IPhone 3G used's review (Caveat Emptor) 『First, in general this has been a great printer, worthy of the venerable HP name.
Now, on to the caveats.
First, this printer is essentially "Windows only." I do not have a Mac but I can tell you that there is no way in the world to get Linux to print to this machine. For the majority of people that's not an issue, but if you're browsing for a low-cost reputable color laser and you DO use Linux, be aware that this one isn't for you.
Second, and worst of all: I have fried the fuser roller on mine recently because I - stupidly, perhaps, but understandably - tried to use HP photo-glossy paper in the printer. It melted the glossy layer of the paper onto the roller, and I now have a very large doorstop instead of a printer.
I hope these remarks will be helpful to someone.』
(Excellent, affordable color laserjet (4+ stars)) 『Sometimes it amazes me at how affordable color laser printers have become, and this HP printer is an excellent example of such a printer. Perfect for home or small business use, it prints professional-looking, crisp color sheets at a decent rate, although not as fast as a higher end model should. (It takes about 30 seconds from turning the power on to printing the first, full-color page; a ten page job takes approximately 2 1/2 minutes.) The resolution of the printed pages was even better than I had expected.
This particular model comes with full-size color toner cartridges. Given the price of replacing them, it adds real value since most printers come with 1/2 full toner. The display on the front shows how much of each toner remains, a helpful feature if you're about to print a big job. Drivers are available for Mac OS X and different versions of Windows. This is a non-PostScript printer.
The only problem I had was printing from a Adobe PDF document on my Mac. I can print the same flier from a Word document, but once I convert it to PDF, it loses the font graphics. The same PDF document prints fine from a Windows machine, so it has something to do with the Adobe Reader for Mac. If you use a Mac and expect to print a lot of PDF files, you should be aware of this potential problem. Because I can print using Word, I deducted only a half star for this.
I don't recommend this as a solo printer if you print a lot in black-and-white since the cost of toner and the slower speed makes it inefficient for simpler tasks. Use this as a supplement for times when you need high resolution color that is more colorfast and glossy than an inkjet. For a good quality, low cost black-and-white laser printer, I recommend Brother HL-2040 Monochrome Laser Printer.』

We don't print a lot since most of our documents are converted to PDF and just after 3 years we are shopping around to replace the original toner that came with the printer. Don't forget that even though is HP it works great with any Mac.』
(HP 2600n) 『This printer is a primary network printer. It has issues when connected directly to one PC. If using Windows Vista, a Printer Spooler Error occurs. HP has no supporting drivers to fix this. Microsoft has no Windows patches to fix this. This error is famous as several forums exist to attempt and hack both the Windows spooler and the HP 2600n. Fought this problem for two solid days with Tech calls, internet chats and promises of return calls with a solution. I have yet to hear from either group. (Great Printer...Easy Set-up!) 『We purchased this printer to replace our Lexmark Laser and Canon Injet. The Lexmark toner lasts around 2000 pages and fades almost immediately with costs of $79 if you agree to send the old one back to Lexmark.
From the second we set this printer up we have been pleased with it. It is much lighter than similar printers and the footprint is much smaller than the 2800 series printers.
Installation was incredible easy in Vista (note you have to download the Vista software from HP which took abot 5 mins over broadband. The software required very little input and upon selecting network install, the software discovered the printer in under a minute.
Operation is seamless. I know a lot of people have complained about the noise from the 2800 series printers but the 1017 is quieter than our old Lexmark even when printing in color. This printer also comes with a ScanTo function where after set up on the computer via the HP Solution software, enables you to stand at the printer and scan directly to any location on the network that has been enabled to receive scans. Extremely easy to set up and will scan in multiple formats including PDF, JPG, PNG, TIFF...etc.
As for toner costs, we really haven't noticed any difference in costs between toner costs on the 1017 verses any other printer except on the color modules. Unless you are always priting in color, you will want to change the default setting on your print driver to Grayscale to minimize any chance of wasting color toner for no reason.
The only complaints I have (minimal) are the lack of automatic duplex priting and the unavailability of a Scanner ADF for multiple pages. Other than that this is perhaps one of the better printers I have used from HP in years.』
(Cheap HP Printers hidden TONER costs revealed) 『Beware of HP CHEAP LASER PRINTERS. Specifically the CM1015 and 1017. HP laser printers are expiring the toner cartridges regardless of the actual toner used. I printed 8000 pages of pure Black and White with all color turned off in the driver. I had to replace $240 in color toner cartridges to use the printer even thought we printed NO color. Went to Cartridge world to have them opened, and sure enough they were completely full. If I would have know this, no way would I have purchased a CHEAP HP laser printer. I smell a class action in the making.』
(Great Mac and PC compatible Color Laser MFP) 『This HP Color LaserJet CM1017 is great. It is actually weighs less then my old Black and White Canon D780. What makes this printer great for me is the ability to copy and the ability to print color reliable. It's a excellent printer and now I don't have to worry about here are my thoughts so far.
Installation, dirt simple. Unpacked it, plugged it in to network, and turned it on. The LCD screen is easy to navagate and it prints out a nice sheet on the current network connection status. It quickly found my DHCP, I went to the IP and did some basic setup. Then popped in the CD, added a printer, pointed Windows XP to the CD's driver folder and I was in business. Very easy. Setting up my Mac was also easy.
After using my PrintFixPro color calibration the prints were very nice. Mostly I plan on printing out Google directions and invoices but this is a great printer.
Over all everything about the printer is good, so it would take too long to list them. But there are a couple issues. People complain about the lack of Fax features, but I don't miss that at all. Use eFax! It's way better then a standard Fax machine.
So, the only issue I have, is that the Duplexing is "manual" which to mean's it doesn't have duplexing. This doesn't matter too much to me but it's pretty lame. The sibling HP printer all support duplexing, and I think this printer should too. Oh well. It does have software duplexing build into the driver which is sorta handy, but I think real duplexing would have been better.
Oh well... still it's a great printer, and it's great for mix environments like ours. Finding a good MFP for Macs and PC's is hard.』

Ok, the main reason I bought this printer was because i was getting frustrated with my inkjets. For the last 9 years, it was always a roll of the dice if what i printed would come out ok or not. Now that the laser printers have come down in price (I was able to get this printer for under $600), I thought it might be worth it.. Although the real test will be a year from now, so far so good. The quality has been great. I have 4 computers at home, so the networking feature works wonderful for me. And I love the fact that I can stick my sony memory sticks directly into the printer and print without the PC. Speed is probably slower than average for a laser (compared to those that I've seen at work) but still ok when compared to my old inkjets. Really, the only issue i had with this printer was the price.. but if it lasts me the next few years with no hassle, then that would make up for the cost. Minor issues were the lack of a fax, and the size - it is pretty big - but that is to be expected with color lasers.
Overall I am quite pleased with the product..
Now, with that said, I can see how this printer isnt for everyone. I wont print a lot.. in fact i print very little.. so little that my inkjets would dry out due to lack of use. People with higher volume needs may not like the printer - as the number of pages that the toners are stated to last for is 2000pages- not sure if thats just the out-of-box toners-but i can imagine that not being much for a small office printer. Also, its not a true photo quality printer. You can print photos with it.. and the quality is still pretty good..(good enough for me) but, if thats the main reason for your purchase, i would stick with a cheaper photo inkjet printer.

1. The always, ALWAYS got tangled whenever I set them down. I often had no idea how. But somehow, they would be tied in knots whenever I picked them up. I think it's a problem of the material they're made of.
2. The design of the earpieces is not uncomfortable, but the hook-like quality makes it snag on all sorts of things. whatever was in my purse, clothes, the benches in the Madrid metro...
3. But, probably as a result of the first two failings, the left ear-bud stopped working one day, two months after buying them. I know I didn't buy them to last forever, but I think 2 months is too short a lifespan even for a $10 pair of headphones.
Again, I don't know about the audio quality of this product, but, from a standpoint of practicality, I would recommend Gummy headphones instead (link below) They don't have any of these problems, they come in more colors, and I even find them more comfortable. Just a suggestion!

(Best paper I've ever used!) 『I self-published a book using Hammermill 24-lb bright white paper, and I can't say enough great things about it (the paper, not the book). The book is a transcription of my great-aunt's diaries from the 1880's and I scanned each yellowed page and printed it, with my transcription next to it. The ink is faded&the handwriting hard to decipher, which is why I typed out everything, but I wanted people to see how the actual diary pages looked. I needed a heavyweight paper to keep all that color ink from bleeding through on both sides, and Hammermill's did the trick! I used it for my Christmas letters, too, and printed photos on both sides of the paper. Now I use Hammermill for everything. It has a heavy, smooth feel to it which I really like, too. Now all other paper feels flimsy and rough to me. I've tried HP's 24-lb bright white paper and I like Hammermill's better.』
