I am one who has great difficulty in taking time for myself and relaxing. I have a lot of stress which has caused much heartache. My counselor has suggested I try meditation so I got this DVD. That night I used it and was very impressed with the instuctors smooth clear voice. It is a very guided meditation that concentrates on body and breathing. When ever my mind started to wander, it helped a great deal in helping me to concentrate on me and breath. I was able be concious but be in a deep relaxed state. It helped me to release thoughts and stressers in a concious manner yet I was able to remain in deep relaxed state. I felt it also brought clairty to things that were causing the stress.』
(Great Assist) 『On the recommendation of a friend I ordered and began immediately using this CD. There are a number of reasons why I have recommended this CD to all my friends. The primary reason is that though I am still a fairly new practitioner of this particular kriya I'm already seeing numerous positive effects including a pervasive calmness post-listening which continues on into the next day (I listen to the CD every evening all the way through and then go to sleep). In addition, while I used to have occasional unpleasant vivid dreams...so far, those have stopped completely. The voice that guides you through to the yoga nidra state is one I find soothing and pleasant to listen to. The practice of bringing attention to various points of the body also appears to be assisting me in my daily meditative practice as well as helping me during the day keep bringing attention back to any changes of mood or mental states.
I highly recommend others try this CD for themselves and see how the practice and entering into Yoga Nidra assists the practitioner.』
(Help Put Me To Sleep) 『As in everyone this is something that either touches you deeply or helps in other ways.』
(Great Meditation Experience) 『I'm saddened by the "1 star" review on this item. As someone who does a lot of meditation, and a variety of meditations, I enjoy this CD very much. Could I have done it myself? Yes, but that's true of almost every spoken meditation CD. But I didn't.
As someone who meditates frequently, I enjoy this audio CD because it has a variety of meditations, which I can mix up into various length "programs" of different lengths. It's not just the short version, the medium version, and the long version. 』
(Good for guided relaxation) 『As some other reviewers have complained, the voice rather drones, but that isn't the worst thing in the world: who needs an excited guide when looking to relax? Anyway, the guided, point by point relaxation is just what I was looking for, so I'm pretty happy with it. I can fathom better though (e.g. maybe have binaural beats going in the background or some such), so 4 is the best I give this. 』 『This meditation is an authentic rendering of Yoga Nidra as taught in the Himalayas by the masters of Yoga, Vedanta and Tantra. While it is an advanced meditation practice, anyone can start the practice while watching it deepen over time.
Yoga Nidra literally means "Yogic Sleep." In this deep meditation you train your attention to leave the chatter of the Waking state of mind, go past the fantasy of the Dreaming state, and consciously, intentionally enter the stillness of the Deep Sleep state, yet paradoxically remain awake and in deep meditation. For thousands of years the Yogis have used Yoga Nidra to master the art of sleep, to balance the subtle energies, and to experience greater depths of meditation.
The state of conscious Deep Sleep or Yoga Nidra is underneath, behind, or subtler than meditations at either the Waking or Dreaming levels. This subtle state is called "Prajna," which means "supreme knowing." "Pra" means "supreme," and "jna" means "knowing." The conscious experience of this state is a doorway to higher, formless knowing that has been called the infinite library of wisdom and the teacher within.
The depth of authentic Yoga Nidra comes from inner awareness of the levels of your own self, including your body, breath, and the subtler mind, rather than diverting attention through music or inner fantasies (as pleasant as these may be). This inner exploring through self-awareness is a more refined form of meditation that leads you deeper into the stillness and silence of your own being, while remaining fully awake and aware. The Yoga Nidra methods bring you to a place of awareness where you are able to completely let go of any words, thoughts, images, impressions, or pictures in the mind. You are guided to allow your mind to "empty, empty, empty" though you remain fully awake and clear of mind.
The practices on this CD will gently train your ability to direct your own attention, which is the primary skill in the art of meditation. You will find that you are gradually able to use these methods on your own, without the CD, and the benefits will be with you not only during your practice time, but also during the activities of daily life.
The voice will systematically guide you to explore your physical body, then move through 61 specific points within the body, and then practice ascending breath awareness along the body and spine. Your attention will be brought to the space between the eyebrows, then to the throat, and finally to the heart center, where you will go deep into stillness and silence, beyond the activities of the mind.
The Yoga Nidra CD has five tracks. The first track is an introduction (8:02 minutes), describing the state of Yoga Nidra and the practices on the CD. The next four tracks move through four sequential practices that are listened to together, so as to form a complete practice of 57:24 minutes (CD is 65:36 minutes in total). These four tracks can also be listened to individually, as complete practices unto themselves, which allows you to have the benefits of practice when less time is available.』
IPhone 3G used's review (Great yoga cd) 『This cd was just the inspirational infusion my yoga sessions needed. The music is smooth, funky but allows for you to focus on your practice. This is a wonderful collection of of artfully crafted music. Namaste.』
(Peaceful yet exotic!) 『I have bought 8-9 other CDs with this one, many a disappointment sadly. When I received the Yoga Groove, I was thinking "here we go again!" until I heard the first song. Intoxicating, healing, dream invoking, smooth flowing music - great for yoga, relaxation or just for every day use. I often use it during my hectic car ride to work, very soothing.
I also use it during prenatal yoga. Hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.』
(Received what I expected) 『I received the cd brand new but the jewel case was broken on the inside. I don't think it was the fault of the seller but probably how it was shipped. It took a while to get but I had the free shipping so I wasn't too surprised.』
(I like the CD) 『I like this CD the first time I listened and now I listen to it everyday. I like it more and more』
(Very inspiring) 『This CD came in very handy. I have started doing yoga at home, after three years yoga classes with certified teachers. This CD helps me get in the mood of practising. It's absolutely fabulous!』 『"Whether you teach active yoga or just enjoy practicing yoga in your home, this is perfect to keep you moving." -ACCENT WEEKLY
"This is not your mother’s yoga music Composed/performed/produced by DJ Free, his keyboards, Native flute and distinctive chanting flow along grooves laid down by master percussionist Brent Lewis…the overall feel is richly layered, a kind of primal naturalness mixed with an edgy urbanity. If one’s style of yoga, dance, or movement is highly energetic, this could be the perfect motivator." -NAPRA REVIEW
"On Ice...DJ Free and Peter Schimke made sure all their musical chromosomes were properly aligned before hauling in a posse of luminaries, local and otherwise, to put the glisten on their first non-soundtrack collaboration. even as a simple augmented duo, the programming whiz and keyboardist-around-town slide accross genre boundaries with Olympic-caliber grace, mixing potentially unwieldy elements - shuffly house-music tectonics, serious jazz piano, and high-disco string pyrotechnics - as though they were water." -CITY PAGES

(Great for relaxation, a few selections work for yoga.) 『This is a very good CD for relaxation and chilling out at home after a long day at the office. All 7 of the recording artists who perform the 12 selections on the CD are in top form and the music varies from chants or flute solo, to synthesized space music. However, I don't think it is the right CD for meditative yoga. For example, Randy Armstrong's two selections were a bit too influenced by jazz and improvisation and this made them less appropriate for quite meditation. I found 5 selections that would work for meditative yoga practice but many of the others were a bit too vocal or too jazzy to enduce meditation and quiet. The five selections I think were right for meditation were Air Oil by Peas, Opening and Devotion by Stephen DeRuby and Plant and Misty by Kitaro.』

However, I like music with a bit more rythym for Sun Salutations/vinyasas, after the 1st quarter of the CD. It is a nice CD for small gatherings as well.』
(Great all around CD!) 『I am a Yoga instructor, and purchased the CD with my classes in mind. I wanted something a little different than my usual traditional music, and this was! It is a great blend of modern western beats meets eastern lounge like music. There is a good mix of soft and upbeat songs great for a yoga practice with variety. The music tracks are also wonderful for entertaining and peaceful relaxation.』
(Ideal for Yoga!) 『This is definitely a WONDERFUL choice for Yoga, perfect actually. Great transitions and progression throughout. Takes you on a Yoga journey planned just for you! I highly recommend this album and also Yoga Salon, two great yoga titles.』
(Yoga Moods) 『After a long day at work, I like to drive home listening to soothing and relaxing music. When I heard Yoga Moods, I made three CD copies, one for my car, one for my office and one d/l for my ipod. Yoga Moods takes you to a place of tranquility and a place of sanctuary. The sounds are mezmerizing. I highly recommend this title for any yoga enthusiast and anyone who enjoys relaxing music.』
(Perfect for Yoga and everything else) 『I heard this in yoga class the other day and thought it was the best music for yoga I had every heard. Unlike other yoga music CDs that have music from India or meditation music, this one has a blend of hip downtempo electronica tracks that are not only perfect for yoga, they are also great for entertaining friends or just relaxing at home. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (yoga for kids) 『My 4 year old daughter loves it. When Mommy does her yoga she can do some of the exercises, too. Many times she just gets it out and does a section on her own. She is so flexible, I wish I had this when I was a child. Very simple to follow, and fun for the parent to do together.』
(Perfect past time for too hot summer days) 『My son loves this DVD set! When it is too hot and humid to go outside he pops it in and does Silly to Calm to get his wiggles out. I don't even have to remind him he has it, he does it all by himself. My only complaint is that one of the DVDs is slightly off, the intro is scrambled, but it doesn't affect the work-out part of the video so no big deal. I would definitely recommend this set to anyone with young children.』
(interesting but too long) 『The video incorporates different kinds of postures in a fun way. However, I think a 40 min non-stop sessions is too long to hold any 3-5 year old's interest. Instead, if different routines, each at the most 10 min. long had been presented it would have been better. A parent could guide the child do those, or even accompany the child doing them. And by having different routines there would also have been more variety for the child. My three year old grand son soon lost interest and moved away to play with some other toys.』
(Very entertaining for toddlers!) 『I bought this for my little home daycare and have found it to be the most popular video in my collection to them. The two-year-olds especially ask for it all the time. It's a great way to keep them active when it's too hot to go outside.』
(Great gift for kids 5 and 3, boys and girls alike!) 『I got this for my kids and they LOVE it. They are 5 and 3 years old. I was looking for a way we could spend Quiet time. I am a yoga junkie myself. This is great, because they are quiet and getting exercise. They love doing this together so I bought the other 2 yoga kids DVD's as well. We rotate all 3 of the DVD's and do 2 a night before bed! They talk about the poses during the day and I have seen them get better each time they practice. Get these for your kids for sure. I also bought them kid yoga mats which makes it easier (and more fun!). This would be a great gift for a toddler with the yoga mat.』 『Kids love doing yoga - especially when it feels like play. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (rootsy rhythm to feed your soul) 『After reading the reviews I must comment. This cd wonderfull. It starts with an invocative chant to honor the source and follows with a lot of rootsy Hindi music which follows the sequence of your yoga flow. The third track is a delight. It sounds like a village of children singing their hearts out in a very upbeat heartlifting joyful song. Jai Utall is featured in the backbend portion. The second to last song is piano with what sounds like an old yogi softly speaking and the last song is a Hindi woman sounding a namaskara chant. The last two tracks are very raw and for some may seem wierd at first but relax and let go. Let it take you to a quiet place. Peace to you, me and this crazy world.』
(Wow) 『My current yoga cd's are boring compared to this one. The first time I played it in class, just about all of my students made positive comments. It's hot!!』
(yoga teacher) 『this is a great cd for practcing a flow yoga at home or in class tempo and timimg spot on highly recomended』
(bland) 『I found this to be rather bland and repetative. It is difficult to find good Yoga music because everyone's tastes are so different. I prefer drums and traditional instruments. This one is a bit new agey for me.』

Usually ships in 2 to 3 weeks IPhone 3G used's review (Well-done, inspiring) 『I rented this through Netflix, so had no access to any additional materials that might have been included with it (eye chart, for example).
The only suggestion for improvement I would make is: have a separate workout on the DVD. While Mr. Schneider does go into how long to do each individual exercise when teaching, it would be nice to have a complete, real-time run through on the DVD.
The exercises/warm-up he has you go through before you do any of the eye exercises could also be used as a gentle, yet energizing warm up for other physical exercise--a welcome and unexpected bonus.』
(yoga for eyes and minds) 『This is a very good set of book and dvd with easy to follow instructions. You learn a lot about eyes, body and mind cooperation. It makes you to respect the best organs of your senses.THE EYES!』
(MUST HAVE) 『Sure all our muscles need excersise! And why not the eyes too! I have perfect eye sight and still I feel much better, relaxed, after I started with this program. DVD comes with a small excersise book and stuff you need for the program.』
(best by test) 『Meir's book is the most thorough I have ever seen and he is clearly the most qualified having not only recreated his own eyesight sufficiently to have no restrictions on his drivers license, and to have assisted thousands to improve or regain their eyesight. In addition, his work with Muscular Dystrophy is nearly miraculous. Check out his references in this area as you will find it hard to believe that he has made such an impact in this area for which Jerry Lewis campaigns every year and to my knowledge has never even mentioned Meir.』
(Great information, bit slow on the teaching) 『This DVD is based on the Bates' book method that says MOST simple visual blurriness due to nearsightedness or far sightedness is due to eye muscle strain/stiffness, not the cornea or optic nerve (always situations where it is). This DVD shows exercise that Meir himself came up with based on the book who he himself was born almost totally blind by age 7 who passed the DMV eye exam w/o need for glasses. I've only gone through some of it, but the simple thing as warming your hands&cupping each eye with each hand for 5 min w/o pressure on the cheek bones was great. He says most people's eye muscles are stiff from too much reading, tv&computer work¬ enough looking long distances like previous generations. I didn't even think my eyes were stiff until I cupped them. When I was done, OH MY GOD, my eyes felt SSOOO refreshed&I could see slightly better. As most people, I would think sleeping is the same thing, but he says since that is passive, it does not count as giving your eyes a chance to relax. The DVD has him teaching another man how to do the exercise which contains an eye chart&simple carboard squares to work on your peripheral vision. The only reason I took off 1 star was because the teaching is so slow&drawn out I kept getting too bored to finish it.』 『"This is yoga because this is union with the eyes," explains Meir Schneider in the introduction toYoga for Your Eyes. Born legally blind, Schneider underwent many operations as a child but was unable to see more than light and shadow; he had to do all of his schoolwork in Braille. Today he is able to drive a car without use of glasses or contacts, after improving his sight holistically. In this video, Schneider shares his techniques, using movements that originate in two main sources: the techniques of ophthalmologist William Bates and Tibetan yoga.
To begin, Schneider instructs you to remove your contacts or glasses (how he expects you to see the screen clearly enough to follow the exercises is not explained). Then he moves on to "palming," a vision-improving exercise. The instruction is thorough, including directions on how to breathe, and the movements are simple and relaxing. The second segment is "Testing Your Vision," in which you're told to make your own eye chart to graph your improvement. "Stimulating Your Peripheral Vision" is next, and it requires three pieces of black construction paper and tape to help you balance the use of both eyes together. "Outdoor Exercises" explains why older people have more vision difficulties and shows how to improve this problem. The final exercises--"Sunning," "Skying," and "Long Swing"--help you to adapt to bright lights.
Schneider is an earnest instructor, who obviously believes strongly in his methods. If you're looking for a natural way to improve your eyesight,Yoga for Your Eyesis the place to begin. Also included with the video is a 62-page study guide.--Jenny Brown』
