Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Look No Further For Help!) 『I Love this book. If you have trouble putting just the right colors together, this book will show you how subtle changes in shades within a color can make a difference, as well as how to put together whole color schemes. If you know what you like, but don't know how to "get there" this book will give you lots of ideas to experiment with before you even paint your first coat of color. It also made me think about combinations I wouldn't have put together on my own. I definitely recommend this book.』
(The title says it all.) 『I love this book it is a great help for color coordination both inside the house and outside. It it is worth every penny I payed for it. I would highly recommend it to anyone, both amateur and professional decorators. It really helped me out, I can't say enough good things about it but to say I think is a great book.』
(Don't renovate without it!) 『Clothes may not make the man, but color sure makes the room, doesn't it? If you respond intensely to color, as I do, but have no idea what turns you on or turns you off, this book is the handy guide you want (even the way it's bound, in a spiral, like every cookbook should be but isn't). Amy Wax's book is indispensable for anyone choosing colors in decorating or, especially, as we used it for, to guide you through a major renovation. After all, you spend thousands to redo a room, so why not spring for 13 bucks (now at Amazon) to guide you through the crucial decisions on color? After all, isn't that what everyone comments on?
』
(You need to be a designer to use this book) 『This book isn't what we expected. It was like a color chart you can pick up at the paint shop. It did not tell us what colors go well together, However there were pictures of rooms and they explained what were in the pictures. We were still confused about what to choose for our home. Eventually we looked at the nice pictures and ended up getting a paint chart at the paint shop and doing it the old way!』
(Can't Fail Color Schemes) 『This book is an excellent resource for people who enjoy colors but are afraid to decorate their homes with color. Can't Fail Color Schemes is a great tool for amateur decorators, homeowners who don't want to make mistakes painting their homes and professional decorators who are looking for an update in their traditional color palets. This volume is easy to use, is chocked full of wonderful illustrative room settings and a "must-have" for anyone looking to transform their house into their home. 』 『
For a fresh approach to color in the home, look no further than Can't Fail Color Schemes. This book allows readers to coordinate paint colors, textures, and accessories while factoring in such things as light effects and psychology of color. Heavy on photographical examples of working schemes and light on text, Can't Fail Color Schemes acts as a workbook readers can take along to home centers and paint stores. Unlike so many other color scheme books, it even includes an ample section on exterior color. With Can't Fail Color Schemes, readers can give every room in their home a brand new look.

(Great book for little ones!) 『We love the dinosaur books - this one is a cute, very simple book great for babies and toddlers learning colors. The board book makes it safe to handle without ripping pages. It is NOT the same as the other dinosaur books in that it's not a cute story - just dinosaurs and different colors. We do recommend it for little ones.』
(great starter book) 『My son loves the dinosaur board books. Although they are shorter in length than the hard cover books, they are great for little ones to handle. They story rhymes and keeps a consistant flow, which seems to interest our 14 month old. We own several and I would recommend them all!』
(Favorite book!) 『We love these dinosaurs books. They are for kids of all ages and for boy OR girl. They are so cute and teach a lesson. This one is about colors and though it isn't my favorite of the series, it is very good. I love the pictures and so does my daughter』
(As good as the other "How Do Dinosaurs..." books) 『My three year old likes all these books. They aren't too dull to read either for the parent.』 『Dinosaur colors start with red: A red fire truck stuck under the bed, A purple towel left on the floor, A green sign taped to the closet door, The third board book by the bestselling, award-winning duo Jane Yolen and Mark Teague focuses on one of the most fun concepts learned in childhood: colors. Very accurate and a good tool for future reference with regard to my working life. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I can't wait to try the questionnaire with my sister who often says that she sees 'red'! She will be astounded when she discovers her 'true' colours! Then it will be the turn of the rest of my family! I can recommend this book to anyone interested in discovering the type of person they are (they may not be who they think they are!)and what work they are suited to in this life.』
(Brought a lot of insight on myself and my relationship) 『I first stumbled upon Oslie's work online when I was curious about finding out more about my aura color and how it can benefit my life. Everyone kept telling me, "oh, you are definitely a blue" and it sparked my curiosity. Upon taking the test, I found out something wonderful...I have not one, but two life colors! Both Blue and Crystal resonated deep within me and upon reading the information on each one, they described me down to the last detail. As fun as it was to read things that represent huge parts of my personality, there was a bigger help in this book. It also gives you career choices that go with your color(s) and I found myself "clicking" with just about all the Crystal and Blue ones. This will be of the utmost help to me because I just graduated from college and I was searching for the type of job that would suit me and I feel like I finally have more of an idea of where to look. Also, Oslie talks about different things regarding your color like how you probably were as a child, how to parent a child of that color, sex, money, success...all the works. The last part I found extremely helpful is that it tells you about your relationships with other colors. I asked my boyfriend to take the test and found out he's an Environmental Tan. The end of the book told us how our relationship was and it was creepy accurate on our current situation. One of the issues that hit home is that it said that Environmental Tan's usually have jobs that will take them far away for long periods of time. Sure enough, my boyfriend is in the military and he will be going to war soon. My boyfriend is usually very skeptical about these types of books but Oslie even managed to convince a natural skeptic! I absolutely love this book because it has helped me in numerous ways. I reccommend it to anyone who may be curious as to what their color may say about themselves and the people around them.
Also, on a side note, I emailed Oslie about a question I had regarding one of my colors, and she not only returned my email promptly, but was also extremely helpful and sweet. A wonderfully insightful book and a genuinely helpful author are definitely a winning combination in my opinion :).』
(Excellent) 『I was profoundly affected by the information in this book. My life is the same but the way I see it is totally different. I finally understand myself. To feel comfortable with oneself and at peace and ease with oneself is exhilerating.
I read the other reviews and found them insightful. I think people get out of a book based on what they are looking for and where they are in their growth and self awareness.
If you are ready to face yourself then this book is for you. If you want scientific and other knowledge about auras there is probably a more thorough book.
I have shared this book with family and friends and many have gasped at the insight they finally had into themselves. Things that were a puzzle, a muddle, a burden, suddenly became clear. Where you decide to go from there is up to you.』
(The Path Of Colors) 『I just love this book. It's such an easy to read guide and you don't have to read it in order either. I found it rather therapeutic. I don't mean that it'll help you with all of you're problems. However, this is a really great start trying to get a different look into you're self.』
(Questions Answered) 『I read this book before I had a consultation with Pamala Oslie. The contents were so fascinating and informative that I shared the book with my husband. We both recognized how the yellow life color description fit him perfectly, and we still talk about the characteristics of our life colors and what we feel others around us have as their aura colors. For us, it explains a lot about who we are and why we act the way we do. We can also in all likelihood predict others' future behavior, if we have a good idea of what their life color(s)' makeup is.
Knowing and accepting your negative life patterns and the indications of being out of power can assist in surmounting self-defeating behavior and choosing new beliefs. In this sense, you can take responsibility for what happens in your own life and be your own authority.
When completing the individual color assessments it is vitally important to honestly answer each question. After my consultation I looked back at one of the colors I was told I have in my aura, and I saw how I previously rejected it because I felt there were too many negative characteristics. I then could honestly accept this as who I am, and work on bringing myself back in power as suggested by Pamala.
My rating of 5 stars is intently based on the book and not my experience with the author. However, I would like to describe my interaction because it serves to support her credibility. I had a most interesting session with Ms. Oslie; she related many things she could not have had prior knowledge of. Her descriptions of other people in my life were exact. Ms. Oslie's insights of my beliefs and self-realizing goals have been extremely useful. Her level of understanding, wisdom, ethics and professionalism is unmatched by others in her field, which is typically dotted with charlatans and other individuals of questionable abilities. I was left with no question about the authenticity of Ms. Oslie's abilities to correctly intuit many aspects of my life.
』 『
A colorful array of energy emanates from all beings. Pamala Oslie offers a guide to these aura colors and how they correspond to four main personality types. She also describes 12 combination colors and includes a test to determine one's own aura color. With celebrity examples and ways to cultivate new aura colors, this insightful guide can lead to greater self-understanding.

So, since colors are the hardest part of watercolor painting, especially greens, I wanted a book that I could just glance at and have a recipe for the color I need. Sometimes you can end up with mud, or a color that clashes with your intention of the color you have in your head. This book really helps me to just turn a page...pick a color I want and use the right combos to get the tone and hue I need. It's a great tool. I highly recommend it for a beginner or anyone just wanting a color reference at their fingertips. It's a lot more time saving than making your own.』 『This handy painter's guide features an easy-to-follow mixing method for creating just the right shade of watercolour for any subject. Each colour sample is accompanied by a "recipe" that gives the paint percentages and dilution level needed to achieve the colour. This book makes it easy to search for a colour based on a subject; artists can look up "red rose" in the Colour Guidance Index and quickly locate the corresponding colour sample and recipe. This essential reference book also features information on altering values, graying with compliments, and creating portrait colours. In addition, the book supplies a colour-mixing grid - a heavy, printed acetate surface where artists can mix paints according to the proportions indicated in the recipes.』

This book is an amazing way to help children, not to mention adults, talk about race in simple and scientific terms. This book helps adults move through their own fears and talk about race in the matter-of-fact way children experience the world.』
(Simple, honest explanations) 『My 3-year old began asking lots of questions about the different people we know and their skin color. I looked everywhere for a simple, informative book. He loved the photos and the explanations that the color you are comes from 1) your family 2) the sun and 3)melanin. At the end the books asks where you think your ancestors came from (for instance somewhere very sunny). Any my son immediately replied: "Somewhere dark!" Indeed, he's right and now he understands why we come in different colors and sees this as interesting and wonderful. I read many other books on the subject but most are a celebration of racial differences which is great but did not help address a natural curiousity as to why. I highly recommend this book for those with young children asking questions about why people have different skin colors.』
(Very helpful) 『We live in a very small town and my 3 year old daughter goes to an in-home babysitter with only three other children, she is also the oldest child there. After routine T.V. time and Christmas shopping at the mall this past holiday season, my daughter began to ask questions. In early January, we bought a new car and the business manager that we did all of the paperwork with had a darker complexion, my daughter asked "mom, what color is he?". This embarrassed my husband and the next day I ordered "all the colors we are". My daughter likes the book because of all the pictures of real kids. She also has begun to point at different skin colors in the book and say "this one is pretty" and similar comments. She doesn't understand the melanin section yet but overall she likes the book and asks us to read it to her over and over.』
(It's OKAY...) 『I personally like the book, but reading this to my kids was a drag. They wouldn't pay attention. They didn't care. And they said it was boring. The pictures are REAL pictures, and not illustrations.
My kids are 6 and 4 years old. Maybe in 2 or 3 years they'll appreciate it. I don't know.』
(Terrific book for use in the classroom) 『This is a great book for use in the classroom. It allows students to gain a better understanding of the differences among us and that these differences are not always black or white. This book is a good book to use in a literature focused unit on Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli.』 『
Magnificent color photographs and simple, engaging language capture the essence of one way we are special and different from one another-our skin color! Answers the "what and why" questions that children love to ask. Includes unique activity ideas.

Perfect as a Mother's Day or baby shower gift, this tender book expresses the immeasurable love that parents have for their children-warmer than a wool blanket, sturdier than an oak tree, brighter than a rainbow. It's a sentiment that will soothe and delight the adults as well as their youngsters, and the lyrical verse is complemented by delicate, fanciful paintings that possess a timeless beauty and charm.

In stock soon. Order now to get in line. First come, first served. IPhone 3G used's review (Color Theory) 『This is a great book for budding art students. I used this as my reference in my art classes in college. Very detailed and full of information. Even if you are not a natural artist, you will be able to develop your skill if you have a good guide such as this.』
(Physics and Art by Reviewer) 『Physics is a science that deals with matter and energy. Physics includes light, prisms, luminosity and color. In his book, Color Theory, Jose Parramon discusses the primary colors of light and the primary colors of pigments. Parramon's primary pigment colors are correct according to the laws of physics. The harmonization, contrast and shadows of color are intriguing topics. The Uses and Abuses of Black and White are worthy of notation. Parramon uses prussian blue, a fugitive color that disappears when paintings are stored in the dark. The Impressionists substituted transparent cobalt blue to replace transparent prussian blue. This book has excellence. Use Parramon's Color Theory as a reference for further study.』
(Very clear and understandable!) 『Although oriented toward oil painters, Jose Parramon's color theory book is enlightening and informative for anyone who wishes to understand color. He explains the theory very simply and clearly, illustrating concepts with pertinent color examples from oil painting.
As a photoshop instructor helping my students understand color both on screen (made with light) and in print, and as a photographer seeking to capture harmonious images, I found the book to be very helpful in clarifying my understanding of color. I was pleased also to learn about the color of shadows, and how colors cast their complementary color onto neighboring objects - knowledge that helps not only with painting but also in regard to touching up photographs.
』
(José is a FANTASTIC Art Teacher!) 『I paint landscapes in oil for a hobby. The other day, while cleaning all my paint tubes, and while looking at the names of the colors, I began thinking about them. I then found I had José's wonderful book on my shelf for several years, still unread. I picked it up, and found I literally could not put it down. For an artist, this book reads like a "thriller!"
One of the things I liked best about the book is that it is not necessary to read it in order, from beginning to end. I turned first to the section on shadows, as shadows are an area I am currently having problems with. José explains EVERYTHING SO WELL, and CLEARLY. When he refers to matter already covered in an earlier section of the book, he clearly states the page number, where you can go back and refer to that section. His treatment of shadows is typical of how he addresses each subject in his little book.
José opens the chapter with a brief discussion of what Van Gogh once said about shadows, and discusses how artists currently view shadows as blue; whereas, at one time, they were viewed as similar to Van Dyck brown, or burnt umber. He explains how the post-impressionists discovered that the basic color of shadows is blue, and he devotes an entire lesson to actually showing us how that is so. Next, he devotes a second lesson to understanding the local color in darker tones, which he also points out is somewhat reminiscent of an old master's painting. In the first lesson, he gives us a samplestill life painting, all in shades of blue. In the second lesson, we see the same still life painting, where the shadows are not made with blue, but only by using darker tones of the local colors. The third lesson deals with the complementary color of the local color. Here, we are given a thirdexample of the still life, painted this time in complementary colors, which are used as shadows. José also points out that the still life now looks very much like the style of some paintings by Toulouse-Lautrec, Cézanne, and especially Van Gogh, with the contrast originating from the juxtaposition of the most opposed colors, of highest contrast. He is not advising us to paint like this, only to help us understand. The fourth lesson in the chapter deals with the finished painting. We now see the same still life painted correctly, with proper use three types of colors in the shadows: blue, the local color in darker tones, and the complementary of the local color. As José carefullly guides our eye through each step of the process, we now really understand what he wants us to see!
I then read the other chapters, in order from the beginning. One of the best discussions dealt with looking at various landscape scenes (shown in photographs) and how each painter asks himself, "What color is it, actually?" He then takes us through a whole lesson, showing us his own thoughts (and sometimes, confusion) as he paints the landscape, trying to decide what color each thing is. This really helped me see that every painter is going throught the same thought processes, and having the same problems that I am.
I have several unfinished paintings I am still working on, and yet, after several years, was unable to determine, by looking, just what the problem was. After reading two-thirds of this book yesterday, I looked at my paintings this morning, and can see the solutions immediately! Now I finally know what to do. If only I had found this wonderful book sooner!
I was pleased to look on the back cover and find that José, himself, has written a number of other art books in this series, dealing with many other topics. So often in a series, each book is written by a different author. José is such a wonderful art teacher that I am delighted to see HE has written all of them. I intend to purchase several more ofhis books, as soon as I am able.』
This guide explains how colour works in nature and how it can be manipulated to make expressive paintings. After covering the more scientific aspects of colour theory, the author offers information which analyzes a subject in terms of local, tonal, reflected and shadow colour. He demonstrates how to prepare a palette and how to obtain a wide colour range from specific mixtures. He defines and discusses colour harmonies, complements, and contrasts and shows the reader how to use cool and warm hues expressively, and how to juxtapose harmonious or discordant colours to produce different psychological and visual effects.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Not as good as the original.) 『As I read this book, I found myself wondering why it was still in print in 2008. It features creaky old rules such as "never wear trousers to the office, because women in higher management only wear skirts." This was sound advice fifteen years ago, but today? Hardly. This book uses a twelve-season system of color analysis instead of Carole Jackson's original four season system. It promises to be more personalized, and yet somehow, it isn't. It limits the colors you are "allowed" to wear to a certain depth and hue. For example, if you are a Deep Winter like me, you have. to. wear. deep. dark. colors. all. the. darned. time. Oh, and red or burgundy lipstick, too! No pink for you! [Cue the slap of a soup ladle] Even the lighter "neutrals" must be paired with black or what have you. The original Color Me Beautiful Winter palette features a range of colors, from black and navy to light, icy colors and many shades in between. I will say this for "Looking Your Best": It shows color swatches of make-up shades, which are very helpful to someone like me, who doesn't have the slightest idea what "smoked teal" or "greyed plum" is. I also didn't mind the color swatches that looked like they were done with crayons. No, they weren't extremely clear, but you do get the idea. Still, this doesn't quite compensate for the book's shortcomings, the worst of which is when the authors proclaim that no non-Caucasian woman can be a Spring or Summer. That's so wrong that it's not even wrong. Yes, they certainly can, and they are! Verdict: Stick with Carole Jackson. Her 1980 book "Color Me Beautiful" manages, despite its oh-so-80's illustrations, to be timeless.』
(Still the Best -- After All These Years) 『It's the end of 2007. I live in L.A., where staying on the cutting edge of fashion is practically blood sport (pun intended), and I can't believe I'm saying this: I bought this book on a whim. I found a cheap, used copy and thought, "Why not?" When I found tons of useful information, including the first correct "diagnoses" of my season AND my body type, I just about fell out of my chair.
I've tried the original CMB, and the supposedly new-and-improved methods by Doris Pooser and Leatrice Eisemann. They don't hold a candle to this method of finding your best colors and styles. Instead of three color palettes (Eisemann), four (the original CMB), or six (Pooser), Spillane and Sherlock give us twelve to choose from, and a simple rule for expanding our palettes as designers present new colors. If, like me, you don't fit comfortably in the more limited seasonal/time-of-day systems, you'll find yourself here (people of color are included and well represented).
When you find your best colors, wearing an actual color (instead of the ubiquitous black) makes you look and feel sophisticated, stylish, and au courant. This method even works when you want -- or need -- to blend in or present a conservative image. What a relief, and what a pleasure!
Spillane and Sherlock don't just give advice on finding the best clothes for your figure; they actually include a formula. All you need is a tape measure to figure out your bodyline. Then, just follow their advice, and you're on your way.
Other reviewers have mentioned the outdated illustrations and the crayon-style swatches. The bad news is that books, like styles, go out of date. The good news is that, armed with your favorite Internet search engine; the name of your new, expanded season; and a well-constructed search term (like, say, "cool summer" + swatches), you can find several ways to buy fabric swatches in this expanded seasonal color system. With this book and your fabric swatches in hand, you can't go wrong. And, maybe, if enough people ask for it, they'll publish a new edition of this book, or create a web site where styles and photos can be regularly updated.』
(Liked the original better) 『The author has some valid points in this more-or-less updated book on Color Me Beautiful. However, I really liked the first method better. It was simpler to follow, easier to understand, and less time-consuming. But, if you're really into this, it is an interesting read with some good information. Just know that you'll be picking yourself out from twelve different types as opposed to the original four!』
(Color Me Beautiful Expanded) 『I really found this book helpful in the way of the 12 seasonal groups as opposed to the original CMB which only determines the original Summer, Winter, Autumn and Spring. I have been told (by CMB) that this was created due to the fact that some women were unhappy with the original CMB seasons. The color swatches are not the best in this book and it fails to show all the colors in a palette, shortfalling with a list at the back of the book. It helps if you already know what season you are before reading this book. I had my colors done a couple of years ago by a Color Consultant. Therefore I can determine that I am a Clear Winter from reading this quite easily. I then contacted CMB and purchased a packet of fabric swatches from them. Although someone who isn't sure of their season may find it difficult working it out. The best way to do this is via professional color consultant.
Because I already knew my season and bought swatches from CMB I find this book indespensible. I am very pleased with the Clear Winter color palette I now have. The section on body type is excellent too. Although some of the book is a little dated, much of the advice is timeless.』
(One of the best...) 『...books on makeup. Not everyone knows "how" to do it well but this is not only a book to "read" but also practical in its uses on how to do makeup well.』 『The classic makeup and style book, now updated for the 1990s and expanded to 12 color palettes.』
