(Vacuum?)
『A hard to believe movie about a girl without a clue or a brain
but a real body, who moves into a college sorority as house mother
of Zeta house , the most unpopular house on campus.
Full of empty sex jokes and cliches about boobs and butts, this movie
has very little beside visual gags to go on.
The acting is minimal dumb blond standard and the plot is predictable.
I suppose people will buy it for the giggle and giggle appeal,
but it really turned me off.

(BUNNIES ARE MULTIPLYING!!!)
『When i first saw the trailer for this film it reminded me of Legally Blonde, Sydney White, She's the Man, and others. This movie for me was intersting, for there are real people in society like in the house of Zata. They feel like there in low parts of society, but just to get out of their shell and feel confident for themselves was an amazing thing to observe. Yeah they look sexy, but it took more than just looks. Women shouldn't only be a sexy object for men, they need to help out their fellow sisters and show that all girls in society are equal and beautiful. I hope that this DVD will bring what the guys will want. Us guys should be able to own and love this movie, just like women do. I feel everytime this movie plays I just sit back, enjoy the comedy, and just feel like your sexy. You know what they say about bunnies that multiply.』

(Awful)
『What's so sad is that it could have been funny. I sat through this film and cringed right up to the end. The humor was so predictable it was painful. Even worse, you could see where a really cliche comic opportunity was coming and you thought to yourself,"no, they won't go there, they won't pander like that", and before you could finish thinking the thought they went there. Two twelve year olds could have written this screenplay. I admit, there were parts that were funny .. but you can watch the preview to see those parts. If your IQ is above 90 .. this movie won't even entertain you. It has to be the worst movie I have seen in a very very long time.』

(You get What you expect)
『It's a funny, cute flick. In the order of Legally Blonde. If you like Legally Blonde you will like this movie. You get what you expect. Not so smart blonde bimbo wins over a group of misfits and ends up saving the day.』

(A funny bunny!)
『When I first heard about this film, I was less than impressed and had no intentions of seeing it. Once, however, I saw the preview at another film, I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did.

"The House Bunny" is a charming and funny little film starring Anna Faris as Shelly, a playboy bunny who lives a carefree life in Hugh Hefner's mansion. After her 27th birthday, she finds herself suddenly evicted from her perfect life, unaware of how she can make a living. When she stumbles onto a college campus and discovers that sororities slightly resemble her former playful lifestyle, she becomes determined to be the house mother of a failing sorority full of misfits and unpopular girls. Through her determined spirit, willingness to encourage others and using her sexuality in a positive way, Shelley works her magic and helps her girls to become of the belles of sorority row. And in the process, the young women teach Shelly some valuable lessons as well.

Faris gives a good comedic performance, giving the character a sweet, likeable naivety. I liked that the character wasn't bitchy or a diva, simply a kind girl who lived an exotic life but must now adjust to her new situation and envirnoment. The supporting cast is funny but the brunt of the film falls on Faris, who delivers and proves she can carry a film. Notable supporting characters include Rumor Willis (the daugther of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore)former American Idol alum, Kathernine McPhee and Colin Hanks, son of Tom Hanks.

This is a fun date movie and I recommend it as a perfect summer comedy movie. Worth a trip to the theater!』

『"I'm an expert in parties and boys. I'm a Bunny! Men write to me from prison--sometimes in their own blood!" So declares ex-Playboy Bunny Shelley, tossed out of the Mansion by a rival for her advanced age (27--"59 in bunny years," she's told). As played by the utterly fearless and appealing Anna Faris, Shelley becomes an unlikely post-feminist heroine, who finds a great use for her not-too-considerable expertise: being sexy. With nowhere else to live, Shelley finds herself as the house mother for a dying sorority, the Zetas, who are the audience for the rallying cry above. And the slightly misfit sisters, though wary, end up giving Shelley a sisterhood she could never have built back at the Grotto. To help build up the sorority, Shelley gives the young women her own peculiar tutorials in charm school--helping them raise their campus profile and recruit new pledges in the process. "When I'm done, every girl on campus will want to pledge Zeta!" Ignore her at your peril, girls. If the formula is a bit predictable, the pace is lively and the cast, headed by the wide-eyed Faris, is aces. American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee is a natural on camera, as is Rumer Willis, daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. The supporting cast includes the capable Colin Hanks and Beverly D'Angelo, and a bit too much screen time for the real-life Hugh Hefner, who maybe should have stayed on the set ofThe Girls Next Door. Still, Faris channels the cheerful, girly determination of Reese Witherspoon's Elle Woods--no surprise since The House Bunny was cowritten by Kirsten Smith, who wroteLegally Blonde. Fans of silly romances, hop to it.--A.T. Hurley

(Big Red is Back...)
『Out of all the comic book based movies that have been released over the last several years, I can only think of one that I just knew would have difficulty striking a chord with audiences; and yet, I found myself to be completely surprised when the end result turned out to be a great success. The film I am referring to was the 2004 surprise hit, "Hellboy" starring Ron Perlman as a bright red, demonic monster hunter. Before the original film arrived in theaters, the promotional images looked impressive, especially the make-up effects work being done to create Hellboy's devilish visage; which was something I never thought would look even remotely realistic. Yet, somehow what I once thought impossible, without going cheesy, B-movie-esque with the whole production, was brought to an entertaining reality. With the release of "Hellboy" and its anxiously awaited sequel "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army", both films directed by critically acclaimed director Guillermo Del Toro ("Blade 2"), a once obscure comic book hero has broken into the mainstream, and a new franchise is taking Hollywood by storm.

"Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" finds our crimson hero (Ron Perlman) grappling with personal issues centering around his fiery relationship with Liz (Selma Blair) and his desire to become widely known and accepted by the public that still believes him to be a myth. Meanwhile, an ancient truce is unraveling, and dark forces, led by the power hungry Prince Nuada (Luke Goss), are gathering to wage a devastating war upon humanity the likes of which have never been seen.

Earlier in 2008, when the first trailers started appearing to signal the upcoming arrival of "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army", I was excited about seeing the movie for two reasons. One, the original film was so much fun and a truly great comic book adaptation; and two, from what I could tell of the story from the previews, the second film looked as if it was going to be another exciting adventure starring our favorite demonic devil buster, and early buzz had it sounding as if it could even be a bit better than its predecessor. From my perspective, I don't know if I can say that this is one of those rare instances where the sequel surpasses the original film, but I do believe that it is easily an equal to "Hellboy" in every way.

The story for the original film was two-fold, first and foremost, it seemed to be a very faithful film adaptation of a semi-popular Dark Horse comic book that had yet to break into the mainstream with the heroes of DC Comics or Marvel; secondly, it was a terrific jumping on point for typical movie audiences (obviously), and for those comic book fans that had not been introduced to the character yet, and perhaps had only heard about him in passing or whatever the case may be. With the first film, writer Guillermo Del Toro obviously had to get the obligatory origin tale out of the way for audiences to be able to relate to and understand this rather atypical superhero. With "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army", Del Toro (once again returning as writer and director) was able to essentially dispense with the pleasantries, so to speak, and just dive into the two main driving forces of the story.

The primary plot of the film, in my opinion, centers on Hellboy and Liz's chaotic romance, and his need for acceptance from anyone and everyone around him. Generally, I get kind of annoyed when comic book films make a romance the focal point of the story (for example, the Spider-Man series; great films, too much romance though), yet in this instance the romantic angle was handled with an appropriate dosage of humor and seriousness, that it never feels too heavy-handed or bogs the story down in any way. The secondary plot revolved around Prince Nuada's bid for power in his realm, and his quest for vengeance upon the human world. It was this latter storyline that propelled the action/adventure aspect of the story, while the former provided the dramatic element needed to keep the film interesting.

What was nice about having these two major plots running concurrently throughout the movie was the fact that Del Toro was wise enough to intertwine them at various points throughout the duration of the film. Sometimes when two major plot lines drive a story, they tend to not intersect with each other all that much, and at times this can result in one of the stories not feeling quite as resolved as the other (most likely as an attempt to cash in on a sequel). For "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" the two plots both come to satisfying conclusions providing the audience with a sense of resolution should another sequel not occur; while still leaving enough of an opening for a follow-up should the opportunity arise.

If I were to judge "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" purely from a visual effects standpoint, then it is by far a superior film to the original. Of course this is the result of a heftier budget, thanks in no small part to the success of "Hellboy". Even with a sizeable budget increase, Del Toro continues his somewhat rebellious ways within Hollywood, by taking the road less traveled these days. Meaning that he does not solely rely upon CGI to create his fantastical world of creatures. Sure there was a generous amount of CGI dispersed throughout the film, and without a doubt it all looked excellent; however, assisting the CGI, Guillermo Del Toro opted to use a large array of practical effects for many of the creatures he wished to bring to life. Make no mistake when you see this movie the CGI is virtually impeccable, but the costumes and creature designs created for the practical (on-set) side of things is simply astounding. After watching this film, it's easy to understand why Hollywood has branded Guillermo as being a visionary director from his work on both "Pan's Labyrinth" and now "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army".

The actors and actresses in this film are all top-notch, and considering that roughly 85% of them are wearing some form of prosthetics or heavy make-up or something of the sort, it's surprising how strong the performances turned out. Ron Perlman ("Hellboy") as the titular character, once again nails the role perfectly. I firmly believe that there is no other actor in Hollywood that could have captured this role any better than Ron has; from his sardonic wit, gruff voice, and the fact that he looked as if he simply walked off the comic book page, there is no doubt in my mind that Ron Perlman was born to be Hellboy. Selma Blair reprises her role as Liz Sherman. No longer a victim of her powers, Liz is in complete control, and has accepted her role in protecting humanity from those who wish to do it harm. Even though she has conquered one problem, she still has to deal with her often immature boyfriend, Hellboy, which causes more than just a few fiery arguments to say the least. It is their frequently heated relationship that makes for some of the most fun and entertaining moments of dialogue within the film.

The extremely talented, yet rarely heard from, Doug Jones once again personifies Abe Sapien; but this time Doug actually gets to provide the voice for the character as well. In the previous film, Doug's vocal performance was replaced by actor David Hyde Pierce (TV's "Frasier"), much like his performance in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" when Laurence Fishburne was brought in to provide the voice for the Surfer, while Doug provided the physical performance for the character. Luckily, Doug's voice is similar to David's so if a person isn't paying close enough attention, or if it's been a while since they last watched the first film, they'd never even know it was another actor's voice providing the line readings. This does beg one question though. If Doug and David's voices were so similar, then why have David provide the voice in the first place, or for that matter why switch to Doug for the sequel? Perhaps, David Hyde Pierce wasn't available at the time to work on this film. Who knows? Lastly, Luke Goss ("Blade 2") as the villainous Prince Nuada, gave a performance that was equal parts dangerous and creepy weird, oftentimes he was both at the same time. The only thing that I felt was odd about Luke's performance was that he sometimes seemed to have a slight accent in his delivery, yet other times nothing out of the ordinary. Other than those sporadic bits of an accent, I thought Luke was a good choice for the lead villain, and that he gave a fairly strong, if not slightly inconsistent performance.

"Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" is an absolutely entertaining, action-packed adventure that perfectly expands upon everything that was great about the original film without ever seeming repetitive or unoriginal. While not necessarily surpassing the original film, this movie doesn't fall short of it either, which is an achievement for any sequel to attain.

"Hellboy 2: The Golden Army" is rated PG-13 for violence and language.』

(HELLBOY 2 THE GOLDEN ARMY)
『WORTH EVERY PENNY ESPECIALLY THE SPECIAL EDITION. RON PERLMAN IS AN AWESOME ACTOR AND SELMA BLAIR HELPS IT OUT. THE MOVIE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE AND THE BONUS FEATURES ARE SO WORTH IT.』

(Excellent mix of X-Men, City of Lost Children, and Men in Black)
『Fun movie, actually a lot better than Hellboy I, but even though it is a mix of X-men (the better ones ie: 1 and 3), Jean-Pierre Jeunet's City of Lost Children, and Men in Black II, it is actually a lot better than a bad movie like Men in Black II. There is a point in the movie where you wonder "oh no, this is becoming like Men in Black II", but luckily, the movie gets past that point unscathed (ie: the turn the encounter with the tree god into a more humanistic story, as opposed to "let's shoot up all 'dem big things!". The kid at the beginning was a bit corny, but I suppose fits into the comic book motif. Also Hellboy II should make an excellent companion to any Hellboy III (considering where the story was going.』

(Hellboy 2)
『Hellboy 2 is hipedup really bad. After seeing it you lose all intrest in seeing it againe.

(What the Hellboy happened?)
『The best part of Hellboy II: The Golden Army was the first few minutes when backstory was given in The Princess Bride-style with Hellboy's adoptive father reading him the story of The Golden Army. The cuts to the prepubescent Hellboy had me asking myself, "Why is Hellboy being portrayed as such a p---y?" It was frustrating and annoying to see the child version of the brusgue, rough-hewn character I'd come to like as portrayed by Ron Perlman.

Ron Perlman had me years ago in Beauty and the Beast, and his performance in this film was solid. The problem was the emphasis on the interpersonal relationships between the characters. I think the director and screenwriter strove too hard to marry the fantasy elements with the real-life problems of ordinary people problems.

Hellboy and his companions aren't ordinary people, so they became far too cartoonish and dull when they were behvaving like regular folk.

Doug Jones is wonderful in every movie I've ever seen him in. His Silver Surfer is one of the sexiest figures in an action movies.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army is worth a watch, but don't expect the movie to be as endearing and interesting as Hellboy.

I hope there's a Hellboy III because I love the characters and I don't want Hellboy II to be the endnote to the Hellboy movie franchise.』

『The fate of mankind hangs in the balance when a ruthless prince awakens an unstoppable army of creatures and wages war with the human world. It s up to Hellboy and his team of paranormal outcasts to face off with the forces of darkness in the ultimate battle of good versus evil! From the visionary director of Pan s Labyrinth Hellboy II: The Golden Army takes you into fantastical worlds with imaginative creatures and thrilling fight sequences unlike anything you ve ever seen before!System Requirements:Running Time: 120 minutesFormat: BLU-RAY DISC Genre: ACTION/ADVENTURE/FANTASY Rating: PG-13 UPC: 025195047296 Manufacturer No: 61105623』
『The feverishHellboy II: The Golden Armyis a very busy sequel that might have looked unhinged in the hands of a less visionary director than Guillermo del Toro. Ron Perlman returns as Hellboy, aka "Red," the Dark Horse Comics demon-hero with roots in the mythical world but personal ties in the human realm. Still working, as he was inHellboy, for a secret department of the federal government that deals (as in "Men In Black") with forces of the fantastic, Red and his colleagues take on a royal elf (Luke Goss) determined to smash a longtime truce between mankind and the forces of magic. Meanwhile, Red's relationship with girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair), who can burst into flames at will, is going through a rocky stage observed by Red's fishy friend Abe (Doug Jones), himself struck by love in this film. Del Toro brilliantly integrates the ordinary and extraordinary, diving into an extended scene set in a troll market barely hidden behind the façade of typical city streets. He also unleashes a forest monster that devastates an urban neighborhood, but then--interestingly--brings a luminous beauty to the same area as the creature (an "elemental") succumbs to a terrible death. Del Toro's art direction proves masterful, too, in a climactic battle set in a clockworks-like stronghold tucked away in rugged Irish landscape. But it's really the juxtaposition of visual marvels with not-so-unusual relationship issues that givesHellboy IIa certain jaunty appeal hard to find in other superhero movies. --Tom Keogh

(KUNG FU PANDA MOVIE)
『I was absolutely thrilled with the product and the movie was so good and cute. I will order from them again for sure. The movie was in excellent shape and described just like they said.』

(Terrific entertainment!)
『This is a kids movie done in the best way - lots of laughs, a great message, plenty of enjoyable asides and loads of bits and pieces adults can enjoy as well. The voice acting is top notch and with a great cast.

I laughed out loud in several places and the film never gave way to over the top cutseyness - it's great fun all the way through and very strongly recommended.』

(I love Kung Fuuuuuu...)
『My wife rented this movie last week for our almost-three-year-old son. Little did she expect that he and I would watch this movie about six times before returning it, and now we just bought it for him (us) as a gift for Christmas. The first run-through, our son didn't always pay his full attention to it, mainly because he's used to his mainstays (Cars, Toy Story, Nemo, Monster's Inc., and The Incredibles -- he's already following in Daddy's footsteps as a Pixar junkie), but the next day when asked what movie he wanted to watch, he asked for Kung Fu Panda. Since then he's been infatuated with the entire cast of characters. He especially likes the villain (should I be worried?).

This movie reinforces the lessons of "aspire to dream," "follow your dream," "don't judge a book by its cover,"...and also, of course, "always do your best." Anyway, this is a great movie, great animation, great story, and a great buy. Even for almost-three-year-olds as well as 38-year-olds. :-)

Oh yes, and don't be afraid of exposing your kids to the craziness that is Jack Black. He knows when to turn his Tenacious D off and on a la School of Rock or even King Kong, for that matter.』

(GREAT!)
『THIS WAS SO CUTE!
GREAT LESSON FOR KIDS AND ADULTS
JACK BLACK IS A NUT!』

(Fantastic Fun for the Whole Family)
『Dreamworks really hit the target when they created Kung Foo Panda. This is probably the most complex computer animation that Dreamworks has done to date. The stellar animation, along with an engaging storyline, and great comedic timing really equals a movie that both parents and children would love.

The characters are engaging, there was enough slapstick comedy to keep my nephews laughing, and a wonderful moral at the end. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone.』

『Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po works in his family’s noodle shop while daydreaming about becoming a Kung Fu master. His dreams soon become reality when he is unexpectedly chosen to join the world of Kung Fu and study alongside his idols-the legendary fighters Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey-under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it’s up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu hero into reality? Po puts his heart and his girth into the task, and ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.』
『What's a panda to do when his dreams of kung-fu awesomeness awake to the cold reality of noodle-making? Clumsy, overweight Po (Jack Black) dreams of becoming a kung fu master like China's revered "furious five," but instead seems destined to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather in the restaurant business. When great leader Oogway has a vision that the imprisoned kung fu warrior Tai Lung (Ian McShane) will soon escape, he declares it time to choose China's dragon warrior--one kung fu master deemed worthy of possessing the dragon's scroll and its secret to limitless power. Po and all the townspeople rush to the Jade Palace atop the highest mountain to witness the contest between Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogan), Crane (David Cross) and Viper (Lucy Liu), but Po is locked outside the palace. After a miracle of sorts, Po lands inside the palace gates, where he is chosen as the dragon warrior and placed under the tutelage of the decidedly non-plussed master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman). An unconventional student to say the least, hilarity reigns as Shifu tries desperately to make Po into some semblance of a kung fu warrior. Can Po possibly fulfill his destiny as dragon warrior, or was Oogway's final decision a critical mistake? A film rich with hilarious moments, superior animation, and an important message about believing in oneself and the power that comes from within,Kung Fu Pandais great entertainment that will have the whole family laughing and begging for more. (Pinocchio Walt Disney's Second Greatest Masterpiece!)
『Whoopee!! At long last Disney is re-releasing this classic animated motion picture on Platinum Edition DVD! This is a marvellous treat for all animation fans everywhere !!

Disney's second full length animated feature is full to the brim with delights , and marvellous characters , such as Jiminy Cricket , Gepetto, the Blue Fairy , Pinocchio himself , Figaro the Cat , and Cleo the Mae Westian Fish , plus of course the darker elements of the story , namely the Fox John Worthington Foulfellow and his mute sidekick the Cat , the excitable Stromboli, the bad influence Lampwick , the chilling Coachman "Oh they never come back as Boys!! The sequence of Lampwick's transformation ( and not to spoil things I'll say no more ! ) is terrifying!

The film is full of exquisite detail , and through the extensive use of the - at the time - State of the Art Multiplane Camera* gives hitherto unseen effects of great depth to several suquences of the movie beginning with the establishing opening shot sequence when we first meet Jimminy Cricket!

I look forward to the Making Of Featurette, with Gustav Tenggren's splendid inspirational pre-production drawings etc.

This is a movie to add to every animation buff's/family's DVD library!

* The Multiplane Camera was first used in the pioneering Silly Symphony The Old Mill , and then in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , which thankfully , is due out again next October in Disney Platinum Edition on DVD and Blu Ray!』

(Finally, one of Disney's very best!)
『I am so excited that this title is finally being released first time Platinum Edition. This movie is one of Disney's very best. The animation is so beautiful and detailed. The character development is wonderful and the soundtrack is fantastic. It is amazing to think that at the time it was released in the theaters it was a financial failure. Walt wanted to make sure that the quality of the animation and the movie did not suffer, even if it meant losing money on it, which it did. BUT, through the years the obvious magic of this movie captured so many hearts, that eventually it came on top and made movie making history. So here is to all of us that dare to dream and wish upon a star. Pinoke.... you will forever be in my heart!』

(Hilarious Storyline, LOL Dialogue, Strong Acting)
『I thought this movie was hilarious. I loved that James Franco was in a comedic role, because he was very funny in FREAKS&GEEKS, but lately has done almost only dramatic roles.

As with most Judd Apatow movies, it might have been 15-20 minutes too long, but other than that, it was clever, yet silly...ridiculous, yet intelligently crafted. One thing I liked is that it took common comedy conventions and spun tose things 180 degrees in the opposite direction to give you some shock humor, rather than the predictable laugh.

There is some over-the-top laughable action too.

I don't always like pot movies, because sometimes it's like being the designated driver and watching everyone else carry on drunk while you're sober, but this one was not like that. Because the humor was clever, it made the two pothead characters believable, hilarious, and even endearing. I think a lot of people watch this movie while they are high themselves, and love it. Well, I watched it sober, and I loved it.』

(Stoner Comedy Mixes Laughs&Action)
『"Pineapple Express" has so many good things going for it, it's a shame it undermines them with odd shifts in tone and a schizophrenic structure.
Dale Denton (Seth Rogen) is a process server. The job suits him because it offers plenty of time to smoke joints and get high in his car as he drives around to find his marks and hand them subpoenas. His friendly dealer, Saul Silver (James Franco), is a laid back, long-haired dude who maintains a constant high and likes to state impressive, heavy thoughts that reflect a mind hazed over by marijuana. Saul offers Dale his latest product -- Pineapple Express, a potent form of pot that only Saul is selling.
When Dale heads off to serve his next subpoena to Ted Jones (Gary Cole), who happens to be the city's most dangerous drug lord, he witnesses a murder and drives off in a panic, but not before he tosses away his Pineapple Express roach. The murderers, Jones and a crooked cop (Rosie Perez), hear the commotion but fail to see who witnessed the murder. They find the roach, Jones samples it, realizes it is Pineapple Express and knows Saul can lead them to the witness.
Director David Gordon Green has created a sort of Frankenstein of a movie. It seems to be cobbled together from parts of several movies rather than a cohesive whole. The first half of the movie is its best. The conversations between Saul and Dale are wonderfully surreal, as Saul's pot-induced misunderstandings or loopy associations make for some very funny scenes. Franco, not really known for comedy (he's the somber Harry Osborn in the "Spider-Man" series), does a fantastic job underplaying Saul and is the source of most of the humor. In fact, Rogen and Franco work like an off-centered Abbott and Costello with Rogen, the less stoned of the two, serving as straight man and Franco delivering not so much punchlines as dissociated responses that are often hilarious.
The light, comic tone is perfect for the subject matter, and the film moves along briskly until, suddenly, it shifts gears to a violent action flick complete with a car chase, shoot `em ups, and brutal killings. With such carnage going on, the attempt to blend comedy fails to come off, and the laughs are stifled by graphic, gruesome mayhem.
Rogen, who should win a Most Unlikely Guy to Become a Movie Star statuette, has defined a new kind of leading man. He plays a kind of man-child -- a fellow in his mid-20's to early 30's who retains a longed-for adolescence. In "Pineapple Express," for example, his 25-year-old Dale is dating an 18-year-old high school student, Angie* (Amber Heard). When we see him visit her at school, it is a decidedly creepy scene. And he still revels in getting high, choosing a job that allows him plenty of time to engage in his favorite pastime.
I like Green's easy-going, episodic narrative in the first half of the film, which finds buddies Saul and Dale -- who don't realize they're buddies until they are on the run from the bad guys -- undergoing a series of misadventures in the woods, during a car chase, or at the home of middleman drug dealer Red (Danny R. McBride). It plays like an odyssey of two stoners who outwit their fates by sheer luck, clumsiness, and on-the-spot decision making. When the full-out action stuff kicks in, the movie loses its charm.
Rated R for extreme violence, strong language, and abundant marijuana use, "Pineapple Express" is a movie whose potential isn't fully realized. The fault lies with director Green, who takes an obvious road in the movie's third act rather than drawing upon more original means to tie the plot together. The film reminds me of a student who writes a well crafted essay but, getting tired of thinking by 3 A.M., hastily scribbles down a final paragraph.』

(Loved This Movie)
『At first like another reviewer said I was a little hesitant to go see this movie but after I saw it I couldn't believe I had thought that. I loved this movie it was so funny even if you don't smoke I think it is funny enough for everyone to be able to enjoy.』

("I'm kinda flabergasted when you say things like that...")
『To keep it short, sweet and to the point... So good, I went to the theater to watch it twice in one week! The most amazingly hilarious movie I've seen in a long time. By the time I left the theater, my ribs were in agony from the non-stop, gut-busting comedy. I think I laughed even harder the second time around :) Seth Rogen and James Franco made an excellent duo for this flick.』

(Finely crafted low brow fun)
『Pineapple Express is such a fun film and very odd for its type. It lacks the emotional depth that Apatow's associates have been able to mix with their brand of dirty comedy, but it still has heart. It also has a different kind of humor. It's not the witty dialogue that takes center stage, but rather it's a tiny blend of that and a huge dose of finedly crafted physical comedy.

The way the movie plays calls for physical comedy, as Seth Rogen and James Franco are high on pot through the duration of the film. In the hands of anyone else, this movie will fail. But Rogen and Franco play their parts very well. That's where the humor plays out. Whether it's a paranoid Rogen explaining a sticky situation to his girlfriends parents or a pot impaired Franco in a car chase, the humor is almost entirely physical.

That's not to say this film doesn't have its own narrative wit. The chracters are funny and as one review pointed out, almost plausible. Rogen is entierly likeable (as he always is), as a man who serves out subpoenas and Franco is his drug dealer who is forced into an alliance with Rogen's character. And wihle Rogen is always great and dependable in his comedic roles, it's Franco who shines, delivering laughs in nearly every scene he's in.

The film has heart, too. Though it doesn't quite strike the chord that prior Apatow outings have, the film has a certain "male bonding" vibe to it that makes it a sorta "chick flick" for guys. That may sound kinda corny, but watch it with the guys, and you may see what I mean.』

『A new comedy from the creative genius of Judd Apatow (40 Year Old Virgin,Knocked Up,Talladega Nights) follows a pair of druggie losers as they reach the top of the hit-list when one witnesses a mob murder and drags his buddy into a crazy flight from mobsters bent on silencing both of them permanently. The film stars new sensation Seth Rogen (Knocked Up,Superbad,40 Year Old Virgin) and James Franco (Spider-Man 1-3) and it co-stars Rosie Perez (Do The Right Thing) and Gary Cole (The Brady Bunch Movie). Movie is directed by David Gordon Green.』
『The latest bro-mance from team Apatow (the guys who brought usSuperbad,Knocked UpandThe 40-Year-Old Virgin),Pineapple Expressis the story of Dale Denton (Seth Rogan) and Saul Silver (James Franco), a pothead and his dealer who accidently get caught up in a drug war between two gangs with some corrupt cops, high-school girls and small-time henchmen thrown in for good measure. At its core,Pineapple Expressis a stoner comedy--a tale of two semi-slow giggling and loveable idiots inwayover their heads--this formula has made for some entertaining comedy over the years, Cheech and Chong'sUp in Smokeand Dave Chappell'sHalf Bakedbeing two of the best examples. What setsPineapple Expressapart from these silly classics however, is the consistency of the humor, the perfect chemistry between Rogan and Franco and the giddily ridiculous action sequences (and the fact that even mild intoxication is not required to enjoy the humor). The movie retains the sweetness that is present in most of Apatow's films, making the characters’ poor choices and ultra-violent actions somehow justifiable, or at least relatable. The site gags, pop-culture references and perfectly timed non-sequiturs only enhance the hilarity. Director David Gordon Green, known mostly for the understated and reflective filmsGeorge WashingtonandAll the Real Girls, seemed like an odd choice for such a raucous and over-the-top comedy, but it turns out Green's stamp is all over this film (as is his long-time cinematographer, Tim Orr) who together manage to turnPineapple Expressinto much more than the sum of its parts. --Kira Canny

『If you are a student of World's Fairs of the past, this DVD should be part of your collection.
Presented in a smooth way (not Ken Burns), so as to keep interest.』

(It WAS the Greatest Fair -- Ever !)
『Around the beginning of the 20th century during the Victorian Era and the Industrial Revolution, a series of World's Fairs were held in Europe and the United States. They displayed the latest inventions, manufacturing processes, agriculture advances, and brought together the peoples of the world to see the world--all in one location! The Victorian World's Fairs attracted millions of people, and reached an apex in 1904 in St. Louis at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition.

Scott and Bob produced a magnificent portrait of this amazing Fair, not by descriptions of the fantastic buildings and exhibits, but by telling numerous detailed and intimate stories about the Fair. The viewer will learn all about the Fair, including David Francis (the President of the Fair), the music, food, art, and people that were at the Fair, the Pike (the mile of entertainment), the 1904 Olympics, and the great Ferris Wheel.

Since the Fair reflected the culture of the times, there are stories about women and the only official woman photographer at the Fair, and the treatment of the minorities that were brought to the Fair as part of the young science of Anthropology. Stories about the transportation of the time include an automobile 'race' from New York to St. Louis, and the wreck of a train full of would-be Fair visitors.

Critically acclaimed, the movie was thoroughly researched and photographed, and features many famous St. Louis voices, including Mayor Francis Slay and Stan Musial. Written with the help of many St. Louis World's Fair Society members and enthusiasts, it was shown in 2004 to sold out audiences many times in St. Louis.

This movie will interest anyone who is interested in history or entertainment of the early 1900s from beginning to end with it's variety and scenery.

Even though I was a "Fair Fan" and one of the lucky ones who got to help Bob and Scott, I learned many new things from this movie. You'll see that the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair truly was "The World's Greatest Fair".

(great ken burns type documentary!!)
『i just got this dvd in the mail yesterday and i have to say content wise and the subject matter were absolutely fascinating,on par with the best documentary done by ken burns.one of the chapters tells about the first olympic games on american soil being held at the fair, another about the famous foods that might and might not have been introduced for the first time at the 1904 fair, the ferris wheel, the music played at the fair, and the exploitation of the filipino and african-american races in 1904 america.the directors scott huegerich and bob miano in my opinion made a very fun, informative, and enlightening documentary i will be watching many, many times over and i recommend it absolutely, get it,you won't be sorry!!』

(Of course I liked it... I DIRECTED it! ;^))
『I'm not going to tell you that this is a wonderful production - Since I'm one of the directors! But I DO want you to know that you can read a detailed description of this documentary (along with what the critics have said about it) at www.theworldsgreatestfair.com. You can also find reviews from folks who saw the film in theaters at www.imdb.com.

I think you'll enjoy this compelling documentary. Everyone who worked on it during the year and a half we were in production (well over 150 people) wanted to create THE documentary about this important event for decades to come.
