The initial sections are divided by color type (pales, pastels, brights, neutrals, greys, deeps, darks), while the follow-up sections show combinations of colors, often matching colors from one section with another. I found myself thinking "I would never have thought to put those colors together but, wow! they look great!")
It would be hard to over-endorse Designer's Guide to Color 4. This book is wonderful for anyone who works with color, from the fine art student trying to get a handle on color harmony, to the mom attempting to teach her pre-teen son how not to leave the house looking like a demented clown.
Whether you need a basic reference on tried-n-true color groupings or fresh new design ideas, this book will fit the bill. Thank you, Ikuyoshu Shibukawa! 』
(Good color reference) 『This book is a treasure when searching for innovative color combinations. Just when I thought I had run out of ideas, I found this book. It helps you use color in ways that you would not have thought of using them. The listing of the CMYK color is useful for print and can be transposed with the use of any graphics program into the RGB color. It is a great reference for web as well as print designers.』 『The most important color reference book series on the market, this guide contains over one thousand color combinations, this time categorized by tone. Tones are first divided into four major groups, from bright and clear to deep and subdued; these groups are then further divided, gradation by gradation, within the limits of printability. A veritable "dictionary of color," this compact guide provides an abundance of color schemes for tones in the same group as well as for those in different groups that go well together. Each color combination includes a description of the density of the colors, showing tint percentages for printing purposes. Charts of fluorescent colors, which are in high demand for special printing, are included as well. An indispensable reference for graphic designers, this guide will also prove invaluable to those working with fashion, interior design, illustration, fabric design, or literally anyone making a color choice.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Maybe Mr. Noble was having an off day) 『I dislike giving bad reviews, especially on a Dover publication as their books are of very high quality, but I was disappointed in this coloring book.
Maybe Marty Noble (the illustrator of this coloring book) was ill, having a bad day, I don't know.
I have never seen trees drawn like this before in my life. It made me wonder if Mr. Noble has never seen a tree. Trees do not put out branches that then grow into the trunk or branch of another tree.
Trying to illustrate an oil painting as a line drawing is probably difficult, and perhaps Marty Noble was trying to show us highlights and shadows, but the extra lines merely confused the drawing for me. He also sometimes had lines that started up and then connected with nothing.
There are also images in some of the pictures that resemble nothing identifiable, and the buildings and houses just kind of ramble about at times.
I also found some of the paintings chosen to illustrate the book were, unfortunately, not the most interesting ones that could have been chosen, but that of course is a matter of personal taste.
There are thumbnail images of each of the paintings on the inside front and back covers as a guide, but they are so tiny they were not of much help to me.
In conclusion, I did not enjoy this coloring book as much as I have others I have done from Dover, but I suppose there's bound to be a fluke now'n'then. I have done dozens of Dover's coloring books and generally love them and enjoy them a great deal.

Not yet published IPhone 3G used's review (well organized, excellent layout) 『This atlas has the advantage of having sections based on the appearance of the lesions, thus giving you an easy way to look at a group of lesions as you are narrowing down your diagnosis. Each named lesion has a heading for description, etiology, typical visual clues, the differential diagnosis, diagnostic steps, treatment recommendations, suggested follow-up, clincial significance, and other useful clinical information. The photographs are clear and very descriptive.
Overall, this is an excellent reference text and it has the advantage of being remarkably reasonably priced considering the rest of the available options. It is also more user friendly and better organized as well. The spiral binding makes it easy to keep the book open while using it, and there are tabbed reference pages for the start of each section; the sections are white lesions, red lesions, ulcerated lesions, blistering/sloughing lesions, pigmented lesions, papillary lesions, and soft tissue enlargements. I returned the atlas that was required for my dental hygiene oral pathology class, and bought this one instead since it is the superior choice.』
(Good pictures) 『There are a lot of very helpful pictures and the summaries are good.』
(Textbook) 『It was exactly what i needed for school, in great condition. Great color photos!!』
(Excellent and very useful) 『I'm in family medicine and encounter oral pathology on a regular basis. This book can't be beat for the purpose of recognition and diagnosis of oral diseases. Excellent photographs and explanations cover the full gamut of pathology likely to be encountered, and arranged according to useful diagnostic schemes - by type, color, location, etc. Even contains an extensive quiz at the end to test your mastery. I liked it so much I bought another one for my dental hygienist wife (who also loves it).』
(Great for Students!) 『This book boasts 491 superb photos cleverly arranged to face the accompanying text. The explanations are not long and frightening but suitably succinct. You learn the presenting signs and symptoms, histology, disease progression, treatment options and likely prognosis; ideal for exam revision and coping with clinicians.
This book includes a short section on what is normal and normal variations present in the populations, which is particularly helpful especially for students who have only a limited clinical experience of what is normal. Diagrams with accompanying photos of clinical presentations and text explain diagnostic and descriptive terminology, aiding understanding of diagnoses and application of appropriate terms to clinical findings. The remaining chapters deal with the common oral diseases by anatomical landmarks (teeth, gingivae, tongue etc) and by colour changes (red, white, pigmented). Presenting and explaining conditions peculiar to the hard tissues, periodontal diseases, soft tissue lesions, benign and malignant neoplasms and oral manifestations of systemic diseases. The book includes a number of useful appendices. These include a translator for those common Latin abbreviations that leave us all clueless. The quick guide to the diagnosis and management of the most common oral lesions is excellent, I just wish that within the sections diseases were listed alphabetically and thus easier to find.
This book is an excellent aid to revision and includes a self-assessment quiz to help with exam preparation. It is also a handy guide for clinics, although it is too large to fit in a pocket and sneak onto clinic the size has allowed a much more practical and readable text. My copy is proving invaluable and is well thumbed, the cover is a little flimsy but can be easily transformed with some sticky back plastic and a bit of Blue Peter know how. This is a book I will continue to dip into』
『
The Fourth Edition of this user-friendly reference focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of oral manifestations of local or systemic diseases. It contains over 600 clear photographs and radiographic illustrations on the clinical manifestations of oral diseases and is presented in an easy-to-navigate format. In addition to new images, the Fourth Edition features several new topics, including malocclusion, temporomandibular joint disorders, drug-related oral lesions, and dental resorption.

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Race Relations - A Global Perspective) 『"The Cold War and the Color Line" by Thomas Borstlemann was a textbook in one of my stepson's history classes at Southeastern Louisiana University. He thought I might enjoy it and I did. The focus is on the presidencies of Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson during the U.S. civil rights era. Borstlemann describes how America's practice of racial segregation (and support of European colonial powers, and the segregationist regime in South Africa) hampered it in the minds of third world countries as these mostly non-white countries chose between capitalist and democratic systems and the Communist model. An interesting observation of Bortlesmann's is that the presidents that did the most in support of civil rights for racial minorities were those who grew up in the South--Truman (Missouri) desegregated the military; Johnson (Texas) got the Voting Rights Act passed, and both Carter (Georgia) and Clinton (Arkansas) took a strong interest in the rights of both African-Americans and blacks in Africa. On the other hand, the presidents raised outside the South (Eisenhower in Kansas, Kennedy in Massachusetts, Nixon in California, Reagan in Illinois and Bush in Connecticut) viewed racial equality as a secondary issue at best, or in some cases even worked to reverse past gains. As a "50-something", I lived through most of this era (albeit in central New York state, not the deep South), and found Borstlemann's work to be very illuminating. Since I've lived in the south (South Carolina, Virginia and Louisiana) for the last 30 years, I appreciated the book from the "new South" perspective as well. Highly recommended to students of history and race relations. 』
(The Cold War and Race Relations out of their Vacuums) 『In The Cold War and the Color Line, Borstelmann evaluates how US domestic and international race relations shaped the Cold War and how the Cold war shaped the domestic and international race relations. From my studies, and I imagine the studies of the majority of average Americans, the civil rights movement, de-colonization, and the Cold War happened in individual vacuums - separate from each other, only linked by common abstract dates. Borstelmann shows these happenings are all highly connected - at times acting as catalysts for another. "There was no greater weakness for the United States in waging the Cold War than inequality and discrimination," Borstelmann asserts. The United States had to confront racial segregation and discrimination within its own borders as well as regimes around the world to develop a multiracial global coalition against Soviet Communism. The US had to inspire the newly de-colonized non-white nations to sway towards the "free world." But how was the US to inspire a world, the majority non-white when Jim Crow was still firmly implanted in American society? Borstelmann follows the developments of these issues through the Presidencies that were tempered by the Cold War. I found the book a pleasant surprise. The book went beyond what I expected - being the race situations during the Cold War. Borstelmann took his work beyond that to a living political environment - domestic and international as one - where de-colonization, the Cold war environment, and the Civil Rights movement were taken out of their individual vacuums and thrown into a perspective that understands the complexities of that no so long ago reality. I am positive that anyone interested in race relations will embrace this book. Also I believe for a complete perspective of the Cold War or for any interested in the momentous events that transpired in the 20th century, this well researched book will make an excellent read.』 『
After World War II the United States faced two preeminent challenges: how to administer its responsibilities abroad as the world's strongest power, and how to manage the rising movement at home for racial justice and civil rights. The effort to contain the growing influence of the Soviet Union resulted in the Cold War, a conflict that emphasized the American commitment to freedom. The absence of that freedom for nonwhite American citizens confronted the nation's leaders with an embarrassing contradiction.
Racial discrimination after 1945 was a foreign as well as a domestic problem. World War II opened the door to both the U.S. civil rights movement and the struggle of Asians and Africans abroad for independence from colonial rule. America's closest allies against the Soviet Union, however, were colonial powers whose interests had to be balanced against those of the emerging independent Third World in a multiracial, anticommunist alliance. At the same time, U.S. racial reform was essential to preserve the domestic consensus needed to sustain the Cold War struggle.
The Cold War and the Color Lineis the first comprehensive examination of how the Cold War intersected with the final destruction of global white supremacy. Thomas Borstelmann pays close attention to the two Souths--Southern Africa and the American South--as the primary sites of white authority's last stand. He reveals America's efforts to contain the racial polarization that threatened to unravel the anticommunist western alliance. In so doing, he recasts the history of American race relations in its true international context, one that is meaningful and relevant for our own era of globalization.

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Timely and Informative) 『I first read this book for a graduate class in education, and I am now purchasing it for the second time. St. Louis is in the process of dismantling its voluntary desegregation program, and leaders are finding themselves asking the same questions they were at the program's inception. They are finding there are no clear solutions to the problem of race and equality in American society and schools, as evidenced in this excellently researched book.
TS Eliot said it better than I ever could: "And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." Through this book Wells and Crain provide us with maps for our journey of understanding the dynamics of race in the U.S. Our paths, their work illustrates time and again, are left up to us.』
『This study of a school choice plan in St. Louis, Missouri-which allowed black students to attend suburban schools-reveals the ugliness and beauty of American race relations. It describes the resistance of suburban white educators, the fears that kept many black parents from taking advantage of school choice, and the courage of black students who crossed the color line, helped by those white educators who saw choice as an opportunity to improve education and create real integration.』
