However, the packaging is a nightmare to get through. I have mixed feelings every time a supply of inks arrives as I know it will be a long time before I slice/slash through the plastic wraps to get at the product I need.

Especially for a store like Amazon, it should be easy enough for Canon to dispense with the extra 'pilfer proof' plastic.』

『I only use Canon ink for my Multipass MP360 and this is the way to purchase it. 2 black + one color is the right combination and saves significant $ over buying separately.』

『I like that there are two black ink cartridges packed with only one color. Why, because most people, including myself will use more black ink than color ink over a period of time. On average, I will go through two black cartridges, give or take a little, before one color ink is used up.』

『Amazon.com has one of the lowest prices for this product. Office depot also sells this product online for $[...], but watch out - if you go to the retail store they have it priced for $[...]. I mentioned this price discrepancy to the checkout clerk who was nice enough to verify the online price on the store computer and honor the $[...] price.
The only reason that I am giving this product **** is because the ink tanks, especially the black, get used up pretty quickly. And good luck with the check/clean print nozzle function, because that will drain the ink tanks even faster.
But don't substitute - don't use the generic brands. I had been using the Office Depot brand. I was paying less for the generic ink and the print quality was the same as the Canon inks. But then my printhead nozzle started clogging up. A whole series of nozzle clean funtions were unsuccessful - I went through one color ink and two black ink tanks while doing that. Somebody told me to pull out the printhead and let it soak in about 1/2 inch of warm water in a bowl for a few hours. The clog in the printhead did not go away. I called Canon to find out the price of a new printhead and was shocked to find out that the printhead would cost me more than the price I had paid for the printer itself. Somebody else told me that the clog could be because of the crappy Office Depot ink. So I bought the Canon ink package, did the nozzle clean test a couple of times, and, no more clogs! That was a year ago. Have been buying only Canon ink since and keeping away from generics. Print quality is good.
Bottomline - Use brand name inks, pay more, but most likely avoid printhead problems; or buy Office Depot/Staples store brand inks, pay less, but possibly end up with a headache.』

『I like to hike and backpack, and a friend recently turned me on to geocaching. After a lot of research, and I mean A LOT, I decided to go with the Vista hCX because it seemed to do everything in a small compact unit. The unit is pretty rugged, apparently waterproof (although I don't want to find out) and has a great color screen.

First the user interface has a TON of features but it's not terribly intuitive. I have to say I'm pretty quick to learn technology like this, and I didn't have much trouble learning how to do all of the things I want to do with this. The only complaint with the unit itself is that the screen is kind of small, but honestly what can you expect in a little handheld? I would say the screen works great considering the small size, and I really shouldn't complain since I wanted something small.

The basemap is useless. I would recommend purchasing the Topo maps for this, which I did. The Topo maps have a lot of detail including lakes and streams. The unit seems to know exactly where I am at all times with considerable accuracy, but I have to say I feel the Topo map is a little off. There were times where I was hiking along the shore of a lake, and the unit said I was walking in the lake. Although the unit itself is really accurate, where I was hiking (Jefferson Park, Mt. Jefferson Oregon) the map itself seemed to be off by about 20 feet. However, when I got home and downloaded my tracks to the computer and looked at it on Google Earth, the track looked perfectly accurate. Actually that's one of the coolest features of this unit, the fact that you can look at your tracks on Google Earth - it is a lot of fun to do that after a long hike.

The City Navigator maps are pretty incredible too. I never expected a little unit like this to know where all of the restaurants, ATMs, grocery stores, banks, etc are, AND it gives turn-by-turn directions. I'm very impressed that this unit can do that.

Overall I recommend this unit. There are very few flaws, the biggest being that some people might find it difficult to use, but believe me it's not THAT bad. Like I said I have found out how to use it and customize it the way I want, but it's not terribly intuitive. If you are in need of a handheld unit, I say the current market price of $230 is well worth it.』

You can use the Vista Cx's memory card slot with preprogrammed microSD cards from Garmin (sold separately) that provide topographic maps, city streets, and nautical charts. In fact, the unit is compatible with most Garmin MapSource products including BlueChart, City Navigator, U.S. Topo 24K, and U.S. Topo and Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots. The unit comes preloaded with an Americas autoroute basemap that provides automatic routing capabilities including highways, exits and tide data. You can even get turn-by-turn directions when you're driving and an integrated trip computer provides odometer, stopped time, moving average, overall average, total time, max speed and more.

The Vista Cx's barometric altimeter system features automatic pressure trend recording while providing current elevation, ascent/descent rate, minimum/maximum elevation, total ascent and descent, and average and maximum ascent and descent rate. Meanwhile, the unit's electronic compass allows you to get accurate headings while standing still.

Like on all eTrex units, the primary controls are located on the side of the unit, so you can operate it with one hand. An innovative rocker switch on its face makes inputting data easy, and with it you can scroll through menus or pan the map page. Fast USB connectivity makes loading charts and maps quick and easy, while navigation instructions can be shared with repeaters, plotters, and autopilots using NMEA protocols through the dedicated serial port. Additionally, the case is water-resistant to IEC 60529 IPX7 standards (can be submerged in one meter of water for 30 minutes).

Another key feature of the Vista Cx is the 10,000 point automatic track log; 20 saved tracks (500 points each) let you retrace your path in both directions. Meanwhile, there's a large numbers option for easy viewing, as well as a dual position display mode. Lastly, the unit includes built-in celestial tables for best time to fish and hunt, plus sun and moon calculations.
