Of the 291 designs, only 40 are full color! Of those 40 color designs, about 10 look like they are scans of carpets. The rest are black and white graphics. Of the black and white, 24 are frames, 27 are pictures,&200 are letters of the alphabet. Overall, you aren't getting what you pay for, even at the low Amazon price.』
(Not For Everyone) 『All of Dover's books are beautiful. However, because the images are skewed, there is no repeat pattern.』
(beautiful images which print very well) 『This book includes a selection of black&white picture frames in both narrow and wide styles. The narrow ones have turned out to be very useful for innermost frames of pictures and other images, then surrounded by color frames. I've even used the black&white picture images for hand-coloring. But the color images in this book are magnificent, and they print exactly as well as one would hope. This dover collection is a credit to them.』 『
From a rare sourcebook: more than 250 superb designs depicting decorative letters, elaborate floral borders, body type, and delicate woodcut illustrations. Together with a smaller selection of full-color designs once used in wallpaper, tapestries and other domestic accessories, the handsome motifs offer a vast storehouse of ideas. 291 designs, 40 in full color.
IPhone 3G used's review (A great book) 『Let me start by saying it's a great book! It's an 8 1/2" x 11" book full of large color illustrations - 200 in total. The only B&W image is the author's photo on the jacket. That's a huge plus. Too many times in the book store I've picked up books on impressionism to find more B&W plates than color. I don't see the point of showing impressionist paintings in B&W... even when discussing just composition.
The book addresses over 50 topics on painting impressionist style paintings with multiple discussions on colors, brushstrokes, figures, composition, and more. Each topic is illustrated with one or more paintings by Dawley and many include one or more close-ups and even photographs of the original scene to reference.
To me, a realist painter who wants to be a little more painterly or dabble in impressionism, this is an invaluable reference that illustrates and describes concepts that I can learn from and apply to my work. I believe it would be even more valuable to someone whose main goal is to paint like the impressionists.
FYI - This book is subtitled "An Impressionist's View" and is the same book with that subtitle available on Amazon.』
(Wonderful Book!) 『This book has beautiful illustrations and would be an asset to any landscape painter's library.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Loved this coloring book) 『This coloring book is definitely in my top 5 all time greats - and I have colored 40 or 50 coloring books. I am an adult colorer and this is my hobby.
The illustrations are wonderful, each page shows a different dancer in motion with a marvelous costume. There are also small pictures of the originals inside the front and back covers as a guide, and each page identifies the character the dancer is portraying and the ballet it is from.
As usual with Mr. Noble doing the illustrating - it presented some interesting challenges as to what something was at times, along with my finding some of it humorous. For some reason, unknown to me, Mr. Noble seems to be against things matching - so frequently there will be a cuff on one sleeve but not on the other, even the design patterns are not always consistent, and I don't think he had a pair of shoes matching in any of the pictures. However, I did not let that bother me - I merely drew a line here and there if needed, or shrugged, laughed and colored the picture anyway.
The costumes are very intricately decorated and I found the best way to color them was to do a solid laydown of color with block pastel chalk, which I applied using a Q-tip and a small tool with which to grip it. Then I could quite easily apply a marker color over the small designs.
I think trying to color around each of those small designs that cover the costume would be difficult. As it is, one will definitely need a marker or pen with a fine point. I used Sakura markers, Sonic gel pens in assorted colors and Y&R fabricmate markers on mine.
I would call this a coloring book for adults only - I doubt many children would find it very interesting and they would be unable to color such small spaces in order to color the patterns on the costumes.

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Every Color User's Essential Book!) 『In the age of digital cameras, printouts and projectors, almost everyone needs some introduction to color and color reproduction.
If you are a professional working in color reproduction, there are plenty of books on color engineering and computational color science - those by Phil Green et al, Stephen Westland, William Hunt are all good examples. But Maureen Stone's book has filled a long felt gap at a different level, where you need to understand the fundamentals thoroughly to get the best out of your everyday color reproduction equiptment - your computer monitor, color printer, your digital camera - what have you.
Three features of the book make it stand out: first, the selection of topics within its twelve chapters, second, the accuracy of the technical inforamation, and third the writing style. In fact, I am not sure if there is another book in the market on digital color at this level!
Ms Stone has selected just the right topics for providing a grounding in the issues of color reproduction. Her treatment of the Color Management Systems is probably one of the best at this level that I am familiar with. Color theory is complex. It is a hard-core science from one angle, an art from another angle, and an engineering discipline from yet another. The book has done a good job of summarizing the results precisely and explaining them accurately in a manner that almost anyone with interest in colors can understand.
The free-flowing writing style makes it easy to read - I finished reading through the book in about a week! And, now I keep going back to it off and on, just to confrim (or re-learn) my fundamentals.
The references and annotations to references are very useful.
This is the first book on colors for every computer user, digital camera user, color printer user and for graphics engineers.
』
(Excellent introduction) 『An excellent and friendly introduction to digital color. In particular, the color images are well-done and helpful. This is the best book I've found for a general survey of the basic science and engineering of digital color devices. Those interested in research in these areas might also want the more advanced text, Digital Color Imaging Handbook, edited by Gaurav Sharma.』
(Excellent Resource) 『"A Field Guide to Digital Color" is an excellent introduction and reference for those who need to know more about color that "it exists" but who do not live and breathe GretagMacbeth color charts.
This book is wonderful for photographers of all levels who own Photoshop or a similar image editing program and are serious about editing their photos and getting things "just right". For amateurs, it serves as an excellent guide for gaining understanding of the key concepts related to how the eye sees color, color mixing systems (additive and subtractive), color matching, perceptive effects that humans eyes have when colors are placed near each other, scanning images, color spaces, printing images, matching color spaces.
Although the book is by no means the answer to specific questions you might have about your situation, it provides references for all of the materials used and you can research a particular subject you need to gain further knowledge of quite easily. It will also help you to develop the terminology necessary to ask the right questions of an expert.
I am an advanced photographer and work with computer graphics (OpenGL) and found this book to be very useful for providing an overview of the entire chain of color from seeing it with our eyes, capturing images, manipulating them on a computer, and then outputting them for our eyes again with a printer, monitor, or other output device.』
(A thorough, professional quality resource) 『A Field Guide To Digital Color by computer expert Maureen C. Stone is a handy user manual to digital color on the computer, and applying digital color for maximum visual effect. From RGB and Brightness, to additive and subtractive color systems, to color image capture, reproduction, and appearance, A Field Guide To Digital Color is a thorough, professional quality resource (and includes an annotated bibliography for in-depth reference and future study) which is confidently recommended for novice and experienced digital artists seeking to master and manipulate this demanding medium.』 『The book provides the foundation for understanding colour and its applications, discusses colour media and colour management and the use of colour in computer graphics, including colour design and selection.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (A good Samurai story...) 『If you like Lone Wolf&Cub or Path of the Assassin, you should like this series. It's a one-volume story.
Without going into the specifics of the story, the artwork is sketchy but drawn well, just like Lone Wolf&Cub although the words aren't as small as Lone Wolf and Cub which was a plus.
What's unusual about this manga is that it has a black man in the story living&fighting along with a Japanese man. The Japanese man teaches the black man how to live in Japan and about their culture as they go through towns to survive.
I thought it was real interesting and a great read. Bit different than most Samurai mangas I've read.
I rated it 4 stars because I thought it was a great series to read, although not the best manga I've read. In my opinion the best Samurai mangas are: Vagabond, Blade Of the Immortal, Lone Wolf&Cub and so forth. This series rates behind them, still a great read! 』 『Two slaves free themselves from a slave ship, one a Japanese man, the other an African American. After escaping they find themselves on the shore of Edo-era Japan, a society with a strong caste system, isolated from the world. How will the Japanese people perceive this giant black man, how will they survive? But first things first, how will they get these shackles off their feet? Fans of Kazuo Koike know how he loves to turn out a sensational samurai-era yarn with a certain sense of chauvinist violence and pulpy sexiness, and Color of Rage is by no means a slacker in these categories. Drafted by pin-up artist and mangaka Seisaku Kano, Color of Rage features plenty of action, fighting, blood, sexiness, and more fighting.』
