(don't understand the hype) 『So many people cited this as their very favorite Christmas movie, and I'd never seen it, so I figured I should watch it.
Basically, it's about a boy in the 1940s who wants a BB gun for Christmas. It's set in the 1940s. Rather than a single, linear story, it's a series of scenes about their life in the 1940s. Did I mention that it's set in the 1940s? Argh. Obviously, the filmmakers spent a lot of time and money getting the setting just right, because they beat the audience over the head with it every chance they got. Drove me up a wall, in case you didn't notice.
It's also got the first-person voice-overs from grown-up Ralphie. If you watched The Wonder Years, it's like that. A grown-up navel-gazing about his childhood. It's almost as entertaining as listening to someone tell you about their dreams.
There were some amusing scenes, of course, and I even laughed aloud several times. And I really enjoyed the end. It was such a nice parent moment--that no matter how disappointing his own life was, he could still give that joy to his son. Awwwww....
I'd guess it would be a more appealing movie if I had an idealized view of childhood or of the 1940s (it was set in the 1940s, by the way). Unfortunately, I have neither. Or if I liked Hollywood's version of a "cute kid." I have kids. Three of them. They're cute--or were, when they were younger. I tend to find Hollywood's version of cute obnoxious and whiny.
On the other hand, I can't agree with the (very few) negative reviews--almost all of which complained about either vulgarity or *gasp* a gun! for Christmas! *ack!*--either. It was the 1940s. Kids had guns. They had BB guns in the 1960s, too--well, the boys did, at least--I had to borrow my little brother's. And it's pretty obvious that vulgarity doesn't bother me--I give Blazing Saddles 5 stars.
I'm glad I finally saw it, but I don't think I'll be watching it again.』
(UGH!!!) 『Do people not understand what matted means yet? I mean come on!!! Its not hard...This movie was shot in 1 37 1 which equals to (fullscreen). The theatre version was matted, meaning they cut off the top and bottom which is intended...The tv (fullscreen) version is the original 1 37 1..So when you buy the widescreen version its the matted version, exactly the one saw in theatres...So for all you ppl who think this was a widescreen movie cut into fullscreen then cut again to widescreen are wrong wrong wrong!!! come on ppl!!!...Read the technical stuff about the movie before you make a bad review....Home Alone, Christmas Vacation and this movie all were shot in 1 37 1 then matted for theatres, so if you buy a widescreen matted version its the theatre version!!! Which is the correct version....』

Not yet released IPhone 3G used's review (Cashing in on its populairty by exploiting its fans...) 『Up until this point, Naruto has been an amazing and well-thought up series, and has kept me watching it simply because it never ceased to amaze me. But I realize that at the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, the anime studio that brought the series to life from its comic book source hit a brick wall; they feared that they may catch up to it and may not give its creator enough time to put the storyline into fruition and thus may ruin the consistent flow and pacing that the series had (I believe it was at least two chapters per episode).
But instead of taking a break or even taking an entirely different path with the storyline altogether, the anime company decide to throw in what may be considered the worst filler to ever grace television. This wouldn't have really mattered, but it stretched for over 100+ episodes. This serves nothing to its fans other than to cash in on its immense popularity. As a fan of Naruto, I feel insulted because this particular anime company seems to believe that fans wouldn't care about the quality of the series, as long as there's a consistent quantity available.
Now I don't have a problem with some filler. I've seen anime that have had filler episodes and they were considerably good. But episode after episode of Naruto filler and you start to wonder why they even bothered. It's like they flocked to the internet and read subpar fanfiction as their source of inspiration. Simply put, each "arc" consists of Naruto and his friends looking for Sasuke, running to a village, meeting a key character that doesn't like him and Naruto doesn't like key character; they discover some plot element that puts people in danger or may be significant to finding Sasuke, they fight and win, then at the end of it all, Naruto and key character become best pals even though any leads they have to finding Sasuke are a dud.
Do not waste your time with this box set or the future ones. Even if you are a big fan of the show, they are not worth the effort. I understand it is not Viz Media's fault that Naruto has an endless desert of filler episodes, but there are other ways to support the series without buying these box sets. Go out and buy the comic books, or buy the franchise video games that are available on the 360 or PS3. Or best yet, buy the Naruto Shippuden box sets as soon as they come out (or you can even watch the latest Shippuden episodes on the official Naruto website for free). But do not waste your time with this one.』
(The Filler Episodes Are Here But Don't Be To Upset They're Actually Pretty Good) 『Yes this set will have what a lot of fans call the filler episodes of Naruto that the animators for the series had to make until the manga series made more chapters so the animators didn't pass the manga chapter issues. I feel that these were actually pretty good as you get to see Naruto and his friends interact more with each other than they do in the manga series. You'll see Naruto teaming up with people like Hinata and Kiba to do a bounty hunt for a supposed criminal, team up with Team Gai as they help a terrorized village from a notorious group of rogue ninja, and there are episodes of when Naruto teams up with just one partner for jobs like when he teams up with Ino who's hired to be a body double for a feudal lords daughter. Some of the episodes are funny and comedic while others are dramatic and action packed but for the episodes still entertaining. The animation is still pretty good and clear and the audio is great as well nice and sharp. And as always the voice actors for both the dubbed and subbed versions did a superb job. So until the Naruto Shippuden episodes arrive on dvd for us enjoy these episodes as they are very entertaining and fun to watch for any Naruto fan out there...』
(Filler isn't the only problem...) 『As the other reviews posted have stated the episodes that begin here right to the end of the series are filler The $34.99 pre-order price on box set 10 seems to validate this as 11 drops to $29.99.
Filler isn't the only problem, however. Another major let down with these episodes is animation quality. Shippuuden was released directly after this series ends without missing a beat. Sadly this must have required the top artists working on the project because they definitely didn't do any of these episodes. The consistently beautiful animation was one of the major factors that first drew me to Naruto. It's not found here and actually seems to get progressively worse.
I'd give every box set up to this point a 5 star rating. They are packaged well and pretty fairly priced compared to a lot of other anime series' I've bought in the past ($29.99 a dvd for DragonBall Z with just 3 episodes comes to mind.) A lot of work has to go into the dubbing of a Japanese series to English, and you can play these dvds with direct translation subtitles and it's nearly word for word. This is one of my favorite parts of the box sets because I have watched some translated anime (again DBZ comes to mind) that left me wondering what the hell they were doing when they started making up their own dialogue. In addition each box set has had a major development or introduction of characters and plot twists that leaves you anxiously waiting for the next set. These episodes actually do quite the opposite too often making you cringe at how bad they get.
I still plan to buy the sets for my collection as I recommend other fans do to support the series and anime in general. Just take the reviews here into consideration before you start to watch them to help ease the pain. You can also take solace in the fact that Shippuuden comes after these do and makes up for it.』
(Filled with fillers) 『If any of you happen to be purchasing this box set, you may or may not know that this where the filler arc begins. These episodes were not originally in the manga, but instead show events that happen before the Shippuden the next installment of the Naruto series.
While they weren't in the original story, the fillers aren't really that bad at all. They're just not as action packed, plus some of the episodes really don't make much sense at all. And don't go any near as in depth when it comes to plot. While some of the arcs are semi-long, most are not. The plot of the arcs instead resembles more of a Saturday morning cartoon as many of the filler episodes are stand-alone and don't require knowledge of the previous episode to understand what's happening. And so some people who watch Naruto don't enjoy them, others do. If you're a big Naruto fan and want to complete your collection than go for it. If you don't like the fillers than don't waste your time, it's a personally choice. I'd say it's worth a few laughs and I plan on picking it up.』
(Well I guess you should get it... IF...) 『IF you are a super dooper Naruto Fan, this is the beginning of the SUPER FILLERS of the series which DOES NOT Follow the Manga at all. For those who want something to FILL their time until SHIPPUDEN Box Sets Arrive this would be what you want.
For those who want true to the books STOP HERE your collection is done. Go buy other sets.

Not yet released IPhone 3G used's review (Watch "Cannery Row", it will become one of your favorites too!) 『The film "Cannery Row" is one of my all time favorites! Yes, I have read the novel "Cannery Row" many times and I love it and I did read "Sweet Thursday" many years ago. I know to some what I am about to say would seem sacrilegious, but I actually feel that this film improved the story of "Cannery Row". It gave the character "Doc" a love interest which helps to round out the story and made the whole flow of the story much, much better, omitting only parts of the book which were relatively minor. I especially appreciated the omission of the large number of deaths which took place in the first half of the book. In the film they would have just made the tone of the story wayyyyy too dark! I also like the amalgamation made with several characters in the book into one or two characters in the film and even the changing of some characters such as store owner "Lee Chong" into "Joseph and Mary" (one male character!). For one thing, I just can't see "Lee Chong" dressed up like Dracula. I also love the history made for "Doc" in the film (which is not in the book), about his having been a potentially great pro baseball player who quits at a young age, and his connection to the character "The Seer", in the film. One of my favorite scenes from the film which was in the novel was the wonderful scene of fulfilling the legend of the "Beer Milkshake" and "Doc`s" reaction after tasting it. All in all, the book is like the film but just gives us more background to certain events in the film and the film adds some things to the story, which while not intended by John Steinbeck, still brings the story more depth and flavor.
The film has perfect casting! There isn't a single actor's performance that isn't simply wonderful. There are many standout performances in this film. I have never been a big fan of most of Nick Nolte's work, but I truly can't see anyone else but him portraying "Doc". He's superb and strikes just the right tone of an educated man of science living in a place where he is surrounded by mostly uneducated salt-of-the-earth types. Debra Winger brings exactly the kind of feistiness, vulnerability and sexiness needed by the role of "Suzy". Even here voice, which can be a bit high pitched when she is excited, is in itself endearing in this setting. M. Emmet Walsh as the chief bum "Mack" who has been in countless movies as a supporting actor gives one of his finest performances here. Walsh brings a harmless abrasiveness to the role while still making him thoroughly likable. Frank McRae as the strong but mentally challenged "Hazel" brings a heartwarming innocence to the role which was different from the way "Hazel" is written in the book. I prefer the film "Hazel". The addition of the plot thread where "Hazel" is convinced by a psychic reading that he is destined to become the President of the United States and the subsequent anguish this causes him always warms my heart and makes me smile. The town Madame and owner of the Bear Flag Restaurant brothel, who in the book is called Dora but in the film is called Fauna who is based upon a real Madame named Flora, is precisely played by Audra Lindley. She has the "flaming orange hair" and plays the flamboyant style but earthy wisdom of the character to a "T". Another great performance is from Sunshine Parker who portrays the character of "The Seer" in the film. He might be a bit old for the role, in comparison to "Doc", but he brings a sweetness to the role that makes one smile and makes me cry every time I see the scene near the end of the film. Also, I would agree that, most of the time, narration in a film can be a bit annoying (example: original theatrical release of "Blade Runner"!) and can draw away from the film, but not in this case. In this film you have the wonderful avuncular voice of the great John Huston, the actor/director. He mixes in just enough narration to the film to make it comforting but not annoying. In fact, after I saw this movie the first time from then on when I read the "Cannery Row" novel I hear John Huston's voice in my head when I read the narrative of the book. For that matter the same goes for all the other similar characters between the book and film too!
The Direction of the film was extremely well done by David S. Ward and he deserves a great deal more credit and recognition for this film than has ever been accorded to him.
As far as the sets and scenery in the film, anyone who has lived in a fishing village knows how accurate the sets and scenery were are in this film. I have never lived in Monterey, California but I have lived in or frequently visited many fishing towns along the coast of Oregon, such as Bandon, Newport, Charleston and Coos Bay, and every time I watch this film it is like coming home to those places.
The music of the film is perfect. Mostly jazz and swamp boogie piano, much of which was played by the great jazz pianist Dr. John, along with some finely chosen classical pieces brings a great flavor to the film and helps the viewer even further in feeling they are transported back to that time.
Finally, it is a special kind of film that makes you wish you lived in an economically depressed, industrialized town that stinks like dead fish and where you live around professional bums and a whorehouse! I've lived in similar places and watching this film always gives me the yearning to go back to those towns. Many people who like or even love this film have said that it is one of the most underrated and under-recognized films in movie history and I couldn't agree more! This film deserved many Oscar's which it didn't receive. I have been waiting for years and years for this film to finally be released on DVD and I am thrilled beyond words to see that my wish is finally going to come true! I transferred my VHS copy to DVD-R a couple of years ago so that my tape wouldn't deteriorate any further but the original VHS release was always substandard and of poor quality. It was in full screen and when the transfer was made they didn't even properly center the picture, so even bits of the opening credits are cut off at the edge of the screen. I hope this will be a Widescreen release which this film so desperately needs and deserves so we can see the film finally as the Director intended it to be seen. I think it will help bring this wonderful film to the attention of a whole new generation of film lovers and bring it the recognition it has missed in the passed. I couldn't give a higher recommendation for this film than "See it, you will LOVE it"!』
(Finally!) 『Finally! I've been waiting for this to hit DVD for years! I was just about to break down and get it on VHS, and now here it is!』
(A suggestion to Tom Keogh) 『Dear Tom Keogh, re: your review, verisimilitude? egregious contrivances? Just a suggestion to you: get the hell over yourself.』
(DVD disaster) 『The original film was in beautiful widescreen. The DVD is cropped and therefore should be avoided--a disaster and a shame that Warner Bros. couldn't show proper respect to a beautiful film. Don't waste your money on this.』
(Finally . . . on DVD) 『I am so excited that the DVD will soon be available for this wonderful movie. It is one of my top 10 movies that I have been waiting years to come out on DVD. I highly recommend it. Love the dance scene, one of the best movie moments ever. Love the whole quirky, funny, sweet movie!!!!』 『This 1982 effort at adapting John Steinbeck'sSweet ThursdayandCannery Rowis barely watchable, salvaged only by the thoughtful performances of Nick Nolte as a marine biologist and Debra Winger as a drifter. David S. Ward (Down Periscope) made his directorial debut and thoroughly botched such essentials as pacing and verisimilitude. (The sets look as artificial as any of Francis Ford Coppolla's more egregious contrivances.) If you can stay with it, however, there are plenty of good acting moments to hang your hat on.--Tom Keogh』

Usually ships in 9 to 11 days IPhone 3G used's review (Should have been called Hackers) 『Indeed, this was the early 90's and I was DEEP in the "hacker scene." Except for the fact that everyone in the movie is a bit too old, it really has the feel of that sense of power you felt when you hacked into a system, or cracked someone's lame software copy protection. But the NAME of this movie is what limited its distribution. I was invited to see this by a colleague of mine and he only told me the name. Hell, I thought it was gonna be some basketball sports film or something. But I went anyway. Was I surprised! The movie was intelligent and really spoke about how important the "electric village" would really become. But here comes this little film our of nowhere and just really NAILS it. Yes, some of the film was improbable, and the techno sequences are really showing their age if you've really followed tech like I have. But all that stuff about a bunch of guys probing a chip looking for ways we could mess with it. That was just how it was! And this was in a movie! Anyway, when I want to plug into my rowdier days, I give this one a spin.』
(A fun movie with lots of great stars) 『Robert Redford has been on the lamb for years and now runs a miscreant crew of nefarious characters who are paid to show companies their weaknesses. Along come some so called Government Agents who give him a choice...Help them or go to jail. The plot unfolds and Redford makes a play at the "man behind the curtain" and the girl. This is a great rainy day movie. It's both funny and has some pretty cool Mission Impossible moments.』
(Classic and a good movie) 『i liked this movie when it came out. robert redford was funny, witty and charming. very interesting and entertaining for the redford fan.』
(Sneakers - the perfect action comedy!) 『I first saw Sneakers when I was about 13 years old. I was fascinated beyond belief that hackers could be so powerful and that computers could be so powerful. That was back in 1993 or 94 - and it seams a world away now. One wouldn't think that Sneakers could still have any impact on people after all these years. But watching it again made me so happy. It made me realise that a good story with a great plot is much more powerful than new movies a bit like it (Die hard 4, Mission Impossible). Snearkers is not a movie with fantastic special effects. But it has a fantastic cast, and a wonderful child-like fascination of the new world of computers and the more or less promising digital future. Buy it, if you like super comedy, a good story, great action - and being in the company of some of Hollywood's finest as Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, Dan Aykroyd, Ben Kingsley, River Phoenix and many more... 』
(Who Do You Trust?) 『The film begins on a snowy night. Hackers broke into a computer to issue checks to various groups. One leaves to buy food, the others are caught by the police. [Was such hacking possible in 1969?] Later we see a group who are tapping into phone lines. An alarm goes off because of a device in a safety deposit box. This is all part of a burglary that tests security for a bank: its perfectly legal. Two businessmen arrive at Martin Bishop's company to hire him for a special job. They'll do it for the money. They start to surveil the subject, a professor who may have a formula to create unbreakable codes. Others are interested in that professor's work. "Social engineering" is used to gain admittance to the target corporation. [The slow response to questions tells of the prompting.] Does Bishop talk too much at that party? "Too many secrets?"
Can one device the size of a cassette telephone answering machine allow unauthorized access to secured sites? [Only in a Hollywood film.] Does possession of this device put them in grave danger? "Who were those guys?" Now the mystery begins. Should Martin disappear again? Could a private business have great need for that device? Can official records be changed to create evidence? Who can you trust? The team plans to break into the corporation to retrieve that device. Is it an impossible mission? The film makes it seem plausible. Will there be any problems to hype the drama? Will the good guys win against the odds? The usual formula says they will, with plenty of action at the finish. Does the deus ex machina ending detract from the story?
Does the idea of organized crime owning an electronics company seem far out? Do legitimate companies build trapdoors into their software to allow clandestine access to their customer's data? What do you think?』 『Robert Redford leads an all-star cast in one of the most satisfying suspense films! Computer expert Martin Bishop (Redford) heads a team of renegade hackers - including a former CIA employee (Sidney Poitier), a gadgets wizard (Dan Aykroyd), a young genius (River Phoenix) and a blind soundman (David Strathairn) - who are routinely hired to test security systems. But Bishop's past comes back to haunt him when government agents blackmail the "sneakers" into carrying out a covert operation: tracking down an elusive black box. Along with his former girlfriend (Mary McDonnell), Bishop's team retrieves the box and makes a stunning discovery - the device can break into any computer system in the world. With factions from all sides willing to kill for the powerful box, Bishop and his team embark on their most dangerous assignment ever in this exhilarating high-tech caper from Phil Alden Robinson (Field of Dreams).』 『This enjoyable thriller, written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson (the screenwriter ofField of Dreams), follows a raggedy group of corporate security experts who get in over their heads when they accept an assignment poaching some hot hardware for the National Security Agency. Robert Redford plays the group's guru, an aging techno-anarchist who has been hiding from the feds since the early 1970s; his companionable gang of freaks includes Dan Aykroyd, David Strathairn, Mary McDonnell, the late River Phoenix, and Sidney Poitier, as a veteran CIA operative turned "sneaker." The technological black box that everybody is after, an array of computer chips that can decode any encrypted message, isn't a very plausible invention, but it's a serviceable McGuffin, and the megalomania of the master plotter played by Ben Kingsley has more resonance than most. Modest inferences can be drawn about the very latest high-tech threats to civil liberties.--David Chute』

Usually ships in 9 to 11 days IPhone 3G used's review (Solid, But Didn't Live Up to the Hype) 『I just watched this movie for the first time and didn't see the Moore films as they came out, so my opinion isn't colored by nostalgia or affection for Roger Moore. In fact, I had only started watching the classic Bond films a few years ago.
I've always been a bit lukewarm to Moore's portrayal of 007 as he seemed a bit overly formal and stiff when compared to the graceful yet rugged qualities of Sean Connery and more recently, Daniel Craig. However, most of the reviews from Bond fans I've read seemed to indicate that this film and the Spy Who Loved Me were the two best Moore films; with people citing FYEO as having the "back to basics" approach to the franchise with Ian Fleming style espionage at the forefront.
While it compares favorably to the rest of the Moore films, it's just lacking the qualities that make a good Bond film a great Bond film. The action sequences are quaint by today's standards, although there's some incredible stuntwork done on the skis; while Connery's personality and the superior overall direction of his best films allowed me to forgive some of the ackward-by-today's-standards moments in his action sequences, FYEO doesn't have the charm or charisma to allow for that same leniency. Roger Moore just seems old here, moving slowly with unconvincing edits trying to make him seem at least somewhat athletic. It doesn't work.
The plot itself drags a bit after the first hour of the movie; while this is strictly personal opinion, I was hoping we could just be done with the whole thing at that point. The movie felt pretty light on plot, with the exception of one twist, depending on the action sequences to provide the thrills of a 007 picture. Again, they don't.
All in all, this movie is a solid entry into the 007 library but lacks the qualities that give a Bond movie the timeless rewatchability some of the classics of the series enjoy. There's nothing in this film that you can't find in another Bond film, only done better in the others. As a Bond fan who's discovering the series through DVD, slowly but surely, I'd wager that this film likely only appeals to fans who have nostalgic feelings toward this era of Bond, or the fans who enjoy Moore's take on James Bond.』
(For Your Eyes Only) 『"For Your Eyes Only" marks James Bond's return to down-to-earth espionage after comic book adventures "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "Moonraker". But I must say I find those more entertaining. "For Your Eyes Only" has some very good action scenes, most notably a long car chase, but the story feels like a rather uninspired rehash of "Thunderball" and the villain is forgettable as are the Bond girls (although Lynn Holly Johnson may be remembered for being annoying).
Some think it's Moore's best Bond movie, but in my opinion, "For Your Eyes Only" is one of the weakest Bond movies.』

(More or less Roger's finest hour) 『For Your Eyes Only is showing its age a bit now. At the time a hugely welcome return to basics after the leaden FX spectacle of Moonraker (the second remake of You Only Live Twice in a row for the series), it still holds up as one of the best of Roger Moore's Bonds, but its faults are much more apparent than they once were. Among them is the tendency to undercut everything with unfunny little jokes (a scoreboard keeping count of thugs Bond knocks out, Bond giving a bemused royal wave to pursuing thugs, and a horrendous cameo from a Maggie Thatcher lookalike in the end), some flat studio work (no disguising the fact that the mountaintop Greek monastery is just a Pinewood set), a dated Bill Conti score and a comic relief nympho nymphet Lynn Holly Johnson constantly throwing herself at a disinterested Bond. Luckily, the pluses more than compensate - a stronger plot than usual for the Moore efforts, at least one cold-blooded murder, and a very welcome absence of gadgets until the postscript that ensures that Bond has to extricate himself with his own wits in some pretty good setpieces. Best among them is a mountaineering sequence where he uses his bootlaces - not steel bootlaces, just common bootlaces - to save himself in an old mountaineers trick.
Incidentally, with Blofeld still sporting the neck brace he wore at the end of OHMSS, and with the film beginning at Tracey Bond's graveside it's tempting to think of the pre-title sequence as a way of making amends for the jokey way Bond's nemesis was disposed of in Diamonds Are Forever were the following sequence not the proud possessor of the most surreal line in the entire Bond series, the infamous "I'll buy you a delicatessen - in stainless steel!" So, while this may be one of the Moore serious of Roge's outings, it's not exactly Bergman territory.
It's worth picking up the two-disc Ultimate Edition set despite it not having a great many more extras than the original sngle-disc release. However, if you just want the film the remastered single disc is a good bet, and includes a new commentary from Moore (also on the two-disc set). 』
(Moore's Bond is Back to Basics!) 『After the cartoony but still entertaining Moonraker, Roger Moore gets back to Ian Fleming basics. This time Bond has to retreive and return an ATAC machine before the bad guys use it for their own evil ends.
With this 5th go-around as 007, Moore turns in his grittiest, toughest, and best overall performance as Bond! Carole Bouquet has solid presence as the beautiful, resourceful, and revenge-minded Melina Havelock. As Milos Columbo, Topol is a scene stealer! In my own humble opinion, he's the best Bond male ally in the film series history! British pro Julian Glover gives a wonderfully chameleon-like performance as Bond Baddie Aristotle Kristatos. He is almost overshadowed by Michael Gothard who plays henchman Loque with silent and deadly relish! If this movie has one major debit in the casting department its Lynn-Holly Johnson. She is way too young and cute to be a Bond girl!
Former Bond film editor John Glen though, knows his stuff as he takes over the directing reins. He brings the right amount of energy, style, vigor, and realism to his first Bond effort. This Bond epic also contains one of the best assortments of thrill sequences (air, land, sea, snow, beach, cliffs), ever to grace any action film! Sheena Easton beautifully warbles out the Oscar-nominated title tune!

『After a ship sunk off the coast of Albania, the world's superpowers begin a feverish search for its valuable lost cargo: the powerful ATAC system, which will give its bearer unlimited control over Polaris nuclear submarines. As Bond joins the search, he suspects the suave Kristatos (Julian Glover) of seizing the device. The competition between nations grows more deadly by the moment, but Bond finds an ally in the beautiful Melina Havelock (Caroline Bouquet), who blames Kristatos for the death of her parents. The non-stop action includes automobile chases, thrilling underwater battles, and even a breathtaking tour over razor-sharp coral reefs. But all of this is merely a prelude to 007's cliffhanging assault of a magnificent mountaintop fortress.-- Robert Lynch』 fetish『 A Christmas Visitor 』

But I kept myself away from any coverage, hype regarding the film, so I can enjoy it to the nth degree.
I have to admit that I felt a bit cautious because although the Fantastic Four have been a staple of Marvel Comics history, it's not the in your face action such as X-Men and even Spider-Man. It's one of those series that has to grow on you and you learn to enjoy the characters.
So, I imagined that like the first X-Men movie where they had to go through an introduction, the same would have to be done with the first Fantastic Four movie.
Sure, there will be a lot of action but at the same time, you need to know how the characters are.
Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) is not your typical lead man. He's highly intelligent, detached from society somewhat and can be a cold fish.
Johnny Storm (Human Torch) is the hothead. Playboy and always seems to get himself into something dangerous.
Ben Grimm, the man who deals with being the rocky behemoth known as the Thing. And Sue Storm, the woman who loves Reed but somehow tries to find ways to get close to him (despite him being a cold and dull fish at times).
So, needless to say...our heroes have their problems and for some who are looking for the charismatic action hero, they are superheroes but they aren't perfect.
I happened to enjoy the film. The pacing was a bit off at times but nevertheless, I enjoyed it and optomistic that the second movie can now be fast-paced and hard hitting.
The DVD for Fantastic Four was very enjoyable with really cool. The DVD is offered in two versions (widescreen and fullscreen) and audio quality is offered in 5.1 DTS (which sounds really awesome on my home theater).
The special features for this DVD doesn't disappoint either as it feature full length audio commentary by the stars of the film, a video diary featuring the stars on their media tour for the film - which was very exciting by the way. Deleted scenes, making of featurette, casting session, making a scene, music videos, theatrical teaser and trailer and also an inside look for the third X-Men film (which unusually got the top listing for the special features).
Not everyone is going to enjoy the Fantastic Four film. Even the comic book is not for everyone but those who stick with it learn to enjoy the characters for what they are.
If I had any problem, many of us who are faithful to FF, knows that Dr. Doom doesn't go down that easily. Otherwise Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis and Julian McMahon do a great job portraying the characters.
Again, this is just the introductory film. Hopefully with the second film, things get even better. As for the DVD, it's fantastic.』
(Pretty Good.) 『Good Movie. Chickless is great as the Thing. AND Jessica is always easy on the Eyes.』<
