I thought that this mat would be okay for me as a starter mat (if there is such a thing), since I'm still experimenting with yoga a little and I do not do yoga regularly. As some idea of usage, I know a few people who keep a spare mat in the trunk in case they forget their mat or have a spur of the moment desire to do Asana (at a park for example). This would work fine for that. Similarly, we are likely to order a few more for our kids and their friends to use when they have a "yoga party" during a play date (our kids are elementary school/toddler). We ordered one to be sent to my parents' house in advance of spending a week there - it was fine for us to have for keeping up our practice during that week. We left it so it will be there on other visits (and with the hope that it would spark my parents to give it a try). (a great mat!) 『I've been practicing yoga for almost a year now. Before this one, I had a cheapo mat that I bought at Wal-mart. It just wasn't sticky enough for me. So, after a little research - I'm not ready to throw down $89 for one of those fancy real rubber mats - I decided on the Hugger Mugger. So far, I like it a lot. It didn't smell bad out of the box, it's light, thick enough to support you (although I do need to use a towel under my knees in some postures), and it's a lot stickier than my last mat. I will say that I do still slide on it, usually towards the end when we're good and warm, but I am waiting to see if that is just because it is new. I've probably used it about a dozen times already and although it hasn't improved much (stickiness-wise), I haven't had a chance to give it a good cleaning with soap and water either. Usually I just throw a towel down under my hands when I start sliding. Bottom line, it feels good - not too hard, not too soft, it looks great, doesn't smell, but my hands do slide a bit in downward dog. I would recommend this mat overall.』

(Good, relaxing yoga DVD) 『There are two workouts on this DVD, each about 35 minutes. It is done in a really relaxing setting. There are three people doing the routine, one showing a modification of the poses, and one showing more advanced versions. The instruction is done as a voice over, and is very soothing. I've been practicing yoga for about 5 years now, and about at an advanced beginner/intermediate level, and I didn't find this DVD overly challenging, but I really enjoy it. I would definately recommend this DVD to beginners and slightly more advanced practicers as well.』

I've been practicing yoga with DVDs and videos for over ten years now. I have found that for the most part many of the instructors out there use the same poses and and just rearrange them slightly and package them up to sell as a whole new workout. One thing I really enjoyed with Hemalayaa's DVDs was this feeling that I was actually getting something completely new. She really brings her own style and a fresh new approach to yoga (well, at least to yoga as it exists in DVD -- I'm sure this approach has been around for centuries).
For example, moving in and out of the poses, as well as holding the poses themselves, is done with a lot more fluidity and creativity with Hemalayaa. Rather than remaining rigid all the time, she encourages you to keep your spine, your joints, your body FLUID. It's amazing how different yoga can feel when you practice in this way.
I'd say go ahead and try one of her videos. You don't have to give up the other ones you are already doing. I think it's fun to mix it up. When you are in a rut, or you feel like you are taking yoga or yourself too seriously, pop in one of Hemalayaa's DVDs and I really think you'll enjoy it.

It makes you feel happy and like a child again doing this yet at the end feel like you have accomplished something, that feeling stays with you the whole day. (Same DVD, different cover?) 『I believe this is the same DVD that was released about a year ago, just in a new package! It was called "Hemalaya Behl's Yoga for Young Bodies." I think it's a little weird that this seems to be the same DVD, just with a slightly differnt name and different cover. It's a great DVD, but it makes me wonder if the manufacturer is just trying to make extra bucks by packaging it new. It's a much better price and a much better buy than the previous release. If you haven't tried Hemalayaa's "Yoga for Urban Living", I would recommend it over this one!
Here's my take on this DVD:
There are 4 different routines. The first one is called Chakra Shaker and is primarily standing poses incorporated with lots of energizing breathing and runs 35 minutes. Then, Chill Vibe, which is another 35-minute practice is all floor work and can be as challenging as you make it. You can do either one separate or one after the other.
With Hemalaya's two other classmates you have a choice of three different levels. I love her pace. She holds the poses for enough time to connect mind and body. She doesn't talk too much, but enough so you don't have to look up when changing poses. These are very creative practices where she incorporates some dance moves and fun moves with lots of laughs. I felt so youthful during this practice!!!
The DVD also includes two extras. The 10-minute Stress Recess is a wonderful release when you don't have a lot of time to do yoga. Finally, the DVD includes a session of partner yoga. Many of the postures are quite challenging and fun to watch.
The music on this DVD is beautiful with East Indian flair. I really like it that you can optionally have the music off. This is a very beautifully designed DVD and a must have.

I was a bit hesitant about buying foam. I was afraid it wouldn't be sturdy enough. After all, you can be putting a lot of weight on it. I was afraid I would squish the block. But these were less expensive than wood; that was the dealbreaker. And sure enough, they have held up. I never have bought any wood blocks because I don't really need them.
I can't give them 5 stars even though I love them. For durability, I'd give 10 stars if I could. But these are SO lightweight, they sometimes don't provide quite enough stability. I do recommend them, unless you have difficulty maintaining your balance.』

IPhone 3G used's review (Does its job, does it well) 『I'm reasonably flexible, but I'm also.. Hmm, how you say? Festively plump? And whether its lack of flexibility or festive plumpness, sometimes I just can't reach and that's what these things are for.
The strap is comfortable to use. It's nice and wide, a thinner strap would probably hurt after a bit because there's less surface area to disperse the stress over. It's soft, flexible, very sturdy, and I didn't have to make it myself.

IPhone 3G used's review (ok stuff) 『I bought 2 outfits, the pants and tanks because of the raves on how great the fabric was. The fabric does feel nice on the skin and it definately keeps the sweat marks away, which is great for me as an instructor. But, it doesn't wash well... the fabric fades and piles very VERY quickly which , in my opinion, diminishes it's value for the buck. The overall fit for both the tank and pants is great, the elastic bands in the tanks however are too tight for me.. I will probably order again though.. perhaps a size up in the tops..』

But, the band around the rib cage is much too tight and makes it difficult to get it over the head and down around my chest. The lenghth is a bit too long. Overall it is ok. I bought 2 different colors and I wear them a lot. I've evern worn them in public, the navy one only. The white one shows through so I only wear at home. I would probably buy another one in black if I can find it available.』
(Not perfect) 『This is made from Supplex, which is amazingly cotton like, though form fitting, and stretchy like nylon blends common in workout gear. Supplex is probably like alot of trade names for blends of poly, lycra, spandex, ect. But the feel is really nice, a substantial weight and smooth feel, almost buttery microsuede-ish. Now for the problemos. One, this original cami is not as good as the straight back, because it has adjustable straps with really tacky and cheap looking plastic findings. Even though I adjusted mine as far as they will go the straps are a bit too tight and the fabric looks like it may break on the straps. The plastic findings are not uncomfortable at least, but I worry they will break and I will be out of an expensive tank top. I ordered a white one and I could swear it doesn't fit like my others. The waist is stretched out and looks a bit wierd, maybe it's just a lemon.
Overall though, I would reccomend this is you are of short or average height, since the strap issue really bothers me and I assume it's because I am somewhat longer than most women. It does cover nipples and holds the girls in tight, though that is hardly even an issue for me. 』

I work long hours (12+) sitting at a desk, and bras can get uncomfortable, so I wear these practically everyday under a jacket, a zippered sweatshirt, or an unbuttoned shirt. It's great in yoga classes too. Unlike in some other strappy yoga tops, I don't have to worry about my chest falling out of it in down-dog poses because its straps and fabric offer tight, secure support. Beyond Yoga uses the best fabric. They're super stretchy and thin yet has enough weight to it, so the nipples don't show through. It's soft, sturdy, look and feel great after many washes. I recommend washing them in cold water, gentle cycle, and air-drying them.』
(Gorgeous, and worth the splurge) 『I usually look for yoga tops that are on sale at my local yoga studio, and I have quite a few that are nice and fit well, but honestly I might not have purchased them if I'd had to pay full price.
But then I saw this Beyond Yoga at the studio, and decided to try one on.
Wow. First of all, the fabric is a smooth, silky supplex that that feels so nice on your skin. The fit is like your second skin, it is so smooth and sleek. Secondly, the top has adjustable straps to customize the fit. Add to it the fact that it sits nicely just below the hips and does not ride up at all, and I knew I'd found the perfect top. It also is not too low cut which means it provides more modest coverage when doing inverted poses like prasarita paddotonasana and downward dog.
I believe that this model has a racerback top - it is not a traditional strappy camisole. It does not say so in the description, but I believe it is a racerback.
It is the nicest, most comfortable yoga top I own and the one I reach for more and more.
