IPhone 3G used's review (Great DVD, Wonderful Teacher!) 『I found this DVD in a store and decided to give it try. I think I already had a Kundalini dvd of Ana/Ravi's and though I have enjoyed learning Kundalini from that dvd as well - it is definitely much more intense and fast-paced than this one. This dvd from Gurutej is paced a bit more slowly and is great for any day, though especially good for beginner's or if you are not feeling as energetic. There are definitely a few moves/exercises which are more demanding and faster paced as well - so this in not a relaxation dvd per se. Shes gives explanations as to how the moves impact and benefit particular lymphs, glands or body systems. Breathwork and chanting is also well incorporated. She is very uplifting and adds humor to the her descriptions, while also having a calm and peaceful demeanor. My primary yoga experience has been in Hatha yoga which I also love, but have really enjoyed becoming acquainted with Kundalini yoga, most particularly since buying this dvd from Gurutej. A very positive experience!』
(Awesome Yoga Video!) 『I love this video and this yoga teacher. She seems totally dedicated to yoga and to helping people feel peaceful, strong, and healthy. Her approach is really sweet, even if some find her a bit flaky. I think I have all her tapes, and they are all really good.』
(very healing!) 『i have dozens of yoga tapes. rodney yee, patricia waldman, suzanne deason, etc. kundalini is very different from these. i also like gurumukh's dvd from gaiam... but it is way more intense and challenging. gurutej's approach is very gentle and yet profound and she's very funny and encouraging. i have all of her dvds and LOVE all of them! i have an ongoing immune system disorder and whenever i do these dvd's i feel instant relief and so much better. thank you gurutej! please make more dvds!
』
(Thank-you Gurutej!) 『This was my first introduction to Kundalini yoga. I have done yoga off&on for over 25yrs. I have back problems&was a bit concerned, hearing about twisting&fast moves. The twists are gentle and the moves are smooth. Gurutej Kaur is fantastic. I was kinda 'put off' at first, seeing a turban on the cover. I have alot of stress going on,&am quite open to new ideas of ways to relax. This woman is vey real,&I was surprised what a 'people person' personality that she has. A wonderful sense of humor, between some of the seriousness of the moves. I am also 'picky' to voice quality. Her voice quality is very good&the music is excellent. I'd love to find out where her music came from, it's so relaxing&nice. After doing her dvd, I only want to find more of her classes. I never knew about Kundalini yoga, I love it.』
(Check out more reviews on her Chakra Yoga for Mental Clarity DVD) 『She talks about meridians a lot&some of the movements looked like Qi Gong movements I've done&seen before. They all seemed simple when she talks about it&then takes concentration to do. This one is even easier to do then her Mental Clarity one. If you aren't into Qi Gong or sensitive to energies to the point you notice them consciously, you may not feel the effects enough to feel the benefits since the exercises are so easy. There are some good stretchig such as some chair pose, warrior one pose&fast light twisting added among other thing, but most are very subtle. She is alone in a simple room with flowers&rug nearby&has a sweet voice. Between each movement there is artwork&written is the name of the next one. The beautiful artwork I was suprised to learn in the credits was created by her. I took off one star because in between each move, she sits in another place, telling you for up to 2 min what each move is going to be, how it's done, what it's good for in terms of the body, mind&spirit. I wish she could have given some of this information as you are actaully doing the moves so you don't get a bored. At the end is a quiet sitting meditation&then also she plays singing bowels&a gong lightly for a laying down meditation for a few minutes. 』 『Master instructor Gurutej Kaur presents a complete program to unleash the lifegiving forces from within. This complete practice for the charkas provides 15 guided exercises that combine movement, breath work, and chant to relax the body and emotions, refresh the lymphatic system, and invigorate the vital organs to elevate immune function.』

I have to also say I am really digging Hotel Hotel Tara 2 : The Intimate Side of Buddha-Lounge now as well...』
(one of the best) 『Not a disappointing track on the CD....all mellow, rhytmic, mesmerizing, but not too heavily techno, which a lot of this type of music turns out to be.. .. which is ironically, a bit unorganic for the type of mood that is being marketed. Varied enough to hold your interest, but the individual tracks flow nicely into and out of one another. If you like to de-stress withhout the far out space music that frankly puts me to sleep, you should enjoy Yoga Salon』
(An exotic and colorful collection of quiet songs.) 『I have really enjoyed what comes from the Sequoia Records label. The "Hotel Tara" label is my favorite release so far but "Yoga Salon" is a close second with a quietier but more exotic flavor throughout the collection. One of my favorites is "Swan" with a slow but beautiful rhythm and gray-sky evening mood and "After the Dance" by David Gordon which is a beautiful mix of jazz, rock, and New Age. This is highly recommended.』
(Yoga Salon Exotically Enchanting) 『Yet another supremely sublime release from the Sequoia Groove label. I loved their recently released Hotel Tara and this release is as great, if not even better, with more sensationally serene and spicy Indian-flavored downtempo/chill-out tracks from Artemisia, Jaya Lakshmi, David&Steve Gordon and an array of great new artitsts. I esapecially love"Nama Sankirtana (Yoga Mix)" by Wynne Paris with vocals from Kim Waters of Rasa. This release covers a wide gambit of moods, from smooth and sultry to the up-beat and inspiring with a healthy infusion of sitar, tabla, sarod and other exotic eastern insturmentation mixed with some incredible European backroom electronica back beats. I see this CD having a lot of uses, from relaxing, to doing Yoga or just hanging out with friends and socializing. Yoga Salon really does it up right.』 『Slip into the most mystical chill-out lounge you can imagine. Enter into the salon and connect with inner wisdom as East meets West in this sublime set of blissful grooves hand-selected and mixed exclusively by the Gordon Brothers (creators of the original Buddha-Lounge and Café de Luna series). In the salon tonight are an amazing line-up of the leading edge of the nu-India groove and exotic lounge luminaries. Ancient chants from India, a multi-cultural array of ethnic instruments, hypnotic world rhythms and a spicy mix of modern electronica weave seamlessly together, creating an elegantly divine mood. De-stress and relax with this definitive hip soundtrack perfectly suited for everything from enhancing your Yoga sessions to unwinding after work, dinner with friends or just any time you want to kick back and slow down.

Kids Musical Yoga
Usually ships in 1 to 2 months IPhone 3G used's review (A little weird and disappointing) 『I agree with a previous reviewer that Yoga Kids (vol 2) is far better than this series of yoga videos for kids. I found this series (Kids Musical Yoga Lets Go To The Ocean/Jungle) to be disappointing. I like the original music and found myself singing the tunes later (any may consider getting the CD). But there was very little yoga - maybe 6 poses or so (and odd ones at that). There was a lot of talking, way too much talking, by the instructor who had a condescending manner or was just a little weird.
This video had potential if it has way more poses and songs, and way less talking.』
(Really Feel Cheated) 『I ordered this video and Yogakids at the same time. Kids Musical Yoga is pretty much just a sing along. The children get to do almost no yoga at all. It is especially misleading since the cover shows a girl in the tree pose. When the video was over, I thought that was just the introduction and that the REAL video would start soon. It is a complete scam.
Meanwhile, Yogakids is a fabulous video with real yoga poses, footage of real animals and a wonderful explanation of how to use the poses in our real lives. My 2 1/2 year old loves it. I recommend Yogakids as an excellent alternative to this non-yoga video.』
(Can't pull kids away) 『Our children have been captivated by Kids Musical Yoga for an entire year - the jungle is their favorite! They love singing along and learning the poses. They also enjoy incorporating the yoga and music into their daily lives - singing along with the CD on car trips and recreating the poses in their room. It teaches sharing, breathing, exercising and musical development. WE LOVE KIDS MUSICAL YOGA!』
(The Wayne's World of Yoga) 『Ai yi yi. My kids (3 1/2&2) actually really liked this DVD, even though they weren't interested in participating themselves. Maybe it is because they had never seen actual mental patients before? I am hoping that I can grin and bear it so that I can get them to start doing the movements as well, but I might need a lobotomy first.』
(Dishonest Run Time Info...Why Lie?) 『As a consumer, I feel cheated because I paid for a video that was advertised as 35 minutes run time, but this DVD&"Let's Go to the Ocean" is actually only 25 minutes including beginning&end credits. That's a big difference for such a short video. The 35 minute run time is printed on the DVD jewel case&on the DVD itself. I went on "kidsmusicalyoga.com"&sent an e-mail asking for an explanation or even an apology, but my e-mail was ignored. As far as the content of the video, my kids do like it for the songs which are catchy for pre-schoolers. However, I was disappointed by the lack of actual activity/yoga/exercise the video asks of the kids. It's more of a sing-a-long video...I was just expecting more movement. I just want to give other moms a "heads up" so you know what you're paying for&aren't disappointed.』 『Kids Musical Yoga: "Let's Go to the Jungle" September 2004. 30+ minutes of stimulating music, enriching lyrics and concepts, and the relaxing uplifting experience of yoga. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Eclectic Mix of Soothing, Harmonious Music!) 『I saw Wai Lana on a PBS show for kids and Yoga where I got just a tidbit of her beautiful music, but enough to want to hear more. I came here to amazon.com and listened to every music sample on this CD- it hooked me! I was going to review this CD right off the samples, but thought I had better get the CD first in the remote chance that it was just too good to be true and there might be some less than desirable cuts- like so many other albums that are fluffed and salted with ho-hum fillers.
I needn't have worried about hearing the whole album before reviewing it. It is a soothing, beautiful, lofty, fine mix of several music genres, i.e., Oriental, Indian, Western light rock with some light vocals and nature sounds included here and there. Pardon this perhaps cliche' or cheeky comment, but it truly is uplifting, "feel-good" stuff!
As another reviewer intimated, it is not repetitive and linear like many other meditative music albums. Rather, it structurally, yet gently moves around while retaining the connective thread of gentle, flowing, and harmonic sound.
Undecided? Just try the sample cuts available here and then check out all the other 5-star reviews- I concur with them and since I usually only post reviews on what I consider are 5-star offerings, this is worth sharing . Thank you, Wai Lana and Sidha!
』
(ecclectic, relaxing&oriental inspired - meditation music) 『I have owned this cd for about 3 years now, and looking for more items by Wai Lana&Gold Moon productions, the fancy comes upon me to review it... Whilst encapsulating all the best aspects of oriental and eastern music with none of the boring repetition which can so often predominate the meditation mixes of this kind of album. Never intrusive, it's great thinking music, like the serene ocean - wonderfully restive&deliciously refreshing. For me the best tracks are no.9, and no.2. I often sing along to the tracks with vocals (no.9 Spiritual Love). If you are looking for some sweet relaxing music to chill to, this is for you. Now I'm not saying I play this cd all the time - my musical tastes are too ecclectic for that - but it is the one my son goes to sleep to, and I often have it on repeat overnight. It would have made a great backing track to the movie: Crouching Tiger; Hidden Dragon. It's that sort of feel.
The best thing is: it's the soundtrack to my favorite yoga instructor!』
(Heartfelt and inspiring) 『When I was young, music was the "soundtrack of my life," and I found a lot of inspiration in my vinyl. Since then, I've found out that shallow lyrics and big egos kind of sour the taste of most commercial music these days and that makes me really choosy in what I listen to. Wai Lana's music is the some of the most genuine, heartfelt, good sounding music around. It's easy to listen to over and over again and inspiring to hear. Listening to it just makes it seem like everything's going to be all right. And knowing what Wai Lana is teaching with her yoga only makes it sweeter.』
(Another Hit) 『I love this album. It is incredible. After I purchased her other CD, Yoga Sound, I had to get this one. And I was amazed once more. Wai Lana is incredibly talented. And singing is definately one of strong points. The album is beautiful. Although there are not many vocal chants like on the other, you will find this CD to be incredible. Every instrument coerces you into a relaxing world, and every song Wai Lana and Siddha sing, relax you even further into a world of true beauty. Again the guitars and pianos and drums are astounding. Definately a great album. I loved it.』
(I can listen to this over and over again.) 『I'm almost deaf from the sort of "music" my son likes to blast. Then one day, I heard something - real music coming from his room. He was playing Wailana's Yoga Music of the Heart. His girlfriend lent it to him. I appreciated it so much, that I had to buy a copy for myself. Now we don't fight over his "music" anymore. We both appreciate Yoga Music of the Heart, and can listen to it over and over again.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (The best gift I've received in years...) 『I received this cd for Christmas, and I absolutely love it. In fact, it has been playing most of the time since I got it! It creates a very soothing and relaxing atmosphere without being monotonous. I have different meditation cd's, but I have never heard spiritual sounds being used in such a creative and diverse way. Each track has a unique style. Wai Lana and Siddha both have very soft and touching voices that are also at times incredibly powerful. I find this cd has a deep, positive effect on my mood and attitude. I just ordered their other cd, Yoga-Music of the Heart, and can't wait to receive it. I hope it's as great as this one.』
(Yoga Sound is a God-send!) 『Yoga Sound is the most wonderful surprise I could have ever hoped for. It is so soothing and relaxing - I find I can listen to it all day long and never grow tired of it. As a result, I gave it to several of my friends as a gift and they absolutely love it. One friend is a yoga teacher and another a massage therapist - they told me their students and clients really enjoy it and always comment on how nice it makes them feel. I highly recommend this cd to anyone who is looking to calm their mind from the daily stresses of everyday life.』
(70's Revisited) 『"Yoga Sound: Wai Lana&Siddha" CD by Gold Moon Productions....
Lately I've been enjoying the benfits of excercising to Yoga.I find it to be mentally refreshing and physcially challenging, with visable results.. More and more I find myself adding Yoga sessions to my workouts, so I thought I'd give this music a try to add a little ambiance to the routines.
Although there were a couple of tracks that had that ambiance I was looking for, I think that for that most part, you would really have to be into the spiritual side of Yoga to appreciate this music. I guess I am not! It did not relax me. In fact, there were times when I was stricken with intense and vivid flashbacks of being at the airport in L.A. in the 70's, being surrounded by people chanting at me, and me not having a dollar for a flower! This is not meant to be offensive to anyone who enjoys this type of music, it just wasn't what I had in mind for me personally.
The up side is that if you do enjoy this genre, you will find 10 tracks, that are all a good enough length to "get into". They run from 3:36 to 12:29(most being somewhere in between).I also find that it is always enlightening, to at least experience music of all types and cultures. There is a list of the songs, and a few that you can listen to samples of in the buying info here. They are short but may give you some idea of what to expect.
I will be passing my copy on to someone who will appreciate this more than I do.
"Om Hari Om"......remember to breathe...and thanks...Laurie』
(The Best Music Ever) 『I bought this CD because I watch and practice with the show as well as love the music on the show. I was thoroughly enchanted by the sublime vocals. Siddha's voice ranges from sweet and smooth, to emotional and grand, while Wai Lana's beautiful and enchanting voice sends warmth through your body. These two coupled with incredible guitarists, majestic pianists, and wonderful drummers bring to you a beatiful album. 12 songs of incredible depth. My personal favorite is track 7, Lionheart. Lionheart is the most incredible song on the album. You will find yourself singin along to this song while it's playing, and singing it when it's not. The guitarist outdoes himself on this song with an incredible passionate intro, interlude, and accompaniment, while the pianist shows the true depth to his own skills. If you ever want a CD of relaxing music, this is it. I myself do not believe in the Indian religion, (being a Christian), however I do use this album to relax at any time. It is perfect for any genre of music.』
(EXCELLENT! from a music lover) 『Wow! What a nice, beautiful CD! I was expecting it to be so unworthy to buy because of the reviews i read about this WAI LANA CD....but I bought it anyway...good thing I didn't listen to those who wrote negative reviews about this CD...This CD is actually beautiful...the songs are a combination of different yogic mantras with different instruments...creating a very unique, beautiful sound..that can make your whole body and mind relax...:) So for those who wants to try this CD but taken aback by the negative reviews, please try to understand that every person has his own taste...some may like it, some may not...so feel free to try and listen to it... :)』
IPhone 3G used's review (Awful) 『This moved way too fast for a beginner who knows virtually nothing about yoga. I completely disagree with another reviewer who said the instructor took time to fully explain the poses. Using the warrior pose as an example, I heard nothing about the correct positioning of the feet and would have done it wrong if it hadn't been for ALan Finger explaining the form correctly on another DVD.
Strangely, the woman who was doing the more advanced version of the exercises appeared...failing a politically correct way to say this and coming from someone who does NOT enjoy looking at supermodels in a workout, heavy-set and undefined enough to make me take notice, - an oddly unmotivating choice for a DVD supposedly focused on weight loss. Other issues - there was a great deal of bending forward which I found completely unsuitable for a bad back.
I fast forwarded to the bonus section which, though I haven't tried yet, seemed like it should have come first.
I also have YogaZone's Beginning Yoga DVD by Alan Finger, which is vastly superior to this.』
(great for not so limber people) 『I like this video because is shows the right way to do a pose then the modified say to do a pose. It is easy and there is only 2 people to watch doing the poses and a man talking. I would reccomend this DVD to beginners.』
(Don't do this video if you have bad knees!) 『I LOVE Yoga Zone videos, and I own many. I do NOT like this video. It was one of the first that I bought 4 or 5 years ago, when I first began yoga practice. It hurt me, and I thought that I just wasn't strong enough, so I set it aside until I got stronger. Well, I got better at all of my other videos, except for this one. I truly believe that there is not enough warmup for someone whose knees are not really strong. It hurts the entire time I am doing the video, and then my knees ache for days afterward. I also do not like the repetition of a few poses over... and over... and OVER... then it ends! And there is very little emphasis on the midsection (belly!), which I think most people interested in weight loss are usually very concerned about. This workout is mostly for your trunk.
If you want a good all-over conditioning video (really challenging, but not too hard for beginners), try Yoga Zone's Flexibility and Stress Release. The meditation at the end is fantastic, too.
That said, I must clarify that I do like the 20 minute bonus session on this Weight Loss video. It is short and thorough, and not stressful to any part of my body.』
(basic but challenging!) 『This was my second DVD following Suzanne Deason's Yoga Conditioning for Weightloss, which was a great place to start. I wanted a little more and am glad I found this one. It is challenging for a beginner but very accessible and it is really fun to see what you used to think impossible, very do-able after a couple weeks. The chair and plank poses used to kill me but now I find I look forward to them. Seems the thigh muscles and abs are quick to improve, which is very rewarding in itself! I have come to really enjoy Al Bingham's very encouraging and thorough style. I even look forward to his words near the end of the video "you've done a great job today...really, really good..." Completing this workout, I feel like I have indeed and like to hear someone appreciating it!
The length is just right for me, with a good warm up, nice cool down and challenging center, coming in at about 30 minutes. There is also the bonus 20 minute session which nicely explains basic alignment and ways to challenge yourself as you grow stronger.
I've got a fairly extensive library of videos now and I still find myself reaching for this one, both to make sure I can still do it, the length is right and because I simply enjoy it!』
(YOU CAN DO YOGA!) 『I had this on VHS&it quickly became my favorite Yoga Workout. So I was happy to see it on DVD. I love the people at Yoga Zone&of the male instructors I particularly like Al Bingham. Why? He is encouraging ("You CAN do Yoga! Even if you can't bend forward to touch your toes, you CAN do Yoga.")&very detailed in his instructions. Let's face it, when you're alone in your living room, there is no one there to tell you if you are doing it properly. Al shows you-through his female assistant(s) (In this case, Lisa Bennett Madken, Jean Kerner&Laura Sedome) how NOT to perform each pose&why. There are two sessions-a regular session&a Bonus session. I especially like the Bonus Session. It isn't too terribly taxing, but it is effective. Yoga, in general, stretches you in such a way that makes your blood feel energized. There are no special props, but a Yoga Mat is definitely recommended to avoid slipping. At the end, you do feel heated. Al explains the way this heat can actually help to burn calories. I believe that Yoga is a Holistic form of exercise, taking in Mind as well as Body&teaching us to be mindful of our whole self as Spiritual Beings. In this way we can lose weight&live a healthier lifestyle. I also love the Jamaican beach settings Yoga Zone uses.
』 『Whether you're looking to stay trim or starting a weight reduction program, the Yoga Zone - Beginners Yoga for Weight Loss from Video Action Sports will help you reach your goal. Senior Yoga Zone Teacher Al Bingham leads this easy-to-follow workout that improves strength and flexibility while burning calories and building confidence and energy.』
IPhone 3G used's review (very fun and hip) 『Our daughter loves this DVD. The poses are challenging enough that at 3 she can't do them all yet, but she still likes to dress up like the people in the show. The running time isn't too long, but neither is her attention span. Not sure why they have break dancing in the middle, but she likes that too and copies the dancing. Would love to see more yoga DVDs from "Lil Chi and Wasabi."』
(My kids love it.) 『My children love this video. My only problem with this DVD is it should be longer. I believe the other reviewer did not like the DVD's hippie dippie tone but my kids and their friends enjoyed using this DVD.』
(Horrible do not purchase) 『I recently purchased this DVD huge mistake. Not only are the characters annoying and often seem under the influence of drugs, there is also very little in the way of actual yoga. To make it even worse the packaging states the Approx. running time of the DVD is 35 minutes but it actually only lasts about 15 minutes. Terrible, Terrible, terrible, sums it all up!』

My kids, currently 2 and 4, love this CD. We listen to it in the car, where they can do the breathing exercise parts, and my 4 year old listens to it at home and follows the instructions from beginning to end - it effectively gives him his own yoga practice. I stumbled across this CD at our local library, and the boys loved it so much I ended up buying them a copy of their own.
The yoga exercises are simple but effective (actually good for adults, too!), and explained in a way that is very accessible to kids. The songs and spoken instructions/explanations are simple, fun, and lovely, and still bring all the richness yoga has to offer to kids in a way that speaks to them. Fun and relaxing all at once.
