『I've been using Aerobie products since the 1980's, and the Pro ring is widely considered their best. Incidentally, the current world record is even longer than mentioned above: 1,333 feet (set in 2003 by Erin Hemmings).

PROS: Easy to throw, deceptively easy to throw FAR ... much farther than you intend, unless you practice A LOT.

CONS: Unless you control launch angle JUST RIGHT, your friend will be running for days to catch it! Also, far worse than losing a ring in water, it enjoys getting stuck in trees even more. Worst of all is the (likely) event of striking a passer-by 100 feet (or yards!) away; the ring is so slim that it's almost impossible to see if it's heading straight at you!

Find an open field with no trees, take your most athletic friend, ease up on the throwing strength, and you can enjoy Aerobie Pro for hours. Neglect any of these things, and you'll be heading home in minutes.』

『Words from the wise: DO NOT fling a 13" Aerobie as hard as you can on a breezy summer day just to see how far it can go. Bad idea, I lost my first Aerobie that way, a spiffy bright yellow one, and since it landed in acres of tall corn, there was little to no hope of me ever getting it back anytime soon. For the short while I owned it, I fell in love with the astonishing flying ring and it's fabulous performance. I just had to replace it. And I can tell ya, it does go far, sometimes too far! According to the Guinness Book of World Records it holds the longest throw ever at 1,257 feet!

All it really takes is a little flick of the wrist/arm and the Aerobie will go a great distance. It glides smooth at any speed and is less effected by wind than a Frisbee. The ring design also allows for more acrobatic freedom in catches and tosses. You can easily catch it by hand on the outside like a Frisbee or on the inside unlike a Frisbee, plus you can also ring it around your arm or foot as the catch. Its so easy for anyone to enjoy.

Our dog, a pure bred Australian Shepherd gets the biggest thrill out of leaping and catching the Aerobie in mid-flight. Which makes it all the more entertaining and/or frustrating for us. But I can say, thus far, the Aerobie has stood up extremely well to his biting and light chewing, not to mention our twisting and tugging attempts to pry it from his clutches. He loves it so much! I can further attest to the durability of an Aerobie by saying; what was once lost had been found. Only a year and a half later that is, after being run over or perhaps maybe run through various farm implements, and spending a whole winter outdoors in the open. But I found that my first Aerobie is still in decent, flyable condition. Certainly rough around the edges and a bit more brittle, but I was able to bend it back into shape and after a little fine tuning, my yellow Aerobie flies just as good as my newer orange one.

The Aerobie is the best flying disc you'll ever own, it's likely to be the only flying disc you'll ever NEED to own! The one bummer thing about the Aerobie is that it doesn't float. Made in the U.S.A.』

(The best frisbee ever - in warm weather)
『These things fly *far*, and require almost no effort to throw. I regularly play in an area with about 100 feet from person to person, and its no big deal to get it that far. The trick is to not put it farther.

The only down side to this disc is that its fragile when the weather gets cold. I had one disc last me from march to november, and I've been through 4 more since then (its almost christmas as I write this.)

Thinking about trying the 10 inch SuperDisc next, it should prove more durable at the expense of throwing distance...』

- the advanced routine feels like you're doing something, but the beginner one is a joke, so there's ultimately only 1 10-minute routine I can use with this ball. For $40 I would prefer to have a few routines I could alternate- hopefully they'll make a second DVD... (and the beginner/advanced routines repeat many of the exercises so I can't mix and match)
- the guy leading the routine WOULD NOT SHUT UP. It's good to give information for beginners who might not know about back safety and that it's okay to start with fewer reps, but it interferred and drove me nuts: I frequently found myself waiting for him to finish talking so we could begin the exercise』

『Some of the best cards in the world. If you have friends who are constantly spilling beer or soda on your card table, and you're constantly buying replacement cards for those cheap plastic coated cardboard ones, worry no more. If you have friends who constantly look at their cards by pulling up the corners and it eventually "marks" the card by continued use, then fret no more. These are the cards for you. The 100% plastic construction easily wipes clean of all dirt and liquids (assuming you clean them right away, otherwise some mild scrubbing will be involved). Plus, the resiliency of the 100% plastic keeps the shape for a long time and continued abuse (I've had mine for over a year and have a poker game that last about 8 to 10 hours every Friday night and they look as new as the day I've got them with the exception of the paint will only slightly fade if you are playing with people who constantly "warm up" their cards - i.e. rub them very fast face down for good luck). Also, the four color deck is great for beginners and old pros alike (there is no chance for someone to say they missed a flush or a flush draw because every suit has it's own color). Great for home games, I wish casinos would implement these cards, but I don't think they will because they often profit from mistakes that cause the rake to go up.』

『I like these cards, but they do have one major problem. Brand new, they look like they've been through the washing machine. The colors are very faded looking. I really like the fact that they are four color, but in low light levels the faded print creates problems. The faded colors also just give the cards an old look, like they have been played too much and need to be retired.

If you can get over that part, these cards have a really nice feel, they shuffle well, and they slide over the felt perfectly. You can also wash them with soap and water if they get dirty. They hold their shape great, no creased edges or corners after quite a bit of use.

(Notes for new buyers [UPDATED Nov. 08])
『I've been riding a StreetSurfing's Wave for a month, and I'm really having a great time with it. I thought to share my experience in some areas that new buyers may find useful.

Wave vs. Ripstik:
I chose Wave over Ripstik because I heard that it's easier to learn.
The claim was supposedly based on Wave's wider deck plate and shorter caster height. I tried my friend's Ripstik, and my conclusion is that it does not matter which. They are both good and easy to learn.

Having said that, there are noticeable differences in riding feels more than cosmetic. I felt that Ripstik was a bit more responsive, perhaps faster too. But it could be the ground surface or the wheel condition that made me feel that way. I liked the narrower deck plate on Ripstik, as it felt easier to position my feet. But I am very happy with the Wave, and these differences won't make me switch to Ripstik.

Wheel tread wear:
My rear wheel lost its tread about 1/16 to 1/8" after a month. The front wheel lost less than 1/16". I weigh 180lb, and used the board on sidewalks and blacktops for about 30 hours so far (1 hour/day for 30 days). Lately I've been practicing some tricks and rough riding, so it may have contributed to the rear wheel wear more than the front.

New wheels have pointy tread so the initial tread loss could occur in a matter of days. But after the tread flattens a bit, the loss seems to slow down, at least in my case. I don't know how much tread loss would affect the ride, but the way it's going, I don't think that I need to change them soon. I'm actually more concerned about wheel bearings and caster trucks as I may have to re-condition or replace them to keep them nice and smooth.

*** UPDATE - Nov. 10, 2008 ***
I finally changed the wheels after 2 months.
When the wheel loses more than 1/8" in tread, it catches tiny pebbles on the ground so often that it is difficult to maneuver the board. You'll notice this as the wheel (especially the rear) flattens. In my case, when the rear wheel lost 1/8", I switched the front and rear wheels as the front had lost only 1/16" at that time. After a few weeks though, I had to replace them both with new ones.
So according to my usage, the wheels have 60 hours of life cycle (1 hour/day for 60 days).

Exercise value:
My heart rate doesn't go up much even on up hills, so I can't say that it's a great aerobic exercise. I feel that my sense of balance has improved. My lower body (hips, knees, ankles) seem to be a bit more flexible now than before I started caster boarding.

I did have one big discovery. The mechanics of generating power to drive the caster board are similar to the ones to throw punches correctly.
I discovered this when I was struggling to drive the board on the first day. When I recognize the effective body moves, it became easier for me to drive it. I heard somewhere that the origin of caster boards comes from martial arts training tools. Whether it is true or not, I do see a connection between the two.

Ripple and Ripster for kids:
I saw a 6-year-old comfortably riding the Ripster one day. He told me that he started with Ripstik but he had trouble riding it, so he got the smaller board, i.e. Ripster. If a child is below 4 feet and weighs less than 50lb, Wave may be too big, too heavy. I'd consider Ripster or Ripple instead.

Protection gears to learn fast:
I highly recommend wearing a helmet, knee/elbow pads, and gloves/wrist guard when you first try to ride the board. They give you protection of course, but also the sense of security that allows you to overcome your fear. Once you get on the board a few times, you will quickly realize that it is not as hard as you think. Some people who tried my board without protection gears seemed to be too fearful of falling to actually get themselves on board in a proper manner.
Subsequently they gave up quickly, saying it was too hard.

You don't need to be young, fit or coordinated to ride a caster board.

Your usually not suppose to go near very rocky surfaces its probably better to go to a skate park or a very smooth street. Overall this is a very good board, but i would suggest to wear a helmet.』

『I have been running in various models of the Adrenaline for years now. They are a staple amongst all the runners I coach. Their performance level as a consistent, solid training shoe is undeniable. For a stabilizing "trainer" their sole has a great deal of flexibility. I suffer from plantar fascitis and having a flexible sole is extremely important. The double EE width is also a big plus (it means I don't have to doctor my shoes to accommodate some pesky bunions). A great shoe for runners of all ages.』
