(Color Me Confident - Wonderful Resource)
『I first used this book two years ago, after checking it out from the local library. Right away I knew I'd found a great resource. It was definitely inspiring to finally know (not just guess) what colors "work" for me and it opened up several new color options I had not considered before. Great book!』

(Color Me Confident)
『Great book...all kinds of useful info. I use it a lot for finding colors that complement me.』

(Changes everything)
『After I read this book in a Barnes and Noble I was so intrigued I had to buy it to keep since I kept going back to check its information. I love the photographs of celebrities that match your skin, hair and eye color and the huge spread of colors that will make you look great.

Right away I started getting complements from everyone at work and at home once I got the hang of which colors worked and which didn't. This is not the fuddy duddy old lady version advocated by Bridget Jones' mother; its a specific list of colors to use plus combinations that are particularly striking to your eyes, skin and hair.

One of my favorite experiences with this system was with a teenage student of mine. At fifteen, over two hundred pounds, she was hiding behind outfit after outfit of head-to-toe brown. I mentioned to her that she might try wearing brighter colors and showed her her pages in the book. When she made the shift to brilliant pinks, fuschias and bright blues, I started hearing kid after kid complementing her on how pretty she looked.

You'll love this book and it will make shopping a whole different experience when you can eliminate 1/2 of what is in the store by color alone and know what will look good on you.』

(Amazing)
『This book has taught me how to totally "work" my natural coloring.

I never read Color Me Beautiful aside from a quick flip-through at the library years ago-- I think I was kind of put off because I fell into the "Winter" category but so did a LOT of colorings that were radically different than mine, and trying to weed out which of the winter recommendations applied to me was difficult. This book makes it much more obvious which specific coloring you are.

What I _really_ love about this book is that it not only tells you which colors are best for you, but also gives you LOTS of suggestions on combining your colors that I had never thought of before. I skeptically tried out some of the color combinations in department stores and was truly surprised by how good they looked. This book had me trying on colors I had previously passed over with great results.

I even changed out my lipstick shades and blush from warm to cool shades and it made my eye color pop and I look a lot more vibrant.

The dressing-for-your-body type was also helpful for me as well as dressing for your style (there were more great color combination recommendations there, too).

I cleaned out my closet of clothes that were in colors that don't suit me and had no regrets.

I recommend that you get this book, take note of the suggestions and put aside your personal opinions "oh that won't work on me." Get yourself to a department store and try things on in the colors and combinations they recommend. You'll be surprised!

5 stars!』

(Mixed praise and referrals)
『This is a variation on the color system that assigns people to the four seasons. It is an interesting addition to that idea, I was only disappointed that they spent as little time as they did on the color information. A good part of the book is dedicated to body shape and styling tips. By the way, David Kibbe's theories in his book Metamorphosis are the best ideas ever re dressing to suit one's shape, the very best, and yet he seems to get very little attention. People interested in this book might want to check out his, as well. It is out of print, but available used and therefore inexpensive. "Color Me Beautiful," by Carole Jackson is about the original color system--seasonal--and is still a good read.』

The first book from the Color Me Beautiful team—created more than 25 years ago—still continues to sell well, and the world’s leading image consultancy is back with an updated look at fashion and cosmetics.

Millions of people have used this internationally recognized system to look and feel better. Think of it as feng shui for the body, a way of using color to make yourself sparkle from head to toe and glow from within. And now the Color Me Beautiful organization presents brand-new, totally contemporary strategies in an easy-to-follow and lushly illustrated volume. Guided by questionnaires, photos and palettes, and boxed pointers, anyone can do a color analysis and figure out what shades work best with her skin, hair, and eye tones. Confidence-building plans feature ideal outfits for any shape; tricks for adapting your wardrobe to different lifestyles; and ideas for developing a stylish, original approach to dress. Plus, there’s makeup and accessory advice for that perfect finishing touch.

『Very useful book. Even though I majored in art in college, I didn't learn all that's in this book. It's changed the appearance of my paintings totally. I love it. I'm already ordering the one for portrait colors too. Very easy to use, with quick, exciting results. Someone mentioned that the colors were "out of date," referring to Hansa Yellow in particular. Hansa Yellow is a pretty standard color in the artist's palette, and not out of date. Colors may go out of date in fashion, but not on an artists palette.』

(Colour Mixing Recipes)
『This is an excellent book for painters just starting out, or painters in general.
Mixing recipes for more than 450 colour combinations. This book is a Must.』

(Good resourse, but colors are outdated)
『Very good quality printing, so you can get a good read. It was helpful, but I ended up making my own charts with the current colors that I keep. Who uses Hansa Yellow?』

(Color Mixing Recipes)
『I do like spiral-bound books which feature either brushstrokes or in this case, recipes, as the pages lie flat (there is no spine to flatten or pages which keep flipping at a vital stage). The book starts with a general overview of color theory but doesn't get obsessive about it. Then come the recipes which are clear, easy to understand and there is a plastic color mixing grid at the back to help get the proportions accurate. The book deals with Oils but there is a conversion chart for Acryllics included. At 49 pages and with a hardcover, it is compact and easy to carry. I liked the over all format of the book which also includes a small section on Portrait Colors.』

(Color Mixing Recipes)
『This book is great for anyone who loves to paint, but struggles with getting just the right tone...just the right shade...even just the right color! While I've noted that a few "recipes" contain errors (it's pretty clear that mixing one part white with four parts cadmium yellow medium will not yield a "pumpkin" orange), I still find the book useful because it allows one to see what combinations and proportions of colors will result in a desired hue, value, or intensity. While Powell acknowledges in the Instructions that paint colors vary somewhat among brands, I have noted one or two colors that are significantly different from the paint I usually buy (Windsor-Newton oils). Even so, I have been quite pleased with the results, and I believe my painting is all the better for using this guide. I certainly recommend it to anyone who has experienced the frustration of having mixed selected colors only to discover that the end result is totally wrong for its intended use!

『The popular Color Mixing Recipe Cards have served as a handy reference of essential colour combinations for almost 10 years. And now this collection of recipes is available in an updated, convenient format developed with artists' needs in mind. Re-packaged in a concealed wire-o-bound book that lies flat, the recipe cards will always stay in order with no risk of getting lost. The book also comes with a smart pocket that holds the detachable, washable Color Mixing Grid - a perfect guide for accurately measuring paints. With William F. Powell's recipes for mixing more than 450 colour combinations, along with instruction in a variety of painting techniques, "Color Mixing Recipes" is a valuable and practical resource for both oil and acrylic artists!』

(Another Great Addition To The Republic Commando Series)
『Karen Traviss continues with the great storytelling that she started in the first two novels in the Republic Commando series; Hard Contact (Star Wars: Republic Commando) and Triple Zero (Star Wars: Republic Commando), and continues with the fourth installment, Order 66 (Star Wars: Republic Commando). The best thing about this series of Star Wars novels, is the simple tact she takes with developing the characters and making you feel for them, rather than having absurd and absurd battles of some sort all the time. Yes, there is plenty of action, but it takes a back seat to the story telling of each of these characters as they tackle internal turmoil about what they are doing, who they are doing it for, and most importantly why?

I really liked the way that Traviss "humanizes" the clones and the Jedi so that you can really get to know them and their individual personal struggles that they are going through with the various facets of their lives.

The story is well written and it is very easy to read. Perhaps too much in some cases, as I seem to read for hours before ever putting the book down. But if that is my only complaint, I guess that would be more of a positive comment than a negative. In any regards, you really should pick up this series and start reading it. It harkens back to the days of Timothy Zahn and the Heir to the Empire Trilogy, which if you haven't read you definitely need to do so.

『True Colors, book 3 of 4, brings about the ethical side of the Clone Wars. What happens to crippled and aged clones? Are clones people or just cannon fodder like droids? Sarg. Skirata will do what he can to help his boys to make sure they have a future, General Etain will attempt to give Darman a glimpse of what it is to be a "normal" person. A great book, very well written, gripping from beginning to end. I look forward to the last installment.』

(awsome)
『story line improves with each on the trilogy. Mrs. Traviss is a great military author.』

(Traviss raises the bar for SW novels)
『True Colors is what most SW books are not: intelligent, dramatic, internally realistic, and morally complex.

A sequel to the previous Republic Commando novel, Triple Zero, True Colors follows Delta and Omega Squads as they seek to capture scientist Ko Sai, the master geneticist of the Republic's clone army. Having fled Kamino with records of the cloning program, she's now being hunted by Palpatine and other commercial cloners eager to appropriate her work. But where these parties are motivated by commercial and political potential, Delta and Omega Squads have a more personal interest, to coerce the scientist into prolonging their lives by slowing down the quick-aging process built into their genetic code.

It's a fairly simple story made complex by attention to character and theme, something most Star Wars writers glance over if they think of it at all. Many employ a comfortable shorthand in which certain kinds of characters or characteristics are good, others bad, and the situations in which they find themselves clear cut. Traviss, though, paints in shades of gray, in which heroes have faults, bad guys are sometimes good, and the choices they have to make rarely easy.

The clone soldiers struggle to comprehend the enormity - and irony - of their burden, to die for a Republic that claims to defend freedom and liberty but values its clone warriors less than machines. Though content to do that for which they have been bred, the clones begin to resent being taken for granted, especially by their Jedi generals, men and women who through their relationship with the Force claim to have a wider and deeper appreciation of life in all its forms. The Jedi are painfully aware of their responsibilities to the clones, but find themselves trapped by tradition and circumstance serving the Republic, setting aside the rights of their soldiers to first fight the greater threat posed by the Separatists.

With no one to look after their interests but themselves, the clone commandos and their Mandalorian trainers set in motion a plan to free themselves from the tyranny of genetics and societal neglect, to give themselves an opportunity to live a life of normal men. But to do that they have to go against their breeding and training to disobey orders, aid deserters, deceive trusted comrades, kill fellow clone troopers and Mandalorians, and put civilian associates at risk. Complicit in their schemes are two Jedi commanders who discover first hand the dangers of attachment to loved ones and the equally dangerous detachment from avoiding difficult decisions.

In the end the commandos and the Jedi find that by looking closely at the thing you hate, you begin to understand it, to see that it exists much the same as you, as the expression of conditions that brought you into existence. Ko Sai is from a society that as a result of ecological disaster had to euthanize weaker members of its species to survive. For the Kaminoans the universe is a cold and harsh place that demands difficult choices, choices other species seem unable to take, but from which the commandos do not shy. In taking extraordinary measures to protect their own kind, in not being able to depend on the help of outsiders, the clones and Ko Sai find they have something in common. And in a universe in which many see the clones as little more than crude fighting machines, the Jedi begin to see that what they might have considered brutish behavior is as much a result of breeding as it is the tasks the Jedi and the Republic call upon the clones to perform.

This is the finest Star Wars novel ever written. Where Triple Zero was weighed down by excessive detail on weaponry, technology, and Mandalorian culture, True Colors pulses with the warmth of life and the honest portrayal of human conflict. There is no SW novel that can compare in depth of character and ethical complexity (though Matthew Stover's novels come close). On the one hand I'm glad Traviss wrote it. It was a fine read and shows that licensed fiction need not be hackneyed product. On the other, I despair of reading anything as fine until Traviss' next Republic Commando novel.

If you enjoyed True Colors, then by all means check out Traviss Wess'har series, which covers much of the same thematic ground.

(Great Book)
『My 13 month old son loves this item, he loves looking at the bright colors. The book is a little smaller than I thought i would be, but it is perfect size for my son to hold.』

(Confusing. Could be much better.)
『My one year old daughter really enjoyed looking at the babies in this book when we received it, though she became bored with it after a couple of weeks. Here is what I don't like: The purpose is to teach colors, but the colors are confusing on two pages. On the red page, the little girl is wearing a pink jumper over a mauve outfit. The only truly red thing in the picture is the strawberry. On the pink page, the dress has yellow, orange and red flowers on it. Another confusing aspect is that on the green page, a leaf is the highlighted object , but the little boy is not holding a leaf. For every other color there is a highlighted object, and the baby displays that object in some way, but they are inconsistent with the green. If your child loves to look at pictures of babies, you may want to buy this book, but if you want to teach your child colors and show him/her consistency, you can do a better job making this book yourself.』

(A Teacher in a Book)
『This book literally taught my daughter all of her colors. I highly recommend it to anyone teaching colors or just to have reading-time with your child.』

(Feeling green)
『This is number two of a series. It is about two girls that get in a huge fight over a boy named Timothy. What happened was, Timothy was going out with Shawna and then he broke up with her to go out with her friend Jordan. Now Shawna is spreading all kinds of rumors about Jordan. This book has a lot of drama in it, so if you like books with drama in it you will love this book. What I like about this book is, that it has good descriptive words and really helps the reader visualize what's going on in the story. I also like the title Deep Green. I like reading books with a lot of drama and this book has a lot of that. It was so good that at one point I didn't want to put the book down. I think you will really enjoy this book.

(The Love Triangle)
『Deep Green is a very dramatic book about a girl named Jordan who somehow gets trapped in a Love Triangle. Jordan is a cheerleader at her school along with her so-called best friends. Now that Jordan has become a cheerleader she has also earned a good reputation with the boys. Jordan finds herself in love with a senior, Timothy, who is her best friend, Shawna's, ex-boyfriend. The real drama comes when Shawna finds out about Jordan and Timothy. So Shawna tries everything in her strength to get Timothy back. Jordan isn't about to give up the one she loves, so she does everything she can to get him back in her arms. Every attempt that she makes becomes a failure. So finally Jordan finds help in God.

Deep Green is a very good book. This book shows what kids go through on a day-to-day basis. Deep Green also teaches you that there are more important things in life than relationships, things like God and friends. This book is a great influence on teens because it shows you that no matter what trouble you go through, God will always be there for you.

(Deep Book)
『This book is the second book in the true colors sequel. It talks a lot about friends being jealous of each other because of a guy and what they would each do to get him to be a part of their life. One of the girls is in so much trouble and confusion that she goes back to one of her old friends that she dumped when she made cheerleading and started hanging out with the cool kids.
I liked this book because it talks a lot about teenage girls average life and some people might be able to relate to this book and figure out some of there own problems.
I disliked this book because even if some girls are going threw what the book talks about some things are hard to believe that they would ever happen.
I would recommend this book to anyone who has read any other of Melody Carlson's books.

(An accurate portrayal of the pitfalls of high school dating, social mores, and teenage insecurities)
『For readers new to Melody Carlson's series that centers on specific emotional states, this second installment continues where the first ended. In book one, DARK BLUE: COLOR ME LONELY, Carlson featured two high school girls who went their separate ways after one-half of the duo, Jordan Ferguson, made the cheerleading squad and callously abandoned her longtime friend for the popular set. After months of mental and emotional torture, Jordan's former best friend, Kara Hendricks, finds a personal faith in God and begins reordering her once shattered world much to Jordan's continued disapproval.

DEEP GREEN: COLOR ME JEALOUS includes both characters, yet the focus is now on Jordan's trials and tribulations as the newbie to the cheerleading world of cutthroat competition and backstabbing smile to your face, so-called friend/enemy camp. It doesn't take long for Jordan to unwittingly step on some socially uppity toes before a war breaks out, and Jordan becomes the sometimes victim, other times co-initiator scheming her own brand of vengeance tactics.

The script? Jordan steals another cheerleader's boyfriend and Shawna Frye is out for blood. Specifically, Jordan denies causing the breakup between Shawna and Timothy Lawrence and soon begins denying her own personal standards in hopes of keeping her new boyfriend close by and interested. Enter the often shortsighted and regret-laced party scene, where it becomes clear that Timothy is neither the gentleman nor the selfless hero Jordan had envisioned. In true nightmare form, Timothy places himself back in Shawna's arms. Jordan is crushed, then angry, then consumed by jealousy.

Carlson's portrayal of the emotional posture of a jilted and envious teen is compelling, and it hurts to read about Jordan's pain (much of it self-imposed). Still, the author knows how to sustain interest and Jordan's journey to a healthier, saner, mental place is entirely believable. By book's end, Jordan realizes that Kara's faith just might be more than a passing fad, and she takes a serious and introspective look at exactly what believing in Christ can mean for her personally.

Young adults will appreciate Carlson's accurate portrayal of the pitfalls of high school dating, social mores, and all the lingering doubts that make their way to a person's deepest core.

(twisted love triangle)
『Jordon Ferguson used to be best friends with Shawna Frye until they both fell in love with Timothy Lawrence. Jordon was trying to win Timothy from Shawna when she joined the cheerleading squad. She also dropped her old best friend, Kara, on the sidelines too. Ever since Jordon had been getting everything she wanted like Timothy from Shawna and Making cheerleading, she almost forgot about everyone else's lives. Shawna and Jordon had to cheer together so Jordon tried being friends again with Shawna. She gave Shawna her Beatles collection to try and get to be her friend again. Timothy and Jordon went to a party were Timothy got drunk and started going out with Shawna again. It was Ashley's party and her house was getting trashed so she kicked everyone out and found Shawna and Timothy in the bed together. That week Shawna was getting back at Jordon for taking her boyfriend away by stealing Jordon's pants and car keys. This was a mistake because then Jordon got suspended by the coach and also got a ride with Timothy the next week. Something happens to Timothy and Shawna which ruins them from there real life being fulfilled.

I really like this book because it did not bore you over the same things again and again. I also really liked this book because it got you thinking about everything that was happening and you could always picture everything that was going to happen because it gave you clues. It did not give the answers away before it needed to be given away. I also really dislike the book because the author did not explain all the things very well and it was also in some ways confusing.

I think anyone who likes crazy love stories would like this book. Also, people who are into reading books about kids or friends fighting each other to win a guy over would like it. This book is kind of related to Dear Nobody.

『Last year at this time, Jordan never would have thought her junior year would be like this: stuck in a twisted love triangle with Shawna Frye and Timothy Lawrence. But when Timothy broke up with Shawna--to date Jordan!--what else could she have done?

When Shawna lures Timothy back, Jordan feels absolutely green with envy--so much so that she considers doing anything to get him back. Anything. Eventually, her frustration draws her back to her former best friend, Kara, who knows what it's like to be betrayed. She introduces Jordan to someone who can change her whole life.

Carrying over characters and themes from the first book of the TrueColors series, Deep Green introduces new layers of complexity and depth. Includes jealousy related discussion questions.』

A hands-on way for children to learn about color—and express their creativity!

With this innovative book, young artists experience the wonder of color and learn through discovery how colors mix and change. By combining unique translucent stickers, one color on top of another, children can create new colors and then change them in an instant. The reusable stickers easily peel away from the special laminated pages so that a fresh“canvas” is always at the ready.

The more than two thousand stickers come in geometric shapes of various sizes, which can be arranged to create people, animals, airplanes, cars, and more. Each spread suggests a familiar setting such as home, a playground, a beach, and a farm, with a few illustrations started for inspiration. As children manipulate the circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, wedges, and ovals, they will begin to see the geometry of the world, as artists do.

Warning: Choking hazard—small parts. Nontoxic. Not for children under 3 years. Conforms to ASTM D4236.

(Inspiring Autobiography)
『For anyone who pretends to understand the issues of race, poverty, and family, this book is a must read. It lays bare the underbelly of American experience by shining a bright light on discrimination, segregation, the failure of the social systems and the consequences of alcoholism, as well as physical and emotional abuse on children. While the author's situation is understandably frightful while he was a young child, this is nevertheless no maudlin tale. It is recounted sincerely and without the unnecessary pulling of heartstrings. The reader's empathic response needs no teasing out when presented with the straightforward portrayal of the author's upbringing. The fact that this story unravels in Muncie, Indiana, rather than somewhere in the South might come as a surprise to those who believe that the black/white race issue is mostly a regional problem.

This author was able to rise above his difficult childhood, attend college, attend law school and eventually become the Dean of a law school. I have heard him speak in

(Beautiful images and layout)
『This textbook has a variety of excellent images, including photomicrographs, diagrams, and electron micrographs. Clinical correlations are included in boxes that stand out from the text. Key words are highlighted. Tables are well done and the text is very easy to read. Powerpoint presentations for the chapters can be found on-line for users of the text.

I liked the paperback binding and the quality of the paper.

The only disappointment I had was in trying to confirm a statement and I found no reference citations. Unless the authors did the research themselves, the statement should have been referenced.』
