IPhone 3G used's review (Suspense as bodies pile up during investigation leading to logical solution.) 『In Double Double writer/detective Ellery Queen (son of Police Inspector Richard Queen) is summoned to the small town of Wrightsville to investigate the death of the town drunk. After receiving anonymous letters implying a link between the apparent killing of Tom Anderson with the supposedly natural death of wealthy Luke MacCaby and the apparent suicide of bankrupt John Hart, Ellery is visited by Anderson's daughter, who the drunk / beggar had named Rima after the bird-girl in Green Mansions - and raised accrodingly. Though educated beyond her years, the shy girl has no worldly knowledge, no social experience. She asks Ellery to look into her fathers death.
The only connections Ellery can find between the decedents is their relationships with Doctor Dodd and his gardener, who had previously been gardener to both the rich man and the poor man, and friend of the drunk/beggar. When a third friend of the latter, the town thief, is killed in self defense by Doctor Dodd's associate, Doctor Winship, Ellery notices a childish pattern in the victims: Rich man, poor man, beggar man, thief. The next line in that rhyme begins "Doctor, lawyer . . . " leading Ellery to assume Doctor Dodd is next, though he had been beginning to suspect the Doctor himself. Meanwile, Doctor Winship and Rima get married.
The plot isn't a typical whodunnit formula, but more like "Ten Little Indians," with more victims dropping dead during the investigation. This keeps it suspenseful, and there are enough suspects - the gardener, Rima herself, two doctors, even a lawyer - that the final logical solution still comes as a somewhat effective surprise - especially after Ellery learns that the rhyme exists with various endings: "Indian chief," "Merchant chief," "Merchant, Chief" . . .
I didn't find any flaws, and thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
This book has also been printed with the alternate title "Seven Murders."』

(Great series tie In) 『I read this book in less than a week it wasa great refresher of season one. I can not wait for season 2 to start and the second book!』
(Tudors Book) 『This is a book version of the scrips from the first season of The Tudors. It seemed like a bit of a waste to me since I already read the script version to write it a bit differently. I was hoping it would be a bit different, but it was also a good reminder of what happened the first season.』
(Fantastic!) 『A fan of the series, this novelization recaptured and fleshed out what I'd enjoyed so much on the screen. A must-have for any fan of The Tudors show, or anyone who has a love and fascination for this time in history! It is very well written, with a genuine depth and emotion so important in making the story and the characters come alive. I anxiously await the second series and the accompanying novelization!』
(MARVELOUS!!) 『I am a huge fan of Showtime's "The Tudors" so wondered just how closely the book would follow the script. As I read along, I could visualize perfectly the different scenes from the show. I could hear the characters voices during the different scenes. It has renewed my excitement for the 2nd season to start!
Can't wait for the next book to come out!』 『A king torn between two women could lead to a kingdom torn.
Troubled by religious unrest in his kingdom and changing alliances with other countries, weighing most on King Henry VIII of England's mind is his impending divorce to Queen Katherine of Aragon. The matter is of extreme urgency, as the king desires an heir and has just met the woman who holds his destiny -- Lady Anne Boleyn, eighteen and in the flower of youthful beauty. But was their meeting by chance, or part of a plan devised by her father for the furthering of his family?
As the new romance blooms, it causes heartache for the queen and headaches for the king's personal chaplain, Cardinal Wolsey, who once worked on behalf of the kingdom to organize diplomatic talks, but now toils to obtain the Church's approval for the king's divorce. As loyalties are questioned and the Church's influence is threatened by the emboldened king, the fate of the kingdom lies in the balance.
An irresistible story of love, lust, ambition, and political intrigue, this novelization of season one ofThe Tudorsintroduces us to a young, virile king of one of the most powerful nations in the world, and the women who will cause him to forever alter the course of history.』

I think anybody that liked adventure would like it. It was funny sometimes, and I liked the whole "Mr.Toe" thing. It made the book a lot funnier. Anyway like i said if you like adventure and can think of great pictures in your head, then I think you should read "Juliet Dove: Queen of Love".』
(A Kids Review) 『Juliet Dove Queen of Love is about a girl, Juliet, who wonders into a mystical magic shop hidden in a part of her town. When she walks into the shop a lady at the counter showed Juliet an amulet. Juliet fell in love with the amulet because of it beautiful color and shape. She was told do not open this amulet for its color will crack. Juliet took the amulet home. I really liked this book because Juliet takes you on multiple adventures. Juliet meets all these Goddess who help her on her journey. These adventures are very descriptive and you feel like you are on the journey with her. I recommend this book to everyone. I really enjoyed it.』
(captivating to the last page!) 『I was going to write that my young daughter adores this book, but I have to admit that I love it too! She's read it cover to cover many times over, and now selects her "favorite parts" for me to read aloud at bedtime. Coville has authored a whole slew of books, but this is the one I like best, with the exception of his Shakespeare adaptations. The book is full of enjoyable characters and intriguing plot twists.
』
(Juliet Dove Queen of Love) 『You might think Juliet Dove Queen of Love is a lovey dovey book just for girls. It's actually a very interesting book. The author is Bruce Coville. The genre is fiction adventure. The main characters are Juliet Dove, Jerome, Roxanne, and a lot of different goddesses. Juliet Dove has an amulet that she can't get off. So all these boys start following her because they become in love. You have got to read it!!
In the beginning of the story Juliet Dove goes to a magic shop and a lady gives her this amulet. She doesn't want to leave it so she puts it on. In the middle of the story Juliet gets into all of these adventures trying to find out how to get the amulet off because it starts to tighten. Read this book to find out about the rest of her adventures.
The theme of this book is never talk to strangers. This book reminds me of someone I know in the middle school because boys are always chasing after her too. This book is great for girls in grade 2-5.

(Inspiring) 『Martha Ann's Quilt for Queen Victoria was an inspiring story that reminds us to never give up on our dreams and also to dream BIG and leave the rest to God. As a freed slave, it seemed highly unlikely that Martha Ann would ever be in the company of Queen Victoria. But after 50 years of dreaming, PREPARATION and ridicule, Martha Ann got just want she wanted -an audience with the queen. Not only is the story true, it is inspirational to everyone not just children. Kudos to Kyra Hicks for bringing the story to light and inspiring us all to dream BIG!』
(A STORY TO REMIND US THAT DREAMS CAN COME TRUE) 『
Martha Ann's story is not only an inspiration to all, it is also a true story. A story reminding us that with determination, hard work, and confidence even the most seemingly impossible dreams can come true.
Born about 1817 in eastern Tennessee, Martha Ann Ricks was a slave. Her father was a traveling preacher who learned about the American Colonization Society, an organization that assisted blacks in beginning again in a new place - Liberia.
When Martha Ann was 12, her family had finally saved enough money to buy their freedom and they moved to Liberia. Once there Martha Ann was able to go to school where she joyfully learned how to read. At home her mother taught her to sew. However, these happy times came to an end all too soon when African Fever took the lives of her mother, father, and sisters.
As an adult and a married woman, Martha Ann went to the market with her husband where she saw British naval ships patrolling the coast to stop slave catchers from kidnaping blacks. So impressed was Martha Ann by the ships and Queen Victoria for sending them that she determined to personally thank the Queen for protecting her people.
An impossible hope? Yes, but Martha Ann fulfilled her dream.
Highly recommended for young readers.
- Gail Cooke』
(A Must Read) 『Readers of all ages will find Martha Ann's Quilt for Queen Victoria a fascinating journey through history as told through the eyes of our heroine, Martha Ann, who both captivates and inspires her audience. Martha Ann's Quilt for Queen Victoria is a must read especially young people as it teaches the importance of setting goals and following through on the work necessary to achieve them. Bravo to Ms. Hicks who had the foresight and the passion to share this most remarkable story.』
(A precious story) 『What a privilege it was to read Kyra's latest work to my 5 year old. She absolutely loved it, asking so many questions and commenting on the beauty of the book itself. This book was such a treat for both me and her! It's educational, uplifting and sweet. I encourage my daughter to always reach beyond the stars and this book reinforces that. We will read it again and again and share it with others! Thank you Kyra.』 『Martha Ann is twelve years old when Papa finally saves enough money to purchase her freedom from slavery. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (A testament to the development of a great band and of a great period in time) 『The first comprehensive biography of the supergroup Queen to focus on the band's formative years and the early lives of the four talented musicians who made up the band.
From Truro in Cornwall , and Oadby, Lecestershire to Zanazibar, we learn of the early lives Freddie Mercury, Brian May, roger Taylor and John Deacon. While many of the details will only be of interest to die-hard Queen fans, the book also gives us a strong feel of the youth and music culture in England in the 1960s and early 70s.
The book takes us on a journey into the desperate days of pre-stardom when members of the quartet played in bands such as The Reaction, The Opposition 1984, , Sour Milk Sea , Wreckage and Smile Ghost of a Smile.
The book brings together hundreds of interviews including musicians such as Mike Bersin and Tim Staffell who worked with Freddie, Roger and Brian on the local music gig scenes in those heady days of the 60s and early 70s.
We can read of Brian's early love for sci fi which influenced so much of his own compositions such as we can clearly identify on the all time classic album A Night at the Opera. more on Brian May can be found in Queen and I: The Brian May Story, of Roger Taylor's gigs with school friends in Truro, Cornwall metamorphosing into several local bands, of the unassuming and quiet John Deacon from Oadby, Leicesterhsire, and of Freddie Mercury's childhood in Zanzibar and Poona in India. It is very interesting to read how Freddie (Born Farouk Bulsara) was brought up in the Zoroastrian religion and much of Queen's splendour and ceremony may have been due to Freddie's Zoroastrian upbringing. We learn of all the early influences of the band and their first real taste of fame as the supporting act for Mott the Hoople, before the bands first hit Seven Seas of Rhye, their first album Queen and first tours.Of Freddie's flamboyant personality and dress from the beginning as well as his generosity. The bands relationships and Freddie's campness and discovery of his homosexuality. Much of the book details Queen's musical influence y bands such as Tyrannosaurus Rex, Cream, And Jimmi Hendrix (the idol of all the bands members in their youth). A good introduction before reading this would be Queen: As It Began. 』
(Nothing really new) 『Nothing really new or insightful here or that most Queen fans didn't really already know. I found the book a bit boring. 』
(The very early years..) 『Queen fans know the story but what about the rest of the world ...buy this and find out!! Need i say more, the Band before the hype, working the clubs..the cavern..yes they did play find out more buy this book..10/10』
(Pretty Good Book) 『I am a major Queen and Freddie fan. I've read a few books about my favorite subjects with disappointing results. In "Queen: The Early Years" the author actually delivers. Although this is not an in depth account it is the "early years" summary background of Freddie, Brian, Roger and John becoming Queen. Mark Hodkinson (the author) obviously did a lot of research and interviews to provide the material. He did such a great job, quotes and excerpts from this book are often used in other author's books regarding Queen or its members.
In "Queen: The Early Years" each band member's early biography highlights are documented in four separate sections. Most noteworthy is each member's music background and experience as they progress. Most information is provided by previous band and class mates. Then the final section brings all four members together to the early years of Queen.
This book gives you a feel for what the music and the culture was like then. The early bands Queen members performed with and the determination of four guys that would change the world.
There are a lot of, this band became that band and this artist now works at this profession, but I think it's significant. You wonder if the lead singer of Smile hadn't quit, would there have been a Queen? The negatives are the photos. Some are too small or not labeled well. Only one photo of Freddie with a previous band and some others are group pictures you have to really search to find Brian, Roger or John. 』
(Most boring book of it's type I've ever had the misfortune to struggle through) 『This book reads like the author made a list of names of every person who has ever come into contact with every other person who's come into contact with any member of any band that any member of queen ever played in and then thought of words to string all the names together. There are very few actual band quotes or anecdotes, no amusing stories, no gossip and not many good photos. I was totally disappointed and unsatisfied after reading this book and will look for the "semi-official" biography" with hopes that it's the polar opposite of this dry list of everyone who almost was in the band but is so glad that they weren't because otherwise they wouldn't have fulfilled their life's dream of selling rugs or some such crap. I'm almost conscious-stricken about reselling it, but not quite since someone else scammed me and I want my money back, damn it!』 『The first biography of the legendary British band to focus on their formative years. It highlights the desperately urgent days of pre-stardom, when the Queen quartet played with bands like The Reaction, The Opposition, 1984, and Sour Milk Sea. From the tiny downbeat village of Oadby in Leicestershire, where John Deacon grew up, to the exotic splendor of Zanzibar, where Farookh Bulsara was born, author Mark Hodkinson offers a new and enticing version of Queen. In tracing these unpublished stories he also examines the Queen era before and immediately after stardom. SELLING POINTS: He has interviewed over 60 friends and colleagues of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon, and pieced together a fascinating web of stories that for the first time tell the true story of the emergent Queen. This is the first genuine account of Queen s rise to stardom, as told by those who knew the band and watched from the front row. Illustrated with many previously unseen early photographs of the four members of Queen.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Typical Mother-Daughter Book) 『Don't get me wrong. I love reading about mother-daughter relationships and all the complicatedness that goes in between women. This is just another typical book ~~ very entertaining though, but doesn't offer any new insights or thoughts to relationships. If you like a good story, this would do. It is not the best fiction I have ever read nor did I expect it to be. It is just an entertaining story about a mother and a daughter, how they became the persons they are in the novel and how it concluded to "happily ever after." It is cute and endearing. It is definitely relatable (especially if you have a relationship with your mom or daughter).
Babs is the runner-up to the Cotton Queen in high school. She married the true love of her life ~~ a charming, all-American boy, who tragically died within a few years of their marriage. Struggling to raise her daughter alone after his funeral, she encountered a man who changed her life for the worse. However, she moves back to McKinnely and marries a former admirer, Acee. Their marriage was a sham from the beginning as Babs could never tell Acee her deepest secret. She wouldn't even admit it to herself.
Laney is Babs' daughter. She was forced to endure the trauma of being a Cotton Queen but as soon as she could, she escaped the little town and headed to Houston for college. There Laney tried to build upon her dreams and build a career in the 80s. She falls in love and marries, only to have everything taken away from her. She returns home to McKinley and finds happiness there.
This novel explores their relationship with one another ~~ Babs wanting nothing more than to protect Laney for the evils of the world and Laney wanted nothing more than to be her own person. This book deals with that struggle as well as telling the stories of two strong women who finally forge a friendship with one another.
It is a quick read and entertaining ~~ but it is just another typical novel about mothers and daughters.

(A page turner) 『A story about the relationship between mothers and daughters, life in the South (Texas in particular) - very well written and true to life. I could not read it fast enough ...』
(Too disturbing) 『They advise writers to get their character up in a tree and then throw rocks at her. In this book there are too many rocks for my comfort. I wasn't able to continue beyond the first few chapters, it upset me so.』
(Ms. Morsi scores again!) 『I have been reading Pamela Morsi's books for years, and she has NEVER written one I didn't like. This one is no exception! The story of a mother and daughter and their conflicts had me stopping every now and then and thinking of my own mother, and how I pulled away from her until I grew up and came to realize that no one ever could love me more than she does. Ms. Morsi moved me to laughter and tears with this one. I can't wait for her next book!』
(PHENOMENAL!!!) 『I couldn't put this book down!! I finished it in two day and that's with working 8 hours a day! The storyline is fantastic and it shows how people look at things differently. Both mother and daughter had such different points of view, yet were so much alike in other ways. I say HOORAY!! Read this for sure!!!!!』
