Babajis Kriya Hatha Yoga and Publications
Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (The Meeting of the Paths of East and West) 『 This easy to read book with great illustrations outlines a blessed path of yoga, in an appropriate sequence for the exercise of the physical body and the interaction of the spiritual bodies and the chakras. It is a divine movement for the release of LIGHT!!! After practicing daily, I feel a joy that helps me bear the stress of daily life and my personal burdens. We also know that Babaji is a true master and not a false teacher so we can be confident that these asanas were given for our benefit and spiritual enlightenment. This is a jewel of a book but you must put it into action.』
(A basic guide to hatha yoga....) 『This book serves as an introduction to hatha yoga. This work is highly recommended to those who are interested in hatha yoga. When one follows ALL the instructions in this booklet with faith and reverence, one would progress very far spiritually as well as physically. However, for those who are already well versed in hatha yoga, there is nothing new to learn in this book.
This booklet describes the benefits for each of the poses and the counter-benefits for those not physically perfect in health. Thus, one must follow the instructions carefully and with discrimination.
I would also like to recommend the book The Art and Science of Raja Yoga: Fourteen Steps to Higher Awareness: Based on the Teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda" by Swami Kriyananda (J. Donald Walters) for those who are interested in going deeper into yoga and the philosophy behind the poses.』
(Standard Hatha Yoga Exercises with Movement) 『This small book contains 18 yoga postures which are illustrated and described together with the benefits and contraditions of each. The main difference between these hatha yoga exercises and those available in other yoga books - is not in postures, but rather in the way that they are intended to be performed. While a standard yoga book may suggest that you hold a posture for a specific period of time, here the recommendation is to move within each specific posture (in a way it's like a rocking motion) - as the term "kriya" relates to "action".』
(Beginners Guide) 『This is a very basic introduction to 18 yoga postures, good for someone new to hatha yoga. For an intermediate or advanced practitioner, there is nothing new here.』
(Extremely detailed and a good resource.) 『This booklet has step-by-step instructions with diagrams of each step. Included are the specific benefits of each posture as well as who should avoid them due to individual health conditions. It is a great reference source but not practical to use as a walk-thru yoga session, as, frankly, it's hard to do yoga while holding and reading a book. It is well worth the money as a reference source.』 『This guide is designed as a hand book, wherein each stage in each posture is individually illustrated, and explained with easy to follow instructions. The numerous benefits of each posture in the healing and prevention of various disorders are also indicated. Rejuvenate yourself.』

IPhone 3G used's review (Excellent introduction to hatha yoga) 『I was studying raja joga when I picked up this book many years ago. The author provides an unpretentious look at his own experience with learning hatha yoga. After reading the book I began to practice the hatha yoga asanas given at the book's end. I found the instructions and illustrations easy to understand. Following the author's suggestion I started with the beginning asanas, taking my time, and gradually worked up to the advanced exercises. I probably spent about 30 minutes or so every morning, which was a great way to start the day.
I and about ten others used the book as a guide in our own "free university" hatha yoga class in which we participated for two years. I have loaned and lost three copies of this book to friends and acquaintances, which is why I am ordering two copies this time.
I recommend this book for anyone wishing to learn more about hatha yoga from a layman's perspective.』

(Useful for adults) 『I liked this better than most "adult" books on Yoga. Definitely work a look for adults new to Yoga as well as girls.』
(An easy-to-use springboard to get started in this physically and mentally fulfilling practice.) 『"The Girls' Yoga Book: Stretch Your Body, Open Your Mind,&Have Fun!" by Michaela Caldwell introduces the reader to using yoga to revitalize one's body, mind, and mood. Chapters discuss how to create a yoga space, enact basic poses, control one's breathing, improve balance and more. Simple and colorful illustrations make The Girls' Yoga Book an easy-to-use springboard to get started in this physically and mentally fulfilling practice.』
(Perfect for girls ... and their moms!) 『I LOVE this book! The language is spot-on for girls--there's no "dumbing down" here, yet the core teachings of yoga aren't glossed over either. The package is tons of fun, with amazing, colourful illustrations of real girls and easy-to-follow instructions for each yoga pose. I highly recommend it--especially for girls who might want to begin a yoga practice but aren't sure they want to take a class with a "bunch of women."
If you're a mom with a preteen / teenage daughter, it's a great way to learn about yoga together.』

IPhone 3G used's review (Description a little misleading) 『I was really excited when I read the review/description about this book because I thought it was going to give detailed information about what asanas are good for particular seasons of the year. The book turned out to be a 12 month guide to learn poses and history about yoga - very useful information, but not exactly what I was looking for. The description of how to get into the poses was very detailed, but as someone who already knows how to do the poses, I found some of the pictures confusing or just incorrect. I would recommend this book for a beginner who wants to slowly immerse themselves in the history of yoga and gradually learn new poses. However, if you are looking for a book that really relates each pose to the corresponding season and gives the benefits of doing certain poses during certain times of the year (as I was) then this book is not for you.』 『With THE YOGA YEAR, your yoga routine can be different every day of the year. Immerse yourself in thoughts of grounding and warming in winter as you focus on an image of a mountain and of grasses bending in the wind. Or imagine yourself a jug pouring out in autumn with asanas focusing on inverted poses and contemplation of the concepts of fullness and emptying. And at the close of the year let quiet, stillness, peace, and oneness envelop you as you envision a calm lake with a full moon reflecting on the waters and practice the sitting lotus and savasana relaxation.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Great program) 『I like this more than her beginners because its just challenging enough to be fun. I also like her overall format of getting centered first before (chanting OM- hence the name) and after the practice. The only thing (which is totally dependent on my mood) is that she's a little too "instructive"- sometimes I like to flow more through poses without so much detail. Although it says 'intermediate' it's more for intermediate beginners. So if you aren't brand new to yoga, this is a good practice to put on your iPod or MP3 and do at the beach or park.』
(OM-MAZING!) 『Not a replacement for an instructed yoga class -- but an amazing session when you can't get to the class. So glad I got this!』
(Best out there) 『I've been practicing yoga for about 10 years now and definitely think that this is the best product on the market for at home practice. I like Cindy Lee's instruction and think that the CD/ flash card format is the closest to actually being in a yoga class. If you've been practicing for a long time, this makes a nice gentle practice before bed, but if you're just beginning yoga make sure that you supplement this with some actual class instruction. Some of the postures are a little advanced, including headstand and full bridge and I would not recommend trying them unless you're already familiar with proper allignment-you could hurt your back or neck! Overall, I think this is a great product and recommend it to anyone who is already familiar with yoga!』
(Didn't like this one as much as the beginners) 『Be warned! This workout is much more difficult than the beginners, and I felt was really an advanced yoga workout more than an intermediate one. Plus, the sequences are so long, that you can't really shuffle and recreate your own workouts the way you can with the beginner version of Yoga in a Box. I was really looking forward to owning this since I felt I had mastered the beginners version, but this version was pretty much a disappointment to me.』
(Great for Quick Home Practice) 『I've taken classes at the Om Yoga Studio here in New York as well as at several other Yoga studios... I bought this set as part of an attempt to begin a daily yoga practice at home in addition to twice weekly classes. I find the instructional CD to be too slow-moving/easy for me, but using the flash cards and music CD, I can create a short daily practice that works for me. I wouldn't recommend using Om Yoga in a Box or ANY yoga cd/book/video as a substitute for real, live yoga instruction, however. So much of the alignment and correct breathing and meditation is better learned with feedback from an instructor. This works well as a supplement, however.』 『This exciting boxed presentation is designed to offer all you need to progress from beginner to experienced yogi. It contains two instructional CDs with a booklet, a set of flashcards describing each posture in greater detail, a yoga belt to help with deeper stretches, a candle and sandalwood incense with a holder. The sessions are created and taught by Cyndi Lee, the director of the OM Yoga Center in New York City.』
