『well i guess this review if based on the printer and the ink . they are great as far as color is concerned .but they run out pretty fast and they are very expensive. we use them for business. we print mostly black and white and rarely use color. but the color somehow runs out as if it mixes in with the black . we were not able to use the printer after the magenta ran out , when we put the magenta in it informed us that all the other colors ( not the black, since we replaced it a week before ) were out and we could not use the printer till we replaced them all .. somehow i think its a scam with hp , but im not an expert on manufacturing ..』

『If you don't print primarily COLOR documents, DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. I purchased the HP Color Laserjet 2600n as an alternative to cheap inkjet printers which use way too much ink. I knew the cartridges were expensive ($85.00 per) but with the yield of each cartridge I thought it was worth it. I also made the assumption that because I used the printer primarily for black ink documents that my color cartridges would last a lot longer than my black cartridge...WRONG. I called HP Technical support for a minor issue. I spoke with Tania. Tania told me that this is primarily a color printer, therefore, when you print a document which only uses black ink, the printer assumes you're also using the color cartridges, so it is using up the color cartridges at the same rate. There's only one catch, when the printer tells you that you have to replace the color cartridges, most likely there is still a LOT of toner left in the cartridge. When I became incredulous, she laughed at me. Eventually I was transferred to Gali, in Customer Care. I was also on the phone at the same time with another woman but they wouldn't give me her name. They confirmed MANY TIMES exactly what Tania told me. So many times during my conversation I said "I just have such a hard time believing that I will be forced to replace FULL CARTRIDGES!" and every time there reply was something to the effect of, I understand Ma'am, but there's nothing we can do, the machine is not defective. If I were you I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PRINTER.

Now, since this experience, i've learned the following; (haven't tried yet, other's have and said it works)

Here is how to solve problem;
Cartridge Out Override can only be enabled from the printer's control panel menu.
1. From the main menu, press (RIGHT ARROW) to System Setup and press (SELECT).
2. Press (RIGHT ARROW)to Print Quality and press (SELECT).
3. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Replace supplies and press (SELECT).
4. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Override Out and press (SELECT).
5. Press (SELECT).
If Stop at out is selected, the printer will stop printing when a cartridge reaches the recommended replacement point. If Override out is selected, the printer will continue printing when a cartridge reaches the recommended replacement point. The factory default setting is Stop at out.

I have to say, I got this remedy on another website. I spent over an hour on the phone with HP and they did not give me this solution. They did give me an override solution that they told me would stop working after 2 weeks. (not sure what that was all about)

It's a shame that HP can't just charge what the printers are worth and let us pay for the toner that we USE.』

『I bought the HP2600N with a little trepidation. The price was so low that I was afraid that there was a "catch"--that either it jammed a lot, was too slow, or had some other fault. It was not the case.

This has been a very rugged little workhorse for my light to medium duty needs. It is adequately fast at 8PPM for the needs of my home law office. I use the 2600N mainly in conjunction with wordprocessing and the reproduction of scanned documents in TIFF format. The 2600N has been a solid performer in this regards. The 16MB of on-board RAM, while not a lot, seems to be more than adequate for relatively fast printing of scanned documents and photos. HP seems to have kept the price down on this little beast by carefully engineering just how much of a feature is needed to make the overall device perform smartly. I am very pleased with the 2600N.

Incidentally, this unit is network-ready. Hard to believe for the price.

Overall, this is a solid performer that is available at an exceptionally reasonable price if one shops around a bit.』

I tested out reception from 3 different places. Inside my home, along the open waterfront area of New York Bay, and within the city amongst the skyscrapers. All were equally poor in quality.

In the days when you convert video to an iPod format (yes I know it's not live TV) that is crystal clear, and awesomely bright, this thing seems as quaint as a spinning wheel. Granted, it might be ok in a hurricane or emergency situation, but if the signal really will drop all together in a year or two, when they switch over to full hi-def, this is no more than a paper weight waiting to happen. 『I bought this for an aging Epson Stylus Photo 870 that is only used for general duty printing now.
For some reason it requires you to snap a piece with a chip on it onto the main body of the cartridge. I'm thinking this is a patent workaround. It's not obvious which way it goes on so it requires a pictorial instruction sheet. It took me about 2 mins to figure out. After assembly, it drops into the printer like a regular Epson cartridge. While it worked right away, about a week into use the printer thought there was no ink left. Taking it out of the printer and putting it back in seems to have solved the problem. I think it was bad contact with the chip.
For the amount of money saved vs. a genuine Epson cartridge, it is perfectly acceptable for printing color web pages on plain paper. I haven't tried it for photos on glossy paper, but I'm also not planning to.』

(HP Redefined the word, Amazing)
『If you know the tools that HP made back in the 70's, Hewlett-Packard was a sort of "PhD's Club". You basically had to have a Graduate Physics or Engineering degree, and employed by the likes of NASA to understand the technical expertise and solid reputation for some of the smartest tools on the planet, made by HP. But the HP K5400 OfficeJet Pro Color Printer is a real testament to HP's reputation, and certainly holds back that HP reputation.

1) Should not be labeled, "Pro". It's barely legal to say it even works properly. Nearly every print job has issues, in my experience.

2) Goes through Ink madly. This consumption rate is higher than the older K550 I had replaced with the K5400 Pro.

3) Very loud. It actually scared people in the room, and is a true disturbance if you're on the phone while it's printing nearby.

4) Ink clots quickly if idle for a few weeks. It's cheaper to replace the printer than the heads.

5) Cheap price, but I'd rather buy something a little pricier with less frustration.

Canon and Epson seem to have printer driver issues and very poor customer service, and although HP rocks in the Laser world, they need some rethinking in the lower-end consumer lines.』

『I bought this printer because I was told it has the lowest cost per page printed (about 1.5 cents per page). That is absolute hogwash! After about 100 pages printed in draft mode black only, it ran out of yellow ink. About 50 pages later it ran out of magenta ink. Aparently it uses color ink for head cleaning and when printing in black mode only. It stops printing when you are out of any color ink. After about 700 pages printed (draft mode, black only) I am on my third color combo pack at $39.99/pack. That is 17.14 cents per page for color cartridges only and not the 1.5 cents I was told. If I add the cost of the black cartridge, the cost is over 20 cents/page. This printer is an ink hog and I would not recommend it to anybody! HP is laughing all the way to the bank when someone buys one of these printers.』

『I bought this printer specifically because it has separate cartridges for each ink color. Figured that would save money. Wrong. Every time I went to print something, the printer would spend over 10 minutes "cleaning the print heads", generally by blowing lots of ink through them. The Macintosh driver software is also buggy and convoluted. Keep away.』

『Bought this printer ten months ago and have run more than 50,000 pages through it. So far it has been a very economical business printer, but now a few issues are causing me to reconsider the value.
1) The "cover open" message frequently appears when no cover is open. This pauses printing and requires input to resume. No set it and forget it.
2) The duplex unit has never worked well. It constantly misfeeds paper at about a 10% rate. Very frustrating, costly, and time consuming.
3) The cyan printer head is gone and new ones run about $60. The black&yellow will probably need replacement soon, also.
I like the low cost for ink, especially since I installed an aftermarket continuous-feed system, but will have to decide if it is worth spending $120 to replace this 5400 with a new one.

『This business card scanner exceeded my expectations. Before I ordered it, I looked at some of the cards I get. The endless variety of card styles, colors, fonts, etc seem to make the idea of scanning a card, and extracting the data to be near impossible. Amazingly this scanner does a good job of getting most of the data correct. I get an average of probably 20-30 cards a week. This scanner saves me a lot of repetitive data entry that I really dread. Is it perfect? No. I check each scan for inaccuracies, but the few errors I get, are far easier to correct than entering the entire card by hand. If you enter a lot of business cards into a database, then get this scanner. Realize though that no scanner can pull all the information from a card without inaccuracies.』

『Great tv! still figuring out all the bells and whistles, love the matte screen perfect for my bright livingroom....dont count on the white glove delivery tho, its kind of a joke. I had a fellow about 72 tried to deliver my tv. He got it off the truck which took awhile btw, but then i used his cart and brought it up the driveway to the front door myself where i signed the bill and he left. I dragged it in the house and unboxed it and set it up myself. While it didnt take alot of effort, dont let amazon blow smoke about its "white glove delivery service".』

『I really like this TV, actually. But I'm sending it back. It's not for me.

The allure of this TV was the fact that it's a matte-version of the 650... However, I recently found out, it isn't. This is a 120mhz version of the 550. This uses an older processor than the 650. I'm a bit disappointed by that, and the lack of an extra HDMI port. The PQ isn't as stunning as the 650, predominately because of the older processor, not because of the semi-matte finish.

However. Glossy does give you better blacks. This TV has pretty grey-colored blacks, which annoys me. It also suffers from clouding/flashlighting, unlike the 650 I've used.

I did buy this version because I wanted to avoid reflections... I also bought the 650 for my Mom. Her TV is just plain out nicer. The reflections? Not a big difference. You see the reflections on both TV's. This one just diffuses them with the semi-matte. But you can still see yourself during dark scenes! It's just not as clear.

Compared to the 650, the difference between glare is minimal. It's there, but minimal. You see yourself either way, might as well get the better picture!

My opinion? If you REALLY hate glare, then the 630 is for you. However, if you're just WORRIED about glare... Go with the 650. You will be much happier in the long run.

This TV, the 630, is a great TV. I just feel like, for the money, you're not getting the 'newest' tech. Samsung treats their matte-users like second-rate customers, and for good reason: People prefer glossy. Might as well go glossy, and have the best technology, rather than having something older with matte. I do believe matte can give an outstanding picture... Samsung just doesn't think it's worth their time.

Honestly: If this TV is for a living room with a large window, then godspeed. It's for you. If this TV is for any other situation, then the 650 is probably your choice.』

『Chose this TV over the samsung LN46A650 because of the semi-matte finish and because it has less red around edge. The semi-matte is great, only see any reflection in extremely direct light. The red "Touch of Color" is almost non-existant on this model, you really have to get close to see that there's any red at all. Picture is amazing with HD, bluray, PS3, and even SD channels are better than I expected. Swiveling pedestal also a nice touch, makes it easy for me to get behind it and swap out connectors (HDMI, component, etc all work great). If I had one negative about the TV it would be that I have yet to find programming (HD or otherwise) that really benefits from the Auto Motion Plus 120hz feature. After a few minutes I turned it off, tried using it (low, medium, high, auto) again randomly with bluray, videogames and sports, but always end up turning it off again. It just can't seem to interpolate the frames to maintain consistent onscreen motion and is EXTREMELY annoying. It DOES do better with Bluray, but I still don't see any way that I would keep it turned on.
Still, this TV is incredible and deserves five stars (I didn't buy it because of the 120hz feature). Also, I recommend you buy cheap HDMI cable. I bought a couple $5 HDMI's online and there's no discernible difference between them and more expensive ones.』

(630 or 650 or 550?)
『After reading reviews in Cnet and Consumer Reports, and feedback from owners on the AVS board, I knew I wanted to get a Samsung LCD. But which one? The 550, 630 and 650 are all highly rated, and all fell within my price range.

I first looked at the 550. Great TV and the lowest price. The picture quality was top-notch, but it did not have the 120hz technology and Samsung's smoothing system (called AMP) to reduce motion judder. In side-by-side viewing, I could see a difference in the picture with those features, and, since the price difference was not much, decided to move up to the 6-series.

Keep in mind that 120hz and AMP are two different things. You can turn AMP off (or set it to low, medium or high); you can't turn off 120hz unless you are in game mode. I like AMP set at low -- to my eye, that improves the picture without making it too smooth and video-like.

Both the 650 and 630 are fantastic TVs, and either one would be a great choice. The major difference between the two is the glassiness of the screen - the 650 has a high gloss screen; the 630 has a matte screen (basically the same as the 550, but with a tiny bit more gloss). I have a very bright living room with lots of windows. The 650 acted like a mirror, reflecting everything to the point of being seriously distracting -- you can see yourself in the screen in dark scenes. The 630 was the perfect compromise -- better quality picture than the 550, but far less gloss than the 650.

The advantage of the glossy screen is that it give more "pop" and saturation to the picture. Colors are deeper, blacks are richer, and the overall picture quality is a bit better. If I was using the TV in a darker environment (such as a basement), I'd go for the 650. But given the brightness of the room, the 630 was (for me) the better choice.

I've been told the sound quality in the 6-series is a bit better than the 5-series. That was not an issue for me since I turn off the TV speakers and run the sound through a receiver. If you plan on using the TV speakers you may want to listen to both sets to see if you hear a difference.

Very pleased with the set so far. You need to do a bit of tweaking to get the picture perfect, but the menus make it easy to do so. You can find configuration setups on several boards that will help point you in the right direction.

Other pluses of the 630 are the more muted Touch of Red in the bezel. I'm not a big fan of the red color, so having it less visible is a plus. Very nice remote with easy to find buttons.

I'm using the set with a Denon 1909 receiver, an Oppo 983H DVD player, and KEF 3000 series speakers. Everything works great together and I'm continually wowed by how great it looks and sounds.』
