(Watch Over and Over Again!)
『The only thing I'll add to the other 4- and 5-star reviews is that I wish it was longer! I could watch several hours more of this film footage. Very well done.』

(World War I in colour)
『Excellent video, Kenneth Branagh did a outstanding job of documenting facts and presenting them in segments that pulled together. For anyone that enjoyed this i would recommned Fall of Eagles which also deals with the relationship between Austria, Prussia and Russia. I would recommend this video to any history buff』

(The Impacting Color, Red)
『I'm not going to write about the scope of this DVDs military/historical merit because I'm not a historian and don't want to offend the sensibilities of those who are. I would instead like it known beforehand that I have read a lot on the subject, have watched a lot on the subject, and have delved into some of the more bizarre intrigues of warfare. My great-grandfather, a doughboy himself, sparked my interest when I was a child and, with that still impressing an ever-impressionable mind, I purchased this set to perhaps see a little more clearly into that mirror in time.

While it isn't the image that makes the tale but the way it is actually told, there are a few images in the series that really did make an immediate impact. The first were the naval sinkings; when I watched those in black and white I had always seen the ship roll over and start to sink and had thought of how horrible that must be. When it went to color I didn't see it as a ship anymore, however, but more as a floating fortress with thousands of little people trying to dive into the water while hoping to escape. That really brought home how horrible this was, with the color etching little moments into a larger affair that really made an impact.
And what an impact it made.

Some of the other things that were brought out quite stunningly were the multi-cultural aspects of war, with the British colonies showcasing an astounding array of people I had never envisioned, and the sheer variation in uniforms that moved from nation to nation. As you watch the Germans march you could see how they stood apart from their Austro-Hungarian allies, for example, and when you stared down a line of trenches you saw some of the people that seemed to blend in with the surroundings. That meant exploring the mud and the foundation and seeing a little more of the condition, knowing all-the-while that those people "going over the top" were really more like myself than I had ever explored.
That was really terrifying to think about, and especially so in some of the major conflicts where tens of thousands lost their lives in less than a day of fight.
Then there were the machines of war, the tanks and the air battles especially, and how they looked. I never imaged the German aircraft being so colorful, truth be told, even though I had seen them in books and had seen recreations. It just didn't connect - but seeing it there made it seem all-the-more overwhelming.

On the merits of that and that alone, I would say this is an excellent buy. If you go by price alone, World War 1 is actually the true forgotten war, with entire volumes on the conflict costing meager sums when compared to its more contemporary counterparts. It is short, true, and the longer sets do lay down a better foundation. Still, the set is quite amazing in scope and detail.』

(Really helps connect with history)
『Stunning to see this ancient history become real. Quite an accomplishment. Several reviewers have complained of the re-use of some footage, but it isn't that big a deal. Highly recommend.』

(World War 1 in color)
『Great product for teaching this generation about World War 1』
『World War 1 in Color is the definitive history of the First World War seen now for the first time ever in color and narrated by the highly acclaimed actor Kenneth Branagh. World War 1 in Color uses rare archive footage from worldwide sources including Russia, Germany, France, Italy, the USA and Britain’s own Imperial War Museum. This six part landmark series brings to the viewer the gritty reality of life in the trenches during the First World War.』
『With all the incredible World War II documentaries out there, it is pretty amazing how few World War I documentaries there are, let alone quality ones. Part may be from the minimal amount of archival footage, much of which is really rough, and the fact that most of the veterans died before having the chance to tell their stories on color film. But as Ken Burns has taught us, none of these elements are necessary to create great documentaries. All you need is a little creativity, scholarly and dramatic content, and a sharp presentation.World War 1 in Coloris one of those documentaries. Narrated by Sir Kenneth Branagh,World War 1 in Colordoes a great job presenting this important time in world history in a way that is both academic and heart wrenching, with a modernized presentation. Lasting from 1914-1918 and involving 68 million soldiers, WWI was the first modern war and set the historical course for the entire 20th century. On one hand, it ended many old concepts of battle and gallantry that existed in Europe for centuries. On the other hand, it introduced many modern elements of war including grand multinational involvement and technological innovation including the use of submarines, air warfare, trenches, and chemical weaponry. The big selling point of this DVD is obviously the colorization of the archival footage, which is fascinating and does bring a shocking realism to the war. But it is important to note the colorization never comes off as a gimmick, nor does it overshadow the high quality of this documentary.World War 1 in Coloris broken up into six episodes; "Catastrophe" (the cause and start of WWI), "Slaughter in the Trenches" (the great stalemate of the German, French and British ground troops on the western front), "Blood in the Air" (the story of the introduction of air warfare), "Killers of the Sea" (innovation in sea battle including the use of the submarine), "Mayhem on the Eastern Front" (the political and military chaos with the Germans, Austrians and Russians), and "Victory and Despair" (1918, the costliest year of the war; America's involvement; the end of the stalemate on the western front; the end of the war; and the Treaty of Versailles). If you are looking for a strong overview and starting point to learn about WWI look no further thanWorld War 1 in Color. It is quite impressive.--Rob Bracco

(Must have!)
『This is def. a must have along with Toy Story a great fun story loved by kids of all ages and grown-ups too! Toy Story 1&2 are classics!』

(Great, but not as great as original.)
『Overall, this is one of the better sequels out there. The animation is wonderful and I love the soundtrack. This really keeps my 2 year olds attention and he loves Woody and Buzz. I think the first Toy Story was a little bit more unique/original/quippy, but this is great, too.』

(EXCELLENT)
『Very few sequels are as good as the first movie. But, I believe this movie is even better than the original. The creators of these movies are just SO TALENTED. The characters are just great. The writing is great. I even catch myself with a tear in my eye when Jessie tells her story about becoming an unwanted toy, and being given away when her little girl out grows her. It made me think of all the toys I outgrew and gave away. I hope I didn't hurt their feelings too badly! LOL
Anyway, my 4 year old twin girls love this movie. They have even talked about asking Santa for a Buzz Light Year and Woody doll this year.
As one of my girls say..."Buzz Light Year to the ress room, to imfimity and beyond!"
Our whole family enjoys this movie. A true classic!』

(Big Fun, Fascinating Facts...)
『There is simply no better way to own these two masterpieces of modern animation. Both films are funny, engaging, and surprisingly moving in some places, while technically they stand as perhaps the best modern animation has to offer. But the real stand-outs of the Ultimate Toy Box are the extras - this is the reason DVDs are made. The Toy Box treats the two films exhaustively, from conception, to execution, to production, to marketing and audience reception. It is like taking a crash course in animation and film making from people who love what they do. By the time you are done exploring the making of these two films through the excellent documentaries and commentaries included in this set, you will love animated film-making too. Well worth the money, especially if you can find it second-hand (the set is now out of print), this is a must-own for any animation, film, or DVD lover. Forget the recent two-disc special editions and get the original great set.』

『The wordBarakameans "blessing" in several languages; watching this film, the viewer is blessed with a dazzling barrage of images that transcend language. Filmed in 24 countries and set to an ever-changing global soundtrack, the movie draws some surprising connections between various peoples and the spaces they inhabit, whether that space is a lonely mountaintop or a crowded cigarette factory. Some of these attempts at connection are more successful than others: for instance, an early sequence segues between the daily devotions of Tibetan monks, Orthodox Jews, and whirling dervishes, finding more similarity among these rituals than one might expect. And there are other amazing moments, as when sped-up footage of a busy Hong Kong intersection reveals a beautiful symmetry to urban life that could only be appreciated from the perspective of film. The lack of context is occasionally frustrating--not knowing where a section was filmed, or the meaning of the ritual taking place--and some of the transitions are puzzling. However, the DVD includes a short behind-the-scenes featurette in which cinematographer Ron Fricke (Koyaanisqatsi) explains that the effect was intentional: "It's not where you are that's important, it's what's there." And what's here, inBaraka, is a whole world summed up in 104 minutes.--Larisa Lomacky Moore

(Like the film, but can't stand this release...)
『As much as I could like a Tarantino film, his presence was too prominent on this DVD, and it didn't have to...

I like the film very much, and though I've seen a release with better subtitles, I could've given this release a 4/5 stars, if maybe instead of the Tarantino comments, I could've gotten a small video with WKW, or even another video related to the film, but without Tarantino.

This release could be okay, if it dropped on price. Otherwise, wait for another release of the film with less Tarantino in it...』

(Left me feeling somewhat distant and disconnected, which is not what I expected...)
『I really wanted to like `Chung Hing Sam Lam'; really. All of the praise the film has received and all of the adoration fans shell out to director Kar Wai Wong, I just really wanted to like this, especially since my first experience with Wong's work (`My Blueberry Nights') was less than impressive. I don't know if maybe it was a cultural barrier, but I just didn't get it. I mean, I got it, as in I understand the point he was trying to make, but I didn't get the love for the film. I pride myself on being able to indulge in foreign film, in fact some of my favorite films stem from Europe (Germany and Italy for the most part), but I have never really gotten into Asian cinema, and I understand that it is a completely different breed of filmmaking over there so maybe I just need a little more time to grow accustomed to it.

`Chung Hing Sam Lam' is split into two stories, both telling of a police officers loneliness and need of affection.

The first story tells of He Zhiwu (or Cop 223) who has just broken up with his girlfriend May and has decided to give her a month to come back to him. May loved pineapples and so he decides to buy a can of pineapples every day for a month with the expiration date of May 1st and says that if she doesn't come back to him by that date then he will move on. In the meantime he is hot on the tale of a woman in a blonde wig smuggling drugs.

This roughly takes about forty minutes to tell; which is sad because it was by far the most engrossing tale of the two.

The second story tells of cop 663 who has also just ended a relationship and is persuaded by the owner of a snack shop to ask out his new employee (and niece) May (a different May). May is into American music (she listens to the same song over and over and over which serves as a hindrance to ones enjoyment of the film) and soon becomes infatuated with cop 663 (he is never given a name), but 663 is still hung up on his old girlfriend, a flight attendant whom he had a tryst with. May winds up entering 663's apartment when he's not home just to be near him in a way and 663 finds that he is thinking more and more of May.

This section of the film was the weakest link for me. The acting was superior to the first section yet the overall feel and pace of the story was dry and lacked any real connection. Tony Leung is raved as one of Asia's finest actors, and he is (from what I've seen) a very, very good actor; and he is the best part of this film, but the material he's given is rather bland. You'd think that his story would be interesting, but the film moves at such a pace that the emotional conflict between 663 and May came of dulled and vapid.

I just didn't care about anyone in this film, and in order to connect with a film you have to care about the characters.

In the end I have to say that Kar Wai Wong has a nice visual style (that's what makes the first section of the film so engrossing) but his decisions as a director sometimes weight down his films. Both of the films I've seen of his don't seem to be refined or very well thought out. For instance, I mentioned that May listens to the same song over and over, and that song is permanently imbedded into the soundtrack, even when it's just background music, and that comes off as an annoyance. Same with `My Blueberry Nights', which kept the same Norah Jones song on repeat. It is small details like this that can either elevate the feel of a film or drastically lower it.

I'm going to give Wong another chance (three strikes right?), especially since the most raves he's ever received go to his work on `In the Mood for Love' and I have yet to see that movie. If `In the Mood for Love' proves to be worthy of the praise and accolades it's received than I'll look further into the catalog of Wong's filmography, but if it turns out to leave me cold like this one then I think I may need to give up on him altogether.』

(Do you like pineapple?)
『Chungking Express opens on a steamy spring night and despite the late hour the hustle on the streets is endless and voices speaking Cantonese, Hindi, English, and other languages fill the air along with cigarette smoke and fried food. It is amongst this chaotic order that the audience is introduced to Officer 223 He Qiwu who on this night falls in love with a woman sporting a blonde wig and a pair of dark sunglasses who he bumps into on the street. The woman remains a mystery throughout the film, but it becomes soon apparent that she is involved in drug trafficking, and so when the Indians she hired to smuggle the drugs disappear, she finds herself in a precarious spot and a night of gunshots and bloodshed begins. Planning on fleeing Hong Kong the next day, the woman meets the heartbroken He Qiwu, his girlfriend broke up with him on April Fool's Day and he has waited for a month to hear from her with no success, and they spend one night together and thereby solidifying a memory within the being of He Qiwu.

The second story revolves around Officer 663 whose love and chef salads have been spurned by a gorgeous stewardess. Living now in a nicotine and junk food induced haze, Officer 663's social activities seem to be limited to work and visiting a local diner. However, lucky for him, the owner's cute, short-haired cousin Faye, played by the pop singer Faye Wong, falls almost instantly in love with him. However, being too shy to come forward with her feeling, Faye, with a key left at the diner by Officer 663's ex-girlfriend, enters his apartment and spends her time eating his food and exchanging his things for some of her own. How long can such a bizarre closeness keep up, and is Officer 663's clueless nature really as thick as it seems to be?

The above story outline of the film does little justice for the film itself. One does not simply watch a Wong Kar Wai film; one experiences his films with all of one's senses which are titillated because of the visual and aural delights that the film has to offer. One can almost feel the steamy heat, smell the sweat on the stewardess's back as Officer 663 runs the toy plane up her curviness, and taste the lovely foods depicted in the film. Besides making the senses tingle, Chungking Express is a nice love story even if some of the romances in the film last for only a few hours. A good film for those who want to experience Hong Kong cinema without the martial arts, Chungking Express is indeed vital for one's East Asian film library.』

(Best romantic comedy ever)
『I've rated over 1700 movies. Only 49 of them got 5 stars. Chungking Express is the only romantic comedy in that group. If you don't fall in love after watching this flick, you're just creepy, and possibly a Klingon.』

(One of the best foreign language romantic comedies ever!)
『What can you say, Wong Kar Wai is a genius and this is his most light hearted and funniest movie. It may seem a little dated but the characters are classic and the situations in which they meet all seem so plausible minus the whole drug connection thing. Leaves you with a smile long after the movie is over.』
『The whiplash, double-pronged Chungking Express is one of the defining works of nineties cinema and the film that made Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai an instant icon. Two heartsick Hong Kong cops (Takeshi Kaneshiro and Tony Leung), both jilted by ex-lovers, cross paths at the Midnight Express take-out restaurant stand, where the ethereal pixie waitress Faye (Faye Wong) works. Anything goes in Wong s gloriously shot and utterly unexpected charmer, which cemented the sex appeal of its gorgeous stars and forever turned canned pineapple and the Mamas and the Papas California Dreamin into tokens of romantic longing.

Chungking Expresstells two stories loosely connected by a Hong Kong snack bar. In one story, a cop who's been recently dumped by his girlfriend becomes obsessed with the expiration dates on cans of pineapple; he's constantly distracted as he tries to track down a drug dealer in a blond wig (played by Brigitte Lin, best known fromSwordsman IIandThe Bride with White Hair). Meanwhile, another cop who's recently been dumped by his girlfriend (Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, from John Woo'sHard-BoiledandA Bullet in the Head) mopes around his apartment, talking to his sponge and other domestic objects. He catches the eye of a shop girl (Hong Kong pop star Faye Wang) who secretly breaks in and cleans his apartment. If you're beginning to suspect that neither of these stories has a conventional plot, you're correct. WhatChungking Expressdoes have is loads of energy and a gorgeous visual style that never gets in the way of engaging with the charming characters. The movie was shot on the fly by hip director Wong Kar-Wai (Happy Together,Ashes of Time), using only available lighting and found locations. The movie's loose, improvisational feel is closer to Jean-Luc Godard'sBreathlessthan any recent film--and that's high praise. Quirky, funny, and extremely engaging,Chungking Expressmanages to be experimental and completely accessible at the same time.--Bret Fetzer

(Challenging fun workout)
『I really enjoyed this workout. I need to add more cardio to my workout routine and I love to do toning workouts so this dvd gives me the best of both worlds! I found it challenging and fun. I had never done any workouts instructed by Tracey Staehle before, but she is very encouraging and friendly, which is great. I loved that the moves were different and fun and hope that more routines are made in this series!』

(Quite a good workout :-0)
『I don't know why Amazon won't release this yet, when you can already buy it online elsewhere ... so that's what I did and I like this alot.
I already have another workout of Tracey's and that's why I decided to give this a go. It's pretty good and definately more geared toward the intermediate to advanced exerciser. It is interval training with good cardio and intense toning. There are modifications if you find some moves too hard; she'll start with a base move that you can stay with, and then shows ways to add more intensity if you are feeling that way inclined. All you really need are some dumbbells and you are good to go. The dvd even comes with a little booklet about planning out healthy meals.
It's about 50 minutes all up and when you are done, you feel great. You will feel this the next day or two and work up a big sweat. I enjoyed it and will try and use this at least once a week or so along with all the other workouts I do. This is fun and Tracey is a good instructor. Give it a go.』

『I really don't get how some people rated this movie so highly. Maybe I saw a different "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"? This was a terrible movie. Like really, truly awful. There were no redeeming factors. I did not even smile much less laugh a single time during this movie.

Basically it's about this whiny guy named Peter who is upset that his TV actress, Sarah, broke up with him to be with some tree hugging singer. Awww.... I feel for you, Peter. I really do. But the fact that you REMAINED whiny and weepy all they way up until the last.... oh I dunno.... 7 minutes of the movie.... is really inexcusable. In all honesty, I really don't care all that much about how your ex your broke your heart and I certainly don't want to watch an hour and a half of you crying and drunkenly stumbling around Hawaii feeling sorry for yourself. This is supposed to be a ROMANTIC comedy. As in the movie should actually revolve around a ROMANCE. Not wallowing self pity with a new love (lust?) interest sort of thrown into the movie during the last half hour.

Along a similar segue, the plot lines were thin at best. Plus, the characters were extremely shallow and often would have these mystifying changes of personality in order to create some forced scene the director just HAD to have in the movie; most of which revolved around sex. Like did we just forget to hire a screen writer? Oh wait! Is that supposed to be the funny part? Because, to me, funny sex conversations are like watching a guy get hit in the balls. MAYBE funny once and then it just gets boring to watch.

So save your money. If you want a light, romantic comedy, forget Sarah Marshall and try something else.』

(Hilariously Unexpected)
『I laughed a lot, which means this was very funny to me. Jason Segel from "Knocked Up" plays Peter Bretter whose girlfriend breaks up with him. Segel wrote the screenplay&bares all in the beginning of the film, which was startling. But he plays it in a very matter-of-fact way, seemingly comfortable even though not the most toned of men. His girlfriend is Sarah Marshall who is running on a crime scene TV show. Kristen Bell who is currently on TV's "Heroes"&was "Veronica Mars" in that series does an incredible acting job. The fine delicacy of emotion that comes across her face, the sorrowful regret as she breaks up with Peter, and the desire to come back to him are communicated with the depth one might achieve while standing on the first step walking down into the shallow end of the pool. She's also beautiful, but not overly funny. Mila Kunis from TV's "That 70s Show"&recently in "Max Payne" is both beautiful, touching&funny. As Rachel, she well handles the levels of sticking up for herself, romantic lead&funny sidekick to Peter. Russell Brand as the narcissistic rock star Aldous who is Sarah's new boyfriend preens and prances in hilarious fashion. Paul Rudd turns in an excellent comic performance as the air-headed surfing instructor. He was also in Knocked Up (Unrated Widescreen Edition) as well as Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy (Unrated Widescreen Edition)¤tly in the hilarious "Role Models." Jonah Hill who was in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin"&"Knocked Up," shows up as a waiter with an agenda. Bill Hader from TV's "Saturday Night Live"&"Superbad" plays Peter's brother Brian. Brian's wife Liz is played by "Saturday Night Live" alumni Liz Cackowski. Nicholas Stoller who wrote "Fun With Dick&Jane" helms the picture for his first film&keeps the laughs and pacing brisk. The Dracula musical finale was hilariously unexpected. This is a great comic film. Enjoy!』

(You won't forget this comedy)
『Jason Segel proves that he is the latest Judd Apatow protege to deliver the comic goods in this raunchy, sweet and totally entertaining comedy about healing broken hearts.

Segel wrote and stars as an underacheiving every man who, after getting dumped by his celebrity girlriend (Kristen Bell) takes a vacation to Hawaii to put her behind him. The buds of a new romance develop quickly when he meets Rachel (Mila Kunis) who works the front desk at the resort he stays at. But as fate would have it, Sarah and her new boyfriend (Russell Brand) are staying there as well.

In lesser hands, this could have devolved into pure Hollywood cliche: Segel's character spends the entire movie trying to win Sarah back all the while oblivious to the fact that Rachel is the right woman for him. Thankfully, this movie is a great deal smarter and more emotionally complex than that. Peter and Rachel begin, albeit hesitantly, a relationship but Sarah eventually realizes she still cares for her ex and attempts to win him back. Peter's dilemma of whether or not to pursue his relationship with Rachel or fall back into his old one with Sarah feels real and messy, with serious consequences.

But let's not get too serious here...this is a comedy after all. The supporting cast is terrific including Paul Rudd in another hilarious turn, the fat guy from Superbad who makes the most out of his limited screen time, and most notably Russell Brand as Sarah's new boyfriend. Brand manages to raise the comic energy of every scene he's in.

The movie ultimately works it's way towards a satisfying ending, but getting there is great fun. The jokes never feel rushed or out of characther. Segel's writing allows for the comedy to flow from the characters' personalities which can lead to some enormous belly laughs. There is also a ton of raunchy humor here as well, but it's evened out by the underlying tenderness that flows throughout the film.

The only question that lingers after the movie ends......who will be the next Apatow player to wow us with a comedy gem? I can't wait to find out.』

(Great Comedic Timing)
『That's what this movie's strongest point is. Each of the actors know when the punchlines should be inserted and do so frequently throughout the entire movie. Writer/Star Jason Segel proves his growing talent in this film.』
『Join the cast of Forgetting Sarah Marshall as they dare to bare all in this Unrated Collector’s Edition filled with more laughs, more adventure and way more fun!

Peter (Jason Segel) is a struggling musician who finds his world turned upside down when his TV celebrity girlfriend, Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell), dumps him for a tragically hip rock star. It’s the hysterically funny look at how far one man will go to forget a girl – and all the fun he finds along the way!』
『Breaking up is hard to do--but that doesn't mean you can't have some belly laughs about it.Forgetting Sarah Marshallprovides that rare treat: a romantic comedy about breakups, that is both romantic and funny. The laughs, especially from writer-star Jason Segel, are both heartfelt and raunchy, and the film is just unexpected enough that it keeps the viewer's attention till the end. The touches of producer Judd Apatow, who's famously retooled rom-coms to appeal to guys as much as women, are woven throughout the film, but Segel's script, reportedly based on many of his own experiences, is fresh and original. And adult.Forgetting Sarah Marshallfeatures male genitalia laffs presented in unexpected and human ways (the nude breakup scene is played for giggles but also deep poignancy), and the language and sex scenes are strictly for grownups--and rightly so. Segel's script, and his performance as Peter, show that he understands the true nature of adult relationships, which provides the refreshing difference between this film and some of Apatow's other crude creations. The cast is sublime; Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) plays title character Sarah, a self-absorbed actress, and Russell Brand is her new British honey who accompanies her to--what are the chances?--the exact same Hawaiian resort as Peter, who's nursing his broken heart. Mila Kunis plays Rachel, the resort employee who gives Peter a reason to hope, and Paul Rudd is the surfing instructor who gives him his own brand of heartfelt advice ("When life gives you lemons, just say 'F--- the lemons' and bail," he says cheerily). The pacing is screwball, and the absurdities fly (a "Dracula" musical puppet show, and a surprisingly lovely Hawaiian version of "Nothing Compares 2 U"). Nothing the viewer will forget any time soon.--A.T. Hurley

(Brilliant news to musical lovers)
『I just could not believe after all these years, a DVD of Goodbye Mr. Chips is going to be released. Ever since i watched the movie back in 1969 in Hong Kong, the movie and the songs were in my minds always. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend a boarding school two years later and experienced the life of boarding school. The two songs of "You and I" and "Walk through the world with me" are just pure magic and i wish the music producers could give much more credits to these two songs. I certainly would recommend to old and new lovers to have these two songs downloaded in their MP3 and listen to these two songs while walking down the river Thames in the evening with your beloved one! I am sure you will never forget this experience. Remember to choose the bridge with the blue neon lights too!
Beautiful movie and singing by Petula Clark. You are absolutely magic.

(ONE OF MY FAVORITES)
『Ive been waiting such a long time for this movie to come out on dvd. It wasn't the best musical but I found it very entertaining and Peter o"Toole is especially wonderful as always. Petula Clark is fine and touching and love her singing.』

(Goodbye, Mr. Chips with Peter O'Toole)
『This is a most wonderful, musical remake of the original 1939 film. Peter O'Toole and Petula Clark are superb and give most touching performances. Why is this movie not available on DVD? So many inferior films on DVD from this period and other eras are available and I can't help wonder how such a beautiful film as this be overlooked?』

(Wonderful)
『That this is not available in DVD is incomprehensible. Who still has a VHS??? The last time I saw this I cryed, grown up man that I am and was ,next to my date at a retro movie house. "A" performances by all, music is a embellishment to the story, not a distraction. and makes you wish Petulia Clark made more movies, sad I can't see it again till they make the DVD....』

(This needs to be on DVD NOW)
『This movie definitely needs to be on DVD. Considering what junk is being put out on DVD, it is a shame that one with the music and a story line like this hasn't been done. It doesn't cost that much to put it on DVD, so just do it and let all of us buy it and enjoy the movie and music!』
『Robert Donat won an Oscar for his portrayal of the humble British don in the 1939 filmGoodbye, Mr. Chips--and Peter O'Toole was nominated for his version of the role in this lackluster musical (he, along with Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight ofMidnight Cowboy, lost to John Wayne inTrue Grit). O'Toole is affecting as the shy English schoolteacher at a private boys' school who is brought out of his shell by the love of a good woman, then goes on to become a teaching legend after her tragic death. But the idea of turning this touching tale into a musical (with totally forgettable songs by John Williams and Leslie Bricusse) was almost as wrong-headed as having O'Toole do his own singing--or as casting singer Petula Clark as his wife.--Marshall Fine
