It had some issues with network scanning and dropping jobs so I was happy to find a firmware update in July.
Unfortunately, there is a typo in the example indicating that L4 date code is April 2007 when in fact it is April 2006.
The instructions say to apply the firmware to all printers before March 2008 with a warning underneath not to apply it to 2006 printers.
Long story short, it still prints, the other functions work better, graphics print fine or better, but text looks like it is in bold.
Since the warranty is expired, diagnostics cost $80 with the total repair $80 to $160 if they can reflash the firmware and more if they have to replace the main board.

(Great color laser multifunction, especially at this price point.) 『It almost seems like there are two groups -- those who love this printer and those who hate it. I am in the former camp. I bought it as a replacement for my inkjet and I have been using it for several months, mostly for color prints initially. In the meantime, my trusty HP LaserJet IIIp finally died after nearly 20 years -- they don't make 'em like that anymore. So now I'm using it for both color and monochrome printing.
I've had none of the problems with the waste toner collector that people have mentioned -- it's still almost empty and I would guess should last through about 10 sets of toner cartridges at this rate -- make sure you follow the setup instructions and properly adjust the altitude setting.
Nor have I had any problems with misfeeding that some people have mentioned. One thing to note: if you're printing a page double sided, you have to flip up the clear plastic cover on the paper tray and place the page(s) in there to print the other side -- even if it's only one page, you can't just put it in the manual feed slot (the slot just above the paper tray) to print the second side or it will give you a feed error.
The unit has lots of features: network scanning, scan to email, scan to or print from memory stick, booklet printing, n-up printing, poster printing, etc. Read the manual on the PDF file to get the most out of the unit.
The SyncThru web service gives lots of information and I am on track to get better than the claimed 1500 pages from the black starter toner cartridge and just a little less than the 700 page claim for the starter color cartridges, so I am satisfied with the consumables so far. At the amazon.com prices for new cartridges, that's going to be 2.4 cents/page for black and 11 cents/page for color -- comparable to HP color LaserJets and a whole lot cheaper than the Ink Jet I had previously.
About the only problem I've had is that it sometimes loses the internal date/time that is uses for the FAX if you turn off the power switch in the back. Overall, I am satisfied with the unit and recommend it.』
(Good all-in-one machine, just very bulky.) 『I bought this all-in-one printer for my business, needed something that would do a variety of things, mainly print and fax. I kept looking at different manufacturers and what they offered and after determining that Samsung was the better option (we own several samsung products and are suppose to have very good customer support etc) we bought this one.
I've had it for about 6 months now and so far its been a great machine. It does everything I need for my basic business stuff. I had trouble with the scanner at first, but once I got that figured out it works just fine. Fax works great, however have a bit of trouble getting it to answer fax calls automatically thanks to voicemail set up on the same line. Printer is great also, it has extremely little bleeding in colors. I've found some papers work better than others but overall it works very well (had trouble with the ink printing certain labels in color, might be due to the particular paper perhaps?).
The only negative thing I can think of for this product is the bulkiness of it, its a HUGE machine, in fact we bought it after investing in a new computer desk (executive desk size) and it still takes up more than 1/3 of the desk. But its one of these things I've come to find that I can not live without now, so its worth the space.
I think you will be very pleased. The "starter ink" is very long lasting, I thought most printers give you just enough ink to get started, so I immediately went out and bought some new toner cartridges. Well I'm on my second pack of papers (both stacks have been about 500 sheets) and its still half full. Cartridges can get expensive but I love the design of each color being in a separate cartridge, that way if I only run out of magenta then I can replace just magenta and not a cartridge which still has plenty of the other colors.
I think you will love this machine if you got it, just don't be shocked, it is huge and bulky but a good machine. Customer support has been great when we needed them (first setting it up). 』
(Disaster -- Stay Away) 『Bought this model in December, 2007. Have had nothing but trouble since then. Paper jams and open/close door problems prevent even the simplest printing jobs. Toner cartridges are expensive and the waste toner cartridge fills out quickly, despite limited use. This is a flawed design and the Samsung support is polite, but not qualified or dedicated enough to resolve the basic design problem. I am considering trashing the entire printer right now and going back to an old standby, like HP.』

(Quite disappointing to me) 『Picture quality, construction quality, Night Vision, and Field of Vision are all a letdown and I returned it right away. For the price, I suppose this is still a good "deal", but if you want an excellent quality Dome Camera with decent Night Vision, superb build quality, and a wide angle view look at the unit labeled "vandal proof dome camera", also from Amazon. It is more expensive, but has a VERY hefty and sturdy feel to it. Range of IR is greater and MUCH less granulated, resolution in daytime is fantastic, and one unit in the corner of a square room or backyard can cover nearly everything. This product may be adequate for some applications, just be aware that it is very low-end. (I suppose I should give credit that it also includes audio, but given that this is advertised as an "indoor camera" one would wish for a much wider field of vision.) 』

I can see 15 feet at night with about 5 feet of shadow images. the only thing is in order to see from afar you can't mount it on the ceiling. If you mount it on the ceiling the object or scene your watching has to be at least 10 feet away. I hooked it up under my open garage on the side top wall and works flawlessly. My garage is 2 cars wide and I can see in the shade very clearly about 35 feet but when it hits out of the shade the screen gets whiter and whiter. In high noon screen is white out of the shade. I WILL BUY MORE IN THE FUTURE........』

(Pleased with full PCL 5 support) 『When searching for a color laser our main concern and criteria was finding one that had full support for PCL 5. This is increasingly difficult to find. We needed it to have FULL support for PCL5 so that it would be compatible with some older universe/unix programs that we already had and didn't want to have to re-write. We had previously tried a different HP laserjet (1022n) which said it had PCL 5e support, and after testing it we found that it didn't support all of the commands and did not work with our existing software. So we had our fingers crossed when we ordered the CP3505 and we have not been disappointed. This printer worked perfectly and seems to work with all of the PCL 5 commands that we have tried so far. We are pleased with its performance printing from Windows as well, and have had no problems with it on our network print server.
