The good points are that it's colorful, and the animation and songs are pretty decent. But the instructor often spends way too much time talking about the poses, rather than just getting into them. It's too long for kids to wait. Also, I find the instructor's voice very.....odd. I know it's supposed to be 'soothing', but I find it weird. It's rather deep. It sounds to me like a man's voice trying to be a woman's voice. (If you've ever seen Transamerica, you'll know what I mean.)
I don't think my kids will use this as it's intended, as it's pretty slow. I know yoga isn't about speed, but kids aren't generally about meditation and excessive patience. If it went more directly into getting the kids into the poses, it would be better, in my opinion.』
(Good for young kids, wish it was a bit longer.) 『This is a nice starting yoga DVD for young kids. I just wish it was a little bit longer. There's also one young little girl in the back in red who doesn't always do the pose they are working on and I find her distracting -- she's not the one I want my toddler copying.

If you like "Little Yogi's" then "Yoga Kid's: ABC's" would be the next stop since it is also a little cartoon followed by the pose but since it goes throughout the alphabet, it is longer.』

(a great kid yoga video) 『Little Yogis is a charming and fun yoga video. Some friends got it for their three kids, and all the kids have fun doing yoga with it. The 5 year old boy loves it so much he gets his own mat out to do it by himself. The beautiful scenery, happy music, and smiling Wai Lana make this kid yoga video exceptional. I've seen a couple of other kiddie yoga videos, and this is so much better I highly recommend it. I'm going to get it for my grandchildren.』

(Very good, But ...) 『The instrumental music is fantastic, Jai Uttal's chanting really detracts from the album. It's as if it doesnt really fit into the music. If one could edit the annoying chanting off it would be a 5 star album.』
(Hypnotic, sensual, seamless, mesmerizing) 『I purchased this CD after searching high and low for music to listen to while practicing yoga. I recognized this music instantly upon sampling it on Amazon as works that a favorite yoga teacher of mine has used in the past. Each piece is very distinctive which is why I recognized it.
I like many things about this album. First, the pieces are generally long, particularly the first piece. This is nice when meditating or doing flow yoga. Secondly, while they do mesmerize and have a low bass beat, there are transitions within each song that are so brilliantly and seamlessly done that it is almost like having two or three melodies in one piece along with different soothing chanting. As a result, the pieces do not ramble given their length; rather, they lengthen out, change, and evolve while still keeping a steady recognizable beat.
A great album for chilling out, doing yoga, yin or flow.』
(Beautiful album...) 『"Music for Yoga and Other Joys" is a beautiful album and I certainly recommend it, even if what follows seems like a somewhat mixed review.
First and foremost on this album is the music - a kind of jazzy, rock fusion, put in service to the chants. There is a patience in allowing themes and emotional ground to form. It is clearly a case where the journey is the important part, not some imagined destination. Anyway, the destination is the devotion embodied in these Hindu chants. If you submit to the journey, you will know the devotion throughout.
As one who chants vedas, as well as devotional chants, I found the Sanskrit, in spots, leaves something to be desired. Hindi-ization of Sanskrit is the frequent practice in many modern chant albums and it occurs to some degree in this album, as well. Additionally, the final piece, a series of sun salutations, loses some of its power due to the almost total swallowing of the OM which begins each salutation. This seems a pity, as the conception of the piece has the potential to be very focusing and humbling. I also had a great deal of trouble hearing the actual words clearly in this piece.
The voice of Jai Uttal and also of Nubia Teixeira in the last piece, "Surya," are excellent for these pieces. The instrumental work is both well crafted and, at the same time, creatively free to explore the meaning of each chant.
Again, this is a really beautiful album to listen to, even with the caveats above.』
(Relaxing music for yoga and/or meditation) 『I've really enjoyed this CD. Initially I bought it for home practice of yoga, but I'm having a hard time practicing yoga by myself (and without a DVD). However, I very much enjoy this CD just in my every day activities. It is a great way to wake up in the morning, instead of listening to the news and making yourself sad about the day's events. It is also good for just hanging around the house, reading, or to relax yourself in the evening. I like to put on my lavender eye pillow and listen to relax at night! Anyhoo, kudos to the musicians and arrangers.』

The lady's voice is incredibly beautiful, the melodies are haunting and uplifting, and the significance behind the words is both meaningful and calming. Though it is definitely repetitious, mantras sung over and over, I have listened to it probably 50 times so far, know the words by heart, can sing the harmonies to her tracks, all levels, and find it lends to repeated hearing. I first heard it played very softly at my yoga class, and it caught my attention enough that I asked about the artist, then ordered the CD for myself. I love it. I come back to it again and again, for stress relief, for the energy boost that comes from the music but also upon consideration of the meanings. It's lovely, a blessing. The production values are superb, the musicianship lush and complementary. Wish I could sing with her live. Get this CD if you value your sanity.』

(Meditations by a shrink) 『Actually, Gael Chiarella is a life coach, and listening to this c.d. is like meditating with a life coach, rather than a yogini. It might work for some, but I found the wording and imagery especially off-putting. For example, in meditation 2, we're instructed to make positive affirmations about ourselves, like "I am the master of my destiny" and "I am courage in action". Hardly yoga-oriented in the emphasis on the ego, and hard to take seriously in any case. In the final relaxation, she intones over and over "I am peaceful and safe in the arms of my breath." Whatever.』
(Very relaxing) 『This is a great CD set for relaxation. I use it the most in the car, which is probably not the optimal setting, but nonetheless it keeps me relaxed in traffic. Gael's voice and intonation are so very soothing, and the background music compliments her meditations. I was happily impressed with this set.』
