(Anything With Ross Hagen And Robbie The Robot Will Be Excellent, I'm Sure...)
『This is a cheapie starring legendary B-movie icon Ross Hagen as a master spelunker, scream queen Michelle Bauer as a "cave bunny," and Sybil Danning as an alien queen. The plot is almost unbearably silly: some explorers and scientists go on a trek to the center of the Earth, where they discover a land of luscious prehistoric cave bunnies who can't speak a word, but who have crafted rather nice bikinis for themselves. The cave bunnies are entangled with a group of underground mutant cannibals (I never knew that when you roasted a live human female on a spit that you left her swimsuit on, removing only the jeans...) and the three parties spend the first half of the film chasing each other around the caves until a laser-wielding Robbie the Robot turns up to try to stop the fight, though he is defeated by the makeup mirror in a woman's compact. (Really. Don't ask.)

Eventually the explorers plus cave bunny Bauer emerge from the cave in (of course) a land that time forgot featuring an evil, but busty alien queen, Sybil Danning, in the most ludicrous vehicle I have seen in a long time. From then on there is a three way struggle featuring the explorers, the Queen and her minions, and stop motion dinosaurs clearly lifted from another movie (I believe they are from the same source as was seen in the altogether more entertaining "Galaxy of the Dinosaurs.") They chase each other around the desert, wrestle, and encounter a volcano (more stock footage) before ultimately carjacking the Queen's vehicle, blowing it up in a cave, and finding themselves free on the other side of the cave with millions worth of diamonds they discovered in the desert. Confused? You will be.

This is essentially low-budget monster movie mayhem, and as such is camp of the highest order. It is stupid, but cheesily fun. I recommend it only to people who like campy, trashy mindlessly silly pictures starring yesterday's favorites from the B-movie circuit. The DVD has several extras including a commentary, and a sometimes (though mostly not) amusing introduction from Director Fred Olen Ray; this is part of his "Nite Owl Theater" series, which I hope he continues in the same spirit of Joe Bob Briggs. The drive in will live forever!』

(What more could you want?)
『This movie has everything: lost underground "civilisations", cave mutants, bikini clad cave bunnies, Barbeque Girl, Robbie the Robot (back after all these years with a new head and available for rent, cheap), dinosaurs, a spaceship, topless catfighting, swordplay, laserbolts, stock footage of a volcano and Sybil Danning bounding about in, and almost out of, very tight leather. It just keeps rollicking along.

Who cares if it doesn't have a believable plot, a good script or decent acting? If you want a decent laugh listen to the director's commentary and the interviews. Shot in about six days on virturally no budget, nobody took this seriously, and neither should you.

The eye-candy keeps improving as the movie progresses, too. Somebody in Hollywood must have made a fortune making bikinis for movies like this. And Sybil Danning, almost busting out, bounds gleefully around the set, swinging a sword, glowering imperiously down her nose and trying not to laugh as she delivers her lines. Sybil, the Mistress of the Master Race (she is Austrian) plays the Alien Queen. (In this one they didn't let her carry a whip, but at the bequest of the other women on the set she punched out the leading actor.) She is tall, athletic, gorgeous and sexy, which makes her one of my favourite actresses. Who cares if she didn't have to act? I've seen her act in other movies, but in this one, she just doesn't have to.

If you want a movie with reasonable T&A, a fast pace, a bit of a laugh and which requires no use of the grey matter at all, I recommend this. If you want a good movie, forget it.』

(Horrible!!!!!!!!)
『I have no idea how anyone could give this horrible waste a rating better than 1 star. 1 star in generous for this movie, but they don't allow less. The best way I found to describe this movie is a digital romance novel. If you actually enjoy romance novels, you might.... might actually like this thing. Otherwise stay far away!!!』

(Why bother???)
『I'll never understand how some films get made. This film is a fine example why certain films should never get produced. The concept in and of itself (Vikings meet Beauty and the Beast) is decently conceived and had potential. However, the only real thing this film had going for it is the Nordic theme. But this movie was hamfistedly produced, uninspired costumes and sets, boring filmscore, terrible acting, and more. Word of advice to all aspiring filmmakers. If you don't have the material to make a good movie, don't make it!!!』

(Blood of Beasts)
『This DVD was a serious D rated movie. If I buy or go to the theatre I will watch the movie all the way through no matter what. I made it through the thirty minutes before I could not take it anymore. If you like real cheesy and bad movies this is the one for you. WaltBlood of Beasts』

(For Some Odd Reason It's Great)
『It looks like this movie was made on a $50 budget but for some reason it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The acting isn't the best and the scenery is very cheap, but I love this movie. I don't know if it's the plot or what sucks me in, but this movie just captured me and I can't get enough of it.』

(Not too bad until the end)
『I love Beauty and the Beast, but I think I'll stick with Disney from now on. The idea for this wasn't bad. I was enjoying it, really, despite the not so great acting and my doubts about historical truths, until the end. If I ever do pop this DVD in again I'm so skipping the last two minutes! It made my last 1hr and 20 some minutes pointless.』
『In the tradition of Lord of the Rings come this medieval tale with plenty of action and adventure, starring Jane March (Color of Night). Freya is the beautiful daughter of King Thorsson, who must undertake a deadly battle when her father and fiancé are captured by a tormented monster - a man with the body of a beast, cursed by his God and cast out by his people. (Finally on DVD, Streisand's Prodigious Labor of Love Still Holds Up Due to Her Heartfelt Approach)
『Finally scheduled for release on February 3, 2009 will be the 25th Anniversary Edition DVD of Barbra Streisand's 1983 directorial debut. Bonus features will include a new introduction by Streisand, a commentary track from her as well as the film's executive producer Rusty Lemorande, and most intriguingly, eleven deleted scenes. It remains the only one of her seventeen films not yet in DVD release in this country, so Barbra-philes will be rejoicing. As the first of only three films she has directed (so far), Streisand's labor of love still holds up as a charming turn-of-the-last-century fable that blends a contemporary sense of its three principal characters with an elaborately orchestrated soundtrack.

The movie plays out very much like the way she uniquely sings a song - beautifully lush, emotionally intimate and a bit overdone albeit forgivably so. Regardless, what makes this film genuinely successful is the heartfelt manner in which Streisand chooses to tell her version of Isaac Bashevis Singer's short story, Yentl the Yeshiva Boy. Co-written by her and English playwright Jack Rosenthal, the plot focuses on a young Jewish woman in Eastern Europe who has been tutored on the Talmud by her scholarly father. Since women are forbidden to receive a formal education, it remains a clandestine vocation until her father dies at which point she cuts off her hair, dresses like a boy, and seeks passage to the nearest Talmudic academy. En route, under the guise of Anshel, she meets Avigdor with whom she falls in love. Complications ensue since Yentl cannot reveal her true identity to Avigdor, who is in love with the comely Hadass, but Hadass becomes attracted to Anshel through the machinations of Avigdor when he is forbidden by Hadass' father to marry her.

Streisand directs this romantic roundelay with warmth and sincerity rather than cheap laughs, and naturally, as a means to bridge her dramatic interpretations of the big ballads penned by Michel Legrand and her favorite lyricists, Alan&Marilyn Bergman. The songs reflect interior monologues to express how Yentl feels in any given situation, and the conjoining technique works beautifully since the songs are so well crafted and Streisand is in glorious, emotionally unfettered voice. The best are the solitarily prayerful "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" under a starry night sky, the lusciously unrequited passion driving "The Way He Makes Me Feel", and the triumphant declaration of "No Matter What Happens". As expected from as meticulous a novice filmmaker as Streisand, the production values are superior, especially David Watkin's burnished cinematography and Roy Walker's production design.

In truth, Streisand looks too old as Yentl the yearning woman, but in full drag as Anshel, she looks ideally boyish. As she traverses genders back and forth with a fumbling grace, it is probably the most subtle acting she has done in films. Mandy Patinkin, then more famous as a singing Ché Guevara in Evita, makes for a potent romantic lead bringing a surly intellect and smoldering passion to Avigdor. As the third corner in the triangle, Amy Irving convincingly plays the subservient bride-to-be with sly intelligence. Veteran character actor Nehemiah Persoff (Some Like It Hot) makeshis few poignant scenes count as Yentl's father. A bit overlong at 132 minutes, it isn't a perfect film but it remains an impressive directorial debut and the first film that validates Streisand's exalted standing as a multi-hyphenate entertainment figure.』

(ONE OF AMERICA'S TREASURES!)
『I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT -- 25 YEARS OF WAITING -- AND IT WILL BE WORTH EVERY YEAR OF WAITING! I ALSO HOPE THAT THERE ARE SCENES CUT, COMMENTARY, ETC. ANYTHING THAT ICON DOES IS NOTHING BUT FIRST-CLASS, TOP SHELF, SUPERB, TOP OF THE LINE!

WHEN THE HECK ARE WE GOING TO GET THE DVD OF HER LAST CONCERT? I'VE BEEN TO BOTH OF THE OTHER CONCERTS -- I'M PLOTZING FOR THIS ONE FOR SURE!

FOR ME -- THAT VOICE CREATES AN "AUDITORY ORGASIM" EVERYTIME I HEAR HER SING!
JERRY EDELMAN -- LAKE WORTH, FLORIDA』

(Nothing's Impossible!)
『The mere fact that, finally, Barbra Streisand's vision quest, "Yentl", is being released on DVD confirms the whole theme of the movie and that is nothing's impossible.
Yentl set in Eastern Europe in a time where the female is not allowed to dive into learning, "picture books are for women", proclaims the local bookseller. So Yentl studies in secret with her father. After his death she literally runs for her life making the convincing transformation into a boy/man. Where Yentl/Anshel her male counterparts name makes friends very fast and is accepted into the Yeshiva where Yentl can study in the open. Yet nothing is as simple as it seems. This is the great conflict in the story for even as man she finds she can't deny the woman inside or march to the drum of her time. Learning The Talmud Yentl grows more confident as a woman and knows she must be herself at any cost.
Director Streisand weaves the film into a rich tapestry almost like a series of visual paintings that are sewn together. The beautiful music by Michelle Legrand and the gracious lyrics by Alan and Marlin Bergman with Barbra Streisand's rich nasal voice illustrate the inner longings of this complex character. A fine film that is timeless much like Ms. Streisand herself』

(I have my doubts......)
『Hmmmm... I seriously have my doubts about this. Come on, don't you find that strange that the price for this so very awaited dvd is this low, under 10$ is not usually reserved for a premium movie like this one.

Also, it's look like Amazon wanted to sell this but not too much......incredible.....Like if there was some kind of a shame in this movie like it was the case for other movies (example: Twilight zone:the movie).....

At the time of writing this i haven't see if the movie was in widescreen...if not...grrrrr another proof that they do not really want to sell it. Anyway, i was expecting a blu-ray as well. Especially with the fact that we've been waiting 26 years for this release.

fishy...fishy.........there is something going on........and we're gonna find out sooner or later.』

(Robbie who????)
『Amazon, are you demented? Why in the name of Show Business do you list the cast alphabetically for films? Streisand co-wrote, directed and produced this picture and she already got snubbed by Hollywood for her troubles -- do you have to add insult to injury? It's OK in the long run, I guess, since she gets the credit for this delicate, poetic triumph.

Apologies, Mr. Barnett, but I doubt you even thought you were the star of this picture.』

(Glad to find this)
『I saw Erasure on this tour in a small venue, so this is a great souvenir. It may not be as theatrical as The Tank..., or even the Wild tour video (which doesn't seem to be available on DVD...pity) but the performances were still outstanding.

I really just wrote this to point out to the previous poster that "Knocking On Your Door" appears on the "Crackers International" mini-album...which is the same CD "Stop!" comes from. I don't know why this song isn't more well known.』

(OH MY GOD WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ANDY BELL?)
『I wasn't at all prepsred for this.

This concert, shot at Cologne, was to support Erasure's album 'Songbird'is all right songwise, Andy Bell and the cute backup singers do all right with a whole range of songs from the catalog, and even Vince Clarke gets into the act too, chiming on a vocal for.. well, I won't spoil the surprise. The set is pretty funky..
But what really distracted me, and I'm sorry for saying this, is how bloated Andy Bell looked. Looking like a drag queen on a day off, Andy Bell has a curious paunch, a double chin, and just looks very odd. He doesnt look like he's having a good time, doesnt really move around, doesnt dance a whole lot. Also, I'm sorry Andy, but you've grown past the point where you can only appear on stage with a thong and heels.
The bonus features of this features a behind the stage making of vignette, a Q&A that just goes on FOREVER, a silly time lapse concert thing, and 3 videos, 2 of which Andy looks GREAT, and the other one features footage from the concert, curiously, it doesnt really dwell on any lingering shots of Andy Bell, which leads me to believe that the studio didn't think to highly of his performance either. ZING!!』

(Vital)
『This Concert is great. Andy Bell is full of energy and the backup singers complement him wonderfully. The lights of stage with the hits of Ersure will captivate you as you'll want to watch this one over and over. Great mood lifter.』

(Great!)
『For all of those fans or not, this vids collection is an essential one!
Erasure is pop, pure synth-pop. They have been on the air for the last 21 years and still keep on wrinting excellent material.
Don't doubt about it, buy THIS ONE!!!
I'll do recommend you to have in mind the DVD THE TANK, THE SWAN and THE BALLOON: the best ERASURE theatrical show ever!
Fantastic!』

(Fantastic...)
『Just a good as every other reviewer has stated...I'm just a little sad they chose to leave "Phantom Bride" off the setlist for this show.. They did play it at 2 of the NY shows I attended so it would have been nice to see it here as it is one of their better songs in my opinion. 4 stars instead of 5 for not including Phantom Bride.』
『Recorded live at the E Werk Stadium, Cologne on March 28th, 2005, this performance was filmed during THE ERASURE SHOW, Erasure's tour for their most recent album, 'Nightbird'. This sensational performance, recorded in 5.1 surround sound, features Erasure's Andy Bell in several costumes, including giant white angel wings and a black Elvis-esque jumpsuit.

This package also contains footage from a 2003 Copenhagen concert, a short film on the making of the tour, an interview with Andy Bell&Vince Clarke and videos for 3 tracks from 'Nightbird': "Breathe", "Don't Say You Love Me" and "All This Time Still Falling Out Of Love".』

(Funniest movies ever)
『If you like Will Ferrell and John C Reilly, you already will like this movie! its one of Will Ferrells best ever and one of the movies of the year』

(Ferrell and Reilly are back!)
『My first measure of a movie is whether it exceeds the expectations set by the trailer. I thought the premise of Step Brothers was a good fit for the inspired lunacy of "the boys," but I was hesitant. Both have wavered in recent efforts... Semi-Pro was a horrible failure and Walk Hard (while exhibiting momentary flashes of hilarity) was equally disappointing.

However, Step Brothers went well beyond the promise of the trailer and delivered in spades. Is it broad? YUP! Is it ridiculous? YUP. Does that matter? Not a bit. The movie is a laugh riot. Apatow's movie success has been predicated on his penchant for sophomoric hijinks perpetrated by underdevelop menchildren. That's what you go for. When he's on, he's golden; he's glittering here.

Bottom line, you don't go to a Hyundai dealership when you're shopping for a Benz. If you buy Step Brothers, you get what you pay for. Isn't that the point?』

(Step Brothers tops Anchorman)
『I liked Anchorman - I really did...but I never put it on the top of my "favorite comedy" list. Talladega Nights was HORRENDOUS. Step Brothers, however, is on top of that list.

A friend and I went to see this movie on opening night - we got there just as the previews were on the screen. Unfortunately, it was a packed house and we had to sit in the very first row. Of course, I was concerned (I hate hate hate sitting in the front row)...

But I have to tell you...there is no ending to the FUNNY in this movie. Had Ferrell or Reilly dropped or even wavered character at all in this movie, it would have been a huge FAIL. I laughed throughout.

As for the negative reviews - you can't sit down and watch an Apatow movie and NOT expect crude humor. Apatow has tapped into a formula of humor that Hollywood was needed for many years. We grew into and out of stupid-funny Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey movies...we are now into the next-generation of comedy.

This movie is full of WIN. Definately a must-see.』

(Hilarious!)
『I went into this movie not expecting much. Their last duo comedy was a so-so, Talladega Nights. But I was laughing almost from start to finish. This movie was a very unexpected surprise and was a lot of good laughs!』

(Crude but funny)
『Being a Will Ferrell fan, I was very disappointed in his last film "Semi-Pro." However, I thought this film brought back the craziness that I love about Mr. Ferrell and gave some great laughs. I saw this the night before my wedding with the guys in my wedding party and we all laughed like crazy. Good stuff!』
『Crude, juvenile, and proud of it,Step Brothersstars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as two 40-year-old men, both living at home and leading the lives of 13-year-old boys, who are thrown together when their single parents (Mary Steenburgen,Parenthood, and Richard Jenkins,Six Feet Under) get married. Brennan (Ferrell) and Dale (Reilly) start out hating each other as only teenage boys can--but things get even worse for their long-suffering parents when they become best friends. Step Brothers gets most of its mileage from very lowbrow humor, but hidden among the farts and masturbation jokes is the suggestion that while these guys may be emotionally arrested, so are Brennan's hotshot business executive brother (Adam Scott,Tell Me You Love Me) and his high-fiving frat-boy pals, just in a way that's condoned because it makes money. Also crucial is that Ferrell and Reilly capture adolescence in all its gruesome glory--the awkward insecurity but also the egomaniacal, arrogant self-centeredness. Mind you, this isn't the American version ofThe 400 Blowsor anything--one of the movie's setpieces features Brennan tea-bagging Dale's drum set (and if you don't know what tea-bagging is... well, you will after seeing this movie). All in all,Step Brotherscombines the adolescent humor of producer Judd Apatow (Superbad,Knocked Up) and the comic chemistry of Ferrell and Reilly (who previously costarred inTalladega Nights)--fans of either will find plenty to enjoy. --Bret Fetzer
