"Language Is a Place of Struggle" is the first truly multiracial and polycultural quote book, collecting quotations from both historical and contemporary novelists and poets, activists and political leaders, and artists and musicians.
With more than fifteen hundred quotations, this exceptional book covers a broad spectrum: from the role of spirituality to words inciting social change and justice; from the impact of colonization, slavery, and racism to writing on gender, sexuality, and identity. The quotes show how people of color in the United States have been shaped by various community histories, ongoing political and cultural struggles, and personal evolutions.
An invaluable tool for speechwriters, educators, ministers, and librarians, accessibly organized for all readers, this entertaining and thought-provoking book is a much-needed resource for anyone interested in multicultural issues.
IPhone 3G used's review (Excellent Pics!!) 『A very nice book. Lots of color pictures of what appears to be original uniforms. In fact, some of the uniforms were faded and/or torn a bit, so they must have been the real thing. A good buy!!』
(Excelent photographs of real uniforms) 『Amazing pictures of all wafen SS camo uniforms from many angles. Very useful information source for uniform collectors and military modellers.』
(Not an Essential Resource, But Nice) 『Waffen-SS Uniforms In Color Photographs: Europa Militaria Series #6 (Europa Militaria)
This book is essentially a dramatic display of a large, single collection of original SS Camo uniforms. Models/reenactors are posed in various situations to show off the items being discribed in the text. Both the text and the photos are good. There are even a few unusual items displayed.
The book's only weakness is the limitations of the collection it displays. This book is not a comprehensive catalog of Waffen SS uniforms or camo.
Can you see about as much or maybe even more in an illustrated reenacting supply catalog? Probably; but it wouldn't be all original material in good-quality color close-up photos.
If you want to check your reproduction items against the real thing but don't have access to originals, here's a way to do it. Just be prepared for the possibility of not finding everything, or exactly what you're looking for.
Bottom line: if money is tight and you are looking for an extensive reference book on Waffen SS field unifoms and equipment, this is not it. If you want to do some comparisons or just want to see a good selection of original items being worn in realistic settings, then this is it.』
(Excellent Painting guide) 『I paint mostly WW2 28mm miniatures many of which are SS. The SS were an elite branch of the axis army. Many wore dotted camo patterns and this book has many close-up pics of the patterns so one can recreate them. Very nice addition to my collection. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the uniforms of WW2.』
(Excellent Pictoral) 『I needed to fill my library with a high quality comprehensive look at the Waffen SS uniforms- preferably in color, and boy did I get it. This book may not be the thickest but it is outstandingly high quality packed with sharp, full color pictures, showing in detail the uniforms using reenactors with correct weaponry in plausible scenarios. It is truly an awsome catch if you are interested in the Waffen SS's variety of uniforms or even for the cool reenactments of their lives.』 『
An exciting series that features the soldier, both modern and historical. Each volume captures the men, their uniforms, their equipment and their weapons. Rare Waffen-SS uniforms, insignia, combat equipment, and weapons from several private collections.

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (a book really for adults aimed at children) 『Parade of Colors has great photos of Cirque du Soleil shows, but the tie in attempt of this book for younger readers who don't know the show doesn't quite work. Since it is teaching about colors I think the intended audience will be those almost completely unfamiliar with the show. However the photos are filled with colors and the text does rhyme (although the cadence isn't always perfect). And at the end of the book we get to learn which shows all the photos are associated it. Maybe you will even recognize some of the characters yourself. 』
(A little disappointing ;-l) 『This is a good book overall. It is a little thin however without much content. It's pictures galore and color galore, but I thought there might have been a little background here, when all it really is, is rhyming poems for each picture. The costumes and make-up are out of this world and unique and worth the purchase alone. Some of the 'characters' are familiar looking, but if they aren't, there is nothing to tell you which show they stared in until you get to the back of the book where there are the photo credits. This is a beautiful book for fans of Cirque du Soleil (and who couldn't be when their shows are so spectacular). Even if you aren't a big fan, the costumes are so great, you'll enjoy looking at the characters. Apart from it's lack of great detail, this is still a book everyone will enjoy.』 『The first children's book to feature the exciting Cirque du Soleil(r)!
Now, for the first time, the enchanting characters from Cirque du Soleil, the world-famous circus troupe known for its innovative blending of circus acts and street performance, are featured in a book for children! Through dazzling photographs from all eight shows and imaginative verse, young readers are introduced to every color of the rainbow-and some that even the rainbow would envy.
Meet the Baron, the Nostalgic Old Birds, the Angels, the Water Nymphs, the Bronx, the Urban Worms, and more. This spirited introduction to color will inspire the imagination and transport fans of all ages to the magical world of Cirque du Soleil. This is one circus parade everyone will want to join!』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (I always trust Edgar Cayce) 『I recently had my aura photo-captured with equipment that Edgar Cayce briefly mentions in his book. The psychic photographer had a copy of this book. Briefly scanning it, I knew I needed to purchase it in order to have a better understanding of my auras. It was the last writing of Edgar Cayce before he passed away. It's a brief, quick read, but very insightful. I wish it had been more in-depth which is the reason for not giving it 5 stars.』
(Auras/Colors/Analysis) 『I really hate to say it, because it has Edgar Cayce's name on it, but I was disappointed. This little 20 page book is more of a pamphlet and it doesn't say very much. I bought it because Mr. Cayce was thought to be one of the most respected and accurate psychics and aura interpreters, and I have no doubt that he was, so the only book written by him, so to speak, wow! But the book just don't cut it, Hon. I am guessing that somebody thought putting the notes out there was a good idea. Honestly, if I were the publisher, I think Mr. Cayce's little bit of material would have been better served by putting it inside a larger publication that would maybe enhance their meaning. Possibly, a co-author could have talked about Mr. Cayce's life, and clients, and more on colors.
Anyway, this booklet gives some intro comments from Mr. Cayce, explaining some of what he sees, such as a streak of lemony green shoot through one's aura, horizontally, just over his/her head when they tell a lie or are evasive. He also gives a few predictions, such as "imagine what it will mean, everyone able to see when you plan to tell them a lie. . ." He gives general info in the first 10 pages, then he begins discussing colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet through page 14. Page 15 through 19 give analyses of some clients (anonomously). Page 20 is a chart of 7 colors, the corresponding musical note, the ruling planet, and the positive and negative interpretation (interpretation vs. affliction). (e.g. Green, note "Fa", planet Saturn, healing and helpful, vs deceit when mixed with yellow.
The book is put out by the Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE). If you want a very short book that was written from Mr. Cayce's notes himself, by all means buy it. It's certainly inexpensive enough to add to your insight book library. But if you're looking for more information, especially the "how to," then save your money. Check out Ted Andrew's books on aura and color interpretation and also "Color Medicine: The Secrets of Color/Vibrational Healing" by Charles Klotsche on the 49th Vibrational Technique.
For the skeptics, yes, I HAVE seen auras and I have seen colors, both with my eyes closed and open. But I do not see colors in auras easily or often. It is easier for me to see and sense colors in plain air. I've also found that although they are usually similar in meaning, the color that means one thing to me may mean something else to you. So, as with anything else, you need to search through your inner guidance.』
(Auras: An Essay on the Meaning of Colors by Edgar Cayce) 『Book arrived promptly and in excellent condition.』
(a good starter book) 『for those beginning to see the colors of the aura this book is helpful, but lacking in some ways. it's actually resembles a phamplet more than a book, but it is worth the price.
cayce gives the reader a guide to what each aura color suggests about a person's personality based on his own personal observations. if you trust the word of edgar cayce, then this is a good book for reference as it is more consistant than some of the other books on auras out there. however, it is a very general guide. cayce leaves a good bit of room for personal interpretation which can be both advantageous and frustrating. 』
(Colors Clash) 『If you've never read anything about auras, this one would be okay as a primer. However, there was really nothing new or profound - sorry to say.
My feeling throughout was that the author was trying to make a fast buck by using the Cayce name. Not worth the 3 or 4 bucks!』 『In this work, completed shortly before his death, Edgar Cayce presents numerous personal anecdotes relating his experiences with reading auras, and how his skill at interpreting them improved throughout his life.』

Also, caveat emptor, this volume is produced by Farrow&Ball, purveyors of spectacularly expensive paints, and is basically a marketing device for their products.
For a paint geek like myself it is a pleasure, though.』
(Looking at Color with Old Eyes) 『I had wanted this book for some time prior to buying it. It is thick, substanital and nicely made. If you love paint, the photographs are lovely. That said, had I had access to this book in a library I would not have bought it. Despite it's size it is a quick read. The most valuable part is the information on various types of paints. This is not a book for someone needing basic color information and inspiration. This is a nice addition to a substantial color library especially for those who love F&B paint.』
(Classicly Stylish) 『I found this book to be a beautiful testimony to the rich and historical colors represented by the Farrow and Ball company.』
(A must on your bookshelves.) 『I thought, Oh another book on color ! But this one completely surprised me. A classic and timeless lay-out of beautiful photographs and truly educating text tailored this book into a must have for anyone interested in decoration. Obviously the authors know what they're talking about and they mastered their book in a way only the british can do. I bought that book for all my best friends as a Xmas present and my gift to you is an advice: buy it too !』 『
Paint and Color in Decorationcelebrates the work of some of the greatest names in interior design, from Robert Adam to David Hicks, and reveals the techniques and materials they pioneered. It is a fascinating history of 400 years of paint, color, and decorative style from Farrow&Ball, the world's leading manufacturer of traditional and modern fine paints.
This volume explores the process of making fine paints and the varying effects produced by different formulations, finishes, and painting methods. Through a wealth of illustrations and in-depth analysis, the book demonstrates what we all instinctively know: color is an essential element in interior design and decoration. The colors have names almost as rich as the history of the houses they adorn, with Passage Yellow, Feasting Green, and Cook's Blue among a panoply of hues whose origins and adaptations for the home are described here in detail.
A source of inspiration for professional and amateur decorators and interior designers alike,Paint and Color in Decorationcontains a wealth of ideas and practical information at a time when historic paints have never been more in fashion.

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Ms. Roberts Speaks About What People Do Not Want to Hear) 『I read Ms. Roberts book and believe that she is on target to the destruction of the Black family. The number of African American children in foster care is not a new theory. In fact, Black children have been in the foster care system since slavery. Slavery in itself was a form of foster care. The continued systematic destruction of the black family is caused by poverty, poor education and MISeducation, as well as, a host of factors created by the racism and classification of "minority" for black people. It is very easy to place fault on poor parents but the system pays more money to pull families apart than to help form the bonds of the bloodline.
In the state of Missouri, for example, black children make up only 14% of the total population of children in the state. Nonetheless, 44% of all children in the foster care system are black. A highly disproportionate number. One state, but multiply that by all states and the math speaks for itself.
I highly recommend this book.』
(Politically Biased) 『While this book purports to be an unbiased account of the foster care system and its impact on African-American children, it fails miserably. The author is biased against the system from the very beginning, and presents only stories that back her view of the system. There are definitely issues with the foster care system including: overworked case managers, lack of funds, inability to assist children in an appropriate fashion 100% of the time. Certainly there is a racial issue since the majority of children in foster care and up for adoption are minorities, but is this because of the foster care system itself or are we missing a major piece in the puzzle? It is this missing piece that is missing from Ms. Roberts' book.』 『
Shattered Bonds is a stirring account of a worsening American social crisis--the disproportionate representation of black children in the U.S. foster care system and its effects on black communities and the country as a whole. Tying the origins and impact of this disparity to racial injustice, Dorothy Roberts contends that child-welfare policy reflects a political choice to address startling rates of black child poverty by punishing parents instead of tackling poverty's societal roots. Using conversations with mothers battling the Chicago child-welfare system for custody of their children, along with national data, Roberts levels a powerful indictment of racial disparities in foster care and tells a moving story of the women and children who earn our respect in their fight to keep their families intact.

Includes a really interesting time line and the history of genetics and genetic procedures. Does not go into a lot of detail, but simply gives definitions, procedures and concepts in a easy to follow way. If your regular genetics text is too much, try this book to supplement the text. Jammed full of information in a straight forward manner that is easy to understand, full of diagrams, and photos. I love this little book! I would never have gotten through my course without it! Also suitable for someone, not a student, just someone wanting to understand a bit more about genetics.』
(Helpful resource) 『This book is a very good desk reference of genetic terminology. There are useful illustrations and references after each section, and wonderful "quick reference" tables in the back of the book.』
(great genetics review book) 『The book is a concise, up to date review of medical genetics. Those of us that love to see a picture along with an explanation will enjoy this book. Certainly, you won't get everything from it ... I personally used it for review. There are several more extensive books out there for your reading and learning pleasure, like Thompson&Thompson.
