IPhone 3G used's review (A romantic experimental film) 『An original, subversive and boldness film that talks better than any other of Rollin's movies about his peculiar conception of cinema:a mixture of gothic horror imaginary, politic surrealism, dark romanticism and pulp sexy comic book aesthetic, and supported in camera experimentation and improvised performances . The film is conceived as a collage of images, following the estructure of his favourite painter, Clovis Trouille, solution that allows him to blends much of the referents that conform his ambiguous imagination joining with talent Gothic and romantic tradition with avant-garde concepts and experimentation . This is :the oniric poetry of Tristan Corbiere, the sexy shocker surrealism of Georges Bataille, the provocative and anticlerical cinema of Luis Bunuel, the bizarro and pulp melodrama style of Gaston Leroux and the poetic realism of Jacques Prevert. The picture is shown as a film in two parts, working the closing credits of the first one as an inflexion or keyhole to a surreal vampire tale . An amoral, ludic and non-narrative vampire's picture, half romantic, half conceptual and totally experimental.』
(Um.....What?) 『I decided to give Rape of the Vampire a spin, because I love the old B&W horror movies: Dracula, Frankenstein, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney, etc. I also love cheesy horror flicks, both old and new.
But Rape of the Vampire falls into neither classic, nor artistic, nor cheesy-good. It is simply horrible.
In high school, we made a film called Captain Ecology, which could possibly rival this film on editing and plot and acting. Just count your lucky stars that it will never show up for sale anywhere. Feel disappointed? Then go ahead and pick up this piece of ripened cheese.
Filmed originally in 1968 as a short, this French film was literally booed at its opening. Quite risqué for its time, there was plenty of blood and nudity, and perhaps fans of the genre weren't ready for such bold entertainment; or perhaps they knew a bad movie when they saw it. Today, it will seem tame, but it still has the capacity to bore you to tears.
Filmed entirely in B&W and subtitled in English, the story is irritatingly (I'm sure it was meant to be artistic) interspersed with random flashes of inconsequential scenes, and the editing is jerky and poorly done even by high school standards.
The Plot? Well, if you can call it a plot, a group of four women wander about in diaphanous, sheer dresses, believing that they are vampires. After they all die in the first half, they are miraculously brought back to life for the second half, in which another vampire lady joins them and they finally grow teeth. That's about it. Oh, and there is some naked frolicking in the surf.
Rape of the Vampire isn't even Campy, it's just plain bad. If you want blood, buy a bloody movie. If you want nudity, buy a Playboy DVD. If you want artisitic, buy an art film that won an award somewhere. But stay away from this flick at all costs, unless you are truly a drooling Rollin fanatic.』
(it's great, it's boring, it's sorta [racy]) 『not too rapey, pretty vampirey, pretty boring in a good way. this had great music, and some really beautiful shots, i have to say i do prefer color, and i wish there were trailers for similar films on these releases, but it's a five star for any 60-70s foreign vampire...lovers.』
(Confusing) 『Nobody buys a Jean Rollin film for the plot. Sit back and be boggled by visual delights, or disturbed by them.
This film is set in two parts and begins with four sisters who believe themselves to be vampires, and some ends up being one.
I can't explain much because, I have to admit, I didn't understand much of this film. But it looks good.』
(Great film!) 『One of Rollin's earliest, and best. Very sureal. A must for all Rollin fan's.』

IPhone 3G used's review (Review of DVD Movie Cleopatra) 『Excellent movie. I received it in excellent condition and it played well on my DVD player. Would purchase DVD.s from Amazon again.』
(Good movie, bad extra features disc) 『I have seen this movie several times and purchased it to obtain the disc with extra features. The disc would not play due to something being on it that I was unable to remove. I would like to know if there is a way to obtain the extras disc without flaws. Thank you.』
(ok movie - try netflix instead) 『OK film, but use Netflix to rent movies. Netflix response time is phenomenal. You don't have to buy DVDs anymore.』
(If You Really Want To See A Hot Marc and Cleo...!) 『If you really want to know what went on between these two rent or buy HBO's excellent "Rome" series.
Their rendition of Cleo is a short, plain, 32A-cup, homely little drug addict with a realllly bad haircut! That she captures the lust of both Caesar and Marc even though no one might look at her even once on the street is testimony to how "hot" she must be in bed.
Contrast this to Liz Taylor who is as white as snow, aging and fairly fat (OK voluptuous to those in the same weight catagory.) Not only was the obvious display of cleavage distracting but I couldn't get over the eye makeup! Must have taken hours...for one eye...and just think how comfortable it would be if some of that glitter fell in her eyes! Inthe Rome series, their little Cleo gets by without any makeup until she duds herself up to march in and reclaim her throne from her fat little juvenile delinquent brother. Now THAT series had drama!
My hat is off to those who want the original 6(?) hour movie to be made available. I don't think I could stay awake if it was cut to 2 hours. A real snoozer, but could be a hilarious party movie if you were to get drunk.
Go with the "Rome" series!』
(Campy Cleopatra) 『"Cleopatra" was the overhyped spectacle of the early '60s that nearly brought 20th Century FOX to its knees. There was the offscreen love affair between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton (both married to other people) that overshadowed the movie. It's got cheesy dialogue, it indulges in camp spectacle... making it a classic. I used to watch "Cleopatra" all the time, and it's got staying power.
"Cleopatra" doesn't exactly aim for historical accuracy. It's about Liz Taylor and her numerous costume changes. She goes all out like a drag queen- she's the drama queen of ancient Egypt. Cleopatra is flirty with Julius Caesar (Rex Harrison, who looks ill at ease),who treats her like a daughter. She bears him a son---and gets a grand entrance that RuPaul would envy. She's Cleopatra, Queen of the Desert! The procession seems to go on forever. After Julius is offed on the Ides of March, she romances Mark Antony (Richard Burton), complete with dancing girls and milk baths. As an odd aside, the Vatican condemned "Cleopatra." But why? Bad taste? It's filled with campy lines such as Cleopatra praising her thighs and her bosom, for they "are known to bear children."
"Cleopatra" isn't meant to be take seriously. It's the Cleopatra Aux Folles. Like Priscilla, Cleopatra reigns as Queen of the Desert. She's fabulous!』 『This 1963 extravaganza, directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, is certainly an epic historical drama with all the elements: elaborate sets, intricate costuming, name actors, a factual basis, and an overlong script (just over four hours). But the acting is well performed and the backdrops are lush, making this a film worth seeing. Elizabeth Taylor is Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen who seduces Julius Caesar (Rex Harrison) in a political move to hold onto her empire. When Caesar is killed in the Roman Senate, Cleopatra looks to Marc Antony (Richard Burton) for his support, practically enslaving him with her wiles. Taylor is dramatic in her role, at times overly serious, but stunning nonetheless as the woman described as "well versed in the natural sciences and mathematics. She speaks seven languages proficiently. Were she not a woman one would consider her to be an intellectual." While the film does seem to drag at moments, it deserves the four Oscars it won for cinematography, art direction-set direction, costumes, and special effects. Don't confuse thisCleopatrawith the 1934 version directed by Cecil B. DeMille and starring Claudette Colbert.--Jenny Brown』
『Focuses on two Coast Guard ships: USS Burton Island on a mission to survey ice conditions in the Bering Sea in the 1950s; and USS Mendota and its post-World War II daily duties from weather sampling to iceberg watch in the North Atlantic.
The first film on this video titled "Ice Breaker" was produced in 1952 and details life and duties aboard USS BURTON ISLAND on a winter cruise from San Diego, California to King Island.Includes numerous scenes of the ship and crew including: the bridge, CIC, bunks, washrooms, showers, sick bay, engine room, laundry area, and the ship's store. Details icebreaking methods employed by the crew and use of ship's helicopter for recon. BURTON ISLAND stops at Naval Air Station, Kodiak and St. Lawrence Island. The second film on this video is titled, "United States Coast Guard International Ice Patrol." Produced in the late 1940s, is the story of the USCG cutter MENDOTA on Atlantic ice patrol duty. Established in 1914 after the sinking of the TITANIC, the ice patrol has ships and aircraft of the Coast Guard that find, report and observe icebergs that enter the Atlantic shipping lanes south of Newfoundland. The ice patrol base at Newfoundland plots the positions of the bergs and sends out radio warnings to ships at sea.MENDOTA's crew is shown sending radiosonde weather balloons aloft and taking bathythermograph soundings, which indicate the ocean's current, temperature and depth. The ship finds a previously unreported iceberg, Number 39, first by radar and then by searchlight at night. They stay with it, warning ships, until it enters the Gulf Stream and finally melts away, no longer a danger to navigation. The video ends showing passengers on deck on the QUEEN MARY, oblivious to the ice patrol's efforts to keep them safe from icebergs.』 fetish『 Classic Ants Colony Films DVD: 1950s Ant Colonies Behavior, Ant Lifecycles,&Ant Extermination and Control History Pictures Films 』

『One of the big Elizabethan-era films of 1998, Shekhar Kapur's Elizabeth serves up a brimming goblet of religious tension, political conspiracy, sex, violence, and war. England in 1554 is in financial and religious turmoil as the ailing Queen "Bloody" Mary attempts to restore Catholicism as the national faith. She has no heir, and her greatest fear--that her Protestant half-sister Elizabeth will assume the throne after her death--is realized. Still, the late Queen Mary has her loyalists. The newly crowned Elizabeth finds herself knee-deep in dethroning schemes while also dodging assassination attempts. Her advisers (including Sir William Cecil, superbly played by Richard Attenborough) beg her to marry any one of her would-be suitors to stabilize England's empire. No matter that she already has a lover. The passionate Robert Dudley (Joseph Fiennes) is married, however, and shows he cannot stand up to the growing strength of the Queen. With the help of her aide Walsingham (Geoffrey Rush), Elizabeth strikes against her enemies before they get to her first. But her rise ultimately entails rejecting love and marriage to redefine herself as the indisputable Virgin Queen.』 fetish『 Black Knight 』

IPhone 3G used's review (Funny) 『this movie is pretty good. martin lawrence in medevil times is strikeingly funny. a movie the whole family can get a good laugh. a must see』
(Martin proved the three stikes your out rule with this horrid film) 『There once was a comedian named Martin Lawerence who had a string of flops begining in the year 1999 with the piece of rubbish Blue Streak. He struck out again with What's The Worst That Could Happen and in 2001 he made Black Knight. Black Knight is full of bad acting, cliched jokes and it's boring. Martin made another stinker later in the year called National Security and wouldn't reedem himself until Bad Boys 2 in the sunmmer of 2003. It should be noted that Chris Tucker wisely turned down the lead role.』
(It's Martin Lawrence going medeival.) 『The one thing that makes time travel movies so fascinating is how they show the cultural differences between the time traveler and the era traveled to. Throwing a Nike-wearing urbanite into medieval times might sound a bit out of place, but you do get some fun scenes. Unfortunately if it's not done the right way and the scenes that are supposed to be funny get tiresome. That is what this movie suffers from more than anything else.
Okay. You can't really expect much from a time traveling movie with Martin Lawrence in it. A Martin Lawrence comedy, no matter what genre they make it, is going to be pretty much the same. Black Knight does have some good qualities to it, but they get drowned out by... well... Martin Lawrence doing what he does in just about every comedy he's made. In other words it's funny the first few times, but how many times can you see this guy freak out over some predicament? It gets old really fast. The worst part about it is the other parts of the movie actually get interesting and you can see a lot of potential here, but then Martin starts up with his usual shtick and ruins the moment. Martin really needed to branch this character out more.
As far as making everything look and feel like a real 13th century kingdom they did a pretty decent job of it. I wouldn't go so far as to say it rivals the authenticity of movies like Dragonslayer or Lord of the Rings, but I would call it a good shot for a movie with a modest budget. That is until you start getting the music in. These people need to do their research on those long trumpets because they certainly didn't sound right. Also there is a scene where Martin Lawrence gets the local minstrels to play some Motown which ended up being not only unbelievable but just plain silly (and not in a good way). Yeah I know... Martin Lawrence and all that.
To be fair the plot and back-stories were solid. There were a couple of bumps here and there, but good enough nonetheless. I really did like how the whole movie came together in the end. You also get some good performances from Kevin Conway and Vincent Regan. Marsha Thomason does surprisingly well in spite of looking out of place in medieval England. Her performance definitely makes up for that. Martin is Martin so I can't say he really made a stretch in his performance.
Black Knight is mostly just for people who like the comedy style of Martin Lawrence. If his style gets on your nerves then you might want to shy away from this one. Still it's an okay movie if you can get past Lawrence's annoying recurring fish-out-of-water theme. Just don't expect Braveheart. 』
(Better than most think it is.) 『Most People would brush-off the concept of the movie, but it's funny in most parts. The Football scenes are a trip to watch. The ballroom scene also makes me laugh when i think about it. Martin's facial expressions in this movie will have you laughing throughout the movie. 5 stars from me.』
(No Thought Required-- **1/2 stars) 『Leave your thinking cap off and you'll enjoy this movie. Pure amusement. Martin Lawrence plays an assertive theme park worker with no pride or dedication toward his job, lots of self-respect but little to share in favor of others. With the advertising of a competitive park opening close by in the future, he advises the park owner who also happens to be his mentor, to divest herself of the park and retire. Annoyed, she sends him to clean the moat and he's on his way while telling his coworkers to file their job applications at the new theme park to beat the rush. Dredging the moat, he spies a gold medallion on a heavy gold chain sparkling through the debris-strewn water. He sticks his hand in to retrieve it and gets sucked into the filthy water and time travels back to the 14th century.
So begins Lawrence's journey into medieval England. Foisting himself off as the messenger from Normandy bringing news of the arrival of the Duke to wed the virgin daughter of the mean, usurping King Leo, he falls for one of the chambermaids (Marsha Thomason), who happens to be leading the rebellion against the king to reinstall the ousted queen. The supporting cast makes this movie -- from the drunken, fallen knight, Sir Knolte (Tom Wilkinson) to Princess Regina (Jeannette Wegger), King Leo's not so virginal daughter.
Some critics have poopahed Lawrence's acting abilities, but when I watch him interviewed in person and then watch his movies, I can only draw the conclusion that his acting abilities are top notch. One would almost think that the offscreen Lawrence is his major acting role, compared to the ones he portrays. Offscreen he appears intellectual, quiet mannered, almost shy. Who can say that about his performances on screen? While Black Knight won't win any awards, it's still very entertaining and to repeat, the supporting cast is terrific.
』 『When a Medieval World theme park worker (Lawrence) is magically transported back to 14th century England, he must do battle with an evil king, deadly assassins - and really bad plumbing!』 『InBlack Knight, Martin Lawrence plays an amusement park employee who is magically transported back to medieval times and helps return a queen to her rightful throne (while learning some valuable lessons along the way). Despite the script's lack of logic and originality, Lawrence is an engaging performer, with a loose-limbed amiability that makes him most enjoyable company, even if he's not necessarily a better actor than most comedians. If Lawrence ever does a movie with a decent script, he might really have something; as it is we'll have to settle right now for the cheesy yet funny sight of Lawrence teaching a medieval band to play some Sly and Family Stone.--Bret Fetzer』

『Hercules and the Captive Women is as spectacular as it sounds: heavenly meteors, powerful evil queens, midgets, and bodybuilders in togas. Muscleman Reg Park cuts a striking figure as an angular and bulky Hercules, perfect for the part. When Androcles is captured by the queen, Hercules must uncover the source of her uncanny powers.
