IPhone 3G used's review (By Grace) 『By Grace I stumbled across KD's live CD. I have not looked back. This DVD is a gem. His heart is totally open and it shows. If you can't get to one of his Kirtans any time soon, this CD can tide you over. Jai Ma!!』
(Like being there) 『Spend an evening with this DVD and you will feel as if you have spent the evening with Krishna Das and his friends and followers. The music and chanting are excellent and the warmth of the people involved provides good rapport. At the end of the disc, you will feel uplifted and relaxed.』
(Beautiful Chanting) 『The tape was very rich with meditative music-Kirtan. It even has some footage on his Guru. Next best thing to a live performance. KD has a rich and powerful voice that keeps ringing in one's head.』
(KD's "Yoga of Chant"..the next best thing to a kirtan!) 『I just LOVED this video! Having been to kirtan with KD..this was the next best thing. The chants were very beautiful ones{I have all his CDs&am very familiar with all of them}-I was pleased with what was selected for the video. His speaking was also very moving and captures the "emotions" that accompany chant. The photography&editing were wonderful-they also caught the "mood" of an evening spent with this remarkable man,and his fellow musicians.Speaking of which...ALL the players were glorious. They speak to a place far beyond emotion{and description}.All the people in attendance that were viewed on the video, including the children, were ecstatic&joyous{as it is&should be,at such a gathering}.Jivamukti Yoga Center, where this video was filmed is a very pious space, which also adds to the experience. The photos&film clips of KD's beloved guru,Neem Karoli Baba are very, very moving. If you enjoy Krishna Das,chanting or BOTH-DO NOT MISS THIS VIDEO/DVD.If you never experienced either, try it anyway-it will really move you!!!While it obviously isn't an actual KD kirtan,it will tide you over till he comes to your area again.Enjoy fellow yogis&yoginis...OM SHANTI,SHANTI PEACE!!』

New Earth Records
Usually ships in 7 to 12 days IPhone 3G used's review (Indian Music with Yoga in Mind) 『This is a collection, Eastern Indian in flavor, intended for use as background music while you are practicing yoga. It features some of the better know New Earth label artists.
As yoga is an Eastern Indian practice, the feeling to the music overall is very appropriate. The feel of the CD is slow and deliberate, allowing the mind to become free from distraction and concentrate on the yoga positions. It succeeds in achieving this feeling.
The artists presented are Prem Joshua, Al Gromer Khan, Chinmaya Dunster, Hans Christian, Rasa, and Ustad Usman Kahn. Listeners to New Earth Recordings will be familiar with these artists.
The track Jinjhoti by Chinmaya Dunster with Niladri Kumar is a winner. This is almost a jazzy piece, but with very definite Indian flavor. It is highlighted by expert sitar work with the beat of what sounds like a snare drum and cymbal. An enjoyable piece, very light and airy.
Rasa is included in this collection as well. Their track Srita Kamala returns to the slow, deliberate pace set in the earlier tracks, with expert sitar playing. A beautiful, gentle piece and another lovely addition to this collection.
Ustad Usman Khan is a classical sitar player, with raga being his specialty. The piece presented here, Raga Kanshik Ranjana is a traditional raga, interpreted by Mr. Khan in the independent style he is well known for. The piece offers a change of pace, but never gets beyond a level appropriate for yoga practice.
Sitarist Al Gromer Khan offers us something different in the way of Blue Raga. More blues than raga, it has a very Western blues feeling but there are hints of an Eastern influence with the sitar and some of the rifts. Again, the feeling is slow, purposeful and conducive to the yoga practice, but definitely has more of a Western feel than any of the previous tracks.
The last track is by Chinmaya Dunster. Konark is airy and melodic, much more the Celtic Raga Band feel to it, and a nice piece to end this disk with.
This is a good overview of modern Indian music, with a good mix of traditional and progressive material with some Western influences. It is a nice blend of styles and if you are not familiar with modern Indian music, this is a good place to start. Also, it achieves its purpose as being a nice background accompaniment to your yoga practice. This is a very nice compilation of modern sitar masters and styles that will appeal to the world music listener as well as the yoga practitioner. mafoster』 『This CD aids in the deliberate suspension of the stream of consciousness that often clutters the mind during meditation and yoga. It assists to obtain a state of meditative bliss and relaxation as the body comes into a natural state of serenity.』

Connecting the Universe Music
Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (I love this CD!!!) 『I have owned this CD Detaching the world vol. 4 for 2 years now and still listen to it almost daily. The music is perfect for massage and yoga with its luscious textures of blissful ambient guitar compositions. In its entirety, the CD follows a theme in which all the music flows and connects within itself to each track. The length is perfect, over an hour, and the volume levels and tempos are all evenly matched. This music actually helps me focus better on my tasks because you don't have to think about it (the music) while it's playing. The ultimate beauty of this CD is that I've had it for 2 years and it doesn't grow old!!! Like Detaching Vol. 1, this is one of my favorites in my entire relaxation music collection. I recommend Detaching the world vol. 4 for anyone looking for new relaxing ambient music.』
(not what expected) 『This is not one of our favorities--not as soothing as we had hoped.Wish we had been able to hear samples before buying. Will be sure to pick ones that have sample music.』
(Ambient Guitarist Emil Gagliardi Comes Full Circle) 『In the fourth volume of his Detaching the World series, ambient guitarist Emil Gagliardi pulls together the experimental pastiches and sonic vignettes of his previous three installments into a unifying whole, resulting in his first presentation of complete songs with distinct melodies and a beginning, middle, and end. The effects-laden signal processing of Gagliardi's electric guitar fills in the background, while Gagliardi's acoustic guitar expresses his musical musings in the foreground. The artist's future recordings are highly anticipated.』
(...a CD review from a client's perspective...) 『I just came back fresh from my weekly massage session and felt the urge to write a review of Vol. 4, DETACHING the world. DETACHING the world has become a vital element in developing the peaceful and relaxing background setting for my regular weekly massage appointment. I usually play this disc in the car in order to prepare my mind, body, and spirit to fully receive a relaxing massage. Even playing the music for 10 minutes prior to my appointment helps me focus and relax.
Musician Emil Gagliardi has found this magical balance between complexity and simplicity with his composition styling and guitar performance. The intricacy of his music is presented in a rich, beautiful, and relaxed layered sound that isn't demanding or boring. During the massage, it engages me, the client, to focus on the bodywork I'm receiving without any unwelcome interruptions. In the past, I've had therapists use other music that's kind of relaxing but always has that 1 or 2 tracks to offset my center. You won't find this happening on Vol. 4. The music blends together so well that it's hard to tell when one selection ends and the next begins. I do know that from the beginning track to the ending track, the music gets deeper...and deeper...and deeper...kind of like a journey.
The first two tracks (Trickle Down and Clouds) immediately pull my body/mind/spirit into the massage and allow me to focus on the work being given. Midnight Moon, Tribute, and Native Land draws the atmosphere deeper which matches the hands on work perfectly. Honestly at this point in the massage, everything blends in so well together that I'm in another realm. The euphoric Peace wraps up the session and holds the atmosphere in a refreshing relaxed state.
After today's session, my therapist (who also owns this disc) and I briefly discussed how great this music is for massage. I relayed how her touch matches the music and brings out these great visuals and colors. She was telling me how this disc and Vol. 1 are both magical in creating that perfect balance of energy in the room. I couldn't agree more. If you're looking for a new style of relaxing music, look no further... Vol. 4 is magical, beautiful, and very different from the norm. 』
(GET READY TO ENTER A NEW WORLD OF MUSIC FOR MASSAGE) 『I found this cd Detaching the World Vol. 4 at the Canyon Ranch Resort in Tucson. After receiving one of the most cleansing and purifying massages ever (while this music was playing in the background), I couldn't help but think of how wonderful it would be to add this cd to my practice. After my purchase, I listened to it for almost a week strait before returning home and trying it out on clients. As a full time massage therapist, this cd has played during many sessions, providing a peaceful, relaxed setting with the music. As most lmts know, it can be very frustrating finding that happy medium of music that connects clients and therapists. I will tell you that the purifying cleansing deep guitar notes on this cd will not leave you or clients dissapointed. This one's a keeper!』 『Composer and musician Emil Gagliardi presents six soothing new tracks of ambient meditative guitar music for the critically acclaimed Detaching the World CD series. Detaching the World (Vol. 4) provides over an hour's worth of delicately crafted continuous ambient guitar compositions. This CD, as with all CDs released by this artist, contain no: fast tempos, fluctuating volume changes, synthesizers or percussion. This music is meant to embrace the listener's soul with the artist's interpretation of unconditional love (through ambient guitar) for all that choose to seek it. Detaching the World (Vol. 4) is highly recommended for massage and spa, meditation, reiki, hypnotherapy, yoga, relaxation and pure enjoyment. Total run time: 62:20. As Trickle Down begins, an acoustic guitar mimics a gentle mid-winter snowfall while a soft acoustic melody represents the indefinite placement of snowflakes trickling through the sky. Clouds holds true meaning to the name, like a timeless shift of the soul floating seamlessly through eternal atmosphere. The unmistakable trio blend of guitars on the picturesque Midnight Moon carries us deeper into the artist s nightly vision of a full moon evening on the calm sea (see cover photo). Tribute (to Sam and Sammy) is a beautifully acclaimed artist representation of the soul's crossover to the other side. The unfettered Native Land is an offering to the spirit of the Abnaki people who once inhabited the coast of Broad Cove, Maine (where Detaching the World Vol. 4 was recorded). Peace perfectly sums up this recording with intricate layers of blissful harmonic guitar work requesting a prayer for... Detaching the World (Vol. 4) provides massage therapists, yoga enthusiasts, healing arts professionals and seekers of total relaxation with a unique attractive approach to relaxing ambient background music. Emil Gagliardi's intricate guitar work bestows upon the listen』
IPhone 3G used's review (VHS version was called "Yoga At Home w/Yogi Hari - Beginners" Slow yin yoga pace) 『This DVD looks to be from a VHS several years before his "Samphoorna Hatha Yoga: Level 1" since here he is only a little bald&tiny bit of gray hair where the other he's very bald&much more gray hair. There is no menu, it starts with old graphic text about being careful. The video shows him on an old wooden dock, but you can only see exotic beautiful plants around him. The video looks like decent home video. The camera does zoom in/out as needed&changes angle. The sound is fine&he does instruction via voice over. The music is always a slow, beautiful flute. The pace of this video overall is verrrry slow&very relaxed like you have all the time in the world. He tells you the English&Sanskrit name of all the poses&how they benefit the body&it's organs except for the sun breathing/salutations. Breathing/Relax - 8 min - him in corpse pose telling you how to relax&to be aware of your body. There is more basic text once in a while about loose clothing, that this is a beginners tape,&to go for a more instructional if you need more details on the poses, etc. He also chants OM 3x long&relaxed while sitting. He teaches paranayama/breathing is the count of 3 slow. Sun salutations - 9 min - he does them very fast from the get-go like power yoga pose, slow single breathe for each pose/movement. He's mountain pose backbends are amazing, he goes from mountain, standing fwd bend, lunge, plank, down to knees to upward facing dog, downward facing dog, lunge, standing fwd bend&back to mountain 5x. He gives only breath teaching&pose name, no other details. You rest&feel body as standing&then repeat sun salutations 2x more. Lay down&relax. Strengthening - 8 min - raise single leg w/o use of arms to stretch fast several times&then hold pose w/ankle rotations/turns, then knee to chest stretches, double leg lifts/lowers, knee to chest stretch, rocking on spine&rest for 2 min. Inversions - 5 min - shoulder stand sustained w/1 leg lowered to head&plow for 3 min w/few second break in between. Rest for 1 full minute, fish folding for about a min&rest for a minute. Spinal Stretch - 10 min - sitting fwd bend to both straight legs several times for a second&then sustained for a full minute. Cobra is next for a full minute with a break in between&full 2 min rest. Next is locust 1 leg at a time then both (he can go VERY high) for 2 min, then bow for a min. Sitting Spinal Twists - 7 min - first sitting kind to the side of your thighs, bend sideways, then basic spinal twists almost all yoga classes do, rest in a deep squat, then crow (very advanced), triangle (his looks like a basic standing side stretch *though his are deep* legs are facing fwd, legs not far apart, but felt good just the same)&standing fwd bend. Rest/Meditation - 11 min - corpse pose&he tells you to tense&relax body parts&to focus your thoughts.
I found this video relaxing after doing the sun salutations, at first I was bored with the pace. I didn't feel energized or spiritually relaxed other then nicely stretched out that any decent yoga dvd could give. I do like slow pace yoga videos with the right teachers. I was also not happy that he didn't give any teaching of doing the poses better, though happy he does tell you how your body benefits from the poses. He is not woo-woo as some very logical "I only do yoga to burn calories¬ get arthritis" would be afraid of. He is to the point in his speaking. I still like his "Sampoorna Hatha Yoga at Home With Yogi Hari: Level 1" more which I wrote a quick review of. Because of the lack of teaching, I wouldn't really recommend this as a 1st yoga video unless you were very aware of your body&know how far to go&when to back off. Take off 1-2 stars if you don't like slow pace or minimal instruction.
