(Helpful study tool)
『My professor had recommended this text, though did not require it for her histo class. I found it extremely helpful in studying for lab exams outside of class, but it wasn't very helpful in learning about cell types that we hadn't discussed in lecture first. An overall helpful study tool.』

(Great Atlas)
『I'm a med student and found this atlas to be a great source for studying for the my class exams. The pictures are great and it makes the facts easier to learn. Squamous cell epithelium never looked so good. I also used the following:
Histology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers by Patrick Leonardi
This study guide helped me with test preparation because it showed me what to focus on and the type of questions that were asked on my tests. I highly recommend both books.』

(This is an excellent atlas.)
『I found the color atlas to be extremely helpful. The images are very clear and structures are labeled. It's a useful guide for medical students new to histology.』

(It is a the name says just an atlas)
『You need to know from other sources to understand the pictures.
Quality of the paper and pictures are good but unfortunately there is hardly any explanation what they are, what the functions are. It is not just because they run out of space, one side of the page is generally empty. I guess it is the concept that needs to be changed. Yes pictures are worth tousands of words but it would be much nices with some talk.Book is divided into systems. Book is also missing a short introduction that could have been very helpful.』

(Best Atlas Available)
『I've done a lot of searching into histo atlases. This one has the best photographs of all I saw. They are untouched by artwork like other atlases. They are the real thing, which I think is important for future practice with the microscope. There are two problems with this atlas. First, although the photographs are organized quite logically, there is no boldface title above each one. It is annoying when you are browsing the book. I remedied this by writing in my own titles, but it would be SO much nicer. The second thing is there is no histological information contained with the photos. There are only small description boxes next to each. Unfortunately to my knowledge there is no such thing as a histology atlas that has high-yield histo information included. I think if the company who made this atlas adds high-yield info the resulting book would be used by every medical student in the country. What's ironic is there is so much white space in this atlas. It's as if the publisher intended to add in info boxes, but never got around to it. All we need are small bites of info like exists in the High-Yield series with the beautiful photos in this atlas.

If you are the publishers of this book, heed my advice and you'll make a fortune. Medical students like to have everything wrapped up in neat little packages instead of cross-references several sources. It makes studying so much easier.』
『This unique atlas includes over 475 full color photomicrographs while providing students with a readily accessible source of morphologic information for use in the identification of tissues and organs. Each photomicrograph is accompanied by explanatory captions that guide students to the key morphologic features that identify the function of the structures. The self-assessment section at the end of the book serves as a review tool for those structures that students traditionally have difficulty in identifying.』

『Although largely ignored by historians of both baseball in general and the Negro leagues in particular, Latinos have been a significant presence in organized baseball from the beginning. In this benchmark study on Latinos and professional baseball from the 1880s to the present, Adrian Burgos tells a compelling story of the men who negotiated the color line at every turn--passing as "Spanish" in the major leagues or seeking respect and acceptance in the Negro leagues.
Burgos draws on archival materials from the U.S., Cuba, and Puerto Rico, as well as Spanish- and English-language publications and interviews with Negro league and major league players. He demonstrates how the manipulation of racial distinctions that allowed management to recruit and sign Latino players provided a template for Brooklyn Dodgers' general manager Branch Rickey when he initiated the dismantling of the color line by signing Jackie Robinson in 1947. Burgos's extensive examination of Latino participation before and after Robinson's debut documents the ways in which inclusion did not signify equality and shows how notions of racialized difference have persisted for darker-skinned Latinos like Orestes ("Minnie") Miñoso, Roberto Clemente, and Sammy Sosa.

(Tarot with a Contemporary Spin)
『For the price this Tarot set has much to speak for it. The cards are a contemporized, yet faithful rendering of the Rider Waite Smith Deck. The focus on the people in each scene draws one in, the card backs are attractive. The cards are large and a good size to color. Had I had it do over again, however, I would have scanned the cards and colored them on my computer with Corel Painter X or Photoshop. I am not very good with traditional art media and colored pencils are rather unforgiving. The pencils that come with the set really won't cut it, you should as other reviewers suggest, get a set of quality colored pencils and then have at it. Great fun. At this price, one could easily afford to buy a second deck and replace the cards ones messed up if you're really into it. In the end that may be what I end up doing.』

(Nice)
『Nice color your own tarot deck. I really liked more the famine images and some of the major arcana. Some of the images especially with males very a bit too modern looking for me.』

(A Wonderful Tarot Deck)
『I didn't expect much when I bought this but it turned out to be a very pleasent suprise. I've read and studied the Tarot for more than 20 years and have more than 50 decks in my collection but I had never colored a deck before. This is a really excellent deck that stays firmly in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition. The artwork is a bit simplified from the Smith drawings but I suppose that is to make it easier to color. The deck comes with a short book and six colored pencils. You will want to go and buy a quality set of pencils before you go to work on the deck. I ended up using over 70 different colors on mine. I believe I learned more about the Tarot while coloring these cards than in the past 20 years of studying books and doing readings. There is something very intimate and wonderful about bringing the cards to life by coloring them yourself. Don't let the simple looking line drawings fool you. The cards truly do come alive when they are colored. The artwork becomes amazing when thoughtfully colored in. Don't rush them and carefully consider your color schemes. Use the book for color guidance. I also found it helpful to look at some of my other decks in the Waite-Smith tradition for help with choosing colors. This is not perhaps, the best deck for persons who have never studied the Tarot before but if you are already familiar with the cards, especially those in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition, this spectacular deck is sure to give you a lifetime of enjoyment. I can't say enough good things about it. I truly love it.』

(Pretty good, not for beginners)
『I was a little disappointed in this deck, because the pictures are fairly simplistic, with much less symbolic detail than the Rider-Waite deck, and the book is short and not too detailed. I wouldn't recommend it to someone new to Tarot--get the Rider-Waite and learn from it. However, for those who are knowledgable about Tarot already, it's wonderful to be able to create your own deck, with colors you find symbolic. Buy a box of colored pencils (it comes with six, but you'll need more) and enjoy!』

(10 stars -- In the B.O.T.A. tradition, this is your cheapest ticket in -- go for it! :-))
『How much are they asking me to pay? Let me tell you, it isn't enough for what you will get.

You get 78 full sized cards with a beautiful shiny glossy back and a black and white matte front ready to be colored (6 coloured pencils included).

The card stock is a bit flimsy but if you want to use the deck in readings where you will be *shuffling* it's best to "treat" it with a lamination type process after you have coloured it.

You also get a guide to help colour and understand the symbolism of the cards. Don't let this little kit fool you; it's a gem.

I'm stocking up on these and I suggest you do the same because an item like this is likely to go out of print unless there is enough demand for it and even then...

Because it isn't published by the big Tarot publishers (U.S. Games (there was a weird reference related to this company), Llewellyn, and Lo Scarabeo) it's hard to say if they would even want to put out a 2nd printing or give the rights over to someone else who will. And ultimately with a publishing name like "Roadside Amusements" this may be just the perfect travel kit that they had in mind.

(I'm a fan)
『I've read other Brandilyn Collins books, but this one stands out as my favorite. Known for suspense, Collins takes a detour in this novel, exposing the emotions of two women in a tug-of-war of love and conflict. Family ties are not always neatly woven in real life, and Collins unravels the past and the present stories of a mom and a daughter who love fiercely, but struggle to let go of childhood hurts.

(Just OK)
『This book is an easy read, but the main character's personality surprised me. The author is obviously Christian, as the theme is recurrent throughout the book. The protagonist constantly comes back to the fact that she must repair her faith, but she is so selfish it's hard to get past it. I found the suspense factor was good, keeping me riveted to the end. I just had to find out what the end result was - a nice surprise at the end when it all came together. I had a really hard time with the characteristics of someone being portrayed as being so selfish and narrow-minded. Just my own opinion.』

(Chalky Images)
『Brandilyn Collins explores broken hearts, betrayal and bitterness through the emotional screen of hunger for parental love and affirmation. A tale of consuming grief that seems to have no remedy, Celia tests God's limits to repair gaping wounds down through generations of mothers/daughters and fathers/sons. A gripping read.』

(Good read)
『Good book, but it doesn't have a lot of action or suspense. I like a book I can't put down. This deals a lot with peoples emotions, which is also good.』

(I can see why this book is an award winner!)
『Color the Sidewalk For Me is about a woman, Celia, who returns home after a 17 year absence to nurse her father back to health after having a stroke. She struggles through her tumultous relationship with her mother and unresolved feelings for the love of her life, Danny.

This book was so good that I had a hard time putting it down. The way the author wrote the romance and the love between Celia and Danny made me ache and root for this couple. This couple clearly loved each other very much.

I liked how Collins used the past/present sections of the book. Some authors lump the past in with the present in a chapter, and it becomes confusing to read. But the way this author wrote about the past was excellent, giving us a good foundation of the problems between Celia and her mother, and what went wrong between Danny and Celia.

I loved how Collins brought in the characters from Book 1 of the Bradleyville series. Jessie and Lee had gotten married, Mrs. B was portrayed as a nosy busybody, and she continued the "feud" between Jake and Thomas. That feud added humor into a book with so many serious overtones.

The character development was wonderful. The characters weren't goody-goody characters like in some Christian books, but are real people with flaws, hurts, etc. From this book, I had a good idea of why Estelle was so coldhearted at times and why Celia led such a lonely existence.

And the Christian theme came out really good, about turning your eyes towards Jesus and not letting the past destroy you. There was also the theme of forgiveness and reconciliation.

I can't wait until I read the next book in the Bradleyville series. I know that the focus of the book will be on another group of characters, but I am hoping to find that Celia and Danny have worked things out and gotten married.』

(Dissapointed by Amazon)
『I had initially pre-ordered this item on 1/1/2006 (yes, 2006). It's now over a year and Amazon shows it does not have any at all. Did it ever? Several requests to customer service yielded continually extended deadlines.

What became of the book? I know I had seen it elsewhere since I placed my order.』

(Concur with Alan)
『I ordered this sometime before Christmas (of '06) as well and still have not received it. I just spoke with someone at Amazon customer service and the book is "hard to get a hold of." If that's the case, the item should be listed as being on back-order. Instead, the only warning you get is the estimated ship time of 1-3 months. Don't bother ordering unless you too want to be placed on a 6+ month wait list.

Again, just as Alan said, the book could be wonderful, but until we get it, we'll never know.

update: Amazon has finally given up trying to deliver this book. It hasn't been in print in a while and they can't seem to find any more copies, so they canceled my order and emailed me rather a generic apology. And they've changed the status to unavailable. They should have done that 6 months ago.』

(Don't waste your time)
『It appears Amazon will never actually have this book. I have had it on order for my wife since December (should have been a Christmas gift) and still nothing. When the waiting period expires this time I will let it automatically cancel. It may be a fantastic book, but right now it's existence seems to be a myth.』
『What's inside? Let's start with what's outside: a metallic gold embossed cover with french flaps, featuring the Goddess sisters on the front, and Belldandy and her angel Holy Bell on the interior. Then the contents kick off with a wacky intro to the Oh My Goddess! saga, in the form of an eight-page "fan" manga by Neon Genesis Evangelion Angel designer Yoshitou Asari! Then, OMG! Colors's namesake: four classic Oh My Goddess! stories, each focusing on a different goddess, and colorized under Kosuke Fujishima's supervision. Finally, an exhaustive "Encyclopedia" section cross-references the people, places, and things of the first thirty volumes of OMG!, including the differences between the two English versions, and many in-jokes about the series never before revealed!』

『For those you are political junkies and for those who aren't this is a great read. There are some really good stories in this book as well as some really good and thoughtful insights. I bought this as a gift for someone struggling with the issues of color and liberalism. It makes a great converstional book as well. I own this book as well. Strongly recommended.』

(Good Read)
『This is overall, a good read. The book gave me a different perspective of J.C. Watts and resulted in more respect for the former Congressman. My only complaint is the numerous football analogies: too many. It became overkill after a while and I was annoyed by his constant references to the game. Other than that, I enjoyed reading the book.』

(Another example of dishonest conservatism)
『Watts, football player turned politician, indicates his obsession with racism and politics by trying to defend political conservatives as non-racist even when it's obvious that these were the same lunatics in both parties that allowed the racism wackiness to spiral out of control in the south back in the 1960s and still does today nationwide albeit more subtely. The only reason rural voters in his area ever kept the guy in office was because he was a corporate conservative who enjoyed the art of bait and switching voters on culture hot button issues such as guns and abortion all the while keeping the economic mess as silent as possible. Sorry Mr. Watts, but good conservatives would never have sucked up to your cultural bait and switch tricks if it weren't for political in-correctness. You know you're just a neoconservative radical and not a honest conservative and you're not fooling most African Americans anyway.』

(One of the best general frog books available.)
『This book (hardcover) has a beautiful lay out, well written text (nice letter type !) and especially the stunning photography!
This together makes it in my view one of the best (general) frog books on the market today.
Please do note the word "general", the information is targeted at anyone with an interest in frogs in general, a broad audience.
Which should work fine in this case.

(Great for Understanding and for Teachers)
『I teach 6th grade and have this in my science reading corner. My students enjoy the book, and it is written close to their grade level; however the book is enjoyble to me as an adult and nature lover as well. It begins by a thoughrough introduction to frogs and amphibians. The book then delves into frog classification. The photos and diagrams are plentiful with many phottos of rare and unusual frogs.』

(Frogs and more beautiful frogs)
『If you are into frogs like me, you'll enjoy this book very much. Excellent pictures, great narrative and a wealth of information about these incredible creatures. Too bad, humans are destroying their habitats in the jungles. The other book about frogs with a lot more pictures is "Frogs" by David Badger. This is also a winner!』
With richly colorful photos and compelling, informative descriptions, John and Deborah Behler have carefully crafted a wonderful tribute to the amazingly complex frog. With decades of expertise in conservation, the Behlers are unequaled in their ability to capture the wild and ever-changing world of these amphibians—all 5,000 species. They reveal an unexpected diversity of form, lifestyle, and ecology, and take readers on a magical journey that makes vibrantly clear why these creatures are so important. Breathtaking and brilliant images show tadpoles in water and on leaves; a many-hued variety of frogs (bright blue, golden yellow and black, red and turquoise) in their environment; African sand frogs and chirping frogs; Oriental fire-bellied frogs; and tiny three-toed toadlets—among the smallest that exist. It’s a vision not to be missed.
