(Old Tech .. Poor Performance) 『The biggest problem is that the early etrex units (of which this is one) are very low powered. Garmin has upgraded their low end units with an H so you will see the HCx instead of Cx, they are "higher sensitivity". They should have just put an L on the Cx, and called it Lower Sensitivity. I've been very disapointed in the quality of the transmission in a car, compared to Magellan and my Garmin GPS V. These are discontinued for a reason, they don't work very well.
NOTE: If you want maping, you must spend another $100.00 or so for mapping software (either Topo or Streets). So add that to your expense when looking for a low end Geocaching GPS.』

Very good for hiking and the like. I mainly use the trip computer functions and the CX is much more consistent and stable for trip data out in the open. Apart from the chips the units are identical. Buy the less sensitive but cheaper CX for canoeing, biking etc. Get the HCX for built up areas and when you don't need an accurate speedo』

You can use the Legend Cx's memory card slot with preprogrammed microSD cards from Garmin (sold separately) that provide topographic maps, city streets, and nautical charts. In fact, the unit is compatible with most Garmin MapSource products, including BlueChart, City Navigator, U.S. Topo 24K, and U.S. Topo and Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots. The unit comes preloaded with an Americas autoroute basemap that provides automatic routing capabilities, including highways, exits, and tide data. You can even get turn-by-turn directions when you're driving, and an integrated trip computer provides odometer, stopped time, moving average, overall average, total time, max speed, and more.
As on all eTrex units, the primary controls are located on the side of the unit, so you can operate it with one hand. An innovative rocker switch on its face makes inputting data easy, and with it you can scroll through menus or pan the map page. Fast USB connectivity makes loading charts and maps quick and easy, while navigation instructions can be shared with repeaters, plotters, and autopilots using NMEA protocols through the dedicated serial port. Uh..... wait, there seems to be one missing from the pack, the black cartridge (the one you use probably the most of all). The reason I purchased this ink cartridge pack was because I was OUT of black ink. I thought I was getting a fresh start on my printing projects again only to realize I still had to buy black ink. Had I known this I probably would not have bought this product. I could have just purchased the back locally and not had to put my projects off until the package arrived. (These 77 cartridges hold SO much more ink!) 『I have an Epson R-380 High Definition Printer that use Claria inks. The printer ships with the 78 cartridges and provided excellent results but were short lived. Then I discovered the 77 high capacity cartridges on the Epson website and found that they held a full 60% more ink. Now these cartridges are available on Amazon and I would highly recommend them.
Certainly they are more expensive but you'll have the luxury of more ink and you'll end up spending less on inks in the long run. You'll still find that the yellow and light magenta seem to be used the most. The ability to replace 6 completely separate ink cartridges as you need them is a very nice thing. I have a professional HP 8700 and love the results but all the 7 inks are contained in 3 cartridges and when just one of the inks in the cartridges is empty, you have to replace the whole cartridge with some inks remaining that you must recycle or toss. You never know how much ink you're throwing away.
Please note that for some reason, the 76 and 77 multi packs don't include a black cartridge, which must be purchased separately.
