『I've been watching Charlie Brown holiday shows for over 30 years and it wouldn't be the holidays without them. I bought these three movies for some new "little" friends who haven't seen them. They love them.』

(Great collection!)
『This is truly a nice collection of classics. What makes it even better is that the package includes a few downloadable songs that are available for pick up at the iTunes store.

(Drama with ALL the Trauma)
『I missed the whole first season. Must have been in a cave. Then I watched a couple episodes of the second season and was HOOKED!!. My neighbor filled me in on a few things from last season, but that was not enough, so I bought this. I watched all four discs in just two days. How is that for obsessive??!!! Now I've preordered season two, but I digress. Talk about people with issues, everyone in this show has something to hide, just like the sixties, they never tell what's really on their minds until it is too late. Can't wait for season three.』

(Mad Men Season One)
『We began watching Mad Men during the second season, and found a lot of "holes" - things we could not understand. Watching the first season's shows cleared up nearly all of our confusion. Having lived as a young "business man" in the 50s and early 60s I could see a lot of my "friends" in Mad Men (perhaps exagerated a bit - but maybe ONLY a bit). On the whole, Mad Men, season one, was well worth the price.』

(Well Done)
『Excellent character development, but a bit of a downer with the protagonist being an unhappy man.』

(DVDs have wonderful commentaries and extras)
『Mad Men is an absolute masterpiece. I agree 200% with all the rave reviews here.

I'm not going to add to the ample reviews of this show. Instead, I would like to comment on the generous extras included in the DVD set.

I debated a long time before buying the DVDs since I own the season on iTunes. I'm glad I bought the DVDs -- the commentaries and extras make it worth every penny.

Each episode has at least one commentary track, usually two separate commentary tracks. And there are other extras - a 20-minute piece, "Advertising the American Dream", a 10-minute video on scoring Mad Men, and the hour-long 'Establishing Mad Men'--all excellent.

A word about the commentaries -- the ones by creator and writer Matt Weiner are superb, very insightful and interesting. I haven't listened to all the other commentaries yet. Of the ones I have listened to, Weiner's are definitely the best, Vincent Kartheiser, January Jones, and Jon Hamm also provide interesting depth. The brilliant costume designer Janie Bryant also provides wonderful commentary.

I wish some of the other commentaries had been edited, though. For instance, in Jon Hamm's, January Jones', and Elizabeth Moss' commentary on the last episode, 'The Wheel', Elizabeth Moss' comments on the padding used to show her weight gain. This is an interesting aside, but Moss' commentary goes on far too long and it's all trivial, with no insights into Peggy's character. She repeats the same stories again and again--for well over 10 minutes. Her commentary drones through an important part of the Draper story (Don looking at old photos of his brother). It's a shame that we miss Hamm's commentary during that emotionally moving portion of the episode.

But that's my only criticism, one small quibble. The DVD set is marvelous and if you're a Mad Men fan it will add substantially to your enjoyment and insight into the show.

(Where's the Beef?)
『I was really looking forward to this series after reading the rave reviews but I have to say I was disappointed by this tepid view of the heyday of advertising. The series certainly scores high style marks but substance is woefully lacking in this rather narcissistic view of 1960 Madison Avenue. Once past the good looks, crisp lines and jaunty banter, I found myself wondering "where's the beef?" The directors seem to revel in this decidedly man's world where women seem little more than muses, except for Peggy Olsen who finds herself quickly rising up the ladder with her honest view of products.

The firm of Sterling&Cooper comes across as a sexist bastion during a time when many women were breaking through such barriers. You get the sense that Peggy is a younger version of Helen Gurley Brown who had worked herself up from the mailroom of the William Morris Agency to become one of the highest paid ad copywriters of the early 60s, eventually taking over Cosmopolitan and turning it into the magazine we know today. Sexism was pervasive at the time, but this show seems to revel in it, with little sense of irony.

The episodes are painfully slow and Don Draper is painfully boring. It takes 12 excrutiating episodes to find out about his hidden past, which in the end doesn't appear to make the slightest impact on the story as Cooper dismisses Peter Campbell's revelatory scene out of hand. Seems Don Draper can do no wrong, although he appears to have an increasingly hard time at home as his lovely wife Betty comes apart at the seams like Sylvia Plath in the Bell Jar.

After 12 episodes, I feel like I've had enough, although fans of this series keep telling me how things pick up in season two. Maybe so, but the first season didn't do much for me.』

(Dexter)
『I watched the first season on network TV and was addicted. I didn't think the second season could be as good, but it was. Maybe even better. This show is certainly different, and very entertaining. I could not stop watching.』

(as good as the first season)
『With the way the debut season ended, you might think that they people in charge couldn't come up with anything to top that. But they do and in spades too whether it's Dexter's "alleged drug addiction", the sponsor that is supposed to be helping him said addiction. But she really has MANY issues going on with her which will made clear through the season. I will just say the woman gives Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction) a good name. Also Dexter is having issues with his girlfriend and a prolonged stay by her mother (JoBeth Williams) only conpounds the problems between them.

Also one of his coworkers is on to him and late night murderous dealings and basically lets him know it every occasion whether by stalking him or just being the all around jerk that Doakes is throughout the show. Along Lt. LaGuerta who's lost her job and is undercover (literally) trying to get it back by any means necessary. Dex's sister Deb is having her own issues still reeling from her having the Ice Truck Killer as her steady boyfriend. She finally finds someone and starts second guessing things and all that. Another player comes in as well from the FBI, Agent Lundy who's task is to be bring in the new serial killer that no one knows is right under their noses.

There are so many things going on in this season that its hard to believe that everything will get resolved but just look out for the last 2 or 3 episodes of this season to see how it does just that. I won't say anymore other than, if your thinking about getting into the show start off at Season 1 and believe me. By the time you get the second season of this show. You will know others already know about Dexter. It's a well done show, with an excellent cast and storylines as well.

I can't wait until season 3 rolls around on dvd.』

(Dexter - Your friendly next door serial killer)
『Although season two is not as good as season one, Dexter remains my favorite. Still abiding his "code" (Don't kill anyone who doesn't REALLY deserve it), Dexter is now learning that he has feelings after all.

Dexter lives what many of us barely dare to dream, avenge the victims of killers by showing them what they did and then taking the same thing they had taken from their victims before: Their lives.

And he still remains a friendly, sympathetic guy, all the way.

Just... SLAMMIN'!』

(Skip)
『Sent an e-mail to the seller, but no response. DVD is weird, hard to get to 'menu' to select chapter. On almost every show, often more than once, it skips or freezes. Only DVD I have this problem with.』

(Better and Better)
『This Season is even better than the first. It gets much deeper in the peoples mind. Really Awesome』
『Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 08/19/2008 Run time: 636 minutes Rating: Nr』
『Dark and sinister is the new sexy, thanks toDexter, which in its second season has proven to be the most successful series Showtime has offered up yet. Remember how much you squirmed in your seat during the season one finale? Believe it or not, the premiere of season two felt like it could have been a season finale--because jaws were on the floor when the credits rolled. For being a supposed sociopath, Dex is pretty broken up about the gruesome events that concluded last season. The one and only person who could possibly understand him is six feet under, and it seems our unlikely hero is losing his homicidal grip. He’s even having a little trouble slicing up a few of his latest victims (from a murderous gang member to a chainsaw-wielding fiend from his past). Enter Lila (Jaime Murray,Hustle), a lady with a sweet British accent and a few dark secrets of her own. She seems to accept Dex for who he really is, and he finds himself feeling relaxed for the first time in his life. In contrast, his relationship with his girlfriend Rita (Julie Benz) has been stretched almost to a breaking point. The problem is, he should be anything but relaxed. Someone picked a poor place to go scuba diving off the Florida coast, and came across an underwater graveyard: Dex’s primo spot for dropping dismembered bodies wrapped in heavy-duty trash bags. Word about the "Bay Harbor Butcher" gets out quick, and the F.B.I. sends the best of the best, Special Agent Frank Lundy (Keith Carradine,Deadwood) to work alongside the police to sniff out Miami’s latest serial killer. This guy is no schlub, and Dex may have met his match. And, yes, Dexter gets to work with Lundy on a daily basis, which provides some wonderfully awkward moments. It certainly doesn’t help that the intuitively paranoid Sergeant Doakes (Erik King,Oz) is hot on Dex’s trail.

Season two ofDexteris all about decisions. Lila or Rita? Old code or new code? Run or fight? Right or wrong? Well, one thing’s for sure: When it comes to writing, casting, acting, and production, the makers of this show made all the right decisions. Michael C. Hall is simply superb as the title character. You’ll never find yourself more willing to genuinely root for a serial killer. It’s bloody liberating. --Jordan Thompson

(Quite possibly the best season of Who *EVER*)
『I've been following Doctor Who for a long time. I wasn't able to do so actually FROM the beginning (I was only about 2 when it started!), but public TV in my area aired a lot of it. My favorite Doctor has always been a tie between Tom Baker's crazy-like-a-fox and the elegant gentleman of Jon Pertwee's reign.

But David Tennant has moved right up there with them. His portrayal -- quite consciously incorporating aspects of several of his predecessors -- is filled with a manic energy while still radiating an essential humanity-within. Even in his first season (the second season of the "modern" Doctor Who) he grabbed the role and made it his own; by now he has fully grown into the role, and it has become his.

This season has many wonderful aspects to it -- so many that I don't think I could do them all justice. However, one that stands out is the creation of Donna Noble as one of his greatest Companions. Donna, originally seen in the "Runaway Bride" Christmas Special, has been completely transformed from the narrow-minded, self-centered, usually clueless character she was when the Doctor first met her. Now -- though still brash, sometimes tactless, and just as loud -- she searches through London for the strange, the bizarre, the alien, because after meeting the Doctor, she simply can't go back to her humdrum world.

Instead she joins the Doctor in his travels, and becomes -- not a lover (or would-be lover, as was poor Martha) -- but the Best Friend that the Doctor really needs, someone who loves the adventures, who even after being put through hell and dragged back won't give up on the life she has found with the last of the Timelords, who has an indomitable spirit and unbreakable will and a courage you simply would not have BELIEVED in the Donna Noble we first met.

While there are a few weak episodes in this season, the strong points more than make up for it -- none stronger than the grand finale, featuring one of the Doctor's greatest adversaries in his most glorious appearance yet, grandeur and apocalypse and tragedy and victory all at once.

I am very saddened by the news that (apparently) David Tennant will be leaving Doctor Who after the next season; but he will have left his mark indelibly on the franchise, and whoever takes up the mantle will have one hell of a pair of boots to step into.』

(Time continues to be on the Doctor's side with the fourth series of "Doctor Who")
『Time is the Doctor's enemy in the Children in Need special "Time Crash" where the 10th Doctor (David Tennat) meets himself in his Fifth incarnation (Peter Davison)as the TARDIS from their respective eras collide. That's just the tip of the iceberg so to speak as we also get to voyage on the Titanic a spacecraft named after Earth's luxury liner (although the designers of the spacecraft clearly had no clue as to what really happened to the REAL Titanic)and the Doctor has to stop the ship from being destroyed in the 2007 Christmas Special featuring Kylie Minogue. The Doctor also gets a new companion is an old one--Donna (Catherine Tate) returns after her brief tenure with the Doctor from the previous year.

The 4th series of "Doctor Who" continued to introduce challenging stories such as the two part episode "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead" where the Doctor meets someone from HIS future that he hasn't met yet and while there were a few weak ones in the mix, the best episodes from the fourth series more than held up when compared to previous ones. While I like Russell T. Davies' scripts, I still find the best ones are usually penned by his successor as producer Stephen Moffat.

As with previous sets we get edited versions of "Doctor Who: Confidential", deleted scenes, commentary tracks with a variety of cast/crew on each episode. We also get two installments of "David Tennant's Video Diary" and a nice tribute to the late actor William Attfield who originally appeared as Donna's grandfather but passed away after the shooting of "Partners in Crime". His scenes were reshot with Bernard Crippins but we get Attfield's deleted scenes as a tribute to the actor. "The Journey So Far" allows cast and crew to comment on the fourth season and some of their favorite moments and we also get the episode teasers, teasers for "Torchwood: Series 2", "Priveal" and "The Sarah Jane Adventures". As with the previous seasons we get a booklet that gives us credits/extras for each episode. The show looks extremely good in its DVD presentation.

I personally though this was a better seaosn than the third and thought Catherine Tate was a nice contrast to the previous performers on the show. I also applaud Davies to cast a full figured woman vs. a skinny model for the part of the companion during the fourth season. Highly recommended.』

(Are you my mummy?)
『Ood, Daleks, Sontarans, oh my! The Doctor Who, season four, with David as the Doctor is one of the best. These episodes are wonderful, funny, filled with action and drama. Many of the lines, jokes, and themes cross time and space, their source coming from older episodes, some from the 70s and others from just a few years ago. Older Doctor Who fans will laugh and new fans will want to collect the older DVDs to see what the joke is about.
Tons of extras, such as David's video diaries, deleted scenes, audio commentary and the Children in Need Special, Time Crash. Donna Noble is such a great character, a true mate, somebody who can keep the Doctor on track and honest. When not yelling at him. The last few episodes are wonderful, but I really wish Davros was not in it. Loved the fat!

(Same great series.....)
『I'll admit, I was NEVER a fan of the original Dr Who series. I thought it had some great ideas, but such poor production value (and horrible acting) that it was hard to sit through. What I love about this new show is how Russell Davies haw been able to keep the same great ideas from the original (as to please old fans) and push the special effects through the roof (to make it MUCH more watchable for the casual viewer like myself)! Oh sure it's got it's silly moments...okay sometimes VERY silly moments but I think that was done to make it more accessible to younger viewers and they never seem to get in the way of the great story telling.

Also what's terrific is the casting choices. David Tennant makes the Doctor character classic from his first episode (I'd go out on a limb and say it's like Harrison Ford and Indiana Jones!), and every companion is instantly likeable.

Now, after three seasons of greatness comes this fourth season. If you're a Dr Who fan, purchasing this DVD is a MUST. It again has everything that makes the series great and seems to add some more physical action this time around. If you havent seen the show yet, obviously you have to start with season one (2005).

As I said before this season has the same great elements as the previousa ones (and I love Catherine Tate as the Doctor's new companion), but I have to admit things seemed a bit more typical and by the book this time around. This isn't neccessarily a bad thing, but after the last three seasons, each topping the one before it, I thought the season just felt a bit more redundant. It just didn't WOW me like it did in the previous season (though they did set the bar pretty high). Again, I don't think this is a bad thing at all, just same old great story-telling.

Again, if you're a Dr Who fan: buy it (while the price is still low on Amazon), if your new to the series: start with season one. It's not to be missed!』

(Brillant!)
『What a brilliant series!!! Catherine Tate is wonderful and David Tennant continues his reign as my favorite Doctor. They (and Russell T. Davies) will be sorely missed.』

(Be prepared to be scared off your feet!)
『I played this blu-ray on my surround sound system and it literally frightens anyone that is calmly seeing the scenes and all of sudden...the HULK appears. The quality of picture and the audio is fantastic! Even for those that hate comic book based movies, it's a must see!』

(Which Actors/Actresses Ruined the Movie)
『This version of the Incredible Hulk had the potential to be a really good movie. I found the final fight scene to be epic. It was everything it should've been. But I didn't rate this movie over four stars based on the fact that Liv Tyler&William Hurt killed the movie with their bad overracting. I'm not speaking about their acting skills overall based on a long term basis. In this movie that should have cast someone else to do the parts because i got so sick of seeing Liv's character crying all the time or jumping in the way. She reminded me of the classic termed "stupid white girl" in all the horror flicks. The one who goes to investigate all the noises and goes into the creepy houses. And you wonder why you get killed. But I digress from my point if you want to skip through their acting and focus more on the action, then it's bound to be a better movie. It just seems like the only two good actors in the whole movie were edward norton and tim roth, even mr.blue's character reminded me of a prepubescent boy who's just touched his first boobie in reference to his blantant overexcitement at meeting "bruce banner". I'm liked your supposed to be an intelligient scientist not a 10yr old girl meeting Miley Cyrus for the first time.』

(The Incredible Hulk)
『After seeing both Hulk movies I do prefer this newer one to the earlier offering. The actor portraying the Hulk (Norton) I feel fits the role much better. Norton has an intensity that the former actor (Bana) lacked. I'm also glad that this movie did away with the divided screen comic book style which the earlier film relied heavily on. Liv Tyler is every bit as good in the role of the former love of the Hulk's as Connelly was in the earlier film. I'm also relieved that the storyline doesn't include one similar to the Nolte/ Bana in the former film. Every time Nolte was on the screen I felt he took the film in a strange direction and sucked the air right out of it. It brought the whole movie down with it. One thing that this film does do is that it doesn't replace the former film in that the storyline picks up where the other Hulk left off. Anyone who enjoyed the 1st film will like that aspect. This movie I can stand to watch again several more times.

(MARVEL STUDIOS HITS 2 FOR 2 WITH "THE INCREDIBLE HULK!" (Some Spoilers))
『Marvel Studios followed their exceptional "Iron Man" with "The Incredible Hulk," another terrific comic book adaptation. Dispensing with the overall seriousness of the previous film, the Ang Lee-directed "The Hulk," this film returns to the storyline as seen in the 1978 television show. In fact, one of the film's pluses is that it brings elements from the show into the film, such as Lou Ferrigno, who lends his voice to the Hulk, as well as a cameo appearance as a security guard; and the TV theme makes a welcomed return.
While not as good as "Iron Man," this is a terrific film that features some awesome action sequences, terrific visual effects and fine storytelling. The performances are good as well. Edward Norton is great as Bruce Banner, bringing the character elements that Bill Bixby made famous, while also adding some great little character nuances, while not making the character too dark or depressing, such as Tobey McGuire did in the overrated "Spider-man" films. The beautiful and talented Liv Tyler provides some smarts and sexyness as Banner's love interest, while William Hurt and Tim Roth give menacing performances as Banner's villainous rivals. And a welcomed cameo by Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark is not only memorable, but also continues the march toward "The Avengers" in 2011.
With "The Incredible Hulk," Marvel Studios has made two well-done superhero films. If you enjoyed the original TV series or the comic books, then you'll surely enjoy "The Incredible Hulk!"
Movie/DVD Grade: A』

(THE INCREDIBLE HULK)
『AWESOME MOVIE. EDWARD NORTON AND LIV TYLER ARE SO GOOD PLAYING THEIR CHARACTERS AND THE MOVIE HAS ALOT OF ACTION AND A GOOD STORYLINE. i REALLY ENJOYED WATCHING IT.』
『The Incredible Hulk (2008) kicks off an all-new, explosive and action-packed epic of one of the most popular Super Heroes of all time. In this new beginning, scientist Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) desperately hunts for a cure to the gamma radiation that poisoned his cells and unleashes the unbridled force of rage within him: The Hulk. Living in the shadows - cut off from a life he knew and the woman he loves, Betty Ross (Liv Tyler) - Banner struggles to avoid the obsessive pursuit of his nemesis, General Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt), and the military machinery that seeks to capture him and brutally exploit his power.』
『A more accessible and less heavy-handed movie than Ang Lee's 2003HulkLouis Leterrier'sThe Incredible Hulkis a purely popcorn love affair with Marvel's raging, green superhero, as well as the old television series starring Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the beast within him. Edward Norton takes up where Eric Bana left off in Lee's version, playing Bruce (that's the character's original name) Banner, a haunted scientist always on the move. Trying to eliminate the effects of a military experiment that turns him into the Hulk whenever his emotions get the better of him, Banner is hiding out in Brazil at the film's beginning. Working in a bottling plant and communicating via email with an unidentified professor who thinks he can help, Banner goes postal when General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and a small army turn up to grab him. Intent on developing whatever causes Banner's metamorphoses into a weapon, Ross brings along a quietly deranged soldier named Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth), who wants Ross to turn him into a supersoldier who can take on the Hulk. The adventure spreads to the U.S., where Banner hooks up with his old lover (and Ross' daughter), Betty (Liv Tyler), and where the Hulk takes on several armed assaults, including one in a pretty unusual location: a college campus. The film's action is impressive, though the computer-generated creature is disappointingly cartoonish, and a second monster turning up late in the movie looks even cheesier. Norton is largely wasted in the film--he's essentially a bridge between sequences where he disappears and the Hulk rampages around. As good an actor as he is, Norton doesn't have the charisma here to carry those scenes in which one waits impatiently for the real show to begin. --Tom Keogh

One minor complaint though, one of the pages of the booklet had a tear in it, straight out of the packaging. That was really disappointing, but other than that, all smiles:)』

『I bought this collection as a gift for my girlfriend. I personally can't stand the show, but she loves it. As an item, it's a very good set. Good packaging, lots of extra features, overall a great product.』

(TERRIFIC!!!)
『I bought Sex and the City-The Complete Series for my daughter because I loved watching it when it first was on HBO. She had been watching the toned-down version on cable and was enjoying it so much. So now when she finishes a DVD she gives it to me and I am loving it as much (if not more) as the first time I saw it!

It comes packaged so nicely, I received it promptly and I am 100% satisfied! This is a must-have for anyone who also enjoyed the movie as much as we did!

Sex and the Cityis based on Candace Bushnell's provocative bestselling book. Sarah Jessica Parker stars as Carrie Bradshaw, a self-described "sexual anthropologist," who writes "Sex and the City," a newspaper column that chronicles the state of sexual affairs of Manhattanites in this "age of un-innocence." Her "posse," including nice girl Charlotte (Kristin Davis), hard-edged Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and party girl Samantha (Kim Cattrall)--not to mention her own tumultuous love life--gives Carrie plenty of column fodder. Over the course of the first season's 12 episodes, the most prominent dramatic arc concerns Carrie, who goes from turning the tables on "toxic bachelors" by having "sex like a man" to wanting to join the ranks of "the monogamists" with the elusive Mr. Big (Chris Noth). Meanwhile, Miranda, Cynthia, and Samantha have their own dating woes.

The second season builds on the foundation of the first season with plot arcs that are both hilarious and heartfelt, taking the show from breakout hit to true pop-culture phenomenon. Relationship epiphanies coexist happily alongside farcical plots and zingy one-liners, resulting in emotionally satisfying episodes that feature the sharp kind of character-defining dialogue that seems to have disappeared from the rest of TV long ago. When last we left the NYC gals, Carrie had just broken up with a commitment-phobic Mr. Big (Chris Noth), but fans of Noth's seductive-yet-distant rake didn't have to wait long until he was back in the picture, as he and Carrie tried to make another go of it. Their relationship evolution, from reunion to second breakup, provides the core of the second season. Among other adventures, Charlotte puzzles over whether one of her beaus was "gay-straight" or "straight-gay"; Miranda tries to date a guy who insists on having sex only in places where they might get caught; and Samantha copes with dates who range from, um, not big enough tofartoo big--with numerous stops in between.

The third season was the charm, as the series earned its first Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series to go along with its Golden Globes for Best Comedy Series and Best Actress (Parker). One of this season's two principal story arcs concerned hapless-in-love Charlotte and her pursuit of a husband; enter (if only...) Kyle McLachlan as the unfortunately impotent Trey. Meanwhile, Carrie has a brief but memorable fling with a politician who's golden, but not in the way she anticipated. She then sabotages her too-good-to-be-true relationship with furniture designer Aidan (John Corbett) by having an affair with Mr. Big (Chris Noth), who himself has gotten married. LikeI Love Lucy, the series benefited from a brief change of scenery with a three-episode jaunt to Los Angeles, where Carrie and company encountered, among others, Matthew McConaughey, Vince Vaughn, Hugh Hefner, and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The fourth season is just as smart and sexy as ever, mixing caustic adult wit and sharply observed situation comedy on the mean streets of Manhattan, though this time the quartet of singleton city girls must endure even tougher combat in the unending war of love, sex, and shopping. Carrie finally seems to have found her ideal life partner when she is reunited with handsome craftsman Aidan. But can their relationship survive trial by cohabitation? Meanwhile Charlotte seems to have both her dream Park Avenue apartment and a solution to her marital problems with Trey. But when the subject of babies comes up, everything starts to unravel for her, too. It's not just Charlotte who has baby issues either: after what seems like an eternity of enforced sexual abstinence Miranda is horrified to discover she's pregnant. And as for the sultry Samantha, she's on a quest for monogamy, first with an exotic lesbian artist, then with a philandering businessman, with whom to her utter dismay she just might have fallen in love.

It was a short but sweet fifth season, as HBO's resident comediennes found themselves affected by forces beyond their control--the pregnancies of both Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon. A truncated shooting schedule to accommodate the actresses forced this season to be reduced to a mere eight episodes, but they and creators forged ahead, creating a handful of episodes that if short in content were long on emotion and laughs. Carrie and Miranda wrestled with their solitary lifestyles, albeit with new attachments--Miranda had new baby Brady and single motherhood, while Carrie found herself in the world of publishing as the author of a real-life book of her columns. Charlotte wondered if she'd ever find another man, while Samantha finally got rid of the one that had been vexing her far too much. If the season as a whole felt less than the sum of its parts, those parts were some of the best comedy in the show's history. The season's climactic episode, "I Love a Charade," was one of the series' best episodes ever, equally touching and funny, and grounded the show in an emotional maturity that announced that after all their wild travails, these women had truly grown up.

After a long wait--like the entire fifth season--Carrie is dating again. The sixth season starts with Carrie and her sparkly new potential, Berger (Ron Livingston), trying to leave past relationships and hit it off, with mixed results. Meanwhile Carrie's friends seem to be settling down, relatively speaking. Miranda decides that her affair with TiVo cannot compete when Mr. Perfect (Blair Underwood, at his most charming) moves into her building. Charlotte's feelings for her "opposites attract" boyfriend (Evan Handler) deepen, but they still have a few things to iron out. Most surprising is Samantha's hot relationship with waiter-actor-stud Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis) taking on something resembling love, despite Samantha's best intentions. Before the sixth season started in the summer of 2003, a bombshell hit: it was announced that this would be the finale. But it would be a long season, and these 12 episodes plant the seeds for the final 8 airing the following winter. These dozen episodes illustrate the maturity of the show: there's not a bad one in the bunch, and the show is still flat-out funny. The comedy blends serious points of how we perceive singles, couples, and parents (and the gifts we lavish on the latter two). Carrie's method of celebrating her singlehood is just another gem in this treasure of a series.

With the last eight episodes of the sixth season, HBO's grand sitcom concluded, leaving untold numbers of women--and many men--feeling deprived. The six-year series certainly did not outlast its welcome; the final season is some of the best TV had to offer in 2004. In many ways, the eight episodes served as a single finale, with all four characters approaching a kind of destiny and happiness, the theme of this last half-season (which aired weeks after the first half). Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) continues her romance with Russian artist (Mikhail Baryshnikov), a flippantly arrogant man who's been around the block, but able to supply Carrie's needed desire for magic. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) has settled down with Steve (David Eigenberg), but there is more that will change with her, including her address. Charlotte (Kristin Davis) continues to make baby plans now that the husband slot is filled quite nicely (Evan Handler). Going down the final stretch--and Samantha's (Kim Cattrall) cancer--gives the series a more serious tone, but there's always a jab to tickle the funny bone: Miranda's awkwardness with happiness, Charlotte's latest passion, Carrie typing someplace new, and Samantha getting into Paris Hilton territory. Like any series winding down, there is a wedding, a baby, old faces popping up, and some star-ladened new ones. In the final two-part episode, "An American in Paris," Carrie faces her romantic destiny, but also solidifies herself as a fashion icon, an Audrey Hepburn for 21st-century television. In the penultimate episode, she asks her friends an emotional question: "What if I never met you?" Certainly fans can ask of themselves the same question and reminisce how much better TV became since they first tuned in these four women of the City.』

(A great movie an adventure!)
『I loved this movie it is every bit as good as the first if not better. A great adventure. a must see!』

(National Treasure II. Were they serious?)
『This movie combined with the bad scrip writing, the overacting and the repeated plot makes it a more of a torture device than a 'family fun' action drama. Most of the jokes aren't funny and the suspenseful parts are dull, drawn out and listless.』

(Nothing special)
『I enjoyed "National Treasure 1" far more than I thought I would. That is a fun movie that manages to get you to suspend your disbelief and go along for the ride on the strength of sheer goofy energy, fast pacing, and fun. I'll buy into almost anything for 2 hours as long as you keep it moving, keep it fun, and keep it interesting.

"National Treasure 2" unfortunately bogs down under all of its weight. The plot bears the disjointed, cobbled-together hallmarks of any script burdened with three (count 'em, three!) different sets of writers on story alone. (It makes you wonder how many script doctors took a whack at it as well.) As a result, you never really know what this movie is about. Is it a romantic adventure? A Civil War story like National Treasure? A Spanish Colonial story? A story about a Blackwater-type CEO who is a mercenary treasure hunter manipulating Cage? A story about Cage's parents? The script doesn't know, and neither do we. As a result, we never really get things moving in a clear manner, which pulls you out of the movie and makes you start trying to figure out what's going on. (Finding the lost city of gold clears a guy of conspiring to kill Lincoln how, then?)

On the plus side, all of the actors are fantastic. How could you go wrong with Nicholas Cage (channeling the early, enjoyable phase of his career), Harvey Keitel, Ed Harris, Jon Voight and Helen Mirren? Ed Harris did great with what he had to work with. It would have been a better film if it had been more about Harris and Cage trying to outwit each other, if only because Harris would have had more screen time and a more clearly defined character.

This is worth a rent if you liked "National Treasure" or like action movies. It's nothing special; it won't be a personal favorite; you may well forget all about it a week later. But it won't make you throw your shoes at the TV, and sometimes that's enough.』

(Formula, formula, formula)
『Sometimes you can forgive, even appreciate, when Hollywood offers up a formulaic story that offers few surprises. This film isn't one of those instances. Pedantically predictable.』

(A Fun Ride!)
『I absolutely loved the first movie, National Treasure, and couldn't wait to see the sequel. Now the first film is probably a better movie overall, but the second film is very enjoyable and has more action to it than the first. I think most people really enjoy seeing how Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage)can get into and out of severly restricted and off-limits places to check clues without getting caught, such looking into the Queen's desk at Buckingham Palace. All the original actors are back in this film from the first, giving it some continuity, and some new charactors make apperances here, notably Helen Mirren as Ben's language professor mom, Emily. The thrills and chills come fast and furious here, and overall the film is good clean family fun. I'm hold
