(Catchy Tunes and More Words for ASD Child)
『Our son is on the Autism Spectrum and is a very visual learner. He knew his shapes and colors and we used this as a repetition source for maintenance.
One day while driving he came out with one of their songs - Green grass, blue sky, red apples and the yellow sunshine. We were surprised since he doesn't normally speak without a lot of prompting. He really liked the song. We in turn were very happy to hear him sing the words out clearly. Highly recommend for those on the ASD.』

(great for teaching young toddlers!)
『I was given this DVD and I love it! I started letting my son watch it about once a week when he was around 15 months and he knew his shapes and colors in no time! I think these videos are superior to Baby Einstien because they actually teach your child. If you are unsure just buy a used one and try it. I doubt you will be dissapointed.』

(Great find!)
『This was the first of the Brainy Baby series DVDs I bought for my now 3 1/2 month old son. It hooked me. I like the series overall so much better than most Baby Einstein videos which many moms rave about (except I do like Neptune in that series). Anyway, this video is wonderfully perpared. It has vibrant uses of colors and shapes--using many children and creative ideas for every day items to show children shapes--such as a pizza slice for a triangle. Since children tend to want to watch the same video over and over--be sure to pick one you can stand too. This one is fun to watch for you and your children.』

(brainy baby shapes and colors - just ok)
『The video is Ok but some of the songs are pretty hokey and even my son doesn't like them. He will watch the video but he has yet to sit for the entire video like he does with others.』

(Tackles 2 concepts in 1 video)
『The Shapes portion of this video begins with a really long song about shapes and foods (triangles are like pizza slices, etc). I really don't care for the singing voices. It always sounded to me like they were singing, "Whilst you know how to name your shapes". I had to listen to this over and over and finally realized they they were really singing "Once you know how to name your shapes" (at least I think that must be what they are saying because whilst just doesn't make sense).

The shapes focused on in this video are circle, square, triangle, rectangle, star, diamond, heart, oval, crescent, and then they have a very little bit with the shapes pentagon, hexagon, and octagon.

The very first time I watched this I thought it was annoying. Everything seemed to be fast and hard to absorb. As I watched it again I felt that it wasn't quite as bad as I thought at first. I like the Colors half of the video better.

In the Colors section they have a lot of repeats of Baby's First Impressions Colors, but Brainy Baby has more speaking and adds a few more colors. The colors are red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, brown, pink, black, white, silver and gold. After a few colors they have a color review. Just for you to get an idea, for purple they show these things in purple: balloons, flowers, bunny, ball, baby with a scuba outfit on (why? I don't know. I guess because it's purple), slinky, grapes (animated ones and also real ones), egg plant, pool dolphin toy, easter egg, toy turtle and then kids in purple.

It is nice that this video tackles two concepts in one video. I think it's ok but I'm not wildly excited about it. I really like So Smart Shapes and So Smart Colors better. Please read my other reviews.

『Introduces 12 Shapes and 12 Colors Catchy sing-along songs DVD includes special features such as: Baby Bloopers, Behind The Scenes, Video Sing-Along and an Interactive Activity. 45 minutes』
『Reaching beyond the basic rainbow and building-block primer,Brainy Baby: Shapes&Colorscelebrates the many forms and hues that typical 1- to 4-year olds encounter in their everyday surroundings. A music video introduces the shapes portion of the show by focusing on edible triangles, circles, and crescents. A thorough, creative rundown of 11 shapes ensues, led by a helpful narrating voice that gently introduces words ("This is a circle"), asks simple questions ("How many rectangles do you see?"), and points out interesting sights. Halfway through the 40-minute program, a second music video gives viewers a chance to stretch, wiggle, and prepare to learn about 12 colors. Outstanding camera work captures imaginative footage outdoors and indoors, from preening pink flamingos to gleeful toddlers cavorting with foam shapes. The DVD also includes an interactive storybook, narrated by a child, to reinforce lessons learned; a video sing-along; and other parent/child activities.--Liane Thomas

(Old "Skool' Kung Fu!1)
『There are three types of kung fu styles I find to be the most impressive:Eagle's Claw, The Crane and Monkey kung fu,,,any kung fu flicks which has these thyles in it,,,to me is always facinating. However,I though Eagle's Claw was a really good movie,,,the cinematography and choreography is well put together,,,a really great flick to check out!!』

(average fu at best, but a story that will really keep you interested)
『And certainly chang yi playing the white-haired villian is always great. Overall, a really good story.

When the master is dying at this schol, he is going to name a successor to him. He does not pick the elder student(chi Kuan-chun), but a younger one(don wong). From here we get quite a few unexpected twists. And they are very well done.

So no real great fighting, just some good old movie magic happening. I think this movie was missing dorian tan. He could have boosted it up to a 4, but the action just wasn't all that great.』

(Eagle's Claw)
『Hey, another one of those old school kung fu classics where the white-haired villan must be killed off. Yes, this is one of those.

Tai Seng - Martial Arts Theater did a pretty good job with the transfer to DVD of this classic. When I first saw it on VHS it was great then. The overdubs and picture quality was pretty good. The widescreen is exceptional - can't complain at all.

In this flick you basically have the Praying Mantis school trying to eliminate The Eagle's Claw school. The head pupil, played by Lo Lieh, pretends to defect to the Praying Mantis school after pretending to kill his master. In actuality, his master was fatally injured by a chest blow from the teacher from the Praying Mantis school. He died two days later. Knowing he will die soon, the teacher from The Eagle's Claw school told his head pupil to infiltrate The Praying Mantis school in order to learn their kung fu techniques in order to later take revenge. The Eagle's Claw school soon put out the word that the head pupil killed their master and that they wanted him dead. The teacher from The Praying School felt he could use this situation to his advantage by enlisting the help of Lo Lieh to kill everyone in The Eagle's Claw school. After The Eagle's Claw plan was discovered by the Praying Mantis school, the white-haired villan decided to quickly outfox his enemies by attacking them earlier than planned.

This is an old-school must have!』

("You're a stupid fool! The biggiest idiot I've ever known!")
『Now before I get to the movie let me say something about these
MAT (Martial Arts Theatre) dvd's! YOU WILL NOT FIND THESE
ANYWHERE ELSE! Most of these movies are lost and will never be
found! You will have to put up with the fact that these films
can't be saved to perfection! Perhaps a shot in a dark you will
find even a few of these in widescreen! Like Crash Cinema's My
12 Kung Fu Kicks! You should be thankful that these films are
still around and you should be brown-nosing Tai Seng for keeping
them alive as of today! Want someone to blame for fullscreen
crap, blame Ocean Shores! This copy of Eagle's Claw is in
widescreen (one of the few MAT films in widescreen! The picture
is good but not perfect! The film itself is one of the better
kung fu films ever made! Lee Tso Nam is one of the best b-movie
indie kung fu film directors ever! You should check out his
other films! Most avalible from Tai Seng's MAT! THe fights were
good and there is alot of it!』

(Pretty avarage kung fu romp, nothing special here.)
『The best thing about this film is the main villain Ching Yi, with pointed boots and a stupid hat. Fighting is surprisingly weak, but gets better towards the end and the plot has a few interesting twists (though predictable.) Enjoyable film, but doesn't have to be seen more than once (ok, I've seen 3 times already...).
For some really energetic fight action, get Sammo Hung's masterpiece Warriors Two (the best kung fu film ever), also from 1978 (which makes Eagle's Claw look very slow and very very old skool). But still. Maybe Lee Tso Nam's best film (definately over-rated here, it's far from 5-star quality, or even 4,) so see it if you have to (worth a rental.)』

『The new "extended edition" of this ground-breaking feature length movie presentation reveals The Great Secret of the universe. It has been passed throughout the ages, traveling through centuries... to reach you. This is The Secret to everything - the secret to unlimited joy, health, money, relationships, love, youth: everything you have ever wanted. In this astonishing program are ALL the resources you will ever need to understand and live The Secret. For the first time in history, the world's leading scientists, authors, and philosophers will reveal The Secret that utterly transformed the lives of every person who ever knew it... Plato, Newton, Carnegie, Beethoven, Shakespeare, Einstein. Now YOU will know The Secret. And it can change your life forever.』
『Not really a movie or documentary,The Secretis more of a video seminar, a presentation featuring a series of authors, philosophers, doctors, quantum physicists, entrepreneurs, and spiritual practitioners expounding on the powers of The Secret (probably the most well-known of the presenters is Jack Canfield, author ofChicken Soup for the SoulandThe Success Principles). What isThe Secret, exactly? "That principle can be summed up in three simple words: thoughts become things," proclaims writer Mike Dooley, author ofNotes from the Universe. Put it another way, it’s The Power of Positive Thinking and how it can be applied to attracting more money, better health, and relationships; in short, happiness. (There is a rundown of topics on the DVD Chapters menu).

Most of the material here is given in a straightforward manner, with the presenters simply talking into the camera to address the audience directly, which is good because it avoids the trap of pretense. On the other hand, the quick edits between presenters (would it hurt to let them say more than one sentence at a time?) don't help because it reduces many of their points to palatable sound bites and aphorisms. To many viewers, this may make the program come across as a series of nice ideas not rooted in reality. Plus it's somewhat spurious to claim that The Secret was well understood and practiced by specific individuals like Plato or Shakespeare (it's well known that some of the historical figures noted didn't exactly live happy or even prosperous lives, despite their achievements). But still, the primary message is one of positivity and hope for everyone. So what to make of it? In the end, programs like this generally find an audience that is open to the message, and many will probably find it to be a source of inspiration. Others will approach it with a good deal of skepticism or dismiss it as another way of marketing happiness the masses. It simply won’t resonate with everyone, but if it resonates with you, you're likely to enjoy it and get a lot out of it. Those looking for more on The Secret might want to check out the companion book by Rhonda Byrne.--Daniel Vancini

『Now this film is a bit on the odd ball side, it is funny, and I like it, I don't think it was Oscar worthy, but then I didn't think the Movie "Babe" ( the pig one ) was best Movie and it won, "Apollo 13" was much better for that yrs Oscar, but Hollywod didn't want Tom Hanks to have 3 in a row..politics...lol Anyway as I was saying it's a cute film but NOT for kids.....The "F" word is used a lot.』

『This movie turned out to be a sleeper! It started out slow and I wandered if I hadn't made a mistake. As the movie continued I started laughing and didn't stop till the end. The ending also touched my heart for the underdogs of this world. You didn't know whether to cry or laugh. This is why I purchased this movie. I own very few dvd's. Another good movie I highly recommend is "Secondhand Lions" with Robert Duvall and Michael Caine. This movie is also like "Little Miss Sunshine" in that it will make you laugh and cry.』

『Most families will enjoy this because most families aren't mental about making their young daughters look like street women for a beauty contest. I found this movie refreshing and I loved the family. Each member was developed exceptionally well. We see the typical family with it's highs and lows. The underbelly if you will of a realistic family and not some reality show which is more made up than the charaterizations in this movie. I recommend this if you enjoy melodramas. After all what is comedy without some drama? Good quality DVD with minimum extras. Decent replayability. If you enjoyed this catch "Best in Show" and "As Good as it Gets".

(Disfunction at its most mediocre)
『Wow, was this ever a lame movie! It's unbelievable to me that so many people liked it! How is it possible that so many people had a VW bus AND are willing to love a movie on the basis of the vehicle alone? In all honesty, the funniest part of the movie was when they got to CA and the door fell off of the van (and that only got maybe half of a smile).

Perhaps my family wasn't quite disfunctional enough for me to find this terribly amusing, because BOY, it sure wasn't!』

(Hilarious and heart-broken at the same time. Abigail Breslin's so cute, lovely, and innocently funny. It got 2 Oscars in 2007.)
『It contains good dark humour. It won't appeal to many people. Many scenes made me laugh and broke my heart at the same time. It's not suitable for children because of foul language, dirty jokes, and drug scenes.

**** SPOILER. DO NOT READ THIS if you HAVE NOT WATCHED the MOVIE.

For example, in the scene where the grandpa died in the hospital. The lady in charge of the corpse yelled at Greg Kinnear (the father) when he wanted to pospone the burial. She did not want to listen to his explanation why. It brillantly portraited how cruelly sometimes people treat each other. It moved me.

The next scene is hilarious when it showed the family trying to sneak the corpse into their car to continue their trip to California.

The most moving scene was when Abigail walked to her brother who was extremely depressed and sitting on the ground. She then sat down beside him, saying nothing, just leanning on him.

In the last scene, the director cleverly took aim at child-beauty-pageant industry. My stomach hurt when I saw kids from
5-7 years old in heavy makeup did their catwalk. Adults were exploiting kids for their profit and pleasure!

Abigail Breslin was the best actress here. She's so cute, lovely, and innocently funny. She's naturally beautiful without any makeup. Yes, her dance was meant for adults. But in my opinion, it's acceptable and funny. Why was it okay for adults to exploit kids but it's not okay for kids to dance like adults?

No wonder it got 2 Oscars in 2007. One was given to Michael Arndt for original screenplay. The other was given to Alan Arkin for best supporting actor.』

『Take a hilarious ride with the Hoovers, one of the most endearingly fractured families in comedy history.

Father Richard (Greg Kinnear) is desperately trying to sell his motivational success program...with no success. Meanwhile, "pro-honesty" mom Sheryl (Toni Collette) lends support to her eccentric family, including her depressed brother (Steve Carell), fresh out of the hospital after being jilted by his lover. Then there are the younger Hoovers?the seven-year-old, would-be beauty queen Olive (Abigail Breslin) and Dwayne (Paul Dano), a Nietzsche-reading teen who has taken a vow of silence. Topping off the family is the foul-mouthed grandfather (Alan Arkin), whose outrageous behavior recently got him evicted from his retirement home. When Olive is invited to compete in the "Little Miss Sunshine" pageant in far-off California, the family piles into their rusted-out VW bus to rally behind her?with riotously funny results.』
『Pile together a blue-ribbon cast, a screenplay high in quirkiness, and the Sundance stamp of approval, and you've got yourself a crossover indie hit. That formula worked forLittle Miss Sunshine, a frequently hilarious study of family dysfunction. Meet the Hoovers, an Albuquerque clan riddled with depression, hostility, and the tattered remnants of the American Dream; despite their flakiness, they manage to pile into a VW van for a weekend trek to L.A. in order to get moppet daughter Olive (Abigail Breslin) into the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant. Much of the pleasure of this journey comes from watching some skillful comic actors doing their thing: Greg Kinnear and Toni Collette as the parents (he's hoping to become a self-help authority), Alan Arkin as a grandfather all too willing to give uproariously inappropriate advice to a sullen teenage grandson (Paul Dano), and a subdued Steve Carell as a jilted gay professor on the verge of suicide. The film is a crowd-pleaser, and if anything is a little too eager to bend itself in the direction of quirk-loving Sundance audiences; it can feel forced. But the breezy momentum and the ingenious actors help push the material over any bumps in the road.--Robert Horton

(Could have been a lot better)
『The three-year old loves this movie and, quite honestly, that is the only reason to own it. Of course, if you're a parent who would appreciate not exposing your little one to excessive violence, then you still might want to give this one a pass.

I really expected more from it considering it boasted the talents of Hoffman, Jolie, and McShane. Mostly the adults in the room were totally bored and ready for it to be over. Kadden, the three-year old, had a ball with it.

If you must see it, borrow or rent.』

(Two boys' review: Kung Fu inspires kids to follow their dreams)
『MY sons, ages 6 and 4, haven't stopped practicing their Kung Fu moves in our living room, cutting the air with their hands and feet. More importantly, the story's message -- believing in yourself and reaching for your dreams -- is not lost on them.

Po, the titular panda, is often silly but he's never mean-spirited in his pursuit of his destiny. My sons cheered him on as he and the Furious Five took on kung fu warrior Tai Lung.

Most of the laughs occur during Po's training, as he befuddles master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman gets in some great lines here) and offends the Furious Five -- Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Crane and Viper, only to later gain their respect.

This is a fun movie for young kids. Parents can relax knowing it is age-appropriate entertainment that will be enjoyed for repeat viewings.

(Fun, Fun, Fun)
『I had an opportunity to watch Kung Fu Panda with the family last night. The movie was very entertaining with several laugh out loud moments. Po Panda, as voiced by Jack Black, was hilarious with many witty one-liners. Other voice work actors included Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogan, and Dustin Hoffman, excellent as the voice for Kung Fu master Shifu.

The film is rated PG as there are numerous scenes involving martial arts combat. I did not find it too violent for young children over the age of 9 years old. I am sure it would not be bad for younger as well, but that is each parent's call.

The message in the movie was very positive and delivered in a way that was a lot of fun. This is a movie that the entire family can enjoy, as mine sure did.

I give this a strong 4.5 star rating. Great fun, funny, and with a great message. Enjoy!

(Po the Panda is Awesome!!!)
『Kung Fu Panda is awesome!!! Po is cute and funny and the story has a great message. I suggest that everyone buy this great movie! And be on the look out for a sequel in 2010 or 2011!

Kung Fu Panda is my pick to win the Oscar this year. Come on and vote for Po! This is one of the best movies of 2008! Buy it now!』

『Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po works in his family’s noodle shop while daydreaming about becoming a Kung Fu master. His dreams soon become reality when he is unexpectedly chosen to join the world of Kung Fu and study alongside his idols-the legendary fighters Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey-under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it’s up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu hero into reality? Po puts his heart and his girth into the task, and ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.』
『What's a panda to do when his dreams of kung-fu awesomeness awake to the cold reality of noodle-making? Clumsy, overweight Po (Jack Black) dreams of becoming a kung fu master like China's revered "furious five," but instead seems destined to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather in the restaurant business. When great leader Oogway has a vision that the imprisoned kung fu warrior Tai Lung (Ian McShane) will soon escape, he declares it time to choose China's dragon warrior--one kung fu master deemed worthy of possessing the dragon's scroll and its secret to limitless power. Po and all the townspeople rush to the Jade Palace atop the highest mountain to witness the contest between Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogan), Crane (David Cross) and Viper (Lucy Liu), but Po is locked outside the palace. After a miracle of sorts, Po lands inside the palace gates, where he is chosen as the dragon warrior and placed under the tutelage of the decidedly non-plussed master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman). An unconventional student to say the least, hilarity reigns as Shifu tries desperately to make Po into some semblance of a kung fu warrior. Can Po possibly fulfill his destiny as dragon warrior, or was Oogway's final decision a critical mistake? A film rich with hilarious moments, superior animation, and an important message about believing in oneself and the power that comes from within,Kung Fu Pandais great entertainment that will have the whole family laughing and begging for more. (One hell of a sequel!)
『The big red man known as Hellboy (Ron Perlman) with his fellow B.P.R.D. member Abe Sapien (Doug Jones) and girlfriend Liz Sherman (Selma Blair) returns for more monster hunting. This time an evil Elf prince named Nauda (Luke Gross) who lives in the underworld where fairies and other magical beings rule as he has murdered his father and has obtains two special parts of a magical crown to control an ancient army of warriors called The Golden Army who has been said to be industructable beings. The Bearau Of Paranormal Research and Defense leaded by Agent Manning (Jeffery Tambor) with new ectoplasmic spirit creature recruit Dr. Johann Kruass (Voiced by Seth McFarland and played by John Alexander) all join forces with Hellboy, Liz and Abe to investigate the bizarre incidents that occurred in the city of New York. Once they discover a mystical underworld of magic, that's when the battle between good and evil begins as Big Red himself must stop the evil prince before humanity is lost.

A grand and spectacular follow-up to Guillermo Del Toro's brilliant and underrated instant cult horror fantasy comedy adventure "Hellboy" manages to succeeded more then the original. The man who brought you the modern masterpiece "Pan's Labyrinth" Del Toro who co-wrote, produced and directed this movie has delivered another fine film is his as he's now one of the most visionary directors in recent memory. The storyline is quite good including the acting, there's a good sense of humor like the memorable Hellboy singing along to Barry Manillow while being drunk scene. An excellent mix of puppetry, CGI and make-up effects for the imaginative creatures in this feature, a very cool prologue featuring a young Hellboy with a cameo by John Hurt and of course some heart with a moral about power&self-sacrifice with the power of love. The action sequences are also outstanding to go along with this film, now here's a rare sequel that can surpass the original and any fan of fantasy, action, horror and even the comics would enjoy this movie.

This 2-disc Blu-Ray is outstanding stuff as it features mind-blowing picture and sound that will blow you away. (An entertaining horror-comedy blockbuster)
『"Hellboy II", ably directed by Guillermo Del Toro, picks up where the last film left off -- Hellboy is still working for a super-secret government agency in charge of cleaning up (and covering up) supernatural events. And he's still a rebel, blowing things up and punching folks out as the mood strikes him. Del Toro and his crew clearly had a lot of fun making this, with a flippant, what-the-heck attitude coming through in every scene. The film cheerfully references "Lord Of The Rings," "Indiana Jones," "The Mummy" and any number of action-y movies -- including Del Toro's own work, with some demons that look an awful lot like the creepy guys in "Pan's Labyrinth." The easygoing air of not taking things too seriously makes this enjoyable, although the Hellboy series still seems to be finding its legs in some ways, particularly with the characters finding their voices... Selma Blair's Liz character still seems a bit flat, and Ron Perlman occasionally seems to be phoning in his scenes, but Doug Jones steals the show as the aquatic C3PO-ish Abe, and a new character -- the ectoplasmic, half-robotic group leader Krauss -- is a fascinating addition to Hellboy's Scooby Gang. Another sequel is sure to follow, particularly since we've been given tantalizing glimpses of HB's hellish royal lineage. This installment was entertaining -- I'm sure HB3 will be fun as well! (Hellboy II - war is heck)
『I purchased Hellboy II after reading a number of the reviews at Amazon. The first flick was enjoyable and I thought the second would be better. Turns out I was wrong. The special effects were generally good and the action sequences fair to good with the fight scene between the dark elf and HB at the end the most enjoyable. The exception is the an early scene in which HB and crew try to fight off thousands of tiny fairies with single shot pistols - the only victims of the fairy mass attacks were the non-essential characters which makes the fight seem contrived HOWEVER the main problem with HBII is the dialogue which is simple and insipid and utterly lacking in imagination - the humor aims for the lowest common denominator and at times lapses into slapstick - poorly done slapstick at that. My advice - do not buy this movie before you screen it.

(Great Movie)
『Received my copy from amazon last week and is awesome. The Picture is very clear, dark areas looks great, the sound and the extras amazing. You can't cry for it, is a bargain for this price.』
『Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 11/11/2008 Run time: 120 minutes Rating: Pg13』
『The feverishHellboy II: The Golden Armyis a very busy sequel that might have looked unhinged in the hands of a less visionary director than Guillermo del Toro. Ron Perlman returns as Hellboy, aka "Red," the Dark Horse Comics demon-hero with roots in the mythical world but personal ties in the human realm. Still working, as he was inHellboy, for a secret department of the federal government that deals (as in "Men In Black") with forces of the fantastic, Red and his colleagues take on a royal elf (Luke Goss) determined to smash a longtime truce between mankind and the forces of magic. Meanwhile, Red's relationship with girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair), who can burst into flames at will, is going through a rocky stage observed by Red's fishy friend Abe (Doug Jones), himself struck by love in this film. Del Toro brilliantly integrates the ordinary and extraordinary, diving into an extended scene set in a troll market barely hidden behind the façade of typical city streets. He also unleashes a forest monster that devastates an urban neighborhood, but then--interestingly--brings a luminous beauty to the same area as the creature (an "elemental") succumbs to a terrible death. Del Toro's art direction proves masterful, too, in a climactic battle set in a clockworks-like stronghold tucked away in rugged Irish landscape. But it's really the juxtaposition of visual marvels with not-so-unusual relationship issues that givesHellboy IIa certain jaunty appeal hard to find in other superhero movies. --Tom Keogh

Camp Rockis a Disney Channel original movie about a rockin' teen summer camp that's highly appealing to tweens and young teens despite the movie's failure to favorably compare with truly great Disney Channel movies likeHigh School Musical.
