(Awesome and unique)
『This is great filmmaking! Iconic shapes and colors that drift pleasingly into your eyes and stick with you after viewing. Check out the official description below.

"Color + Modulation is an alluring collection of eight 16mm films that have been painstakingly hand painted frame-by-frame and digitally manipulated on a desktop computer - creating an optically smooth ambient experience.

Working with acrylic&metallic paints as well as with a pallet of permanent ink pens and spray paint canisters this film project took 7 years to complete.

Described as both visually stunning and atmospherically beautiful, Color + Modulation transforms a television or video screen into an abstract canvas full of playful motion and smooth explosions of color and shape."

(Wyrd Sisters - The novel)
『As are all his books, this one is no exception. It is witty, full of great insights and full of dry - tongue-in-cheek humour. It was very enjoyable. He creates great images.』

(This would be great.. except)
『I would have given this five stars, except, like all the other Pratchett movies apparently, there are NO CLOSED CAPTIONS. If you're deaf, you're out of luck. Unacceptable.』

(Discworld is wonderful)
『It's good to see discworld in video format, just wish the animation were a little more modern.』

(Pleased the whole family)
『My husband and I are huge Pratchett fans. We had Wyrd Sisters on video tape before we learned that it was out on DVD. Soul Music just seemed icing on the cake, especially since our toddler loves it. She loves music and just fell in love with the guitar on the show :D.

We can't wait to see if the BBC releases more of the books as cartoons or live action.』

(Terry Prachett's Discworld Set)
『I watched Terry Pratchett's "Hogfather" and enjoyed it very much. When I went on Amazom.com to order a copy, I found that Terry had other movies. I ordered "Wyrd Sisters" and "Soul Music". Hogfather contained real actors. Unfortunately when I started to watch the first of the other videos, I discovered they were in cartoon form (but not for young children). I was somewhat disappointed, but still liked the videos. I was spoiled by "Hogfather".
All three movies are very similar. I love British humor and they certainly fit the bill. In "Hogfather" there was so much going on that I had to watch it more than once.
In summary, I liked the movies very much. If you do not appreciate the dryness of British Humor these movies are probably not for you』

THE WORLD IS FLAT! (But ably supported by four elephants floating through space on the back of a giant turtle.)

The Discworld, that is, as created by Terry Pratchett in his phenomenally popular sci-fi/fantasy books. Pratchett’s cast of wizards and witches, dwarfs, trolls, and giants hail from familiar myths and legends, but in the Discworld they’re a whole lot funnier. Two of Pratchett’s best tales come alive in these animated adaptations produced for British television.

A little bit Shakespeare, a little bit Hollywood,WYRD SISTERSrecounts how three hard-working witches get mixed up in a royal mess when they’re handed a murdered king’s baby to protect.

An epic adventure with a soundtrack that really rocks,SOUL MUSICfollows the rise of a teenage musician from obscurity to Discworld super-celebrity as a rock star who’s made a deal with Death.

(Anti USA war history revisionist documentary)
『The narrator goes on and on spitting out his own version of history where the dumb Americans win the war because they out produce the even dumber Japanese. It looks like he just got some video editing software and edited out free public domain movies and stuck them together with his own voice over. Do a search on it " Marines at tawara" and you will get to the other public domain archives. According to this movie the Brits had the war won and they were fighting all over the pacific and the sneaky evil USA come in wreck it for them and get all the credit. Ha ha ha. He goes on to add "the USA didnt understand the japanese were willing to die? False. The USA mascared the japanese for no reason in bombing raids!" False. He adds insult to injury and says the American economy was booming and that the Americans were partying at home while there boys were dieing overseas. Stupid. There families where missing there sons and daughters. He forgets to add that for every marine on the ground there were 4 sailors to get him there and thats not including the war industry at home. He forgets to add they had rationing in the USA to help them win. He doesn't mention the usa had one victory after another. Give this a skip. After watching this movie you would think the USA lost.』

(Still Finding new color video)
『I am amazed that new color WW2 video is still being discovered. Both the film content&film quality is superb. Most of the color content is new to me,&I have seen the other better known color war docs such as "The Color of War", etc. I never knew the Doolittle bombers taking off of the Hornet were filmed in color. And I never saw a B-29 do a water landing before.』

(Mindblowing)
『I agree with the previous reviewer that the European conceptualization of the war in the Pacific theater (and the narration) are a bit out of sync with it's American counterpart, BUT this footage is MINDBLOWING.

For those of use who grew up with a black and white version of the war, and what was happening stateside, this is an INCREDIBLE resource.

All of a sudden it's just more "real". The weapons and materiel of war look more ominous and devasting in lush, living and breathing color.

The grunts in the jungle all of a sudden look more human- and reminiscent of the later war in Vietnam.

In one respect I think the "European Perspective" adds value to this presentation- I doubt that in an American version we'd see things that make us look less than heroic- like a bunch of jarheads getting trashed on hooch and frolicking in the surf. Also, there's some stunning footage of Japanese civilians killing themselves during one of the island campaigns.

This is a MUST have. However, like any historical document, you should always follow up on your own about anything that irks you. My advice is to go talk to a vet while you still can.』

(Allan Ames)
『This DVD delivers in that all of the content is in original color. For this reason it's worth the price and then some. The writing (French) and the narration (British) are another thing. These folks don't know a thing about the Pacific War and don't want to know. Just hit the mute button and enjoy the Kodachrome movies of the American (and Japanese) home front and battlefront like you have not seen before. Highly recommended.』
『For years the world has watched films of World War II in black and white. Now for the first time, follow alongside those who experienced the war first hand in this remarkable and moving documentary series revealing never-before-seen footage shot in full color.

DISC ONE: VICTORY IN EUROPE (FRANCE IS FREE)
Follow the historic events of World War II– from the course of the German Occupation to the ultimate liberation of Europe. Filmed while the fate of the world hung in the balance, this program includes color footage of military maneuvers, victory celebrations, Ernest Hemingway and Clark Gable visiting Normandy and more.

DISC TWO: THE PACIFIC WAR
Witness the conflict in the Pacific Theater like you’ve never seen before. Captured by filmmakers and American marines, this stunning documentary includes rare color footage of the Coral Sea in flames, Guadalcanal littered with corpses, the deportation of American citizens of Japanese decent and more.』

『Larry, Ron, Bill&Jeff return for more wise cracks that'll make you fall out of your chair laughing. if you liked the first one then you'll like this one. It's A Must see.』

(Blue Collar Comedy)
『This movie is great! As always, AMAZON provided unbeatable service, quality, prices, communication. Only place I order movies from! AMAZON ROCKS!』

(Tired Humour)
『I was rather excited to watch this comedy but was soon discouraged after the first few minutes went by. For anyone who has followed any of the guys they will soon realize that their skits are almost the same as the the first tour. Then the guys came out with their own DVD's. So I also rented those. Much to my dismay, the were also the same. Don't get me wrong though. It is extremely funny, and the guys work great together, but, the material is starting to wear. When I saw the Blue Collar tour for the first time I nearly peed myself. I thought it was awesome. Then I saw the individuals separately, still funny. The second tour, just a little repetitive.

(Another great movie)
『I have purchased all the Blue Collar Comedy movies. They are hilarious! I even went and purchased another for my son who loves them also.』

(Can't go wrong with the Blue Collar)
『One of the funniest DVD I watched in a long time.』
『Join hilarious comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall and Ron White for another round of side-splitting humor. In addition to their trademark blue collar humor, witness what the guys are like offstage as the cameras give a glimpse at what life is like on a tour bus with the celebrated comedians.』
『The redneck quartet from the originalBlue Collar Comedy Tourre-groups for another night of laughs, with (mostly) fresh material performed for an upbeat audience. A funny, clubby preface on a tour bus establishes a tone of lowbrow camaraderie among Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Ron White, and Bill Engvall, but once on stage, the differences between each comic's style is considerable. Amiable Engvall kicks things off with gentle gibes: "Men are basic: eating, sleeping, sex. I can do all those in my truck." The decadent air of Ron White darkens the show: "If I'd known the difference between 'antidote' and 'anecdote,' my friend would still be alive today." Foxworthy, the likable Everyman, comments on his wife's hypochondria: "Honey, you do not have testicular cancer." Finally, Larry the Cable Guy lowers the bar on sick-hick humor but does score occasionally: "I got a vasectomy at Sears. When I get excited, the garage door opens."--Tom Keogh

(At LAST!)
『My family and I have been watching Holiday Inn every Christmas Eve for the past twenty one years! All three kids know the songs by heart. To me, no film has the mixture of sentiment and elegance that this one has.

Our discussion all that time, however, has been "Why won't they colorize it?," along with speculation about what colors gowns and other clothing might be. (Okay, my son could care less.) Never has a film's subject matter and production called for colorization more.

We always figured that the unfortunate racial stereotypical material would keep it from ever being released in an improved version. (At one point Bing slaps some blackface makeup on Marjorie Reynolds for the "Abraham" number, which causes her to say "...and here I was hoping to be pretty!" Ouch.)

But at long last it's available in a colorized version, and it's like watching the film completely anew. Details I had never noticed before pop right off the screen in this one (the salads in the foreground of the kitchen shot, the greenery in the "You're Easy To Dance To" number, the log cabin table center-pieces in the Lincoln's birthday number, Fred's star-spangled 4th of July hankie) - it's really surprising what a difference the color makes in the details.

And I could swear the sound is improved, as well. I had never before heard a triangle being played in the Washington's Birthday number - but it's there now.

Only one disappointment: We had always thought Marjorie Reynolds' gown in the Valentine's Day number was a deep red or maroon, but here it's rendered as black (with a pink heart pin). Perhaps the documentation exists that indicates that was the actual color of the dress or maybe it was a judgement call from the fashion lady doing the color palette design - but we think it would look better as a deep red.

Whatever... this well-wrought release was a long time coming and perhaps it will cause this wonderful movie musical to finally achieve the fame it deserves. (It is far, far better than the later color "White Christmas.")

Get it, and as the Holiday Inn newspaper clipping says, "God Bless America!"』

(I want to stay at HOLIDAY INN..)
『This a a great movie and I love it in Black and White but it was also not bad in color..I usually only like movie the way they were first printed..but I can understand why they would want to make this in color for all the people nowadays that won't watch a b/w film..love the music and dance numbers..』

(Good film with disturbing scenes.)
『I recently purchased and watched "Holiday Inn", an entertaining film (I agree with the product description which states that it is more entertaining than the remake, "White Christmas", which I also recently purchased and watched). It is not surprising that "Holiday Inn" is entertaining given the incomparable talents of its stars, Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. The story is relatively fast-moving, light-hearted, and engaging. The musical numbers are rousing, and causes one to appreciate the talents of Irving Berlin. What I had forgotten and I must admit, was not prepared for, was the "black-faced" minstrel show featuring Bing Crosby and many supporting cast members. I had also forgotten just how painfully stereotypical was the role of "Mamie" played by African American actress, Louise Beavers. Anyone with even remote modern sensibilities will find Ms. Beavers' role, not to mention the minstrel show, at least a little unsettling. It's too bad that the demeaning racial caricatures detract from what is otherwise a wonderfully entertaining Holiday excursion.』

(New life for a Hollywood CLASSIC!)
『Although I already had 'Holiday Inn' on DVD, I couldn't resist buying the 'colorized' version jut to experience it this way. I was not disappointed! If anything, the picture was even 'crisper' than the B&W version, and the coloring was realistic and natural. Bing&Fred are always a class act whether in color or Black&white, but it was great to see this perenial favorite as close as we'll ever get to how it would have looked if filmed this way. Hope Universal commissions more of Bing's [and Fred's] early films to be treated this way! Of course there are certain Bing Crosby films I'd love to see on DVD in any form, namely 'Sing You Sinners' [my personal favorite], and I think 'Holiday Inn' proves it's a worthwhile venture. On this occasion, Top Marks to Universal.』

("Holiday Inn (1942) ... Crosby&Astaire ... Paramount Pictures")
『Paramount Pictures presents "HOLIDAY INN" (4 August 1942) (101 mins/B&W/Color) (Dolby digitally remastered) -- Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire were the stars of Holiday Inn with support from Marjorie Reynolds and Virginia Dale --- Produced and directed by Mark Sandrich, filming took place between November 1941 and February 1942. Holiday Inn had its premiere at the New York Paramount Theatre in August 1942. It was a runaway success both in the U.S. and the United Kingdom, proving to be the highest grossing film musical up to that time --- The big song had been expected to be "BE CAREFUL, IT'S MY HEART" --- While that song did very well, it was "WHITE CHRISTMAS" that topped the charts in October 1942 and stayed there for eleven weeks.

Story line and plot, In the first of two films Crosby and Astaire did together the other being "Blue Skies" (1946), the characters are remarkably the same --- Ted Hanover (Fred Astaire) is the elegant and charming show business professional who's ambitious for success --- Jim Hardy (Bing Crosby) is the talented, but lazy partner who just wants a life of ease and comfort and not to work more than he has to --- Small wonder that their double act broke up --- But now enter a complication --- They both get interested in the same girl who in this film is Linda Mason (Marjorie Reynolds) --- Plus Lila Dixon (Virginia Dale), who becomes Fred's dancing partner with some wonderful routines in fine fashion.

"BE CAREFUL IT'S MY HEART", the Valentine's Day song, sung by Crosby and danced to by Astaire and Reynolds --- Fred Astaire gave a tour de force performance, singing, and, of course, dancing his way through this delightful piece in rare form --- It is said that he worked so hard during rehearsals that he wasted away some 25 pounds by the time he filmed the firecracker number --- He might just as well have been weightless, because he defies gravity with his every move.

『In 1942, Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby teamed up at Der Bingle's Paramount Pictures forHoliday Inn, a black-and-white musical that proves more entertaining than Crosby's color semi-remakeWhite Christmasin 1954. Astaire and Crosby play partner/rival song-and-dance men who compete for the hand of their performing partner, played by Virginia Dale. After Crosby loses, he moves to the Connecticut countryside where he creates a resort that is only open on holidays and puts on the shows with the help of Marjorie Reynolds. Dumped by Dale, Astaire makes a drunken arrival at the inn on New Year's Eve and dances with Reynolds. He decides she'll be his new partner, but doesn't remember what she looks like, setting off a frenzied search at every subsequent show while the once-bitten Crosby does his best to steer him off track. The theme gives Irving Berlin an excuse to craft or recycle a number of holiday-themed songs, such as (in the former category) "Washington's Birthday" or (in the latter) "Easter Parade." The most famous of the new material, of course, is "White Christmas," which became one of the bestselling songs of all time and the title song of Crosby's 1954 film. Astaire and Crosby also team up for "I'll Capture Her Heart," which playfully contrasts the stars' specialties, and Astaire's "It's So Easy to Dance with You" became one of the signature songs of his post-Ginger Rogers career. Astaire and Crosby teamed up again forBlue Skiesin 1946. --David Horiuchi

(Soft Core Porn)
『This movie wasn't really satisfying - I felt like I watching a porno the entire time, with occasional random scenes of either of the leads doing something that might be considered heartwarming or normal. These two people don't seem to have a life at all - we see the woman working once or twice, and never the man. They are trapped in a sex dream with each other which only gets more intense as their lives start becoming strange on the family front. Not really a great movie to watch, unless you are watching it with someone else for pure pleasure.』

(Extremes)
『I was skeptical about watching this movie because of the mixed reviews, saying it's not very emotional, even empty in places. But its not empty at all, very powerful in fact. The main character explains who she is from the very beginning. It sets the tone for understanding what she does throughout the movie. If you think love must come before sex then you may not like this movie. If you think words should come before sex you may not like it either. Sexual people can express themselves extremely well through a sexual experience, few words spoken, and the act connects them unlike words could. This movie is about understanding extremely sexual people and their search to make themselves whole by connecting with another person. No doubt what they are really searching for is another extremely sexual person. But they are also going to use their bodies to test other people until they find the right person. If that's not OK with you, then don't watch the movie. You won't like it. But if you want to see how two extremely sexual people discover that they are complete by each other, then you'll love it. Liking it or not depends on how you feel about extreme sexuality.』

(They Can't Show Enough Skin to Make This One Appealing)
『Ugly people having sex, smothered in tattoos. No, its not a hardcore porn movie. It inhabits the middle distance between hardcore and soft core porn. It is the kind of movie that businessmen pay $4.00 to watch in the privacy of their room at the La Quinta while on a business trip. Erections sans cumshots.

Ask yourself why David (Eric Balfour, a greasy, unattractive dude) would leave the only attractive woman in the movie, Victoria (played by Polly Shannon) for someone as just this side of ugly, Leila (Lauren Lee Smith).

Like most faux art movies, sex moves the plot, rather than the plot incorporating the sex in a meaningful way. The "actors" mumble their lines which are worthless dialogue anyway and not worth hearing.

I would not only add a parental advisory for this film, but would also add the following: "This movie is for immature adults only. Viewer discretion advised and your self-esteem is at stake."

(Quiet, yet moving)
『This movie has an art house/independent film presentation. No wasted dialogue (except for a few of the voiceovers). Powerful love/sex scenes. Nice chemistry between the two leads.』

(disapointing!)
『How this movie got as high a rating as it did is beyond me. I bought it for the ratings but was sadly disappointed. No plot, poor acting, little nudity and only in lead actress (and actor) no others. Even the body of the lead actress left something to be desired (extremely thin with not much muscle tone except legs, and a long torso) For you females, the lead actor had a nice body but he carried himself like a stiff robot and, as I said, the acting was very forced and contrived. What plot there was was really unrealistic with the rapid progress to the sex stage unatural and pretty unbelievable.
Don't buy this movie if you're a thinking person.』

『Lie with me is the story of a girl who likes sex and a guy who also likes sex and all the empty emotions that flow around them.. Thats pretty much it. Studio: Image Entertainment Release Date: 10/23/2007 Starring: Lauren Lee Smith Run time: 93 minutes Rating: Ur Director: Clement Virgo』
『Shot in sunny Toronto and set to a dreamy score,Lie With Melooks and sounds like an art film, but the end result isn't quite so lofty. The plot is thin and the dialogue superfluous, but no matter--Canada's Clément Virgo (Love Come Down) just wants to turn you on and he has enlisted two attractive, uninhibited young performers to assist in his aims. Leila (Lauren Lee Smith,The L Word) and David (Eric Balfour,Six Feet Under) meet at a party. He's with his girlfriend, but finds himself drawn to her. The feeling is mutual. She's alone, but quickly finds an unattached hipster with whom to have a tryst. David catches her in the act. Instead of turning away, he watches. They start seeing each other immediately afterwards. "I'm not hooked on danger, [I'm] hooked on sex," Leila claims, but she isn't exactly the most trustworthy narrator. She wants a purely physical relationship, while David wants something more. They return to their old lives, but the obsession refuses to die. Based on the novella by Virgo's partner, Tamara Berger,Lie With Meplays like a low-budget cross between Adrian Lyne's overrated9 1/2 Weeksand Wayne Wang's underratedThe Center of the World.--Kathleen C. (Its OK but...)
『Just like the first one, the problem is they put in a lot of footage that is NOT of the Third Reich; such as, of Japan, England, America, etc. etc....

It was sort of like they did not have enough real footage, so they threw in a lot of off-topic stuff as filler.

Its OK, but not truely what it pretends to be. As for the on-topic footage it has, it was great.』

(The real treasure of documentary footage)
『The second gem! The real treasure of documentary footage. Thanks digital technology for possibility to have it remastered with maximum available quality.

(Great pictures)
『This is a nice sequel, with interesting footage. Although, some of the footage is a duplicate of part 1, much of it is unseen before. The color footage of the men heading to the eastern front brings many thoughts of the future hell that will ascend upon them. Anyone interested in the history here, will find that the footage here will bring a realism.』
『This sequel to IHF's acclaimed Third Reich in Color Part 1 features more remarkable color footage, masterfully assembled to provide a sweeping account of Hitler's Germany and World War II. The revelations here include vivid combat sequences from The Spanish Civil War, Invasion of Norway, Operation Barbarossa, Northern Africa, The War in the Pacific, and The Invasion of Normandy. Particularly revealing film sequences from The Wars final chapters: The Wehrmacht in Retreat, Soviet Soldiers in Berlin, Hermann Goering in Allied Captivity, and Soviet Victory Parade in Moscow. Sequences from two UFA color propaganda feature films are also included: "Artillery Strikes" (1940) and "Alert At The Pass" (1943) featuring German Mountain Troops in the Caucasus. These and more are presented uncensored, unrehearsed and with color's startling realism. Germany, 2001, Color, 100 minutes, English commentary』

(Dr. Watson, I Presume)
『In the fourth film in the Rathbone Sherlock Holmes series, the good detective and Dr. Watson are pitted once again against the forces of evil once-again threatening to destroy England. What is the meaning of these dancing men...?

Legend Films has gone a great service to the classic film lexicon by preserving and updating this treasure from World War II Britain. After all, Secret Weapon stands out as being one of the few Holmes tales set in the contemporary era, as opposed to some alien, Victorian past. To what end you might ask? Why, to challenge the greatest villains in history, the Nazis, of course. And now, the great detective does so in full color for the first time.

Yes, the plot leaves a little to be desired (having been scantily influenced by Doyle's original writings) and so do the production values, but fans of Holmes will appreciate the "Easter egg" references and cameos buried within. I challenge you find one in particular, a tiny reference to Holmes' cocaine use.

As is typical with Legend Films releases, the DVD contains both the colorized and the black and white versions of the film, so that you can appease both the kids and the staunch traditionalist in your house.』

『The Legendary Sherlock Holmes squares off once again against his nemesis, the diabolically brilliant Professor Moriarty. Moriarty kidnaps the inventor of a new wartime bombsight, and threatens to sell the invention to the Nazis. England's fate hangs in the balance as Holmes and Watson must break a secret code of dancing men to stop the Nazis and rescue the inventor. The amazing colorization, created with a new cutting-edge digital technology, breathes new life into this already excellent film. Also included on this DVD is the original black-and-white version, beautifully restored as well. This is the definitive DVD edition ofSherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon.』

(This DVD is SO worth the money!)
『Hi-5 is both the best show and best kept secret in children's programming! I only paid $8.99 for it and it is worth way more than that! My daughter loves it and I think it is entertaining as well!』

(Singing and DANCING)
『I have a 21 month old who is obsessed with Hi-5! I love that she is because of several things:

1) She has improved coordination and can follow along with everything in the dvd's
2) She gets her 14 year old brother and 15 year old sister to sing and dance with her.
3) Dad has even been taught to follow the moves.
4) If we mess up on a step---she corrects us!

It is so fun to see how condident and happy these videos make my little girl! Highly recommend any of the dvd's and the show on TV. We even watch OnDemand at Comcast if you have that digital cable service.』

(Kids Love This!)
『My children are already in love with the Hi-5 gang after watching early morning TLC. Adding this DVD to our collection has proven to be beneficial in more than one way. Primarily, it is incredibly educational and catches the attention of my 4-year-old, as well as my 6-year-old. Other playmates of my children have given the same feedback...boys and girls, alike! I highly recommend ALL the Hi-5 DVD's!』

(High 5 for Hi-5)
『Both of my boys- ages 3 and 7- love Hi-5, which is a hard age combination to get them to agree on a dvd. The songs are super catchy- I find myself singing them to myself sometimes. They are similar to ABBA. The dvds are also educational, but don't tell my kids!』

(You Won't Tire of It!)
『My 3 yr. old son is a High-5 fanatic. This DVD is great! I am a music teacher, and I especially like the fact that the singing of the cast is in tune and energetic without shouting like today's pop stars.』
