(Wow, I just don't get it) 『I'm a 26 yo male and just watched this movie for the first time tonight after a Saturday night in.
I've heard about this movie my whole life. "Everyone" has seen it. "Everyone" loves it. I just don't get it. It was "okay." It kept me entertained, but not engaged. Yet, it was disappointing.
Maybe people are attracted to the violence or nudity in the movie, I don't know. It didn't offend me in anyway, if I want nudity I'll watch porn. I was hoping for something to take away from this movie so I could share in its glory with everyone else who I've ever heard talk about it.
I have no desire to see it again. I don't recommend it. If anything, watch it just so you can say you've seen it. It seems to come up in "movie conversation" every couple years or so. I'm more mad at myself than anything--I really wanted to like this movie, but I didn't. Maybe I should start a support group for the 1% of us who didn't enjoy it.』
(Brilliant.) 『Teenage gang member&Beethoven enthusiast Alex deLarge is betrayed by his gang of street thugs&goes to prison. A model prisoner, Alex is offered an experimental treatment developed by the government called the Ludivico treatment, which is guaranteed to cure his ultra-violent tendencies&qualify him for early release from prison. Eager to get out of jail, Alex begins the treatment which turns out to be a form of intense aversion therapy involving nausea-inducing drugs combined with forced viewing of violent visual imagery such as films of Nazi attrocities, designed to create a negative response to violence. During the treatment, Alex is horrified that some of the graphic films he is forced to watch are accompanied by his favorite song, Beethoven's 9th Symphony&sadly realizes that along with violence, he will also end up adverse to his beloved Beethoven. When Alex's treatment is complete, the prison arranges a formal demonstration in front of a large audience of government&medical bigwigs. Alex is lead onstage where he is unwittingly put to the test in live situations involving sex&violence. Two scenarios are presented to him: an irritating man picks a fight with him, challenging him to brawl&a provacative woman stands before him topless, as if inviting him to ravish her. Each time Alex goes to act on his natural urges he is immediately struck by a feeling of intense terror-he can't breathe&feels as if he willl vomit. Finally he is brought to his knees on the stage floor, begging pathetically for mercy. The demonstration is deemed a success&the audience claps enthusiastically...but the sound of booming applause is interrupted when the prison chaplain quickly points out that Alex's so-called aversion to violence is obviously just a Pavlovian response to the conditioning of the Ludivico therapy, the resulting abstinence, nothing but a sad mechanical (like clockwork) reaction. Nonetheless, Alex is released early from prison as promised&goes home where he seems genuinely intent on starting over fresh as a reformed criminal.. Almost immediately however, he is met with conflict. He learns that his old street-gang mates have become police officers, a job where they are free to indulge the same violent behavior they did in their gang days-only legally (an ongoing theme in the movie)&they brutalize&beat him mercilessly. Next, Alex crosses paths with a succession of past victims from his gang days, all eager for revenge. Unable to defend himself as a result of the Ludivico, he tries to end his life, jumping from a building in despair. When he wakes up, he is in the hospital, having suffered severe injuries, including head trauma as a result of the suicide attempt. He learns that the brutal Ludivico treatment he suffered has been deemed cruel&inhumane by government detractors&that he is being sanctified&celebrated by the press&anti-government groups. Intent on damage control, a high ranking government official visits Alex in the hospital&apologizes to him profusely for the Ludivico treatment, assuring him that the government will compensate him for all his pain&suffering by reversing the treatment&returning him to his old self,&by kicking him a cushy government job with generous pay "a good job on a good salary", if he agrees not to speak out about the Ludivico treatment. Alex enthusiastically agrees. The last scene implies that Alex has indeed been cured&is once again enjoying the lifestyle of violence, depravity&Beethoven, as well as a new career with the government.

(A dazzling masterpiece!) 『 In the near future of the UK, a gang called the Droogs lead by young 15 year old Alex (Malcom Mcdowell) as the future has no proper law where they have their own bit of fun every know and they have their own version of fun which means drugs, sex, rape, robbing and the bit of the ol' ultraviolence. Alex always skips school and always been a troublemaker from the start, but during one night when he invades the home of a rich woman as he attacked and killed her, he is confined for a 14 year life sentence in Prison. But two years later the Government decides to make a program that can reabiliate crooks through special programming that can make them nice and normal citizens without commiting any crime as Alex is the first person to go through this program but can he remain sane and rational or will his horrible past haunt him?
A brilliant and unique Sci-fi drama from Stanley Kubrick is one of his greatest movies ever! this is based on a book by Anthony Burgess and has became one of the most influential movies ever. The performances by the cast including Star Wars's David Prowse as one of Alex's Droogs is superb especially McDowell. The film tells about society in the future gone terribly mad that uses memorable images, disturbing subject matter and an unforgettable electronic music score by Wendy Carlos. This is one trippy and wild motion picture no film fantatic should miss, it's a once-in-a-lifetime cult classic that has been acclaimed by critics everywhere and even caused controversy in it's time.

You guys only like it because you feel smart trying to translate the funny language they use. Stanley Kubrick is lame, watch some Uwe Boll instead.』 『A jolting tale of crime and punishment stars Malcolm McDowell as a young neo-punk who becomes the guinea pig for a state-sanctioned cure of his tendency toward ?the old ultraviolence.』 『Stanley Kubrick's striking visual interpretation of Anthony Burgess's famous novel is a masterpiece. Malcolm McDowell delivers a clever, tongue-in-cheek performance as Alex, the leader of a quartet of droogs, a vicious group of young hoodlums who spend their nights stealing cars, fighting rival gangs, breaking into people's homes, and raping women. While other directors would simply exploit the violent elements of such a film without subtext, Kubrick maintains Burgess's dark, satirical social commentary. We watch Alex transform from a free-roaming miscreant into a convict used in a government experiment that attempts to reform criminals through an unorthodox new medical treatment. The catch, of course, is that this therapy may be nothing better than a quick cure-all for a society plagued by rampant crime.A Clockwork Orangeworks on many levels--visual, social, political, and sexual--and is one of the few films that hold up under repeated viewings. Kubrick not only presents colorfully arresting images, he also stylizes the film by utilizing classical music (and Wendy Carlos's electronic classical work) to underscore the violent scenes, which even today are disturbing in their display of sheer nihilism. Ironically, many fans of the film have missed that point, sadly being entertained by its brutality rather than being repulsed by it.--Bryan Reesman』 『Stanley Kubrick's striking visual interpretation of Anthony Burgess's famous novel is a masterpiece. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Lame with a capital "L") 『Save your money and time. I didn't think I would ever see another movie worse than 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show', but this one would run a very close second. I didn't even make it to the end of this God-awful celluloid disaster. Your first tip that dark times are ahead is the title, which leads you to beleive the year is 2000. But the film makes it clear it's the year 2047......
The acting is campy, and most of the women aren't very attractive. The lovely Catherine Erhardt was the only jewel in the crown, and not enough to save this film from boring. As Cinderella, she lives with her stepmother...a screaching, horny old hag...and two stepsisters, both of which look like a couple of hooker rejects from a truckstop in lower Alabama (with sincere apologies to anyone from that great state).
Since it's the future and sex is taboo, Cinderella is rather clueless about such things. Enter her intergalactic fairy godfather....and the word 'fairy' should be applied figurativley and literally in this case.. who shows up to give her hope and a bizarre crash course in love. Including two people dressed in bunny suits and masks simulating sex. People in animal suits bumping uglies is more disturbing than funny. What the heck were they smoking when they made this???
Those caught fornicating in the future sexless society are shrunken to doll size, as shown with a young couple trying to get their groove on. And here a great erotic opportunity was lost. Imagine the visual impact of a 6-inch high male having to pleasure a full-size female, or vice-versa. But that wasn't possible....that may have pushed the film into the x-rated realm, and secondly, the money obviously wasn't there for such effects. In fact, the money wasn't there for much of anything, most clearly seen in the cheesy sets of cardboard and plastic.
Last but not least, you're introduced to Roscoe. Quite possibly one of the most annoying characters ever created for a motion picture. Part of the Fornication Police, he's a robot who constantly repeats things and whines on and on in high-pitched voice that sounds like a cross between the Chipmunks and a doper huffing helium.
A waste of time and money. Watching the previews on this DVD, I should've opted for 'Blazing Stewardesses' or 'Nurse Sherri'.
My verdict? Somebody should have flushed this cinematic floater before it ever made it to the public.』
(naaaaaaa) 『Low budget sex movie from the late 70's. Might has been exiting then, but by today's standards it is quite boring,,,stupid robot. The sexy Alice in Wonderland was much better.』

Great job with the transfer.』 『This 1977 sci-fi cult classic from drive-in movie legends Al Adamson&Sam Sherman (Dracula vs. Frankenstein, Blazing Stewardesses) takes the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale into the farthest reaches of a way-out future and puts an Orwellian spin on it…with a helping heaping of sexy shenanigans tossed in for good measure. It’s seeing its premiere release on DVD! A sinister Big Brother government has declared sex illegal in the year 2047, but poor Cindy could care less. Dressed in rags and a slave to her wicked step-sisters, the beautiful young woman knows that escape and passionate romance are dreams never to be fulfilled. But one day Cindy meets a handsome young man and falls head-over-heels in love and lust. Braving the Fornication Police, a wise-cracking, sex-sniffing robot, and the government’s impotent omnipotent leader who’s not "up" to the task, sexy Cindy must overcome every erotic obstacle and funky musical interlude to be with her prince.』

What's with the idiotic rock and roll band (between segments) in a documantary about a brutal psychopath who got off by torturing his victims?
No doubt, this is one horrific tale and maybe one day will be done by someone who knows what he/she is doing.』
(Two stars deducted for the campy musical interludes) 『Were those really necessary? And the band wasn't even that good.
That said, I had barely heard of Bob Berdella until I found the book "Rites of Burial" a while back. It's one of better true crime books I've seen, and it never fails to amaze me how some of these people can do what they do under many people's noses, and nobody seems to suspect a thing.
Incidentally, there is little evidence that Berdella cannibalized his victims or served them at potlucks.
A Web search after reading that book revealed that Christopher Bryson, the escaped victim filmed here in silhouette, changed his name and moved to another part of the state. I don't know if his marriage survived this ordeal and its chaotic aftermath, but if you get this DVD, be sure to watch the filmmakers' comments. One of them said that Bryson had never told his children about the kidnapping and torture (he had one at the time, a son) and hadn't intended to, and when he was approached about making this film, he knew he would have to and when he did, "he felt like a tumor had been cut out of him."
The interviews with the key players in this story, and the narration by James Ellroy, are chilling. This film is unrated, but if it had a rating, the re-enactments with the carrot and cucumber would in themselves merit an NC-17.
One need not fear Berdella any more because he died in 1992.』
(Documentary with reinactments!) 『I think your ordinary "scary" movie watcher might not like this. But as a serial killer buff i must say this was good! If you want to know about Bob Berdella and not just watch reinactments (like Bundy, Gacy and Dahmer) this is a good one! You get to see the blood in the reinactments but you also get to hear from an actual victim, see the place and the town and more about the one and only Bob Berdella who was one sick bastard ;)』
(Both Campy and Gory, but interesting.) 『I think only those aware of the Berdella story will like this. It's part documentary, part campy reenactment. Berdella is interviewed, as are the detectives who worked the case and Chris Bryson--the young man who escaped and brought an end to Berdella's murderous reign.
And, to those who, like me, have a morbid fascination in wanting to see the Berdella photos (other than those displayed in the book written years ago), throughout the film, during the reenactment scenes of Berdella taking pictures of his drugged victims, shots of the actual victims are quickly flashed on the screen.』 『Robert A "Bob" Berdella tortured, sodomized, photographed and murdered six men, dismembered them, and put their bagged remains out for trash pickup. Bob’s secrets began to emerge the day before Easter, 1988, when a bloody, naked man escaped Berdella’s home wearing only a dog collar. Berdella later confessed to killing six men - some by lethal injection, some by suffocation. All suffered tremendous horrors, as Berdella would torture them sexually, with electric shocks, inject them with animal tranquilizers, put bleach in their eyes, and inject drain cleaner in their voicebox to keep them from screaming. He documented these horrors in a detailed torture log and photographs. What police called torture, Berdella called "my darkest fantasies becoming reality." Novelist James Ellroy (LA Confidential, Black Dalia) presents this provocative film in a campy yet direct presentation guaranteed to make the viewer squirm.』

Hanks plays the title character, a shy Southern boy in love with his childhood best friend (Robin Wright) who finds that his ability to run fast takes him places. As an All-Star football player he meets John F. Kennedy; as a soldier in Vietnam he's a war hero; and as a world champion Ping-Pong player he's hailed by Richard Nixon. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Fear of the Other) 『Bryan Bertino's debut film "The Strangers" is among the most frightening American horror movies I have seen released since 2000.
Starting with a serious disappointment in "love", young almost newlywed Kristen McKay (Liv Tyler) and her amazingly stoic would-be fiancee Scott Speedman (James Hoyt) retreat to their vacation home in a remote wooded area to get it together. After a close friend's wedding, Scott proposed to Kristen and was rejected.
The symbolism is appropriate for the events to come--rose petals scattered around champagne bottles, the now humiliating box in which a marriage ring is held--beauty and security rejected and destroyed. And me oh my, is it.
The only time the viewer gets a close shot at one of the "Stranger" when both characters are home: a nondescript blond woman pounds on the door and asks: "Is Tamra home?" When Scott answers no, she smirks a bit in the darkness and replies "Are you sure?" Using the eerie backdrop of vinyl records skipping and ceaseless pounding at the door, the nameless killers (who wear childlike Halloween masks) launch an all out assault on the senses, souls, and physical safety of the two. I was convinced that at some point Bertino would make a mistake and reveal the identity of the family? doing this: he never drops the ball once. Even with the predictably stupid decisions made by the two protagonists, this is a great horror movie.
』
(SCARY in a Real Way.... Excellent movie!) 『QUICK PLOT - Young couple is terrorized "By Strangers" in remote summer cabin.
Extremely well made movie about a young couple that is staying in a remote summer home, when suddenly there is a "LOUD" bang on the door at 4 AM. A mysterious creepy girl is at the door asking for an unknown person - and everything for this couple goes downhill from there!
Much of the thrill of this movie is the INCREDIBLE tension it creates through the effective use of darkness, music, creepy sounds, and the "unknown" of what's next.....
This movie will stick with you - and will make you think about being careful when being in places that are too dark or remote.』
(Boooooring) 『If you thought The Happening was slow, this one moves at a glacial pace.
One big question - where do these people live, with no neighbors who call police after hearing screams, shotgun blasts, splintering wood, and exploding car windows? If they live in the middle of nowhere, it would have been nice to tell us that. Instead, any city-dweller viewer is going to wonder when the police are going to show up.
Behold the stupidest human being on the face of planet - the friend of the lead actor. If you arrived at a friend's house, and a second after shutting off your car, your rear window explodes accompanied by a shotgun blast, would you: a) Start your car and hightail it out of there b) Duck under the dashboard and phone 911 on your cell c) Get out of your car and walk cautiously walk toward your friend's house asking "is anyone there?". If you answered C, then it's only a matter of time before the Darwin Theory does what it's supposed to do and removes you from the food chain.
Note to horror film makers - if you want to make people empathize with characters that are going to die, make them likeable and interesting. We get to know little or nothing about the two leads in this film, and therefore we don't care what happens to them. 』
(Great horror movie!) 『I went to the theatre to see this movie, and I found myself constantly jumping. The acting is great. The lighting and music are scary. The pace is perfect. The "strangers" are terrifying. I bought this dvd as soon as it came out. It was definitely worth the $20 I spent for it.』
(Scary but copying VACANCY) 『The Strangers started off terrifying throughout the beginning and the middle, with the elements of being stalked at night with 3 killers. That's scary, but trust me towards the end, the film lost it's horror element. Don't see this film if you loved VACANCY, because this was supposed to be absolutely terrifying.』 『Inspired by true events, this heart pounding, nail-biting frightener mercilessly explores our most universal fears, where simply opening the door to a stranger leads to a grueling night of terror one could never imagine. Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman star in this relentless suspense thriller that will keep you up at night and make you never want to answer the door again!』 『A lean, briskly paced and exceptionally creepy thriller,The Strangersearns its scares the old-fashioned way: through atmosphere, sound design, and a simple yet undeniably upsetting central premise that allows for maximum tension throughout its running time. Attractive young lovers Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman are already having a bad day--she's turned down his marriage proposal--before a knock on the door in the middle of the night announces a full-fledged siege on their remote vacation home by a trio of masked assailants. The film's first third delivers the most consistent shivers as the visitors make their presence and intentions known to Tyler; the second half grows more frantic and bloody before a gruesome finale that may leave viewers either rattled to their core or bothered by its empty nihilism. Speedman is fine as the downtrodden male lead (who's seen tucking into a carton of ice cream after being rejected), but it's Tyler who impresses the most by shouldering the lion's share of the terror. First-time writer/director Bryan Bertino impresses by forsaking the current passion for over-the-top violence (save for the finale) in favor of more traditional means of generating fear, and if his project borrows heavily from other films, most notably the French chillerThem(which shares its "inspired by a true story" origin) and Michael Haneke'sFunny Games, at least he's taking from the best. The sound design is among the many technical standouts, and the unsettling score by tomandandy (The Hills Have Eyes) pleasantly evokes Ennio Morricone's fuzztone-heavy work for Dario Argento in the early '70s. On a completely unrelated note, LP fanatics should appreciate how both the film's heroes and villains share an affinity for folk and country music on vinyl. --Paul Gaita』

The series was well made and almost excellent in every aspect. I bought all three volumes almost two years ago and really enjoyed watching them time and again. Of course, it deserves more than one star but who would read my review if I give it five like most of the others.
After almost two years of waiting nobody has written anything about the big time blooper that they made in making this series. Let me point it out to anybody who is interested. Go and watch the last few episodes in Volume 3 where Jang Geum's raising her young daughter. Look at the daughter's face carefully and try to remember it.....Then you have to go back to Volume 1 and watch Episodes 2 through 4 when the child Jang Geum (7-10 years old) first entered the palace as a new young bride. Look at all her classmates/roommates in many scenes and you will find her future daughter among them. In some scenes she is actually almost next to her future mother.
My point is....with all the seemingly attention to details that the director/producer and other crew members put into the making of a very good series....why did they have to use the same child actress as her young classmate and then later on as her daughter? Did they run out of a qualified child to play the part of her daughter? Or is she related to the director or producer? Maybe they all gambled that nobody will notice such 'trivial' but embarrassing public blunder.
Well, if nothing else, I just hope I added an extra incentive for anybody who loves the series to watch it again....Have fun and enjoy the whole thing all over again...BIG TIME BLOOPER included.
And if you don't have the three volumes yet, I recommend getting them to enjoy every moment of watching a future classic.』
(Min Jung-Ho is a perfect man.) 『After I finished watching the DVD,I thought how excellent Min Jung-Ho was.My heart filled with Min Jung-Ho.
The best scene of Min Jung-Ho for me is that in Episode 46, Jang-Geum meets Min Jung-Ho,who gets out of the jail.Jang-Geum tells him,"You trusted me with your own life." When I saw this scene, I shed my tears. I love the scene.
And I also love the scene that in Episode 49, Jang-Geum tells Min Jung-Ho,"Why don't you run away with me? Don't ask the reason." and he says,"I don't want to hear anything." I was impressed by that Min Jung-Ho respected Jang-Geum's heart.
I like the scene that in Episode 53,Min Jung-Ho tells his Majesty that he loves Jang-Geum and Jang-Geum should be his personal physician.Min Jung-HO's words is for about 4 minutes. I was impressed by his these words.
"Dae Jang-Geum" is the best Korean drama for me.I was obsessed by Korean Dramas with the beginning of this drama.Thank you.』
(THE BEST!!!!) 『I OWN ALL 3 SETS. I LOVE IT! IT IS A GREAT STORY, EXCELLENT IN EVERY WAY. YOU JUST DONT WANT TO MISS.』
(A Rewarding Conclusion) 『The third volume introduces yet more trials for the brave and brilliant Jang Geum, but it also serves up a satisfying, but just, comeuppance for the villains. Yet the quality of this drama is such that even Jang Geum's enemies have complex motivations and even tug a bit of sympathy out of us at the end. What indeed would you have done if you'd been born a Choi? By volume three, you understand why all of Asia was hooked on this series...but then I can't imagine how someone could stop watching without seeing this through to the finish. Unlike the weaker seasons of Desperate Housewives or Sex and the City, you can't miss a disc of this one. Do yourself a favor and buy all three volumes at once!』
(Simply spectacular!) 『Beautiful, exciting, informative, historical, thrilling and heart-breaking drama not to be missed. Need to get all three volumes to get the full story. It's truly quality entertainment to cherish and revisit.』 『The saga of "The Great Jang Geum" concludes in Dae Jang Geum 3 (Episodes 37-54)!
