There is a LOT of "complete immodesty" in this book, to put it tastefully, and pagan gods and goddesses with wings are among the pictures in this book. It's not even all actual, or what you might call "real" angels (eg, the kind that dwell in heaven with Christ). There are only about... MAYBE three or four pictures in this book that I could, as a Catholic keep, let alone color. CERTAINLY do not give this book to your child.
Apparently the author makes no discretion in the light of the fact that when you say "angels" most people think Raphael, Gabriel and our good guardians. The author opted to include any mythological god or goddess too, so long as they have wings.
Deceptive title and rather tasteless collection to pitch to the "fans" of the genre (who are doubtlessly mostly Christians who will be offended by the all-encompassing mix found here... and their apparel... or lack thereof).
Of the famous Bouguereau's paintings, those rendered were some of the less modest... even non-Christian... when the best of his Christian works, like the Virgin Mary SURROUNDED by angels... was "conveniently" omitted.
An atheist might enjoy this book for the ironic if not sick joke on the Christians who buy it thinking it will be akin to it's cover, but Christ-loving and modest-minded Christians certainly won't. At least the Sistine Chapel is actually Christian in theme.』
(Excellent, but be fore-warned) 『These are excellent blackline reproductions of fine artwork, great for colored pencil coloring. However, not all the images are as saintly as the cover picture. Some are nudes or near nudes, so this is perhaps not the book for some young children.』
(Super book) 『This is a super book.I use it for inspiration and mix it with ideas from other books. Its very good for the price.and its not a small book.in size or detail.Im really glad I bought it.B.W.』 『
These 30 meticulously recreated renderings feature magnificent paintings by such Renaissance masters as Botticelli, Raphael, and Fra Angelico, as well as brilliant 17th- to 20th-century artists (Bouguereau, Evelyn de Morgan, Burne-Jones, and others). All are shown in full color on the covers, so you can follow the artists' original schemes.

The book purports to explain color correction but does not guide you through the process. Instead it gives you directions like "first adjust the black levels, then move on to fine tune the colors..."
Without actually telling you how to perform any of the adjustments the book is describing it's almost worthless. The reader is left with the same questions they had before they read it.』
(Written for the editor who needs to color correct) 『Great book that I have been looking for. This book was written in a style that I, an offline editor trying to move up to online work, could understand. It deals with how to color correct - not just how to use a specific tool (though it does that also). Well worth the money!』
(color demystified in an agnostic way) 『This is a fantastic book - required reading for anyone producing video.
Everyone will have tried basic color correction and been confounded by the number of parameters that all seem to do the same thing, yet interact to produce worse results than you started with. This book goes into great detail about how luminance and color influence your image and leads you through excercises to try on your own material, and images provided on the enclosed CD.
Although it is a technical subject, it is written in a very readable way.
It is amazing the changes that happen with quite subtle adjustments. That is the key to everything. Subtlety that creates great results.
The book covers color correction to match other footage, but also correction to create special effects and drama. There are even examples of how to highlight the subject from a confused background.
A, MUST READ book that should be on everyone's shelf. 』
(Color Correction for DV) 『I never get desappointed when I get a new book from DV collection. This book was an excellent acquisition, it goes into details and shares the experience of the author. It is not only for the video enthusiast but for professionals who work on video as a reference book. It shows a broad collection of tools that will help us make a better video and also correcting those shots made by consumer DV cameras.』
(A good overview, but not superb) 『The book does a good job of being an overview for color correcting video - but unfortunately because it avoids anything application specific it fails to show you how to do stuff in your specific NLE. Training dedicated to a specific application&color correction- like my FCP training DVD by Digital Film Tree is much better because it teaches the theory AND the tool - so you cover both angles while this was just the theory. But that may be what you want - or your NLE may not have a book about color correction dedicated to it. If you're a FCP user, there's a book called 'Advanced Finishing Techniques' in the Apple Training Series that I would recommend over this one.』 『Readers will learn the principles of color theory and video signal analysis, including the differences between film and video color. Beginning with an analysis of common color corrections, the book will introduce the reader to the color corrections possible with an array of digital video software, such as Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Avid, Avid Xpress DV 2.0, After Effects plug-ins, and other nonlinear software. Color correction problems and solutions are presented with tutorials on the companion CDROM to ensure that the reader gains a working knowledge of the techniques.
Color Correction for Digital Video shows you how to use color to improve your storytelling, deliver critical emotional cues, and add impact to your videos. Beginning with a clear, concise description of color and perception theory, this book shows you how to analyze color correction problems and solve them-whatever NLE or plugin you use.』

"A magazine about the rest of the world"– so reads the celebrated subtitle of the magazine Colors. With their latest project, the creative minds at Fabrica breathe new life into that motto. In cooperation with Reporters sans Frontières, they used various means to distribute blank notebooks to international graphic designers, illustrators, artists, photographers, and filmmakers – and also, of course, to students in every creative profession. But it isn’t just creative professionals they have in their sights with the Notebook Project but – much more broadly – people of all ages and social classes and from a wide range of ethnic, religious, and political communities all over the world. With 3,500 richly illustrated notebooks full of drawings and collages already submitted, the time is right to engage in a provisional stocktaking. This is done here with a little series of books that selects the best from the works submitted, organizes it thematically, and annotates it professionally. The result is an attractive invitation to graphic designers and illustrators, who are already increasingly employing traditional graphic techniques, to allow themselves to be stimulated by the variety of styles on offer. For "there ishardly a designer today who isn’t full of enthusiasm for vernacular culture, graffiti, amateurish drawings, and charmingly misused typography" (Gerrit Terstiege, editor in chief of form).
The volume Violence is a frightening demonstration of just how completely the subject of violence dominates the world today. Violence done by human beings to other human beings, whether in the private sphere of personal relations, in the form of coerced and degrading living conditions, or in the open brutality of war and civil war. The artistic documents selected here are expressions of that violence, images and signs that represent or indict. By doing so with a creative engagement that seeks to produce a sense of shock and personal involvement in the viewer, they speak implicitly but unmistakably of the dignity of their creators and the injuries they have suffered.
» (Steven Heller).

(Great Book) 『As a long time fan of the DM&IR I really enjoyed this volume. Great color!』
(A good read) 『A very interesting book on the DM&IR. It covered the birth and development of the US Steel Corporation. An explanation of the development of Taconite (Low grade ore) was very informative as well. The book is littered with many glorious colour photos, pricipally of the diesel era- locomotives and mine/mill/Dock operations . But scattered throughout the book are many B&W photos from the steam era. A bonus for me was several colour photos of the mighty 2-8-8-4 "Yellowstone"

This illustrated look at the history the Duluth, Missabe&Iron Range Railroad begins with a brief look back at its late-nineteenth-century origins in the Duluth&Iron Range and Duluth, Missabe&Northern railroads. This book covers tan and different shades of gray in addition to the usual blue and pink. As a mom, I was blown away at how visually appealing this book is and the little one and I both enjoyed it. I will be buying more EyeLike books.』
(A wonderful and inexpensive picturebook) 『EyeLike Colors is a wonderful and inexpensive picturebook that introduces young people ages 4 and up to the brilliant world of color. Stunning full color photography of natural flora and fauna serve as vivid examples of every color of the rainbow, as well as concepts such as "two-tone" and "multicolor". Simple rhymes further enhance this vivid showcase: "Red is red, dark or light. / On little bugs or on flowers, / Red is always bright." Highly recommended, especially for children's library collections, as are the rest of the beautiful and educational EyeLike picture book series, including "EyeLike Numbers" (9781602140196) and "EyeLike Shapes" (9781602140202). 』
(Eyelike Colors) 『From the everyday colors, such as purple and blue, to the more uncommon pearl and iridescent, nature's wide array of colors are displayed for all to see in Play Bac Publishing's new book Eyelike Colors.
Green is no longer just green; red is no longer just red. Each two to four page spread in this book is devoted to a single color, or rather to a spectrum of shades of color. For example, readers see that sunflowers, grapefruit, ducklings and daffodils are all different shades of yellow. Flamingoes, pigs, raspberries and cherry blossoms are all differing shades of pink.
Each page, without exception, is filled with bright vibrant pictures of colors found in nature. Even the sections devoted to black and to white are eye-catching and vibrant in their own right. The photography is such that one could very easily flip through this book without pausing to read the short sentences and still take away much from the experience. The words are very clearly secondary in this colorful book.
Children will love looking at this book and seeing items of varying colors and shades. They will enjoy seeing their own favorite colors displayed in nature and may even be encouraged to discover these colors on their own as they play and explore the great outdoors.
Parents will not regret purchasing this book, nor is it one that is likely to be found in a used book store anytime soon. 』 『Open your child's eyes to the vivid impact of the natural world!EyeLikeis an innovative series of three boldly illustrated, graphic titles that introduce young readers to the exciting world of colors, shapes, and numbers.
TheEyeLikebooks draw a child's attention to the details and textures of the natural world and open the door to a lifetime of discovery and learning. Nature is an excellent math teacher—to learn to count, all you have to do is look at nature! A rabbit has TWO ears, a clover has FOUR leaves, a starfish has FIVE arms and insects have SIX legs.』
IPhone 3G used's review (Soothing Simplicity with Style) 『Rich, velvety chocolate, beach glass, jonquils, blue skies, cotton candy, silver spoons, lavender sachets and seashells---if these are the images that bring you joy then this is the book you should you shouldn't be without when making your color choices. If you oooh and ahh over Pottery Barn catalogs, then you have pretty good idea already of what to expect from the color choices within this book--serenity.
Previous reviews on this book have taken me by suprise!
If you don't like earth tones and colors picked from nature, then this is absolutely not the book for you. The cover is a CLEAR indicator of what is within so how people purchased this book and found themselves suprised by it's contents is beyond me.
If you desire serene, rich color with monochromatic tones and eye catching contrasts that don't pop your eyeballs then this book is a must have.
Martha only explains the importance of subtle contrast and color placement with regard to depth and space, but the information contained within is crucial to developing a smooth finish and painting with results that rival that of professionalism. This book is so much more than a "look at me and my shocking photographs" that you might find in other books aimed at color.
While Martha has always favored greens and yellows in her work, this book explores use of blues, greys, pinks and even lavender with silver. The results are soothing, restful rooms that tantilize the eyes without tiring them.
It's a smart, easy-to-use design instruction that reads well and produces even better results.
Martha's paint colors are available at Kmart, Sears, Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams and Fine Paints of Europe. This means that if you like the colors within this book, regardless of your budget, you will be sure to find a match at a local paint store near you. That's an added bonus that I've found priceless!』
(Very Informative, Better than "Decorating Details") 『Martha Stewart's "Decorating with Color" is a wonderful book to help you choose and match colors with the color wheel in mind. I love her overall monochromatic color schemes with an accent color thrown in from the opposite end of the color wheel. I subscribe to her magazines, and while these ideas are featured there as well, it's nice to have them all in one book. I liked this book more than "Decorating Details." Another good decorating book is "Instant Impact" - in my opinion the best of the Trading Spaces books.』
(hnnnnngh... just subscribe to her magazines.) 『please, if you regularly buy martha stewart living magazines, DON'T bother buying this book. unless of course you want to see more of the same, but packaged altogether with nice binding and a deceptively original cover. it's not even actually "more" of the same, but actually "the same" -- this is a compilation of reproductions, old stuff that was published over the years. not too fresh, and particularly aggravating to someone who's a subscriber.』
(Loved It!) 『My husband and I are at the tail end of redecorating our house and this book came out just in time to help me plan the color scheme for our sunroom (I love the celadon color scheme). I only wish I'd had this book before decorating my other rooms. (I keep looking at my white ceilings now and wishing I'd painted them a color!) Anyone who loves the sophisticated understated monotone color schemes that are one of Martha's trademarks will find this "best of" book a useful addition to their decorating collection.』
(How old is this book anyway?) 『How can a new book look this old? It's the same old sagey, seafoamy greens and pale yellows that Martha has pushed for, like, 20 years now. I like Martha, but I was assuming that her new book would be about new colors that are more on trend than this. I'm disappointed.』 『Bring the world of color into your home.Decorating with Color, the latest from the editors ofMartha Stewart Living, features eleven color palettes inspired by nature and everyday objects. Within each palette, whether honeycomb, sea glass, lustreware, or melon, you will discover how to create comfortable, inviting rooms that shelter and soothe.
Color can be intimidating. Many of us rely on neutrals, unsure of how to combine stronger colors without having them clash. Yet for Martha Stewart, a house is not a home until it is filled with color. In Decorating with Color, Martha and the editors ofMartha Stewart Livingshare the lessons they have learned over years of decorating hundreds of spaces. In some cases, changing the look of a room may be as simple as painting the inside of a kitchen cabinet blue or displaying a collection of sunny yellow pitchers atop a dark chest of drawers. Or you might choose a lively green for the bedroom walls but keep the fabrics and furniture understated. The eleven palettes in this book will help you recognize the colors and textures that add up to beautiful, cohesive rooms. In each chapter, you will find examples of paint chips, fabric swatches, and simple, stylish projects to inspire you whenever you decorate.』
