a big fan of hers. However, to see her perform is another experience. I must admit that some of the songs here are unfamiliar. However, Betty Buckley performed it in such a way that the songs are transformed into monologues. It is as if she is speaking to her audience. For instance, her take on "Stars and the Moon" is really definitive. Some would claim that Audra McDonald's version is the best. Having heard both version, on the audio alone, the bittersweet and irony of the song is perfectly delivered by Betty Buckley. She is a very relaxed singer. One could see that she does not only sing. The lyrics seem not memorized but appear to be thought spontaneously by the singer. She is a real storyteller on all those songs. This is highly recommended.』

(sometimes dvd might show too much.....)
『I love Betty Buckley... and all her incarnations. However, I have found myself enjoying this dvd with the tv off...
There are some garish close-ups that would be unflattering to anyone. Kenny is a wonderful musical director and pianist, but watching him 'get into it' is painful...at least the looks on his face are painful.

When you see her in concert, you are never 10 inches away from her face. The camera just keeps zooming and zooming,,, I want to watch it from the other side of my house.

Get the dvd. It is more complete than the cd release. There are some great new songs from wonderful new composers.』

(Betty Lynn...what more do you need?)
『I have to say that I do not agree with the other reviewer on this DVD. Betty is in fine voice and she knows how to deliver a song. I do have to agree that I too wish that there were more showtunes with the original Broadway arrangements. But Ms. Buckley is famous for making her own arrangements with songs. I enjoyed the instrumetnal introduction to "Meadowlark". This is a very good DVD to get if you are a die hard Betty fan. It is much better than the "Stars and the Moon" CD in that it contains that entire concert and that she seems to belt more on the DVD than the CD. (Or maybe that's just me.) If you love Betty, get this. If you just like her a little stick with her early CD's. And that's the bottom line!』
『Star of stage (Sunset Boulevard), film (Tender Mercies) and television ("Eight is Enough"), Betty Buckley sparkles in this intimate concert recorded live at the Donmar Warehouse in London, England. With a stunning repertoire, Ms. Buckley sings more than twenty popular classics from Lerner&Loewe, Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers&Hart, James Taylor, and of course her legendary "Memory" from the Broadway smash "Cats." Songs: Not a Day Goes By, Just the Way You Look Tonight, Come Rain or Come Shine, Come On Come On, Meadowlark, Answer Me My Love, Stars and the Moon, Migratory V/Horse with Wings, You're Nearer/If Ever I Would Leave You/My Funny Valentine, As If We Never Said Goodbye, Finding Home, Fire and Rain, Poet's Medley: Red Dress/Souvenir/Will There Really Be a Morning?, Old Friend, Send in the Clowns, Memory, Amazing Grace.』

(The Best DVD for any child you know)
『I bought these DVDs for my nephews and they loved them. My son, who is now 2, has been in love with these DVDs since 18 months. We will be lucky if he doesn't wear the DVD out. This is teh PERFECT child introduction to sports. If your child is like mine and enjoys sports, he/she will love this DVD. Our son has learned so much. I know give one of these DVD in the Tiny Tots Sports series to every child we go to a party for. We have received 100% positive feedback from the parents about how much thier child loves it and where could they get more. The best part has been watching my son run and kick the soccer ball and telling us what he is doing. He is picking up the basics about the sport while learning how to have fun! Thank you Tiny Tots.. you give my husband and I a good 30 minutes of fun and education for our son every day! I can't wait for spring so he can get outside and play again!』

(Kids love it)
『My kids (boy 3, girl 4) want to watch this all the time. They love the travels of Sammy the soccer ball. My wife says they ask kick the ball all the time. We now have one broken lamp. It's fun. I played soccer in college...and this is a great way to get them started.』

(YES)
『I "discovered" Joe Walsh through this dvd. Of course I'd heard him a million times growing up on FM radio, but seeing this live set of WALK AWAY blew my mind. I ended up buying a lot of his albums after that. That guy rocked, and to think I'd previously only associated him with the Eagles.

Deep Purple is always cool. My favorite video of theirs would have to be LIVE IN CONCERT 72, 73 - a Copenhagen show - vintage Purple with all their powers in full flower - the song on BEAT club is ok and in that era, doesn't reach what I've seen them do, but certainly is worth a look.

The Johny Winter is alright; the Old Grey Whistle Test performance "Frankenstein" ('73) is more exciting but this isn't bad by any means.

Nazareth's MORNING DEW is incredible. They were a different group at that time. I knew them from Hair of the Dog way back when, but this Nazareth while hard rock is more blues based and soulful than what I'd remembered them as in Hair of the Dog. This is a fantastic cut and one of the gems of this set in my opinion. Picking up their first album on which this song is supposedly, is next on my list.

Humble Pie's always a winner, though I've liked them better in other songs than in this cut of For Your Love. Still, u get to see a young Peter Frampton at work with the group. The over-priced 'Life and Times of Steve Marriott' has some excellent Humble Pie stuff with Frampton as well.

This DVD is a great watch, reasonably priced and well worth buying.』

(SIMILAR TO OOP BEST OF MUSICLADEN VOL 1)
『THIS IS IDENTICAL, EXCEPT FOR 3 VIDEOS DELETED, TO BEST OF MUSIKLADEN VOLUME 1. THE 3 MISSING ARE BY JETHRO TULL, BADFINGER&ALICE COOPER. THIS IS A MUCH BETTER VALUE THAN THE $65+ AMAZON SELLERS WANT FOR THAT DVD.』

(Well Worth the Price of Admission....)
『Let me start off by saying that the performances on this DVD are outstanding from the popular West German television show that aired from September 1965 through December 1972. "Psychedelia" in TV video editing carried over from the late 60's and was still "in" at the time of these performances (1970-1972). Unfortunately now, if you want to enjoy "viewing" the artists perform you may be a bit disappointed with some of these. The background effects tend to overpower the artist's performance at times (unlike the tracks on Vol.2 which have minimal Psychedelic images added and they are only a few). On the positive side, the extended songs on this color show are great and performed not long after being released. The following is a brief critique of each track (star ratings are based on the ability to view the artist through the special effects):

** Deep Purple - This is "Mk2" Purple at their peak. Gillan, Blackmore and company adlib their way through a classic number from "Machine Head".
4.5 Stars
** The James Gang - Joe Walsh and gang do one of their greatest songs. A little too much effect toward the end but still great.
4 Stars
** Johnny Winter - Great to see a rare TV performance of the great Texas bluesman. Rick Derringer is not in this line-up.
4 Stars
** Santana - The effects hurt a great song and performance.
3 Stars
** Procol Harum - Great song, great performance and "Robin Trower" before he left the group.
4.5 Stars
** Nazareth - Dan McCafferty&group perform a classic song from their 1971 debut album "Nazareth".
4.5 stars
** Free - Biggest disappointment. The effects completely take over the video. You get a few small glimpses of Paul Rodgers face and some quick edits of the other band members throughout one of the greatest rock songs of all-time.
3 Stars
** Humble Pie - The only track on this disc that has no added effects and you get to see each member perform. Steve Marriott, "Peter Frampton" (before he left to go solo) and company play a great acoustic number. Very reminiscent to an "unplugged" session.
4.5 Stars

Sound quality on all: 3.5 Stars
(not bad for an early 70's TV show)
No Bonus features.

Some tracks are slightly "chopped off" either in the beginning or the end but overall it's minimal. Although only 8 tracks, approximately 43 minutes in length but well-priced ($8.99 at the time of this review) you won't go wrong purchasing this classic early 70's rock disc.

『Rock’s legendary performers graced the stage of the famed television show Beat Club. Performing on television with no time limitations, these artists were able to pull out all the stops on, what today are, some of their most recognizable songs. This collection brings us back to a period between 1970 and 1972, when these songs began their path to immortality.

Tracklisting:
1. DEEP PURPLE - Highway Star
2. JOE WALSH - Walk Away
3. JOHNNY WINTER - Mean Town Blues
4. SANTANA - Black Magic Woman
5. PROCOL HARUM - Simple Sister
6. NAZARETH - Morning Dew

(Not Worth It)
『This DVD was a disappointment, as was Volume 2. I would not recommend it to those of us who love Rock 'n' Roll. The entertainers were fine, but I guess they were trying to imitate American Bandstand in some way. It really is a shame. (Highly recommended)
『Great teaching style for the talented beginner or intermediate player. Although there are a number of great blues licks and simplified chords presented, the emphasis here seems to be on elements of the music that can't be conveyed by tablature or a strictly verbal description. The advantages of developing an ear for the music as opposed to learning note by note becomes clear with repeated listening. Fleshing out the basic format of the songs with the alternative chords, simplified chords, licks and riffs reviewed seemed natural and easy. One of the strengths of this DVD is the selection of material. It ranged from Lightnin Hopkins to Blind Blake and varied in difficulty, complexity and speed. I have no problem giving this one 5 stars.』

(Kenny Sultan did it for me)
『I've dabbled with the guitar on and off for years but I never got beyond playing "House of the Rising Sun". I took live lessons for a while and tried lessons on CD but nothing really grabbed me until I bought Kenny Sultan's DVD. Being of beginner skill level I was intimidated by his songs at first but I liked his manner and presentation. Over the past year I'ver been able to translate 4 of his songs onto my own guitar ... which for me is quite an accomplishment. Kenny helped me discover that playing the guitar without years of traditional fingerpicking exercises is not impossible.』

(Poor instructional value)
『No effective use of close up's of fret or picking hand. Full speed, full song, without any useful breakdown of riffs. Look at Paul Lidel or Keith Wyatt DVD's if you want to see how guitar instruction should be done. This one is going back.』

(Kenny Sultan : Guitar Blues)
『I was amazed at the lack of teaching skills Kenny Sultan has.
He starts off the song at full speed, and then tries to teach you what he just did for about a second, and then goes back to almost full speed again. I did like the camera angles but that didn't help me a bit. I mostly disagreed with his comments reagarding what was cool and what wasn't cool. This DVD might be o.k. for an advanced player but not for an intermidiate and certainly not a beginner. I was so upset with the instructor's aditude that I am returning the DVD.』

(blues lesson)
『This is an excellent teaching tool for blues guitar - acoustic fingerstyle. Mr. Sultan grades the lessons from slow blues to fast-paced boogie to ragtime. He sensibly keeps it to 2 keys with the greatest concentration on E. I would say the lesson is best for intermediate players in that it helps to have a better than basic grasp of blues playing and the fingerstyle method. Mr. Sultan shares his knowledge of many standard licks and riffs which are easily transposed into other keys. There is a companion book which you probably can do without although it is helpful. notably with one or two of the turnarounds. I would certainly recommend getting the cd's West Coast Blues and Guitar Blues - not only because they are good within themselves, but listening to them is a great learning tool. The DVD does not require reading of tab or music and it helps to develop an ear. I am not all that familiar with a wide range of video/dvd teaching aids, but if you wish to move beyond folk style strummings to full blown solo playing, this is excellent. Not only that, but the wealth of licks that are taught will enable you to fit in to a blues jam and aquit yourself fairly well. It offers a very intimate teaching style that allows you to go at your own pace. Once you have practiced enough to get up to speed, you get to playing along with Kenny and even throwing in a few of your own licks. I really liked this. You can jam along to your heart's content. This is an excellent product that delivers. Mr. Sultan obviously is an experienced teacher and takes his time to walk you through each tune. Highly recommended. By the end of it you have a good toolbox of tricks and would qualify as a competent player. What I found from a personal perspective, was that these lessons introduced the concept of playing inside the chords and as such led on to a clearer understanding of swing and jazz styles.』
『Special features include: Multi-Camera angles for close-up viewing of left or right hand during lesson. Bonus performances. Audiophile quality sound recording. Full Motion menu and optional "performance only" viewing for a mini-concert experience. ALL REGION NTSC format.』
