(Great addition to your Spanish library)
『This is nice book that actually shows grammar structure (adjectives follow the noun in Spanish) as well as simple words like colors and shapes. Many books cover colors, but few cover shapes, so this is a nice one to pass around in my Spanish classes, along with this author's other titles. I enjoy that they are slick pages, brightly colored and sturdy.

There's no phonetic spelling, though, so if you're not sure about pronunciation, you may need to begin with another curriculum that has a CD or a pronunciation guide. As a supplement, this is great!

(Another winner in Spanish!)
『I have purchased several Spanish books on Amazon and as always make many of my purchases based on the reviews of those who have gone before me. My daughter is trying to teach my granddaughter how to speak Spanish and she loved this book. Of course she loved sucking on the corners too but it was colorful, well planned out and joyful.』

(Colors and Shapes)
『The Colors and Shapes book is a very useful tool for learning the basics of Spanish. If you want something that is easy to read and understand, this is your book. From reading this book, I think anyone would be able to learn the basic colors and shapes in both English and Spanish. My favorite part was the last page which was a picture of a colorful room full of shapes. This was a good exercise to wrap up the book and apply the words that I learned. A child would be able to use this book, and others like it in the series, to learn and then apply knowledge in every day life when seeing colors and shapes of any kind. This book doesn't just stick to simple shapes such as circle and square, but also includes words for diamond, sphere, and cone.』

(Color and Shapes?Los Colores Y Las Figuras)
『I want to continue learning the Spanish language and found that this children's book helped me and my family alot. I was intimidated by the language, and by starting at this basic level, it opened a new door for me to want to build upon and continue to learn more. By getting down the fundamentals, I am able to go on to more things. My kids are constantly speaking the words out loud and are actually teaching each other and myself Spanish. I am glad that there are books out there like this that I can use, no matter how young the age group, and actually learn.』

(Great foundations book)
『I recently became interested in toddler and primary age children's books because I am a grandmother. Looking for starter books, it was great to discover this title, and the companion English-Spanish Foundations co-volumes. My grandkids enjoyed the color and layout and definitely learned!』
『Introduces children to the concepts of color and shape with charming illustrations.

The last page depicts a busy classroom scene and encourages readers to identify the shapes and colors they've just learned. 20 pages, 4.75 x 5.875

Familiarice a sus hijos con los conceptos del color y las figuras a través de encantadoras ilustraciones.

(Color is Everything)
『I loved this excellent, readable book! It is very helpful for all levels of painters, and those of us who aspire to be artists. I think it is also applicable to other aspects of everyday life, such as home decorating and wardrobe coordination. I learned so much about how and why colors either work together or don't, and how to attain color harmony. It's well-organized and beautifully illustrated. And, appropriately, the color reproduction is amazing!』

(Color Is Everything)
『As an amateur artist and a gift-giver to artists, I find Bartges' book to be the answer to great dilemmas: color questions of my own and a way to look very savvy to my artist-friends! This book is to painting what "new math" was decades ago to students who never understood math -- and we can be grateful to artist-author Dan Bartges for its seeming so easy. "Color Is Everything" makes anyone with the least bit of an inkling to put color to canvas want to grab paints, palettes and brushes and head for the hills (or any other destination that is one's inspiration)!』

(Now I understand color)
『As an art lover and fledgling artist I often knew that the colors in a painting were exactly right -- or terribly wrong. This wonderful book begins by taking you to the art supply store so that you can get the simple but essential tools which start you on your way. By use of the "color wheel" it guides you in mixing colors to get exactly what you want. Then, with examples of the author's art and classical museum works, it uses the color wheel to explain why the colors are just right -- and sometimes, how to make them better.

Whether you're just beginning to dabble in painting or you've been at it for years, this book, along with the color wheel, will enhance you efforts and make painting more fun.』

『For beginners to advanced artists who have been struggling with color, this remarkable new book explains and illustrates how to truly master the use of color. Written in cooperation with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Color Wheel Company,Color Is Everythingis a must-read for any painter, art teacher or craft enthusiast who wants to capture color harmony in every painting, regardless of style or medium. It is written in a concise yet conversational manner and very easy to follow.

Author/artist Dan Bartges sums it up best: This book is designed with one purpose in mind: to show painters exactly how to master color. As a result, you will gain greater confidence, you will paint better pictures, and you will have a lot more fun painting.

The unusually high-quality book features more than 100 full-color illustrations, photographs and paintings by the author. Further, it clearly explains what great artists know about color that most painters don t and demonstrates with master works by famous artists such as Degas, Picasso, de Kooning, Sisley, Goya, Sargent and others.』

(art books children love)
『Great book. My granddaughters (age 10, 7, and 4) love it. I've bought the entire series.』
『When Monique, a young visiting nurse, steps into the home of an elderly patient, she finds herself in rooms filled with the most vivid color she has ever seen. Her patient is the artist Henri Matisse, and as Matisse recovers from his illness, he and Monique become good friends. Later, Monique enters a convent where she becomes a nursing nun—and by happy coincidence, she meets Matisse once again. Her religious order is so poor that they don’t have a chapel of their own, but Matisse decides that with Monique’s help, he can remedy that situation. He develops a sketch drawn by Monique into a brilliant set of stained-glass chapel windows, and then uses his influence to raise enough money for the chapel’s construction. This true account of Matisse and the chapel at Vence, in southern France, is the main focus of Laurence Anholt’s newest delightful children’s story. Anholt’s illustrations faithfully reproduce many of Matisse’s wonderful artworks in this beautiful storybook.』

(This book is rather out-of-date.)
『I bought a copy of this when it was a new book (1987). Make no mistake about it, this is an 80's makeup style book. The approaches to eye makeup look rather garish today (though some would still apply to nightclubbing). Some of the advice about skin care is woefully out of date. Worth looking at if you're interested in determining what colors you look best in (clothing and makeup). The advice about makeup brushes is helpful to the novice. Take the rest with a grain of salt.』

(Right On - Seasonal Color Does the Trick)
『I had a seasonal color analysis done in 1979, when Carole Jackson came out with her first book, "Color Me Beautiful". I have found that this system works best of all to find the colors that flatter me most (I am between Winter and Summer, a "cool" person). This book helped me to select my best colors in makeup and also explains why.

I recommend it highly for anyone just trying to get together the best colors!

(Forget it!)
『If you know your season and your best colors (from any other Color Me beautiful book) then forget this one. You're much better off buying Bobbi Brown's or Aucoin's book, both of which will offer you much better make-up tips and ideas.

The book is badly presented with boring pictures and graphics and an uninspiring layout that does nothing to attract your eye. When you go through Brown's or Aucoin's books, you find yourself itching to put some make on, with this one, you'll close the book and wonder what's on TV.』

(Looking beautiful with only a little make-up)
『Over the years, this book has been my best help to age gracefully and to feel my best. I am now 57 years old, and I feel fresh and alive, with both an inner glow and an outer one. Having learned through the Color system how to find clothes that flattered my natural coloring, I can easily highlight with make-up. Whether we are going fly-fishing or getting dressed for a fancy party, I need only a small kit to make me feel my best.

Thank you, Carole Jackson, for helping us to be the special women we already are.』

Fully illustrated with vivid color-true palettes and full-color photos showing right and wrong looks for each season, this is the best make-up investment you'll ever make.』

(hmm....)
『This book is going to take some studying for me to really "get it". Fabrics from eras before 1900 all tend to look similar to me because of the different dyes that were used then, compared to later. The prints look the same to me. I was hoping to get more of a sense of each distinct era but while studying this book could give me that, it seems to be more of a resource for looking up fabrics one finds on old quilts. And it couldn't possibly be complete enough for that. I haven't spent a lot of time with the book yet but this is my impression at this point. Nothing else like it for sale though!』

(A Must Have Book for Antique Quilt Collectors)
『When paging through this colorful book, Dating Fabrics: A Color Guide 1800-1960, imagine my tremendous joy when I found THE yellow flowered fabric featured in my most prized quilt, dating it between 1830-1860!

This very well researched and comprehensive collection introduces each time period from "Pre-1830 'A New Nation' with a thorough introduction of the era and the history of quilts and fabrics. Following are 1-inch x 1-inch photo swatches of the fabrics arranged by print style and colors.

A wonderful reference book for those who make, collect or simply appreciate this art form.』

『Excellent. It's a keeper and is now on my reference shelf. It was hard reading but the best book by far with the pictures and text for dating my fabrics. It really helped in dating my quilts.』
『Are you a fabric collector, quilt collector, appraiser, or antiques collector who needs to know specifics about fabrics or quilts? Then this book is for you! It will help you identify, date, and recognize antique fabrics and their uses in quilts and clothing. Over 1,000 color fabric swatches are listed in this handy, easy-to-use reference guide. You'll be able to identify fabric dating from the pre-1830 era through the Second World War. Match your antique fabric by selecting a suspected time period and comparing colors and prints. REVIEW: There are many books out with beautiful color prints of quilts from various eras but until now we couldn't examine an extensive collection of fabrics. Dating Fabrics: A Color Guide 1800-1960 offers this opportunity by organizing hundreds of fabric swatches by period. Learn how to choose and use colors creatively to achieve rich and radiant effects in watercolor

Beginning watercolor artists can find it challenging to keep their artwork vibrant while creating a sense of color unity in their paintings. Often beginners over-mix their paints and/or choose colors strictly based on those they see in life, resulting in lackluster paintings devoid of radiance and life. In this delightful, 64-page guide, accomplished artist Joseph Stoddard shows artists how to improve upon reality to create rich, dynamic, and emotionally charged watercolor paintings. Joseph touches on all aspects of creating expressive watercolor paintings with a focus on color usage, from selecting color schemes and pairing pigments to suggesting a variety of moods. Unlike other how-to-paint books on the market, this guide encourages artists to interpret subjects in their own artistic voice, teaching how to communicate with color through stunning illustrations and clear step-by-step demonstrations.

(Looking for better guidelines for use of color)
『Overwhelmed with color combos, but not effective guidelines for combining.』

(Made for Japanese artists?)
『The primary target audience for this books seems to have been Japanese, with Westerners as an afterthought.

The books does contain hundreds of color combinations, but throughout the book the 61 colors used to form different combinations are identified according to the Dai Nippon Inc Color (DIC) System.

The book also contains swatches in 61 colors, which you can cut out with scissors, and which are on the back also identified according to DIC system.

At the end of the book there is a conversion chart, where you can find what color in DIC system correspondes to what color in CMYK, but it is way less convenient that using color combination books like Color Harmony Workbook by Lisa Sawahata, which I have found to be infinitely better and much more practical and user-friendly for Westerners.

(Hard to use)
『This book has some decent information, but using the colors in the book is made ridiculously difficult by the color chart at the end of the book. First, if a value is a zero, they put nothing at all. This makes it difficult for your eye to trace the line of numbers for your color. Second, though the colors are given in CMYK, they are given in the order YMCK. This means to enter the color into Photoshop or another image program, you have to start with the third number, read back to the first, then jump to the last. It's not brain surgery, but much more difficult than it should be.』

(Resource for Color Combinations)
『This book is a great tool for finding color combinations. It contains small samples of 2, 3, and 4-color combinations. At the bottom of each combination page is a tip for using colors together. My only quibble is that the samples are VERY small, probably because the footprint of the book is also small.

Recommended for getting ideas on color.』

(Family Feud)
『Maggie's family is going through a very rough time. Her parents have separated and on the verge of getting a divorce. Their bitterness spreads to Maggie who wants her parents to get back together and realize that they can work things out. But this won't happen because Maggie blames her mom for her dad leaving. Feeling as though her family has failed her, she turns to her aunt with whom she can share her true feelings with. However when the truth about her parents' split comes out and a tragedy strikes the family, Maggie has to learn whether she really wants this bitterness to take control of her life.

Once again, Melody Carlson focuses on another subject that is touchy among the Christian church. Divorce is not something a lot of people like to talk about. Therefore teens who are in families that have divorce often have no one to talk to and go through their suffering alone. Maggie's pain is understandable. No one wants to see their family split up. You don't want to see the two people who are supposed to promote family unity just give up and walk out on you. It makes sense that Maggie is bitter and cynical towards her parents. I just didn't like though how she didn't have all the facts and kept lashing out at her mother and blaming her for the split. She didn't give her a chance to explain and kept siding with her dad. So when the truth finally comes out, it hurts Maggie more than anything. I'm glad the ending of the novel doesn't end happily. Many Christian novels have everyone making up with the family getting back together and hugs all around. Unfortunately that is not always realistic. Maggie's faith keeps her strong throughout this whole ordeal. There is a subplot which involves teen drinking and the ill effects of it. With both parents involved with their own affairs, there's no one for Maggie to turn to so she gives into peer pressure and then pays for the consequences. This is an excellent book for teens who have experienced divorce. Highly recommended teen reading.』

(Divorce Court!)
『Oh no, this is huge!!! Maggie comes home to find that her parents are getting a divorce. Maggie is so confused as to how her Christian parents split up. She stays at her best friend's house and tries to figure things out. Maggie suspects that it's her mom's fault that her parent's got a divorce, because her mom is always yelling. Maggie's dad gets a cool new apartment, but finds out that her dad has a secret that he won't tell Maggie. She tries to talk to her best friend Claire, but she doesn't understand and she can't tell the rest her family because they don't believe in "divorces." She gets a job at her Aunt Louise's restaurant to get her mind off things, and she becomes really close to her Aunt. She also thinks that her mom and dad might get back together, but when a family member dies it puts a hole in Maggie's heart. Maggie hopes and prays that her mom and dad will get back together so that she can move on with her life.
The thing I love most about Maggie is that even when her parents split up, she always turned to God for help and she stayed strong. I was really surprised when she went to work at her Aunt's restaurant. That's what I would also do to get my mind off things. The one thing that I liked least about Maggie is that she blamed somebody for something that she didn't even know was true. Like when she blamed the divorce on her mom and later her dad, I didn't really think that was fair. I also didn't like when Ned, a boy she liked, took her to go snow sledding with his friend and Maggie had a ton to drink. I was very unhappy with her. All in all, this book really was good.

Like when she blamed the divorce on her mom and later her dad, I didn't really think that was fair. I also didn't like when Ned, a boy she liked, took her to go snow sledding with his friend and Maggie had a ton to drink. I was very unhappy with her. All in all, this book really was good.

(Outstanding book, wonderfully done...)
『This is a great book, by Melody Carson, about a girl who is a senior in high school, Maggie, whose parents are suddenly getting a divorce. I think this is the only book that I have read, that truly captures the impact of divorce on the kids in the family. Maggie is torn between her father who she loves, and her mother who she never got along with. When she learns the real reason of the divorce, she is shocked, hurt, and stunned that this could happen to her family, but she also is trying to piece the family she once knew, back together with what little information she has. This is a real life lesson in this book, and that is EVERY family has problems. Every family out there has something wrong, and the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. This was a novel that wasn't exciting to read, but had some truths in it, and that made it worthwhile to read.』

(Bitter Rose)
『Bitter Rose by Melody Carlson is about a girl whose parents are splitting up. The girl is named Maggie. Maggie is trying to get her parents back together. Maggie finds out that the reason her mom kicked her dad out was because he was cheating on her. In the end, Maggie realized to stay out of it even though her parents don't get back together.
When I read this book, I thought it was going to be boring. After I got farther in the book, it got more interesting. The lesson I learned was to stay out of other people's business. People who like the other color books in this series would like this one. I would love to read more books by Melody Carlson. All of her books try to teach all of us a lesson.

『Maggie's parents are divorcing and she blames her mom. With the help of her friend Claire, Maggie is on a mission to save her family--at least what's left of it.』

(A Wonderful Find)
『I didn't know where to start to help my son prepare for kindergarten. Then, I found this workbook in the JumpStart series. I like that it has 3 levels that you can advance through and my son didn't feel as if he was doing "work". He also liked the stickers that came with the book - a nice way to reward the work he did.』
『Eleanor the elephant is wearing red today and she can't wait to take her friends to Color World. They're going to make rainbow-colored balloon animals, win prizes, and try out the pies together. Mmmm! Blueberry! Then it's off to Shapeland to play in square sandboxes and fly diamond-shaped kites. Which one's the biggest? So make sure your children are wearing their favorite colors and are ready for JumpStart learning fun!』
『Preschoolers will enjoy learning basic colors, shapes, and sizes in this 32-page workbook featuring the animal characters fromJumpStart, a leading software program for young children. Eleanor the elephant and her three friends are featured in a variety of full-color worksheets, with simple activities such as tracing shapes or drawing lines between objects of the same color. An adult will need to read the directions for each activity and explain the "Tips from Eleanor," additional minilessons in the upper corner of many pages. This workbook also has several coloring activities, so a set of markers or crayons is needed. The book comes with a sheet of reward stickers and a certificate for finishing all the pages.
