(It works)
『The divine drops, are true "magic" pose as the book suggests! This book is a must for parents of infants, especially if they have colic.』

(I really did not want to like this book)
『Okay, when I picked this book up, I rolled my eyes and thought, "oh brother." As if there aren't enough things for a baby to learn. But I was curious about the activities that the book would provide so I read through it anyway. I admit I was skeptical from the start. I'll tell you that this book is chock FULL of self promotion and I found that incredibly irritating. More than half of this book is just trying to convince the reader how wonderful yoga is, especially itsy bitsy yoga. Fine. I got it. Yoga is good. Itsy Bitsy Yoga is better. I do understand alot of yoga is the mind set (which is a topic beaten like a dead horse in this book), but I'm gonna tell you, I'm a mom of a toddler and a baby, and I just don't have time for the "tranquility" of yoga. I wish I did, but I don't. I have to be a pretty flexible lady. (no pun intended) I just want some activities I could personally do with my 9 month old and my 2 year old. When you get past all the cheerleading in the book, the activities are terrific. They are personal, and simple, and fun to do. And like the book states (over and over) you can spend as much time as you can afford with the "poses." The book itself is easy to follow and have some terrific tips to add along with the poses (like songs and variations, etc) They have plenty of photos, and the book is divided by major milestones instead of ages. At the end of each chapter is a quick reference of what poses work for whatever situation you are in. That is so handy. I really like this book as a reference guide. This book is meant for children from birth to 24 months, so I took a quick glance into the older tot chapters to see what they were like. When my oldest was between 1 and 2 years I don't think she would've copied what I did, nor would she have done any poses with encouragement, so I checked out how you were supposed to interact with the older set. Alot of the poses for the older kids still have parental interaction (which I think she would've liked) so I think this is a pretty realistic guide on what your child can and would want to do (since kids can be so different). There is nothing extreme (yoga-wise) in this book, and if you can't make your home have a nice tranquil atmosphere, alot of the poses can be done in a playful way. So as much as I don't like the writing in the book, I really liked the poses.』

(Make Fun Memories and Promote Active Habits, Develop Cognitive Functioning)
『I bought this book when my daughter was about 8 months old and wish I bought it sooner. It is a fun and playful book that gives parents great ideas for age-appropriate activities for baby. It is perfect for working parents who want to have special, fun activities during their time together or stay at home parents looking for ways to engage their babies. There is always something new to try and everything is geared to your baby's developmental stage. It has also motivated me to become more enthusiastic toward my own yoga practice again. My baby loves these poses.』

(Great book!)
『I purchased this a few weeks ago and have been practising the poses for my daughter everyday since it arrived. My 4 mth old loves doing her daily yoga exercise and I have to say that the Magic poses do really work! If you are thinking of buying a yoga book for your baby - let it be this one . It's easy to follow and has different sets of yoga to do at different times of the day.』

(My baby loves this!)
『I took the local Itsy Bitsy Yoga class and decided I wanted to create a home routine, so I bought this book. It has been very informative and helpful. I do Itsy Bitsy Yoga with my daughter every morning and she loves it!』

(spot on for arthritis and strength building)
『Knowledgeable and complete. all the info you need to begin reaping the benefits of yoga (pain relief, strength, flexibility, increased range of motion). Good, clear pictures that guide your efforts. Detailed instructions for each pose and adaptation. Breaks down difficult poses into graduated options so you can build into traditional poses over time without hurting yourself or creating more problems. I would recommend this book to anyone, no matter how involved your symptoms. If other forms of exercise or strength training have proved unsuccessful because you get injured and worsen your symptoms, this book is for you. You can do the poses without pain and with progress you can feel and see as your range of motion increases and your control improves.』

(Yoga With a Focus)
『I was looking for a yoga class for arthritis and getting nowhere fast when I discovered Yoga for Arthritis: The Complete Guide. The physiology of arthritis is explained in layman's terms, with the most common forms of the disease addressed succinctly. A similar approach is given to yoga in its chapter. If you already know or don't care to know this background information, you can go to the chapter featuring the poses that address the joints you want to free up. (The authors are careful to list contraindications to performing each pose.) As my reactive arthritis is most troublesome in my fingers and wrists, I have bookmarked Chapter 12, "The Wrists and Hands". I do some or all of the 11 poses daily, and find them very beneficial. The written instructions are clearly worded and the illustrations are excellent. I highly recommend this book.』

『This book is wonderful. It shows how to relieve pain or stiffness in your hands, your feet, your upper back, lower back, knees, neck .... with easy to understand illustrations. Forget the text (yes that is clear, written in an easy to understand and DO style) but I have to SEE what they are telling me to do. This book is a Must for anyone who has aches and pains -- or for that matter, for anyone who is thinking of getting some :)It's the best book of this type I have ever seen. In fact, I am going to buy one for my daughter just because it is great for people who need to stretch and bend and who think they are too busy.』
A comprehensive, user-friendly medical yoga program designed for management and prevention of arthritis, with over 400 illustrations.

Arthritis restricts movement; yoga increases range of motion: these two were made for each other. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in this country, limiting everyday activities for more than seven million Americans. Drugs, surgeries, and steroids can alleviate some of the discomforts, but study after study has shown that exercise is most beneficial to most forms of arthritis, specifically low-impact, flexibility-enhancing exercises—hence, yoga. In this comprehensive and thoroughly illustrated guide, Loren Fishman and Ellen Saltonstall, who between them have seven decades of clinical experience, help readers understand arthritis and give a spectrum of exercises for beginners and experts. Broken down into chapters focusing oneach major joint, there are 100 classical yoga poses and numerous imaginative and physiologically sound adapted poses, all with step-by-step instructions and easy-to-follow photo demonstrations. The authors welcome readers into the philosophy and principles of yoga and show how to use yoga to findlasting relief from arthritis. Over 400 illustrations.』

(A must have)
『This is one of my favorite Iyengar books. THe illustrations and descriptions of the poses are very clear and easy to follow. Good for any begginer or more seasoned person.

It also tells you how each Asana benefits asn stimulates different organs- I find this very helpful and I can find even greater motivation to practice.

Highly recommend. A must have in any yoga library.』

(Highly Accessessible Intro To the Iyengar System of Hatha Yoga)
『This book is beautifully designed with full-color pictures
throughout and a lot of insightful commentary indicating the
areas of each pose where the most challenging and rewarding
"work" will be done.

Many yoga postures are beneficial even when performed with
poor alignment. The most important thing is to TRY. I remember
starting out - my alignment and flexibility were poor - but
I improved and refined my Yoga over time.

Iyengar's "Light on Yoga" covers more postures and in more
depth - but it is not a practice manual like this one - meant
to be laid out on the floor while you practice.

If you are a beginner this is excellent. If you are more
than a beginner this will help you learn and refine your
understanding of the Iyengar approach - which is highly
influential for very good reasons.』

(A classic yoga book)
『This book gives you easily digestable information of the Iyengar yoga. Very clear instructions and steps how to work into the posture. I have recommended this book to my students since it gives you a solid support for the home practise.

(Great yoga guidebook)
『I've taken yoga classes for a few years but never remember the poses to repeat at home. This book lists most all the poses I've ever done, with pictures and what body parts they affect.』

(This book was required reading for my Yoga teacher training.)
『I can totally see why my yoga teacher trainer pick out this book to be required reading. It is very well assembled with great picture of well respected Yogi's. The form of the positions leave nothing to be desired. When reading other Yoga books it isn't uncommon for me to wish I could crawl into the page and help the posture of the people in the photos. In this book I just wanted to be as talented and perfect and the people in the pictures. The descriptions of the positions and the subtleties of what the pose requires was well written. It isn't unusual for me to use the same phrasing as they do in the book because some cues can't be better said. Perhaps I'll out grow this book, but as a beginning teacher, I learned a lot from it. I love the amount of detail that the book gives because there is always more that you can accomplish in any Yoga pose, and you must work at the level of the students you're teaching and remind them of things that may be automatic for you.』

(A more inspiring, beautiful, and practical anatomy text does not exist)
『Enough cannot be said of Ray Long and Chris Macivor's outstanding contribution to not only the yoga community, but all students of the body. The art is beautiful and one of a kind, and shows exactly what we need to see in the body from each pose. They have specifically answered what we want to know about what the body is up to with each asana. This is exceptionally refreshing because the specific questions about the body's systems are actually addressed - we don't have to guess and imagine, as we have for so long when studying the typical anatomy book. In two words - comprehensive and amazing. Two more - thank you.』

(The graphics are clear and very easy to learn the entire body!)
『Anatomy is not the easiest subject for me to memorize. Each page was clearly marked and assisted me to learn more than I ever imagined I could.』

(Best instructions for a Yoga practicionar or Yoga teacher)
『The knowledge of this volume is better for Yoga practice than an anatomy book for medical professionals because the focus is on asanas. So the profit for your own practice and supervision is excellent.

『As a Yoga instructor as well as having a background in fitness including time as a certified personal trainer, I appreciate and seek out credible specific information about what I'm teaching. In this case, Yoga involves every aspect of the human body. This book details specific poses and their associated specific muscle groups. (Wow why can't drs recommend this book???)
『I've had knee pain off and on some 20 years. I happened to see this while looking for yoga goodies for my home practice (I just started yoga, whatta difference for the better in a short time!, never stopping now!!!) Thought this book might help with that strange grinding and transient pain I get... OMG! This book makes complete sense as to why most of us have knee pain!!! The poses work on strengthening and stretching everything around the knee (actually the entire rest of the leg!) so the knee gets some relief to do only what it is supposed to do. Knee pain? Stretch those quads and hamstrings and groin muscles! I just went through the majority of the poses right from the beginning, and let me tell you, within the first 3-4 exercises you will realize why your knee hurts by showing you how tight the main working leg muscles are. Why couldn't my original knee doctor figure this out??? Why did he have me struggle with exercises that FOCUSED on the knee, which of course I had to stop since it hurt and never seemed to help?! I am going to incorporate these poses into my home practice ASAP--I can feel the nice stretch I just got in the thighs and hips without feeling like I blew out my knee.

The book has 3 main sections: 1. Factors in common knee problems 2. Practicing yoga for knee care 3. Everyday knees. The first and last sections are pretty short, but to the point. The second section is all the poses you should focus on to help the knees. Poses are meticulously described, good photos (not creepy) of what the pose looks like and even has model using props for support (like many of us will need when we start!) There is also a part for putting the sequences together for active rehabilitation, healthy knee maintenance, and my favorite... I don't have time to practice! sequence.

A very well-thought out book that makes it obvious how to begin helping your knees--thank you Sandy!!! An excellent book!』

(OOPS, that sould have been 5 STARS!!!)
『The yoga postures and exercises in this book are definitely helpful for coming back and strengthening after/during knee problems, relieving pain, and regaining mobility. I have noticed positive results from doing the exercises for a short time. I initially gave it a 4 star rating because I would have liked to have more options/exercises included, but what's included is so valuable that I realize my error -- it's definitely a 5 star! (It won't let me change my rating at this point.) It was a great purchase and I highly recommend it for anyone who is trying to be rehabilitated from knee injuries or who has osteoarthritis of the knee (I have both, and both have been helped). These exercises have helped me much more in a short period of time than those given me to do by the physical therapist did over an extended period of time (for osteoarthritis, and ACL injury and a meniscus injury). Some of the P.T. exercises actually seemed to exacerbate the problem, so I approached the postures in this book very cautiously. However, there has been NO downside, only positive results. Highly recommended!』

(Kneed help?)
『Written by a yoga teacher who fixed her own knee pain with the help of yoga, I found this book very easy to use. Here's a few reasons why I liked it:

-it's not too long (its smaller than I pictured, 95 pages, but that was fine with me
-the idea here is to help your knees out by strengthening what's weak and loosening what's tight
-this is accomplished through yoga poses which you hold for a minute or so
-there are 3 different sequences of poses depending on your needs (nice)
-there's even a short routine for those busy days we all have

Finding a yoga teacher is suggested, but with all the pictures, descriptions, and sheer straightforwardness of the poses, I don't feel like it's a must. In short, this is a good, safe place to start if you have a general knee problem. Also recommend The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution for those who suffer from plantar fasciitis.』

(Great!)
『This book is great! I love it already and I have only had it a week. I injured my knee skiing over a year ago and am still having knee pain, stiffness and instability. Physio was costing lots and achieving less. I highly recommend it. Be prepared for long descriptions! I have only done the excercises three times and my knee already feels substantially better! Thanks Sandy!』

(Very good book)
『After doing a lot of PT for my knee and going nowhere, I decided to buy 3 books about knees. I liked this one very much and also "The knee crisis handbook", which has explanations about several types of knee injury. My only complain is that some asana explanations (Warrior, Triangle) talk about the front knee, and says nothing about the rear knee, which can be misaligned as well if you let your knee drop (which normally happened to me).

By time she was in her early twenties, Sandy Blaine was facing multiple traumatic knee injuries that left her in constant pain. After enduring extensive physical therapy with limited results, Blaine was amazed when a six-month exploration of Iyengar yoga caused her knee pain to disappear completely. Spurred by curiosity and gratitude to find out how this was possible, Blaine made a thorough investigation into recovering from knee pain through the practice of yoga. Her discoveries are revealed inYoga for Healthy Knees. The book features 17 unique yoga poses tuned specifically to knee health and a complete index and covers knee problems such as hyperextension and tightness, features an extensive section on the best yoga poses for knee pain prevention and rehabilitation, and outlines a daily knee maintenance plan. Blaine explains how to incorporate use of simple props like blankets and towels, and shares safety guidelines that encourage readers to establish good habits, making healthy knees a part of everyday life.

(A must for anyone new to hot yoga)
『The style is a bit annoying to read but the explanation of poses along with the (extremely dated) photos is very helpful especially for beginners.

I read the book through once... then realized that it is broken up into 2 parts -- for each pose. The top portion is for advanced students who have a general idea of the poses. The bottom portion is for complete beginners. Although Bikram writes in the book that someone who has never taken a class can follow the book, I would highly disagree with that. I think you need to have gone to a few classes to get a general idea of the flow, then you can read about each poses and tips to get a deeper stretch/proper form.

I wish they would have redone the photos for the updated copy. Now that I have read through it once, I find that I go back to it for reference for some of the poses I find more challenging. I would highly recommend this book.』

(Without pictures pathetic!!!)
『I bought the CDs set for 24 dollars becuase I thought there would be some videos that would help me to make perfect postures but to my surprise the CDs are just Audio. I mean what the heck??? How can one get the idea of what Bikram is blabering???? Total wastage of the money and CD don't even work properly if you try to copy them to your disc. How sad and pathetic...』

(Bikram is a pioneer!)
『This is a great book for Bikram lovers! Nice pictures of all the postures in his beginning series. Also dicusses the right way and the realistic way of doing the poses. "26 postures, 2 breathing exercises, every day!" Bikram created this sequence with his teacher Bishnu Gosh after Bikram blew out a knee in a weightlifting accident. Doing this sequence healed his knee without needing the surgery the doctors where recomending. I love the Bikram quote "you can [...] with the Gods, but you cannot [...] with the knees!" Lots of people experience this truth for themselves when they jump into a yoga practice with a little to much gusto:)』

(Wonderful Addition to any Birkam Yogi)
『After taking Bikram Yoga classes for five months, I bought this book, and my practice will never be the same! Bikram breaks down every pose, through pictures and words, allowing you to truly understand what the body should look like and how it should feel in each pose. Even better, he also shows you through words and pictures how the body shouldn't look, allowing you to know what you are doing wrong. I would recommened this book to any Bikram Yogi, as well as anyone who is interested in a great work out for not only your body, but for your mind as well.』

(100% Satisfaction)
『This is the best exercise/health book I have ever purchased. Well illustrated and written. If you do Bikram Yoga this is a definite book to have.』
『Bikram Choudhury, author of the newly revisedBikram's Beginning Yoga Classand yoga guru to the stars, is on a mission to heal America through yoga. Bikram claims that faithfully doing his yoga routine, which consists of 26 hatha yogaasanas(postures) set down by Patanjali over 4,000 years ago, can fix everything from chronic diseases (like heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis) to obesity and depression. According to Bikram, his beginning yoga class exercises 100 percent of the body, increases energy, and leaves you looking and feeling fantastic.

The book contains nearly 200 photographs illustrating each of the poses. Eachasanais also accompanied by detailed directions on how to do it the right way. Can't quite twist your leg around your head or touch your nose to your knee? Bikram will tell you how to modify poses so one day you, too, can resemble a pretzel.

This is not an easy workout. Even intermediate students will find Bikram's yoga routine, which requires about an hour to complete, challenging. Need encouragement?Beginning Yogacontains suggestions for maintaining proper yoga practice, a section on the medical benefits of yoga, notes from Bikram's students, and a good dose of Bikram humor and philosophy. (Refreshing Approach)
『Stephanie Pappas present a refreshing approach to teaching postural Yoga. Stephanie offers excellent verbal cues that are easy to understand and well thought out. Some of Stephanie's recommendations for adjustments may not be appropriate for all teachers and students but her suggestions certainly have a place in Yoga classes and should be considered by all postural Yoga teachers.

"Yoga Postures, Adjustments and Assisting" is a user-friendly book that covers many postural issues that I encountered during my years of teachings asana classes. It also includes an extensive section of commonly asked questions with intelligent and thoughtful responses that are sure to assist teachers of every level. I believe that postural Yoga teachers and students will find Stephanie's well-written and beautifully photographed book a welcome addition to their library.

(WOW! A Truly Inspiring and Insightful Book!)
『I love this book! Stefani's "Yoga Posture Adjustments and Assisting" presents a unique approach to teaching and practicing yoga. It is well written with clear instructions for successful adjustments and lots of great photographs. The verbal cues and prop suggestions are invaluable and offer a comfortable and compassionate way to approach students of all levels. Using Stefani's adjustments offers an opportunity to connect on a deeper level with students. Most students view the adjustments as a wonderful experience that also helps them to improve their ability to move into a pose. This book should be a part of every yoga teacher's library.』

(Oh, it's a PRACTICE manual)

This book would be wonderful for someone who has been practicing yoga for 10 plus years. Definitely not for the beginner. It's like trying to read a foreign language even though there are definitions in the early chapters. I'm going to try to send it back.

『Beautiful images, wonderful practice, amazing teacher... also check out his brother Doug swenson.. another wondeful Ashtanga teacher!TAMARA'S YOGA FUSION』

(Perfect for the mat)
『I love this book! it has all the positions you can think of, and different ways of doing each one to make them easier or more advanced. I loved how it showed the guy in the book doing yoga poses on cliffs and stuff. It was inspirational (although i won't be doing that anytime soon!) It came in great condition, and quickly.』

(great tool for deepening or beginning a personal yoga practice)
『This book is an excellent way to explore each of the postures of Ashtanga yoga. It has foundational information about the basics such as breath, followed by each posture with variations, and guides for the standing, sitting, and closing sequences. It is a perfect gift for someone beginning a personal yoga practice or for the student looking to move on to second series postures.』

(Useful and practical)
『It's an amazing book which is also very very user-friendly. Besides clear explanations of all the terminology such as "Ashtanga", "Bandhas" and so on, it's equipped with a spiral binding and a hard cover so that you could read/ watch it by practice the movements. In addition, it will teach a series movements instead of separate movements (like some Yoga books do) so that you could have an idea of the whole "flow" of the movements. It's very useful and practical. I would strongly recommend this book to whoever wants to learn this amazing Ashtanga Yoga.』
『This is the most user-friendly yoga book available! It contins the entire Primary and Intermediate series of Ashtanga Yoga with three options for every asana. It is spiral bound to easily remain open while practicing. It contains over 650 photos with clear instructions and commentary. It is a great book for all levels of practitioners to enjoy and teachers will find it to be an invaluable tool for teaching their students.』
