(Great book for the budding scientist!)
『We got this book for our daughter's 5th birthday and she is in love with it! She carries it everwhere and she can now easily identify areas of the eye, the inner ear, as well as many other body parts. We are beginning to see how she is able to apply the knowledge she's acquired from this book.

I can see how this book will grow with her over time as she is able to read at a higher level and she will be able to understand some of the more complex text. For now, she enjoys looking at the illustrations and describing all of the body's functions to anyone who will listen!

This is a great book. If your child enjoys The Magic School Bus then I'm sure he or she will enjoy Human Anatomy in Full Color』

(This book combines two previous books in one (plus some))
『This book combines Neal French's "Potter's Directory of Shape and Form" along with Constant&Ogden's "Potter's Palette", along with some pages of additional decoration photos. By this I mean that the exact pages of those other books are what this book consists of. Thus, it is a better buy than either of those other books.

Both of them are useful resources. To get an idea of what this book contains, look at the reviews for those books. The result is a very handy&informative book, but I can imagine a book which is even more comprehensive, which is why I'm giving only 4 stars.

p.s. By the way, I spent a few moments paging through this book looking for any mention of Constant&Ogden, the authors of the Potter's Palette, but I couldn't find any (if it is there, it is obscure). How is it that they can publish this book under Neal French's name without any evident mention of the authors who produced half the book? I wonder what book the additional decoration pages came from?』

『The possibilities are endless for today’s ceramist! Pottery can be fashioned in a variety of textures, colors, and forms. This comprehensive reference is a roadmap for the limitless shapes and forms, colors, and decorations of pottery; it is a starting point for personal exploration.

Over 600 shapes and forms are extensively illustrated with indicative silhouettes and inspirational photographs. This practical reference presents a multitude of great glaze recipes and how to create them. More than 700 individual glazes are vividly displayed with complete instructions. Plus, readers will learn about ceramic decoration, such as agateware and sgraffito.

(excellent)
『This atlas has real cadaver photos for all areas of the body. The fact that the pictures are real will help when studying for a practical exam in anatomy. The only negative aspect is there are around 50 pins per page which could be annoying when searching for a part you want to find.』

(Excellent resource for Bioengineers)
『The Color Atlas of Anatomy was recommended to me as a reference for designing implantables and surgical instruments.

As a non-anatomist, I found the illustrations and cadaveric photographs to accurately reflect my cadaveric surgical trials in the wet-lab.

I often referred to this atlas while designing an Achilles Tendon repair instrument and other orthopedic surgical instruments.

(Into the Fire)
『There are not very many books of this type of presentation to begin with so I must be careful here as to how I may sway your opinion of high priced books. Color Atlas of Anatomy has been a staggering companion to my study of Human Anatomy. After careful study of Grey's Anatomy for Students along with Clinically Oriented Anatomy I don't believe I was ready for what was presented in the fifth edition of Color Atlas of Anatomy. Astounding revelation. I don't know there may be a few of you that have actual access to Anatomy Laboratories but I must say everything is in the right place as far as what I was told in the books mentioned above but this book is something else as far as what you see is what you get. Color photographs make short work of any pedantic ravings of the layman's terminology. I never did get to go to any medical school in North America but I'm sure that any student there would agree there is no trick photography here.

There are 1158 figures with 1035 in Color and CTs and MRIs as well. All in 8 chapters and over 400 pages. This is not a book to leave out for the hackers to scoff and judge so keep it under your bed or better still in your locker at your Medical School.

Most of the Medial Schools that I want into have this required or recommended as a text and unless you can say something's changed in the last hundred days since 2007 all is as it should be.

(A must for anatomy)
『I consider this book to be a must for any anatomy student. The pictures are exactly what you will see when you enter the lab.』

(love this book)
『In case it isn't clear from the description or title, this is an anatomy atlas made up of photos of actual human bodies. I don't know why we didn't have this in A&P. Fascinating, and a nicely produced book as well.』
The on-going core of this atlas is its standard of realistic illustrations that portray anatomical relationships. Photographs of actual cadaver dissections along with numerous schematic drawings aid the student in anatomic orientation. Chapters are organized by region, in order of a typical dissection. Each chapter contains two sections: a description and illustration of organs, and a depiction of those organs within the regional anatomy. New to this edition is an increase of MRI pictures, approximately 30 schematic drawings made even more precise, and an updated text where appropriate. A Brandon-Hill recommended title.

(Highly recommended.)
『Color of Violence: The Incite! Anthology is a collection of politically charged writings by a diverse variety of authors (all or nearly all of whom are female) concerning violence against women of color, endemic in numerous settings - from domestic violence to institutionalized or even militarized rape committed against women of color crossing the US-Mexico border, legal and illegal immigrant women of color, and women of color in the prison-industrial complex. Other feminist and person of color concerns addressed range from the tendency of state systems to take black children away from their mothers more readily than white children in the same living situations; the profound negative impact that war has upon the lives of women and the culture they live in; discrimination and dehumanization amid domestic violence shelters; and much more. Though some of Color of Violence may lean toward the radical side of social engineering - such as the exhortation "prisons don't work", which ignores the simple fact that a rapist or murderer removed from society cannot continue his violence against society at large while he remains isolated from it - the majority of the essays are biting, candid, and honest in their assessment of very real inadequacies on personal, familial, and governmental levels to promote a safe world for women, as well as how the white, middle-class feminist perspective can actually be deleterious to the needs of women of color. Highly recommended.』

What would it take to end violence against women of color? How does the mainstream antiviolence movement help? How does it hinder? When will we admit that repositioning women of color at the center of the movement-women more often harmed by the police, prisons, and border patrols than aided by them-means that we must address state violence?

In Color of Violence, INCITE! demands that we
reconsider a reliance on the criminal justice system for solving women's struggles with domestic violence;
acknowledge how militarism subjects women to extreme levels of violence perpetrated from within, and without, their communities;
recognize how the medical establishment inflicts violence-such as involuntary sterilization and inadequate health care-on women of color;
devise new strategies for cross-cultural dialogue, theorizing, and alliance building;
and much, much more.

INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence was born in 2000, when more than two thousand dedicated activists from diverse communities came together to end the war being waged on women of color in the US and around the world. Now the largest multiracial, grassroots, feminist organization in the United States, INCITE! boasts chapters in more than 20 cities.Color of Violence: The INCITE! Anthologypresents the fierce and vital writing of 32 of these visionaries, who not only shift the focus from domestic violence and sexual assault, but also map innovative strategies of movement building and resistance used by women of color around the world. At a time of heightened state surveillance and repression of people of color,Color of Violence: The INCITE! Anthologyis an essential intervention.

("Eating By Color For Maximum Health" is an especially recommended addition)
『Enhanced with beautiful, full-color, photographic images of finished dishes, "Eating By Color For Maximum Health" is a compendium of easy-to-follow, step-by-step recipes for a cornucopia of great eating that are as healthy as they are delicious. From Roasted Tuna with Olives, Grapes&Pine Nuts; Grilled Fish Tacos with Green Cabbage Salad; Turkey Sandwiches with Sweet Onions; and Spanish Tortilla with Golden Potatoes; to Baked Stew of Curried Root Vegetables; Lamb Kebabs with Blood Orange Salad; Strawberries in Red Wine; and Oatmeal&Dried Peach Muffins, "Eating By Color For Maximum Health" have dishes that range from the simple to the complex, any of which are suitable for every dining occasion from daily family meals to special event celebratory dining. Simply stated, "Eating By Color For Maximum Health" is an especially recommended addition to personal, professional, and community library cookbook collections.』

(beauiful and unusual)
『Many of these recipies contain really hard to find ingredients. However, a lot of them can be substituted. Aside from that, the book is pretty fun. There's lots of uncommon flavor combinations that I definately would not have tried without inspiration. The reason I decided to buy this book is for the "fresh ideas." They are quick and easy side dishes and desserts that i go to frequently when trying to use up produce. The photography in this book makes it fun to flip through.』

(Yum)
『I love this book. The recipes are largely simple and very affordable. It really opened me up to new foods I had never heard of, while bringing back the comfort foods, too.

A few ingredients will take some work to locate (e.g., quinoa). I can usually find them, but I live in a city with both a Wild Oats, a Whole Foods, and a very large local famer's market. If you garden, you can plant and grow most every weird vegetable in this book (e.g., blue potatoes, purple bell peppers), but you'll have to get the seeds or started plants on-line through Burpee or someone.』

『Leave it to Williams-Sonoma to serve up such a simply beautiful way to eat well. This innovative new volume takes an entirely fresh approach to healthy eating, with nature's own colors at the heart of the plan. The premise is as easy as paint-by-numbers: by selecting one ingredient from each of six color food groups every day, you'll be well on your way to getting all the fresh produce you need for maximum health. Plus you'll receive the added benefit of powerful antioxidants and health-enhancing phytochemicals. You may be wondering, what exactly are phytochemicals? In many cases, they are the pigments that give plant foods their gorgeous hues, and, more importantly, phytochemicals are part of the plants' immune systems. So by eating a fruit or vegetable from each of these color groups every day, you're giving yourself the full spectrum of phytochemical health benefits. Yes, you heard it here first: a color a day keeps the doctor away.

In a very tasty way, of course. Each naturally delicious recipe starts with a colorful, fresh ingredient--purple bell peppers, green spinach, red strawberries, or orange squash, for example--and offers meal suggestions that pair them with fish, lean meat, or fowl. Infuse your meals with choices from Williams-Sonoma's fresh produce rainbow and you're on your way to better, healthier living through color.

Features:

  • 150 delicious recipes featuring fresh, healthy ingredients
  • More than 200 gorgeous color photos
  • 6 chapters, one for each color of the fresh produce rainbow plus brown for grains and legumes
  • 75 "Fresh Ideas"--simple, quick 1-paragraph recipes-at-a-glance for preparing fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes』

『My pre-K son really likes this book. He loves to read the text that are in color (i.e. "red" is colored red). The book is also perfect for my almost-2-year-old daughter, who is just learning her colors. The primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) are taught and how they are mixed to become the secondary colors (orange, green, and purple). The pictures and story are amusing to both.』

This book is a great introduction to color mixing as the dog dips himself into pots of paint. (Colour Awareness)
『Easy to read. well presented. Lots of detail. The test gets you thinking and if you answer it honestly it will lead you to your predominate colour.』

    (The best)
『This book is very dead on with auras and ones personality. It has a chapter for each color and not just a page like in most books. In the chapter it goes into ones approach to physical reality, mental attitudes, Emotional makeup, social style, compatibility with other colors, physical (evironmental) colors, physical (body) colors, mental colors, emotional/spiritual colors, personal power and leadership style, financial choices, and career options. The questioner is kinda long for finding ones aura colors out (98 questions). But its well worth it!!!』

(My all time favorite book on aura readings, by far.)
『This is really a tremendous book. Took the topic of auras and reading them to better understand people and dialing up a positive exchange out of the flakey ill defined world and brought it into the realm of concrete, deeper understanding.

This book is a must read for anyone seeking to master helpful psychic tests to better understand themselves and compatibility with others. The only book of its kind that not only defines various colors of auras, but details them out by section as to what each one means.

In the back, the personality test is really terrific. What I've enjoyed doing with this book over the years is starting with my own color assessment (based on impulse and what I see), noting it secretly, then going through the test with someone - usually they match

    A great, easy read.

Bowers will be missed, as so much of this book lays the groundwork for modern personality tests of this type.』

    (Creates Misunderstanding)
『I had a very strong reaction to this book because I see auras, have had mentors who see auras and more, and have read a lot of existing literature on the subject. And I can definitely say that not only are the colors of an individual's aura tremendously exaggerated in importance, there is NOT one core color that remains the same for an individual during all of life!

The aura is made of many colors that shift and flow, but it is also made of specific layers, and shades of light and dark, and other structures that join it...this complex energetic structure is over-simplified by this book.

Furthermore, pigeonholing people by a question-test longer but not more sophisticated than those found in teen magazines is just not acceptable. People do not have a core 'personality band' with a set color.

Please read other books and become well informed - read Barbara Brennan, Hands of Light; read Warren Grossman, To Be Healed By The Earth; read Mark Rich, Energetic Anatomy; read Donna Eden, Energy Medicine. All of these books are written by seers who resisted the temptation to create a pat, easily marketable 'which type am I' system, instead respecting the wondrous complexity and astounding variety that emerges when you view the human aura, as varied and unique as humans themselves.』

(Maps The 14 Auric Colors and Personality Patterns)
『Dr. Barbara Bowers was a lady who had an amazing gift of discerning the slightest difference between hues and colors. She also could see auras. In her book "What Color Is Your Aura?", she catalogues humanity into that correlates with their aura color: 14 distinct personality patterns: red, orange, magenta, yellow, physical tan, mental tan, green, nurturing tan, loving tan, blue, violet, lavender, crystal and indigo. Her book also contains an in-depth questionnaire to determine your predominant personality type and aura.

Bowers explains each of the 14 colors and how each approaches physical reality, their mental attitudes, emotional makeup, social style, compatibility with the other 13 colors, personal power and leadership style, financial choices, career options, and spirituality. It's an informative manual on 14 distinct personality patterns that can aid in career searches, understanding mate compatibility, relationships, finding life purpose, and so on.

In many ways, this book was a precursor to the ANSIR® personality system. (Bowers and Seich were planning on collaborating before Bowers' untimely death.) What Color Is Your Aura? is a fascinating trip into auras, energy, and personality patternsand--aiding you in seeing yourself and others with fresh, and more compassionate, eyes.』

    Revised Edition.

The role that color plays in our lives is far more powerful than most of us may imagine. Color influences all aspects of who we are, both internally and externally. In the human energy system, color serves as a vital communication link that reflects what is happening within all four layersof energy: spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical. Carol Ritberger, Ph.D., has matched  colors that represent the four personality types and teaches you how to find out what color you and your friends are!

In this beautiful, fun gift book, you will discover how:

—Colors and personality characteristics go together

—Red personality types are sensing, thinking in their functioning; their orientation is through external stimuli

Orange personality types are sensing, feeling in their functioning; their orientation is through fulfilling the emotional needs of others.

Yellow personality types are intuitive, thinking in their functioning; their core mental function is right-left brain, and they are good problem solvers.

—Green personality types are intuitive, feeling in their functioning; their orientation to the world is toward people and the need for relationships

This is your last stop before dipping into color science textbooks or hiring a consultant to get the job done for you.

You probably want to have an overview of what color management is and why you need it before you buy this book. Once you know you need to know more about color management and you know you need to know how to get the job done exceptionally well, this is the book that will guide you through the process step-by-step with hands-on tutorials.

Andrew possesses an exceptional ability to present a complex subject in well-paced clear language. The back cover promises "less `why' and more `how to'". This is the pragmatists guide to color management. Step-by-step, how-to examples make the information highly practical.

Better graphics than almost any other book of it's kind make this information more compelling, more pleasurable to engage, and easier to adjust. In many cases Andrew tells a story about visual perception visually first with excellent illustrations, which are then supported by commentary. It's an excellent approach.

On the accompanying CD, the test files alone are worth the price of the book.

Despite excellent diction and graphics, you might find the level and breadth of this book daunting. Take it a piece at a time. Given your particular needs, there may be whole sections of this book that you may not need to read. Once you've identified the areas you need to know more about, read those sections. And, put them to use. Your images will be the better for it.

    (Good resource for color management.)
『This is a great book on color management. Color management is a oft-misunderstood subject and it is fair to say that there are good reasons for this - mainly that it is complicated.

Andrew Rodney does not simplify the subject, thus the reason I did not give this four stars. However, if you are serious about the subject, this book is a vital tool in trying to understand color management.

Some of the book is tedious and some of it is hard to understand, but there are large parts of the book which offer valuable and understandable information on color management and your quest to achieve this "holy grail."

My suggestion is that if you are casually trying to understand how to calibrate your monitor, this book may not be for you. If you are seriously trying to understand color management and are building a library of useful references and gleaning useful nuggets of information from several different books in your quest to achieve color management nirvana - then this book should be in your library.』

    (Meh... Next.)
『Nobody can deny that Mr. Rodney knows how color management works in Photoshop better than most people, but unfortunately, knowledge of a subject doesn't make you a good writer. I find the bulk of Mr. Rodney's ramblings (both those published on his website-that-time-forgot and posted to various discussion groups and mailing lists) to teeter on the verge of complete unreadability most of the time, and while my hopes were high that a good editor might tame his curious linguistic proclivities here, they were quickly dashed upon skimming through the text. What's worse, the illustrations and photos in every single copy of this book I've ever seen have suffered from severe magenta color casts, leading one to wonder why the author and his publishing company failed to practice what they preached in bringing this title to the public. If you didn't know who Andrew Rodney was to begin with, you'd likely think him full of beans based on the appearance of the plates in this volume. After all, why should readers believe consistent, predictable color in print to be a realistically attainable goal when even the guy who wrote the book on the subject can't seem to achieve it?

There's certainly some good information in between these covers, but none of it is groundbreaking in any way. You might learn something interesting about WWII by asking your grandfather to tell you some old war stories, but you'll have to suffer through a lot of pointless rambling to get to it, and that's pretty much what reading this book feels like. About the only thing this book really has going for it that its competitors lack is the nostalgia longtime Photoshop users will likely feel at the sight of the dog image gracing the cover. Since you can see that image right here for free, there's not a lot of point in paying for yet another rehashing of this subject matter, even at amazon's substantially discounted price. I have no doubt that Mr. Rodney is a very technically proficient color management consultant who can deliver $10,000 worth of results to all who can afford his services, but his efforts in the creative fields of writing, illustration and design just ain't worth a plugged nickel.

It may also be worth noting that more than one of the glowing 5-star reviews that have been posted here were planted by friends and associates of Mr. Rodney. How's that for class?』
