IPhone 3G used's review (Nice DVD intro to Sarah Vaughan) 『Great intro into the life and art of one of the greatest vocal artists of jazz... If there were a bit more jazz and a bit less life I would be even more pleased (and the customer who complains about the quality of the recording is not completely of the point), but still, if you're a sassy fan, don't miss on this one...』
(Sassy. . . .) 『This DVD of Sarah Vaughan provides a good overview of "The Divine One's" life and music. To be honest, it does leave you wishing it were longer, but there are some impressive clips of her in concert (including some rare 70's footage of her brilliantly accompanying herself at the piano as a guest of Dick Cavett). With a voice that approached operatic proportions, Sarah Vaughan lived with as much gusto as she sang. It is also interesting to see how much Sarah Vaughan's life and music compares and contrasts with that of her contemporary, Ella Fitzgerald, who was the only other jazz singer of the same era who possessed as great a musical gift. Amazingly, Vaughan ate copiously, drank, smoked, partied hard--activities that would normally kill a voice well before its time. Yet she STILL retained her magnificent instrument! If anything, I swear she got better with age--I caught one the last performances before her death in New York City at the infamous Blue Note!
This bio also features the requisite interviews with friends, musical peers and family (her mother and only child, her daughter Paris, are also notably featured). While "The Divine One" clearly leaves you wanting more, it is still a great collector's item--a bird's eye view of one of the two greatest jazz singers--the other of course being Ella Fitzgerald--of the 20th century. 』
(Sassy' voice did not deserve to be butchered...) 『I'm sorry to say this: THIS DVD SHOULD NEVER HAD BEEN RELEASED. If you notice they call it a videocassette in the inital copy warnings, twice... Video quality is pretyy much NTSC VHS.
I'm a great fan of Sarah since 1973, when I heard her, at the Cascais Jazz festival, weeping and apologizing for a failure that occurred in the sound system, and own 13 LP's of her great art. All of them sound better that the Dolby crap on this DVD, including above all the "Mono" Mercury with Clifford Brown. The 1978 "How Long has this been going on" is a treasure..
Sarah Vaughn is to be heard and to TO BE FELT. This DVD contains too little music, too much babbling, no PCM Audio, no Subtitles.
It is pure exploitation and BMG should be ashamed of publishing it. If there is no better video/film footage of Sarah available anywhere, do no publish any video, leave us blind. I'm only sorry for the earing impared, but what can I do?...』
(The Divine One - says it all) 『I have loved this video-biography of Sarah Vaughan, from the day I first viewed it. I have two copies on VHS and one on DVD. If I have to fault this video, it is that the live performance clips are far too short, leaving you wanting more. They offer nothing more than a tantalizing glimpse of Sarah Vaughan's musical genius.
By far my most favourite excerpt is "The Shadow of Your Smile". This live performance outdoes any other recording I have ever heard by another artist and even outdoes Sarah Vaughan's studio recording with Mercury Records. I wish I could obtain the complete performance of this live rendition.
It sounds trite I know, but this is a must have for any self-respecting Sarah Vaughan fan.』
(MY IDOL..MY MENTOR... Sassy Sarah) 『This DVD retains the life of Sarah in the presence of audiences worldwide. Notice how smooth she appears and how graceful she is as she performs. SMOOTH as fine chocolates and wine! Sass' vocal range is well over the five octaves found on a 88-key piano! What a fine singer Sarah (Sass) Lois Vaughan was. Sass will always be my idol and mentor forever in spirit; she is well missed. And, this DVD highlighting the Divine One's life from start to end is a long-lasting treasure for those (like me) who adored Ms. Sarah Lois Vaughan known also as Sassy Sarah. This is from a fan forever. **Angie**』

She is just amazing, her singing, her playing of the organ. It is just amazing to see someone with a true gift from God so musically inclined. Nothing to Lose with The Clark Sisters is awesome. This video is so crazy it's hard to explain in words. So order it now.』
(Twinkie and this choir are a blessing to the eyes and ears!!) 『If you love to see young people work for the lord, you'll love what Twinkie Clark-Terrell has done with this choir. There's is also a soul stirring performance by Twinkie and her sisters. Listen, enjoy and be blessed!!!!!!!!!』

(Awesome worship experience) 『We've already heard the CD played numerous times on the radio. Well, the visual experience is even better! The worship is awesome and God gets all the glory. The DVD's extended version of "Blessed" will usher you right into the presence of the Lord. Also, I can't watch "All Things" without going into a tear filled praise. I highly recommend this DVD. It's a must have for those who want to worship in Spirit and in truth.』
(For those of you who can't see Fred&Co. in person...) 『I recommend this DVD for those of us who can't see Fred and RFC live in concert! I am a black American migrant in Sydney, Australia and what I miss most is being able to praise the Lord in the atmosphere I was raised in, the black American "get-down and roll down the aisle prasing the Lord" !
I found that this DVD captures Fred&Co. at their best. I suggest you find a favorite place to sit and praise in front of the TV or PC, (my choice), and take it all in. The songs range from soft praise to all open "Holy Roller Worship". A must have for the Fred Hammond&Radical for Christ!』
(Truly a blessing) 『This video was a real blessing to me. I purchased this video with great anticipation and I got exactly what I paid for. If you are a fan of not just Fred Hammond, but also of praise and worship, you'll thoroughly enjoy this special video. My song preferences for this video are.... every last one if them!』
(Even on tape it's "LIVE") 『Recently saw Fred&RFC. All of the artists on the tour were great, (including Yolanda Adams) but when Fred walked out on stage you could feel the difference. What an anointing on that brother! It filled the house. Trust me, it transfers over to the video. What Fred has done to "urbanize" Praise and Worship is awesome. Then again, don't trust me. See for yourself. No one on the gospel music scene today comes close to what Fred is doing. Brother Fred, keep 'em comin'!』

He mentions some of the scales he is going to play but that is where the instruction pretty much ends. Robben is a great player and entertaining to watch, but if you want to learn to play like him, you will be disappointed.』
(Not for beginners, but good to see...) 『This DVD has some good technique, but it is definitely NOT for beginners. There is very little "instruction" in the video; some insight to the chords and scales played. The video is more of a "one man sitting in a chair concert" than anything else. Some of the "songs" played are WAY too long. However, if you want to see a guy that can REALLY play and do it effortlessly...Robben Ford is it. This video picks up on his previous video, so I would reccomend taking a look at that before buying this if you are a beginner.』 『The Blues&Beyond reveals Robben's advanced concepts for improvising and comping. Performing his well-known renditions of several blues classics, Robben demonstrates how he plays over chord changes. Robben also discusses phrasing and playing "outside" using pentatonic, diminished, and melodic minor scales. Check out the "Miles Groove," where Robbem plays a great solo combining blues, bebop, and modern "out" lines. And to help you capture Robben's unique style, most of the solos, chords, and playing demonstrations have been transcribed in the music and tab book included.』

(another entry level dance video) 『Here is another Mason production that is fine for the super beginner. Dance steps/figures are very basic. The teacher is pleasant, easy to hear and likable.
The purchase price is nice on the budget but the material taught is also very limited. I think that her movements and methods are geared toward the older less physically active dancer.
A serious student should consider spending a bit more for the extensive figures in any of the dvida syllabus videos. Each has anywhere from 10 to 30 figures. The american tango bronze syllabus, for example, has 15 figures and is 145 minutes long.
If our want to order a comparably priced video to the one reviewed here and you are new to dance, I recommend the videos featuring Kasha Kozac and her partner...I forgot his name...
overall Ms. Mason's instructional films seem best suited for the less active, new to dance, over 40 crowd.
good luck and happy dancing

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Amazing Discoveries) 『Actually I bought this one because I'm addicted to well shot Tortoise live performance videos. This one is the best I've seen so far. Apart from that for me - living far away from the US - this DVD presents a living and vibrant potrait of the music being made in this country which I can't find so easily over here (Germany). Saying that I really found a new favourite in the Tight Phantomz but also the more or less one dimensional performance of Shellac is a real ear catcher. The other tracks are a bit too much folk and country oriented - not my absolute favourites but still new and interesting.
The camera team really did a great job in banning the fantastic atmosphere on film during the performances. The sound of the this DVD I think is much better than on the BTS 1. Enjoy listening and watching. 』

Usually,a documentary you've been waiting for like this ends up becoming a disappointment. However, this DVD not only contained footage that represents F2F the best, it was everything i'd hoped it would be. Produced very well. Mixed nicely. Lotsa live footage including "1000 Times." Touring, videos, interviews. Adrenaline! Kids-- put down the Blink album! Throw it out the window. I have shown you the light. Face to Face.』
(For the Fans) 『A must have for any Face to Face fan. Nuff said!』
(Well done) 『This DVD is well produced. You definitely get to see the history of the band through their own eyes. They have a knack for telling stories, and giving insight into the band. Clearly all of them have a good sense of humor. The DVD is well organized; it has a chapter menu that allows you you to jump around to different sections, and it also has a video section at the end. One of the coolest parts is the rare footage - from Milo of the Descendents singing Bikeage with them at the Warped tour to Scott's first show with the band. A must have for anyone who is a face to face fan, or anyone who is suppose to do a history of a band documentary - its a good model to follow.』
(Well done) 『When one hears "punk video", I am sure they expect shoddy hand held camera footage and self agrandizing nonsense. Not here. This is a well thought out and well edited video that really gives insight into each of the members personalities. It has well divided chapters (great chapter menus) not just "play movie"! I learned alot from this video. It is a great addition to any collection』
(If Only there were more punk rock DVDS) 『This is a very good video for any punk rock fan who likes to be able to re-live their concert experiences in the comfort of their home. This like most other music dvds is a mix between documentary and live footage. There is a lot of concert footage, but a couple of the songs are cut off midway through and that is my only complaint, other than that it is a very well put together dvd』
