Thanks to the reviews, I knew exactly what to expect and have not experienced any problems. We use it primarily as a message center, phone and fax. The fax quality is superb both going and coming as is the voice quality of the speaker phone. It has a neat feature of automatically cleaning the print heads every week. It might intrigue some who have not read the manual as it sounds like a fax is coming in. I told my wife that it was monitoring everything she did and was sending me a secret report. BAD! For cat owners, the clear fold-down paper support flap acts as a protective shield over the number pad to prevent the little buggers from speed dialing 911 during their midnight romps. It also keeps dust out when not in use. A few local restaurants we frequent have this unit at their register. Upon inquiring, none have mentioned a problem. The Brother IntelliFax-1960C cartridge system is certainly a giant step up from the dinosoar faxes that use the expensive rolls of carbon film. What a mess that was. Many forget customer support when buying electronics. I contacted Brother support twice just checking. They passed with flying colors. 』

(Did not meet my expectations...) 『I have been using Brother products for several years and I must say this one was a huge disappointment...
Here's why : 1- The machine literally spits out whatever paper it is printing (whether fax, print report or photocopy) and instead of leaving it on the tray, it ends up on the floor. Bad design ? 2- Message center is faulty. As said by another reviewer, Brother can't seem to get it right because it records everything from a call. By that I mean that if the caller hangs up, the machine doesn't cut the incoming signal like it should and as most answering machines do. This is why you end up with those long tuuut-tuuuut-tuuuut-tuuuut-tuuuut-tuuut-tuuuut....or even the operator's recorded message "if you'd like to make a call, please hang up and dial again". What ? I was the one they called ! 3- This one doesn't have a scanner, so forget about having an all-in-one if you choose this machine. Besides, what's the use of a colour copy option if you don't have the scanner ? 4- I found the wireless phone to be less accurate than the corded one on my previous model, the 2440. Besides, I have issues with all the wireless phones because they "die" when the electricity goes out and they do not grant you any "reasonable expectation of privacy". Without getting into too many details, the fact is that anybody with a little skill can hook up to your conversation in all impunity. Not a problem if you don't care, but if you are in the middle of a contract discussion or talking to a client, you might think twice about using a wireless, just in case.
In short, I got this model because it is a Brother, because of its reasonable price, its compact aspect, and the advertised savings on cartridges because they are separated from each other (machine supposedly doesn't stop working if one cartridge is empty, still have to find out if it is true though). I returned it because of the 4 negatives after two weeks of use.』

(Good, but....) 『It's obviously a product that isn't up to the real canon standards. The ink and presentation is fine in black, but it smears when you highlight anything. Meaning my highlighter is ruined and I've got black ink running across the page. When printing there are signs of wispy ink traces too. It's a fine product for basic page printing. Nothing wrong with it. But if you're doing resume building, or need something for a presentation, I'd say go with the real canon ink, and not this brand. For as cheap as it is, it's great for the basics.

This has been a truly reliable printer which is networked to 3 computers at home. I noticed that jams were more likely to occur with unsual stock paper if you do not tell the printer what you are using. Pages printed included mailing address labels, envelopes and certificates.
The print quality is first class. The duplex feature ( double sided printing is truly first rate and reduces your paper consumption). I am truly very satisfied. Buy this printer and expand your world.』
(Quicker, but blows thru toner) 『I like the quality of the prints and the convenience of both the networking and the duplex. The speed is pretty decent and the thing hardly ever jams.
What I do not like, however is the toner usage. Several people at HP are putting kids through college on what this thing uses. Be ready to buy a ton of replacements.
The other bother is it just stops when it thinks it is out of toner, even though you can still get 25-50 more prints out of it before needing to replace them. It goes through more expensive toner faster than my previous Minolta Magicolor.
It seems like a deal, but the consumables are quick to go out. I find I get 1000 prints with moderate pages (I publish my clubs newsletter) before they run out.
If cost is no object on that front, everything else is flawless. I have yet to have a jam and I print lables and 800 sheets a month, and duplexing is great.』

(Not Good for Designers) 『CON: This printer is terribly slow. Especially if you are sending color documents from any Adobe Creative Suite program. Often, the printer will fail to print the document at all. I even expanded the memory to 128 MB, but this did nothing to speed the printer up.
Do not purchase this printer if you are planning on printing from any program other than, say, Word or PowerPoint, but heck - that's slow as molasses as well. My Epson inkjet is twice as fast even on a black and white documents printed from Word.

IPhone 3G used's review (Not as neat as I thought they would be...) 『I just bought a laptop with Lightscribe, and I had never seen or used Lightscribe before. I bought these cds and tried them. The blue one didn't work that well, the image it burned was very light in some places- it didn't burn evenly. They are not as neat looking as I was hoping for. I have not tried any other Lightscribe cd brands since then, so I don't know if it is just my laptop, the cds, or just the way Lightscribe is.』
(Beautiful Colors, Works like a charm) 『I bought a set of these Memorex Cool Colors LightScribe CDs about two months ago. Unlike other reviewers of these new color LightScribe media, I have not noticed any fading in the burned images, even after two months. (I messed up on on of the red CDs, so I burned a test image on the label and have really mistreated this CD, left in the sun, found it under a couch. I've noticed no deterioration in the color...) One thing to note, the do seem to get a "film" over the label image soon after being burned. I don't know what this is... I do wish they would sell them in single color packs, though. I find the yellow, red and green (in that order) CDs have better contrast with the burned images than the blue/turquoise CD. (I bought on "opened" pack, and someone had switched out all the orange for red...) One thing to note, make sure you have the most up-to-date LightScribe software. I know there was a new release in Dec 07, and it has a new LightScribe Control Panel where you can adjust the contrast to burn a darker image. This has really helped. These really do make beautiful CDs.』
