(Too bad they don't make this one anymore...)
『I have to say that this game looked really cool when it came out. It had everything you could possibly want, good graphics, lots of characters, and cool moves. But now, I just heard that they don't make this game for Neogeo anymore. (neither the neogeo itself) I would advise buying this game before it gets sold out, or you'll never see it again.』

(Ready to Rumble!)
『This is why I bought a NEO-GEO pocket in the first place. The fighting games... and this one doesn't dissapoint. I found myself slammin and bangin all over town... when I should have done been doing something else. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of characters. Anyone whose played Match of the Millennium knows that the cart is capable of so many more. But for a cheaper alternative to MotM this is the ONE!』

(metal slug the first mission)
『It was A cool shooter but, it can be pretty hard. I think I got my money's worth.』

(Not as good as Samurai Showdown IMO)
『I got this game as well as Samurai Showdown 2 pretty close together. I had fun with this game and it was great fun but I wasn't hooked even with all the different modes of play. This is probably more critical because I am comparing it to SS2 but this is just my humble opinion. Now if I feel like playing a fighting game I would choose SS2 over this.』

(The Best Non-Violent Fighting Game Available)
『King of Fighters R-2 is one of the greatest games out. It has all the action of the latest fighting games without all the blood and gore. It is just simply a great game that you or your child will like.』
『Following in the footsteps of classic fighting games likeStreet FighterandMortal Kombat,King Of Fighters: R-2assembles a gang of fighters who kick, punch, jump, guard, and "special move" their way to the top. Although this game doesn't have as many moves as most fighting games for home consoles, it does contain an unusually large selection of female fighters to choose from, making equal opportunity supporters happy. And these gaming gals can sure hold their own. To prove that women warriors truly rock, look no further than Shermie. Her cartwheel kick is just as powerful and devastating as that of the magic-wielding male fighter Saisyu.

King of Fighters: R-2enables you to equip each character with up to two original moves, swap signature skills, or create a new character from scratch. The characters all benefit from a sassy and competitive nature that comes out in both pre- and post-tournaments.

This game allows you to choose between fighting the computer as a team or as a single character to advance up the ranks with every triumphant battle. In addition, this game contains special features that can be unlocked only when connected to the Sega Dreamcast console via the SNK DC Link Cable. For example, points scored in the companion Dreamcast gameKing of Fighters 99can be applied to this NEOGEO game.--Carrie Bell

Pros:

  • Numerous female fighters
  • Similar to classic fighting gamesStreet FighterandMortal Kombat
Cons:
  • Limited variation in moves
  • Game environment isn't very detailed

(Not bad for a gbc game)
『Capcom may have cancelled one highly anticipated game for the Game Boy Color, but Street Fighter Alpha is still alive and kicking ? and it's finally available stateside. Those lucky ducks in the UK have been enjoying this darn-close arcade-to-portable rendition for three months now, and Capcom USA has finally dropped this cartridge onto retail shelves across the country. It was worth the wait, but there are a few omissions to the conversion that drop it from becoming the definitive portable fighter. You have to hand it to Crawfish for converting such an ambitious 32-bit arcade game to the Game Boy Color. Street Fighter Alpha may have been released in arcades almost three years ago, but it definitely wasn't an easy feat bringing the game to pocket form. And for a system with only two action buttons, the translation of the action has been ported really, really well.
The game features the line-up of 10 characters (so far Akuma has gone undiscovered), and features the same one-on-one fighting engine that was enjoyed in arcades just a few years back. Each character has his or her own feel, but pulling off their moves are similar to one another. The A and B buttons do their job as the Kick and Punch actions ? the longer you hold the buttons, the more powerful the activated move. As you battle, you fill up the gauge at the bottom of the screen, up to three levels ? performing a pad/button combination will activate the Super Combo, a devestating flurry of powerful moves that'll sap the power right out of your rival. The game even keeps track of how you out your opponent, with an icon that displays the many ways: normal move, special move, cheesy move, throw, super combo, and a perfect victory. The graphics are excellent for the Game Boy Color ? characters are rendered based on the Street Fighter Alpha style instead of the NeoGeo Pocket "big head" mode. The backgrounds are equally nice, with just a bit of animation thrown back there to be more interesting. The imagery is some of the best I've seen on the Nintendo portable to date. Don't expect much sound other than a few FM music pieces and white noise "thud" sounds when every punch connects ? it would be silly to expect the Game Boy Color to accurately push constant "Hadoken!" digitized sounds during the action. It would've been nice, sure, but hey, this is the Game Boy Color we're talking about. The big difference between the Game Boy Color and arcade versions is in the cosmetics ? most of the Alpha-style elements are in the game, minus one key factor: the Game Boy Color does not count combo hits. It's been a while since I've played the first Alpha game in the arcade or the Saturn, but I clearly remember a counter of some sort as you plaster your opponent with continuous hits. And even if it didn't, it's a feature that should have been included. The game also doesn't have the necessary "oomph" in the hits ? granted, the speaker on the system isn't the greatest sound tool out there, but there needs to be something that portrays the brutal punches and kicks when they connect. It's good enough, but the game just needs a little bit more. But the absolute kicker that reduces the game a notch or two ? no link cable option. In a fighter, it's an absolute must to include some sort of two player option. I know that a link cable mode was planned, but here we are, final cartridges in hand, link cable at the ready, and no two player option. One player modes can only go so far in fighting games ? we all know that fighters shine when battling a human over the computer AI, and Street Fighter Alpha loses its lastability simply because there's no way to play your buddy. And including a training mode just isn't enough to keep your interest for longer than a few minutes per play. But that doesn't mean the single player game isn't good. It is ? but only for brief moments of challenge. Without the random, unpredictable skills of your friend on the other controls, the game just loses its variety. SNK has nothing to worry about ? the NeoGeo Pocket Color and its huge library of fighters is the reigning champ in the portable fighting genre. You'll just have to imagine how annoyed and disappointed I was when I popped in two copies of Street Fighter Alpha into two systems, connected the link cable between them, and waited for the Vs. option to appear. Darn near had a fit right in my cubicle. The single player game is good, and really shows off Crawfish's Game Boy Color expertise, but the link cable omission makes me actually rethink how good a programming team Crawfish actually is. If you're going to tackle Street Fighter Alpha on the Game Boy Color, the first thing on people's minds is going to be "How's the two player?" Sadly, it's non-existent. I salute Crawfish and Capcom for excellently shoehorning an ambitious game into the Nintendo portable, but I just can't look the other way when the link cable is left out. (Undoubtadly the best fighter on the GBC)
『Forget all those horrible fighting game translations that hit the original GameBoy and GameBoy Color (most of them started with Mortal Kombat) and take a good long look and Capcom's 8-bit version of Street Fighter Alpha for the GBC. Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Charlie, Rose, Guy, Sodom, and Birdie; all of which look surprisingly faithful to their more powerful console bretheren, albeit some lacking animation and detail. Controls are surprisingly solid and the special moves will take time to pull off but once you do they're easy. The sound is mostly terrible and you'll want to turn down your GBC's volume, and the endings for each character are ridicuously cheesy, but the meat and bones of Street Fighter Alpha is the fighting itself, and that is where this comes out a winner. All in all, Street Fighter Alpha for the GBC may not be the best fighter to come along, but in the case of the GBC it reigns supreme.』

(GAME TIP!)
『to fight against akuma choose your character and hold the A and B button until the match starts your opponent will be akuma. to fight against bison choose your character then hold A,B and the select button until the match starts your opponent will be bison. it's a great game the only complaint is like what a gamer said it's a fix story line that your character gets to fight certain characters all the time for example if you play as ken the only characters you fight are guy, sodom, birdie, rose, charlie, chunli and ryu. everytime you play as ken you fight only those characters. it's just the same as the other players that you choose you will only get to fight certain opponents all the time which leads to boredome. and the endings are just writings that you will see your character talking to someone else in words. it's good but you will get bored pretty fast.』

(Kick, Block, and Punch!)
『The last great fighting game for Game Boy Color. Good graphics and the same great characters that made Street Fighter famous on the SNES are back in this fast-paced game! There is a practice mode where you can set your opponents skill rating. You'll need to practice your moves and special moves if you want to go to tournament mode! In tournament mode things are alot harder so you'll have to practice in practice mode. The graphics are great and the music is okay. Be sure to get this game!』

(THE BEST GAME BOY COLER FIGHTING GAME EVER)
『This is the best fighting game for game boy since I can remember. There are two complaints of mine. the first complaint is, the sound effects are awful, but the graphics are good, and the music is O.K. The other complaint is that there are only three game modes; Arcade mode, Training mode, and opsions. But I guess if you add the good and the bad things together, it comes out even. Bottom line. This game is fun and it tades only ten minuetes to beat on easy. Bottom line. This games teen rating, don't worry about it.』
『Nintendo Game Boy Color GBC Game: Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams game for the Nintendo Game Boy Color system, in excellent condition. Includes game cartridge only.』
『For players looking for a bite-sized version of the best fighting-game series, there is none better thanStreet Fighter Alphafor Game Boy Color. This miniaturized, full-color game brings eight characters to the arena, with famousStreet Fightercharacters Ken, Ryu, and Chun Li joining the fold.

The graphics are colorful and more detailed than you would expect from a Game Boy game; the characters in their signature costumes are especially well drawn and animated. Varied fighting environments also reflect the geographic locations of the battle, including Hong Kong and Tibet.

Street Fighter Alpha's gameplay, which is surprisingly solid considering the Game Boy only has two buttons, is fairly fluid. (The original game required six buttons for basic control and special moves.) Speaking of special moves,Street Fighter Alphahas plenty. With the right button and control combination, you'll master Ryu's dragon punch and other dangerous stunts. There are even supercombos you can discover--if you are up for the challenge. --Robb Guido

Pros:

  • Great miniaturization, from graphics to control, of the famous arcade fighter game
Cons:
  • Moves are more limited than in bigger version

(Really Great, but still Missing Something)
『I, too, have already seen these episodes and they're my favorite when it comes down to the Chunin Exam Arc. The only downside is the DVD itself. I ordered this DVD from Amazon's store, waited the week it took to get here, and received my package. To my disappointment, the DVD only said that it was in English and was the North American edited version. Now according to the product description, it says that the DVD is in both Japanese and English, and the disc is unrated. None of that is written ANYWHERE on my shipment. So I feel cheated out of my time and money. I know I come off as negative to a four-star rating post, but I only gave it four stars because of the episodes themselves, the disc's product details make it lose that 1 star. My only reason for buying this disc was to help replace my UNCUT box set (#4; disc 2). It was a defective disc, and I was outside my 30-day warranty to get it replaced. If anyone knows where else I can get this disc in Japanese&English and UNCUT, I would really appreciate it.』

『Super Mario Advance 4 is one of the better games made for the Game Boy Advanced. There are several features listed already on the product description which adds a neat dimension to this game. Unfortunately, I do not own a Game Boy Advanced but instead own a Game Boy DS. So this will be a review based on my experience with the DS

-=-=-=-=-

When I started playing the game, I found I was unable to use the additional features. But I was happy to see that this had two games on it. Super Mario Brothers 3 and the original Mario Brothers. SMB3 was a perfect port of the original...almost. The game play, additions, bonus stages, hidden areas...everything was just like the original. I only have two complaints about the game.

1. Mario's voice didn't add anything to the game. It was just something they threw on which just got annoying very quickly. There was no way to shut him up.

2. They changed the music for the end sequence. :-( I loved the music for the original ending. This was just something generic.

As for the original Mario Brothers...I had hours of fun playing it when I was a kid. This port was excellent. It was simple to play and easy to lose yourself in it. Don't be surprised when you find yourself running from crabs in order to live for another 2 seconds before getting fried by a fireball....sigh :-)』

(Great learning tool)
『I bought a gameboy before my daughter turned 2 hoping to keep her busy on a long plane ride. She enjoyed just pushing the buttons at that point and it kept her entertained for short periods of time. Now she is almost 2 1/2 and has mastered each and every Blues Clues Game and begs to play it every night before bedtime. It teaches the alphabet, motor skills, and memory. She can remember "hidden" letters better than my husband and I! She is very proud that she knows how to play the games, and loves to teach us adults how to play!』

(Excellent game for preschoolers!)
『In preparation for an overseas flight, I bought a Game Boy and three games for my 4 1/2 year old (with the intent of sharing with the 2 1/2 year old). Compared to the other games, the Blue Clues game had a number of excellent games, that TRULY involved pre-reading learning skills, and the graphics were colorful and engaging.

My 4 1/2 year old quickly understood the activities and stayed glued to the game, well, for the duration of the trip! (It was just what we needed). The 2 1/2 year old couldn't understand the "rules" but he was happy (for 15 minutes at a time) to just push buttons and watch Steve and his pals.

To the game's authors: Bravo!!! Job well done!!!』

(A terrific introduction to Gameboy for younger kids)
『I purchased this game for my son (age 4.5) for Christmas and am very pleased with it. I had been hesitant about introducing him to the Gameboy at this age, particularly since the games I have seen rely so heavily on violence or "levels" the player must reach to go on in the game. Blue's Clues is an exception. My son has no problem navigating the screens and I appreciate that the games start at a beginning level and only increase in difficulty as my son is successful with them. The games are too simple for my 7 year old but a great introduction for the younger set. (I agree with another reviewer that the sound is not terrific--it has a "buzzy quality"--but my son plays the game in the car with the sound off and still enjoys it.)』

(Very hard to hear and understand what they are saying)
『I cannot understand a word of what they are saying on this game! I think it is terrible. If I cannot hear or understand it, certainly my 3 year old cannot.』

(A fun and non-violent alternative)
『If you're concerned with the amount of violence introduced to children in most video games, this game is for you and your child. Blue's Clues Alphabet Book focuses on learning activities like letter recognition, memory skills, sequencing, and spelling. The game allows for free play, where a child can choose any game, or play the actual Blue's clues game, where the child can hunt for clues to the missing alphabet pages, just like the show. It is very easy and simple to follow so your child feels successful everytime. The graphic accuracy and color are surprisingly vivid for a gameboy color game. (If you've been able to see any of the games on this console, you know what I mean.)

My 3yr. 10 mo. old son loves this game. He was so excited when we presented it to him, we couldn't get him to stop long enough to eat. I, as his mom, feel better that there are people out there who make non-violent games like this one. As parents , any help we can get is welcome. I highly recommend this game for children 3 and up as a first game if you're contmeplating buying a gameboy color for your child.

A plus for moms and dads, take the gameboy and this game along when grocery shopping. It'll make waiting in line less stressful.(Maybe a little cheaper, they may not notice the candy on the impulse buy section.)』
Blue's Alphabet Bookis an early childhood game all the way, teaching small--and we stress small--children how to recognize their ABCs and spell basic words. It's done by way of six very simple games that shouldn't put too much strain on little brains.

Most of the games stress simple recognition of letters, such as a xylophone game, where the computer plays a sequence of lettered keys, which kids must duplicate. There's also a leaf game, where a basket is marked with a letter, which kids must use to catch a leaf with that same letter on it. Other games teach a bit more, such as a soup game that helps kids to spell small words, and a memory game that has them trying to remember which bubbles contain which letters.

Blue's Alphabet Bookcontains some fun music and a small amount of voice acting, but the youngest children will need a parent to help them name the letters and sound out the words they spell. In other words, little ones should be able to play this title alone, but will absorb more with the help of an older onlooker.--Robb Guido

Pros:

  • Colorful graphics
  • Games will help kids come to recognize their ABCs
Cons:
  • Few voice samples

(Xena WP Gameboy Review...great game)
『Xena Gameboy Review

I had known for some time this game existed, but it is hard to find and it took me quite a while to get a copy. It is for Gameboy Color, and I played it using Gamecube with Gameboy Player. It's pretty to look at, with only a small frame of color around the edge; for the ease and beauty you get, the gameboy player is well woth the fifty dollar price tag.

Now it IS Gameboy and so cannot compare to say X-Box. If you get past that expectation you will be fine otherwise you likely will be disapointed. With these graphics and gameplay I place the game somewhere between Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64--which when considering the small size of the Gameboy cartridge is quite amazing. The small screen size and controls take a little getting used to as well.

Xena awakens to find herself still in a dream; Morpheus the sleep god has been imprisoned and Xena must walk through her dream world and find him and release him to get out of her dream.

The game can't really compare to Xena Playstation but there are similarities. Neither game is merely whack and slash; Xena travels through various world levels to fight battles, solve puzzles, and over come obstacles to finally reach the end battle and enemy (Kalabrax in Playstation and Darpheus and his entourage in Gameboy). In many ways Xena for Gameboy resembles the third Zelda (for Super Nintendo). In both games Xena uses a sword AND chakram.

The music is passable and resembles the midi music of Super Nintendo. I found 14 different tracks for a total of about 25 minutes...really amazing for such a tiny cartridge. None of the characters actually SPEAK, they communicate all in text.

Hercules makes no appearance in this game either and this time neither does Gabrielle. The only real recognizable characters are Darpheus (an enemy of Xena's from early episodes of the TV show) Joxer, and Morpheus who also appeared in an early epsiode of the TV series that actually mostly focused around Gabrielle. There is one hint of Xena's evil past (in the Barbarian's village) unlike Xena for Playstation which has no such reference.

Short description of some gameplay and localities:

Find sword
Get honey for the sleeping bear
Visit Fates and get your chakram
Get the Gloves
Go through the Maze; get the Salamander Boots along the way
Get the Conch Shell while visiting the fairies
Go to the Forest of Stone and rescue Queen Lalala the first time
Defeat the Wasp boss
Go to the Barbarian's village behind the volcano and to the Centaur's village
Rescue some residents and perform some tasks in each village
Go to the temple and defeat the Eye Boss and then Darphus
Go see the Fates and retrieve the stolen Lyre from Joxer
Return to the Fates and have the Centaur's curse lifted
Go to the Forest of Stone, climb the great tree and defeat the Harpie Boss to rescue Queesn Lalala the second, and final, time
Go to the Swamps and walk the lily pad path
Swim the castle moat
Defeat the castle guards and then the kitchen chefs
Defeat the ghosts and free Morpheus

There are various underground shortcuts to take which lead you to levels; one leads to a 'communication device' which presumably is for the links between two players.

Unlike Lara in Tomb Raider, Xena in Playstation, and Rynn in Drakan who have their hair in pony tails, Xena in Gameboy has her hair loose and flowing.

You begin your game with four heart containers, three lives, and zero diamonds. You can collect more heart containers, heart refills (good for one use each) and diamonds which you need to save your game and to bribe characters for information and clues. This is one of the few video games out there you can get through without a strategy guide (I had to because I didn't have one) but still it has some challenges. I forgot to keep track of the gameplay but I'm guessing it was twenty hours or so not counting the one place I had trouble for awhile...the kitchen...which apparently is a common place for players to get stuck. This is from the strategy guide I created:

"If you kill all three chefs, the door will not open. Kill the first two chefs that come at you, but stay near the door. Then go left UP or north, to the top of the room, teasing the third chef to follow you. Do not touch this chef. Just make him follow you. Go right across the top of the table, then down toward the door, making sure the chef follows you. You might take a hit or two from the food he is throwing at you. Approach the door with the chef behind you. The door will open and so step through it.If the door doesn't open, you will have to backtrack to the guardroom, whack the four guards again, then go to the kitchen and try again with the chefs, as many times as you have to repeat this to get the door to open."

There was supposedly a 'Hercules the Legendary Journeys' Gameboy companion game to this, with a two-player option but if anyone has actually SEEN, owned or played the game I would sure love to know about it.』

IPhone 3G used's review
(Addictive but sometimes too easy)
『I love the game of Monopoly on the board as well as the gameboy game. But after a few times of playing it on gameboy, I found strategies that made it almost impossible to lose. The only thing that makes me keep playing it trying to get the most amount of net worth at the end of the game. I usually play it when I need something to do for a half hour or so. I would be good to take to jury duty.』

(One of the best video games ever!)
『I recieved Monopoly as a gift and have had a time trying to stop playing it! It is a lot of fun. I like the fact that you can play against another player(s), or play against the computer. I also like the fact that instead of just passing on buying a property, you either buy it or auction it, so the other player can have a chance to buy it, even though the starting prices are always very, very cheap. The graphics are very specific, also. Also, you can have a chance to raise money by selling or trading properies, money, or houses or hotels if you go bankrupt during the game. You can also have a set time limit if you want to play for a certain amount of time. Overall, Monopoly is an excellent game I would recommend to anybody!』

(PLEASANT)
『I love playing Monopoly and can destroy anyone who challenges me. But what do I do when [others] are too scared to play me? I play this. I wasn't sure if this would be good or bad and was suprised it was not that bad. Still, it is a bit easy but when yur board this will take up some time. I prefer playing the real version but this game is pleasant.』

(I Love Monopoly!)
『I must admit to being very much into monopoly. I have a late 1930's addition. I have many different versions of Monopoly. I think the game is great but for one thing... I have figured how to get past the computer players. I won't spoil it for you :o} However, I still love to play the gameboy version. If you love Monopoly I would get the game. You will have many great hours of fun!』

(Frustrating and FUN!)
『At the recommendation of a friend, I bought Monopoly for Gameboy Color and it is just as fun and frustrating as the board game. It has several pre-set scenarios, and lets you play an unlimited time or a timed game. You can select 8 computer opponents with different styles of play. The animated Chance and Community Chest cards are wonderful and the music and graphics are great. I love the animated tokens, the dog runs, the horse gallops, I won't say what the car does; You'll enjoy the surprise when you see for yourself. It's frustrating because it seems like the game plays in favor of the computer opponent, rarely landing on your property. The game only has 8 of the 11 current tokens in the current game, but these complaints are minor; this is a great game! Get it; it's more fun to play with friends! (Now if they could only come out with the Monopoly Deluxe for Gameboy Color ...』
『The classic board game of property management, MONOPOLY, comes to the Game Boy Color. Choose from a wide array of tokens including the car, boot, thimble, and dog. When you get out on the board, your goal is to buy three properties of the same color. When another player lands on your property, he or she must pay you rent. Eventually, you will want to improve your property with houses and hotels so you can charge higher rents. The ultimate goal of the game is to drive all of the competition into bankruptcy. The Game Boy Color edition features all of the classic MONOPOLY gameplay and high stakes. There are eight variations of the game you can play: The Big Boys, Trader's Delight, Even Steven, Small Stuff, Money Isn't Everything, Short and Sweet, Building Shortage, and It's a Start. If you don't get this game, you will not be able to pass "Go" or collect $200.』
