『Maybe this is the older version, but there is no spanish track to this video.』

(It's Not 72 Minutes!)
『It's great for my son but it is NOT 72 minutes long like it said when I bought it. I was looking for one that was the longest because for 15 bucks you don't want only 30 minutes. Well i got 24 minutes instead of 72 minutes for $15. I suggest buying used because $15 for 24 minutes is a HUGE ripoff.』

(My 6 month old loves it!)
『It keeps her very entertained with colors, music, and sounds. Very educational and will definitely buy more from Baby Einstein!』

(Never to early to start with the Classics.)
『I think the Baby Einstein products are amazing. Why not start early letting your children watch and listen to something very worthwhile. My three year old grandson has graduated to Little Einstein and now sings all the classical melodies.』

(Pediatric Warning / TV May Cause Autism)
『Your child would love watching this video, but she'd also love eating cotton candy and drinking grape soda. Many pediatric and psychological studies have shown that young children know FEWER words for every hour they spend watching videos like this one. Why? Because they aren't spending time with YOU, practicing their language and social skills. There's also evidence that young children who watch TV have a greater risk of developing ADHD. Last, toddlers who grow up in homes with the TV always on in the background literally seem to have more trouble hearing themselves think. This hurts their developing linguistic abilities and consequently their abilities to engage silent reasoning.

Please protect your child -- don't let her watch any TV during her early, crucial, developmental years. We only watch TV when our little girl is asleep.

Update: France just banned TV programming directed at infants.

From the Associated Press:

updated 3:35 p.m. ET, Wed., Aug. 20, 2008

PARIS - France's broadcast authority has banned French channels from airing TV shows aimed at children under 3 years old, to shield them from developmental risks it says television viewing poses at that age.

The High Audiovisual Council, in a ruling published Wednesday, said it wanted to "protect children under 3 from the effects of television."

France's minister for culture and communication, Christine Albanel, issued a "cry of alarm" to parents in June about channels dedicated 24 hours a day to baby-targeted programming. In a newspaper interview, she called them "a danger" and urged parents not to use them to help their children get to sleep.
Story continues below advertisement

She was referring to two foreign channels that can be seen in France on cable television, BabyFirstTV and Baby TV.

The council's ruling aims to prevent the development of such programming on French channels. It also orders French cable operators that air foreign channels with programs for babies to broadcast warning messages to parents. The messages will read: "Watching television can slow the development of children under 3, even when it involves channels aimed specifically at them."

The ruling cites health experts as saying that interaction with other people is crucial to early child development.

"Television viewing hurts the development of children under 3 years old and poses a certain number of risks, encouraging passivity, slow language acquisition, over-excitedness, troubles with sleep and concentration as well as dependence on screens," the ruling said.

A recent study has found a worrying correlation between TV viewing and autism.

Source -- http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,222481,00.html:

Too much TV time for toddlers may trigger autism, according to a study by Cornell business professors.

Over the past few decades, there's been an amazing increase in the number of children diagnosed with autism. Some experts think this is due to broader diagnostic criteria for autism. Some point to vastly increased services for autistic children. Others think that something in the environment is triggering an autism epidemic.

It occurred to Cornell University management professor Michael Waldman, PhD, that the increase in autism cases came at the same time as increased opportunities for very young children to watch TV. Could it be, he wondered, that the explosion in children's TV programming, DVDs, VCRs, and video/computer games is behind the explosion in autism diagnoses?

Waldman asked his colleagues in the medical world to look at the issue. Nobody would. So he assembled a research team and did the study himself -- using tools more often seen in economic studies than in medical studies. The results bolstered his suspicions.

"We are not claiming that we have definitive evidence. But we have evidence that is awfully suggestive of a link between TV watching and autism," Waldman tells WebMD. "Someone should nail this down one way or the other."

Waldman will present the study at this week's National Bureau of Economic Research health economics conference.

What Raises a Baby's Risk of Autism?

Rain, Cable TV, and Autism

Autism is usually diagnosed when a child is about 3 years old. Any effect of TV watching would have to happen before that age. But few studies, Waldman found, have compiled statistics on the TV habits of U.S. toddlers.

But there are statistics, compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, on when families watch TV, and on how much TV they watch. These statistics show that toddlers watch more television when it's raining outside than when it isn't raining.

Waldman and colleagues then looked at county-by-county autism rates in California, Oregon, and Washington. All three states have huge regional variations in annual rainfall. Sure enough, Waldman found that autism rates tended to be higher in the rainiest counties.

"We ran the tests a number of different ways, and basically every way we run it, we get the same thing. If it rains more, autism goes up. If it rains less, autism goes down," Waldman says. "That is a fine theory by itself, but still one can't be sure it is TV and not some other indoor toxin that is to blame."

So the researchers did a second test: They looked at the percentage of houses that subscribed to cable television in California and Pennsylvania. Cable television, Waldman reasoned, was linked not only to more TV watching, but also to the availability of more programming for very young children.

Sure enough, they found that areas with the most cable TV subscribers had the most autistic children.

"Our view is there is no obvious thing correlated with both rain and cable TV access except television viewing," Waldman says.

Until more direct studies confirm or disprove this conclusion, Waldman and colleagues recommend that parents follow the American Academy of Pediatrician's recommendation of no TV before age 2, and no more than an hour or two of TV a day for older children.

『Discovering a rainbow of colors through art, music and poetry!
-- Introduces babies to six basic colors
-- Exposes little ones to famous Van Gogh masterpieces

For a growing baby, the world is like one huge masterpiece just waiting to be discovered. And as babies' eyesight develops, their ability to recognize and respond to colors makes their new discoveries all the more exciting! Baby Van Gogh presents little ones with a mesmerizing introduction to six basic colors: yellow, green, orange, purple, red and blue. Creatively incorporating the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh, together with original poems, beautiful classical music and the hilarious antics of an art-loving puppet, this vibrant voyage will transport you and your baby into an interactive rainbow of sights and sounds as you explore and celebrate this colorful, captivating, ever-changing world together!

DVD Features
-- Repeat play
-- Language tracks (Spanish, French and English)
-- Discovery cards
-- Puppet shows
-- Toy chest』

『The Baby Einstein Company's "video board books" were designed as music-focused developmental tools to stimulate babies' brains (prompted by research proving that exposure to classical melodies can improve verbal ability, spatial intelligence, creativity, and memory in youngsters). Now the company is expanding into other art forms, including color and art. The idea remains the same--taking bold, beautiful objects (toys, puppets, nature scenes) and setting them to fun renditions of classical music (their recordings are easily the best in the crowded field of child development). A new puppet--Vincent Van Goat--introduces the six primary colors and associates them with Van Gogh's paintings--"The Starry Night" for blue, "Wheat Fields with Reaper" for yellow. The only misstep is the poetry written and read by creator Julie Aigner-Clark, which is strongly reminiscent of Dr. Seuss'sMy Many Colored Days.

The company suggests the program is for toddlers between the ages of 1 and 4. Harsh sounds between segments--such as balloons popping and tires screeching--will draw the attention of youngsters but will probably render the video inappropriate for babes in arms. The video can be purchased by itself or with a beautifully produced 28-page book featuring Van Gogh's paintings, screen shots from the video, and Clark's poems. The combination set may be the best way to engage 3- and 4-year-olds' interest; they can follow along in the text while watching the video. Music includes "The William Tell Overture," "The Blue Danube," "Bolero," and Brahms's "Lullaby." The video also provides information on the cool toys seen in the ending "Toy Chest" segment.--Doug Thomas

『I saw this trio opening up for Dinosaur Jr in Chicago June 1st of 2007. Their sound blew me away...Unbelievable guitar riffs and the drummer was insanely great. Bought the CD after the set and it does not dissappoint. Cannot wait for the follow up. This CD is good but check them out live if you can.』

『Yes, as one reviewer put it on this page, this album is reminiscent of the Stooges. No matter, the album is very much listenable. Somehow, I got a feeling that this debut album is a prelude to something stronger and more substantial.』

(Secret Highlight)
『One of the better Disney Sing Along Songs videos, this video has a nice romantic atmosphere. It also has a nice change of routine. On previous videos, the main song was seen at the beginning, but here it is saved for the big finale- the right choice. That big finale is the amazing song "Colors Of The Wind" performed by the breathtaking singing voice of Pocahontas (Broadway star Judy Kuhn). The other Pocahontas song is "Just Around The Riverbend". Complimenting the video are "Why Should I Worry?" (Oliver&Company), "Higitus Figitus" (The Sword In The Stone) and the Cinderella work song (previously seen on an earlier Sing Along Songs video).

A Secret highlight is the new Disney chorus versions of "Little Wooden Head" from Pinocchio and the brilliant "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" from The Lion King. These are not the original versions from the films, but alternative ones, and I hope you'll agree that they are so much better.』

(What?)
『is green with envy by professor ludwig von drake in this movie?
i remember it being in here but no reviews have it listed...』

(Song Listing)
『I wished Amazon had listed the songs on this video to help in selecting which sing along tape to buy. I got this one and liked the Lion King DVD better. Here's a list of songs: 'Just around the river bend' Pocahontas; 'Cinderella work song', 'Why should I worry' Oliver&Co. (Billy Joel), 'Little Wooden Head' Pinocchio, 'Can you feel the love tonight' Lion King; 'Higitus Figitus' Sword in the Stone,&'Colors of the Wind' Pocahontas.』

(Some great songs!)
『There are some good songs but most of them are a waste of time. I Saw this video. This is the perfect video for my mother's friends baby.』

(Put a smile on your child's lips and a song in your heart.)
『There is no denying that Disney makes the best childrens' movies and videos. Their collection of "Sing-Along Songs" videos is a perfect addtion to anyones movie collection, both young and old. The wonderful part about the "Colors of the Wind" video is that they have videos of songs from several different Disney movies on it, as well as two songs from Pocahontas (Just around the river bend&Colors of the Wind). There are songs from Cinderella (Cinderella Work Song), Oliver&Company (Why should I worry?), Pinocchio(Little Wooden Head), the Lion King (Can you feel the love tonight), and the Sword in the Stone (Higitus Figitus). I orginally bought the video because I collect Disney movies. I have a newphew who is a year old. At nine months I thought he was too young to pay attention to TV, though he seemed to like music. One day while he was being extra fussy I put the video on hoping the music would calm him. He immediately quieted down and began watching the video. He now watches it several times a day. He smiles, laughs and dances when we put it on. It's a pleasure to see the enjoyment he gets from the video. It's funny, but he isn't the only one who loves it. His grandparents watch it with him and we've caught them around the house singing the songs from it. I'd recommend this video to anyone.』
『Sing, dance, and play along with your favorite Disney songs! It's fun and easy as you read the on-screen lyrics and join your favorite characters in their most memorable musical moments! Celebrate the music and learn your favorite songs from Disney's 33rd animated hit, POCAHONTAS. This colorful musical celebration includes "Just Around The River Bend" and "Colors Of The Wind," plus a new "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" montage from THE LION KING, "Cinderella Work Song," and other popular Disney songs performed by your favorite Disney characters!』

(Biscuits? More like crumbs..)
『Dunno what went wrong here. I suppose the suits at the record company figured these tracks had been paid for so they might as well get some money for 'em. Which is fine for the boys at Sony but they didn't do the boys in the band any favours foisting this stuff onto their fan base, the only thing being achieved her is the diminishing of the bands sterling track record to date.

To specifics;
Track 1: Talkin' Lound and Sayin' Nothing. This is pretty cool and easily the best track here. And a cover version. Luckily LC have enough individuatlity to make it their own.
Track 2: Desperate People (live). There were bonus live tracks pegged onto the end of Times Up. Perhaps there is enough live material for a live album floating around. My call - they would of been better servied putting out such a live album. This isn't a bad run though of a cool early LC number.
Track 3: Love and Happiness. Another cover. Skid Row, Yngwie Malmsteen and Metallica amongst others have all put out cover albums. If LC were that way inclined I'd have preferred that this mish-mash EP. Not that this is horrid or anything. It just doesn't grab you.
Track 4: Memories Can't Wait. Cool LC song. Not a huge fan of the live album etc myself, but this tune is kinda cool. Another cover, but it feels more like theor own stuff due to having been on their debut.
Track 5: Burning of the Midnight Lamp. Vernon Reid was always unfairly compared to Jimi Hendrix. Only because he was black and liked feedback. It was so unfair to Reid who always had his own guitar stamp. But given those unfair comparisons picking a Hendrix song to cover was perhaps not the smartest move. Still, supposedly the boys were fans and the song has an open structure well suited to LC's mode of operation and they do an interesting job.
Track 6: Money Talks. An unreleased Reid track from the Times Up sessions. Not essential but it's their own tune and shows a third option for what this release could of been - ie if not a covers EP or a live EP then a 'leftovers' album as per Steve Vais Flexible Leftovers release.

And that pretty much sums up this '91 stopgap release. Not worth your dollar unless your an LC fanatic. Which I was at the time which is my excuse.』

(where's the rest)
『As a few others have said the Japanese version of this is the one to get - that has 15 tracks and the additional 9 are an absolute sensation with a lot of rare and brilliant live and studio tracks: some of their best work even, which is a little tragic it never got major release.

This EP however, in it's own right and if you can't find the Japanese one is a great little record. Coming after the Brilliant Times up and before Stain which was a complete generation jump this one sort of bridges the gap a little as it took Living colour - particularly with the incredible version of 'Burning of the midnight lamp' - being something less conventional than their work in the past but utterly enjoyable.

The rest of it is pure class, Old Living Colour live stuff is legendary and the rest of the songs are good.

But for sure it's 9 songs short of being one of Living Colour's greatest ever works.』

(Shame on EPIC records)
『The Japanese version has 15 tracks, most of which are live. I had the short version t'll I was travelling and came across the import version. Don't buy this one. Seek out the Japanese version with all of the tracks.』

(Wretchedly Excessive....In The Best Possible Way!!!!)
『A decade later, this EP still burns my ears! The whiplash roar of Vernon Reid's guitar is the dominant sound on this release, and to some listeners it may sound like overkill, but a little overkill can be a blessing sometimes! The scorching, wildly metallic version of "Memories Can't Wait" is downright frightening and a testament to the raw, wall-rattling power these guys generated in concert. This type of power should be harnessed, I'll bet we wouldn't have an energy crisis then!

"Talkin' Loud And Sayin' Nothin'" starts well (the band grooves quite well) but gets a little clumsy at the breakdown, and Lead vocalist Corey Glover pretty much butchers Al Green's "Love&Happiness" though the band locks into a walloping stomp that sustains the song well enough. The real star of this show is drummer Will Calhoun who delivers an astonshing solo on the closer "Money Talks" and drives the song at such a furious pace he almost seems to be channeling Elvin Jones! This song must be heard to be fully appreciated. All in all, this is a great release and can stand right along with the other great Living Colour releases of the early 90's.』

(It's a 3, which means it's ok.)
『I liked the song "Pride" from the JPop 2 album. I bought this album to get a better feeling of the artist. The songs are ok. There is some hard driving rock in this album.

There are also some soft periods in this album, also. I still have a lot to listen to get a better feel. But, nothing or not much is as spectacular as the "Pride" song.

If you want to buy, you probably have a 60/40 percent chance of enjoying it.』

(Good J-Pop)
『I also bought this because I heard their Ichirin No Hana song on the opening credits of one season of Bleach.

Not always as driving/hard/intense as I was hoping, but it's good, solid music that occasionally dips from just rock into hard and driving. The female vocals are more j-pop-like. The male vocals, when they come through, are more likely to be yelling or screaming rock/metal, which I like.

Although the CD was not as overall hard as I had hoped, I am happy with it and enjoy listening to it. =)』

(Rock 'n' Roll)
『Great band. I first heard their music when watching the anime series "Bleach". The hardest J-pop music I've heard so far, they have vocals similar to Evanescence with music similar to Stabbing Westward and other rock bands. (Best album of the 90's?)
『I won't say this is without a doubt the best album of the 1990's, but for my money, it's GOT to be a nominee. Living Colour caught my ear with their fantastic debut "Vivid", but they made me a lifelong fan with this 1990 followup. While "Vivid" was a collection of great songs, "Time's Up" is a full blown artistic statement. After the surprise success of "Vivid", it would have been too easy for them to make "Vivid II" and watch the cash continue to roll in, but instead they kick off this second release with a speed-metal thrash style song (the title cut) played at the speed of light with strong lyrics that echo the immediacy of the music in this track. Wow. This is not your "MTV" Living Colour. Which is not to say there aren't some downright catchy songs here: the playful R&B cut "Love Rears Its Ugly Head" will stick in your head, as will the African flavored "Solace Of You" and several heavier sounding tracks like "Elvis Is Dead" and the lead single "Type".

But the strength of this cd isn't the "rock" songs or the "r&b" songs or the "thrash" approach or any one song or set of songs, it's the fact that the band mixes and blends so many musical styles on one album that still manages to be cohesive as a whole. Take for example the closing "This Is The Life", a very heavy Zeppelinish-sounding track, but the lyrics are very Eastern, so the band gives us a very eastern-flavored intro and outro that really completes the song and gives it that authentic feel that few bands can match, past or present. A few tracks are segued by short instrumental bits that only add to the diversity of this album, yet like great albums from the likes of Queen or The Beatles (who were also very diverse musically), the album still "flows". It's the last album I can think of where I like every single moment of every single song...

And don't let the diversity of what Living Colour does here scare you! Fans of the hard hitting "Cult of Personality" from their debut will still find plenty of songs rooted in good ol' fashioned hard rock here, but there is SO much more as well. So on this one, all I can say is BUY IT if you don't have it, and when you listen, expect the unexpected!』

(Eclectic)
『This is Living Colour's most eclectic cd's. It explores it's african american influnses on some songs and on others they totally rock out.』

(Awesome)
『The best African American rock band of all time. No further comment needed. Every rock fan must have all albums from Living Colour.』

(truly exceptional band and CD)
『I consider this CD to be Living Colour's masterpiece and one of my all time favorites, one of my "desert island top 10 must haves."

In my opinion, it is the total package...it has jaw-dropping musicianship and musical execution, exquisite song crafting, near perfect sound production and mixing, tasty song order placement and mood shifting, legendary musical guests,(I'll go on...), strong and (STILL) relevant lyrics, all rapped up in one CD when the band was at the top of their game.

It seems to me that the band put forth a ton of soul, time, and brain power in producing this record, and feels like they wanted to use their new found fame to get the truth out to the mainstream (white) kids who came to the shows. (me included)

I'm 41 now and CANNOT help cranking this up all the way through when listening while driving, one of the few recordings that can still get me geeked after MULTIPLE listens over 17 years now.

A gift to the world of MUSIC (screw genre) by one gifted and special band.』

(Baby loves it)
『Good for baby so that's all that matters. Enough said on how I feel about it.』

(Baby Bop makes a number 2, and other delights)
『This is a cute video. My son is a little young for it to hold his attention the whole way through, but he enjoys the singing and dancing a lot.

It should be said that the title and packaging are a bit misleading. It's not really about counting. Rather, there's an actual storyline involving a Mary Poppins type character named Stella losing her clock numbers in her travels. Barney and his pals help search for them, ending up at the library. There, they read books and act them out as characters in the stories. It's much more a plug for reading than for math, but it is fun.

I was pleasantly surprised at my son's enjoyment of the video. He likes the Spanish track, too. Fine for the little ones in the house.

(not very educational)
『I am giving this 3 stars because my son loves Barney, and they are the only dvds he pays attention to. But this video was a big disappointment. He will not learn anything from this. There is not nearly enough attention placed on numbers to have labeled this a counting dvd. If you are looking for something to help teach your child to count, try Meet the Numbers from Preschool Prep. It lacks the appeal of Barney, but they'll learn to count in no time.』

『I had this video for all three of my kids and they loved it. My youngest watched it so much that my VCR finally ate it so I purchased this DVD. Very educational and fun to watch.』
