(Please, no sequels. This is just enough and lackluster at best!)
『As Will Smith has become the "King" of the summer blockbuster, you would think the film company and director would produce a proper showing for such high expectations of a superstar. Unfortunately, what you get here is a stellar first hour filled with lots of character development, complex plot lines, so-so acting (we're not lookin for Oscars here) and some tricked out special effects that are mind blowing to say the least.

Then comes the last 40 minutes or so... Right about the time Will Smith gets thrown for a loop in the plot line and everything unravels from then on. I can see why they did this since you can only keep teenage boys' attention for so long before it falls into oblivion. Take a great story and round up all your plot points for one plot point and get to the ending as soon as possible. Quite a shame because there was a lot going for this movie in the beginning. If they had kept that momentum going and used the antagonists like they should have, this would've been a really great film. Unfortunately, it's all fodder by the time the film ends.

I give this movie three stars because of the great first hour and it being truly visionary in it's concept. Unfortunately, it just doesn't earn the other 2 stars to make it a first rate movie, falling short of a cohesive whole. Rent this film and see for yourself but don't buy this one unless you really gotta have every Will Smith movie.』

(HANCOCK is Pure Popcorn Fun!!)
『Superman was raised by a kindly couple and taught the decent way to live and respect life. Thor is the God of thunder who was exiled from his home of eternal Asgard to live on Earth as a mortal so that he may learn humility. Spider-man required personal tragedy so he could realize the responsibility of having powers--Batman deals with his tragedy in a very different way, for him he does what he does for vengeance.

All comic book "super-heroes" have their stories of the "why's", the "how's" and the "what's". Director Peter Berg's "HANCOCK" is a spin on the super-hero genre, together with the screenplay by Vincent Ngo and Vince Gilligan they present a hero not adapted from any line of comic book myth. The film has all the elements of a comic and exudes "popcorn entertainment".

John Hancock (Will Smith) is a man with tremendous powers, he has chosen to use these powers to help people but he has been labeled as a menace in the eyes of the public. He befriends a public relations specialist named Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman) who encourages him to be "nice" and stop acting like a jerk. Despite the protestations of his wife Mary (Charlize Theron) not to get too close, Ray and Hancock forges an uneasy relationship. Hancock is a guy who has no idea exactly how he came to be--he's an immortal with no memory of his past. He is, however, about to find out....

The first act of the film fleshes out the frustrations and anger that Hancock suffers. He is brash, careless, irresponsible, rude, hot-headed and well, a lot arrogant. He carelessly uses his powers to help but for some reason, the people he helps ends up disliking him. Power without responsibility and the ability to use wisely is indeed a menace. He wreaks destruction to property and his exploits prove too expensive for the city so a warrant for his arrest is issued. This aspect has been explored in Marvel's "Civil War" comic mini-series, which delves into a plotline about a required government registration act for super-beings. For in the real world, property damage is a major obstacle for super-heroes. (no wonder they wear masks) The film is sort of a "coming of age" movie, as the character of Ray Embrey becomes his sort of a mentor--ironic that a mere mortal could teach him the ropes of "super-heroing". The film is sort of a social affair and fleshes out the feeling of alienation to those who are different. There is one major plot hole or a perhaps more of a question in the film, a being as powerful as Hancock can be affected by alcohol or does he just act as if he is so impaired? Where does he get his money--does he do anything for a living?

The film is more than your "run of the mill" comic film, it does attempt to find a soul. The origins of Hancock is quite interesting and while it is a tad underdeveloped (no doubt a set up for a sequel) the script does offer quite a few surprises. The film does have a sort of a "love triangle", no doubt to please the female audience. The mystery of Hancock is actually the film's most effective selling point and opens up to a lot of potential, it manages to achieve this for a first installment. There is a touch of tragedy in the film's final act as Hancock has to choose and sacrifice. It is a bit predictable but nonetheless it manages to maintain its forward momentum since the groundwork had been carefully laid out. All heroes have a weakness--this one is sort of a fail-safe for god-like beings. That weakness may be a little undefined and underdeveloped but it was interesting enough to get some emotions going.

The special effects are quite impressive. The flights and exploits of Hancock is pure eye-candy as he crushes and destroys property. I especially loved the scene when he stopped a locomotive as it is a clear example of his single-minded purpose with no regard for anything else. The superhuman fight is quite fun to see but it was just too much special effects that it lacked definition of the combatants. I rather expected a more dragged-out fight than a minor display of special effects. The film has some nice touches of humor--that prison scene that involved two inmates is very amusing although a lot far-fetched and unbelievable. One thing I have to say, Hancock has to watch himself carefully when he has sex.

Will Smith has definitely matured as an actor since his "Fresh Prince" days. The man can indeed act and while it is the same acting style as in his previous movies, he did fit the character. His performance may not be on par as in "The Pursuit of Happyness" but he made best with whatever he had to work with. Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman proves a competent supporting cast; Theron is still as sexy as ever and Bateman is the usual "nice guy" with integrity.

Overall, "HANCOCK" is a lot of fun. The film is very enjoyable and entertaining; while it does have its flaws, the script managed to keep me interested for its entirety. The effective twist is sort of a tragedy and played a key element on its success. The direction by Peter Berg manages to keep an amount of restraint that I commend him for doing so, since some scenes had the dangerous potential to become heavy-handed. The effective chemistry between its performers and the nicely paced action sequences makes it a fun popcorn film. I am pretty sure there will be a sequel since Hancock's character had just started cooking and if there will be a "Hancock 2", consider me all in.

Video/Audio: 2.35 ratio anamorphic widescreen. The image is very good but it looked a little soft on some scenes. I think studios aren't mastering Dvds in High-def for full Picture potential anymore to push the Blu-Ray product. It's a good image but it could have looked a lot better. Maybe it was meant to look this way? The 5.1 Dolby Digital audio is very powerful and fits this kind of movie.
Extras: making of/production notes/seeing the future feature about its storyboard and concepts/Effects concept/backgrounds
The unrated version has an added scene to display Hancock's prowess in bed and contains some more profanity. The added scenes may not add anything significant but it does add a more humorous and gritty feel.

『"Hancock" is two films in one and one of them is much better than the other. Hancock (Will Smith)has super powers but no memory of who he is. He slips into a life of drinking to drown his sorrows--the people he saves don't like him because he seems to screw up every time he saves someone. Luckily Ray Embrey(Jason Bateman) a PR man that Hancock saves decides to save Hancock by making him into a super hero that the people will appreciate. Even Ray's son has taken a shine to Hancock while Ray's
wife Mary (Charlize Theron)appears not to like him.

Director Peter Berg does a nice job with the action sequences and Will Smith continues to prove that he has a lot more to offer dramatically as an actor even in a summer blockbuster like "Hancock". The major flaw in "Hancock" is the uneven tone of the film. It shifts from an almost satirical film about a misanthropic superhero into a darker, morally complex film by the last third. That wouldn't be a problem but the transition is so sudden its almost jarring.

Interestingly, the unrated theatrical version hints at the complexity to come much earlier in the film with one key scene that was trimmed probably for ratings reasons. The unrated version plays better than the rated version but it is also less succinct with a handful of scenes that could easily have been cut because of the repetition in them. Director Peter Berg does a pretty good job of juggling all the themes and shifts in tone throughout the film and if he drops the ball on occasion I think it's understandable because "Hancock" tries to be two very different films often at the same time. The other issue is that there really isn't a bad guy introduced that provides much of a challenge for Hancock.

The Blu-ray looks exceptional with crisp images and colors that pop. Sony has done a exceptional job of transitioning this from the theater to home video. Audio sounds terrific as well with an active 7.1 mix.

The extras are very good. Although we don't get a commentary track, we do a lot of featurettes that take us behind-the-scenes. Aside from getting both the original theatrical version of the film (which has less bad language and a sexual situation removed that IS pretty amusing and also sad at the same time) and the "Unrated" version, we also get a nice mix of featurettes on the production of the film. One observation about the bad language issue--the same result could have been achieved with Hancock being called an "idiot" as an "a-hole" so the use of the latter seems like an excuse to put teens in the seat and get a PG-13 rating (which the film would have gotten anyway for other reasons). When will Hollywood learn that we don't need to hear people spewing foul language out of characters mouths every 5 minutes (particularly in a superhero film that stars kid friendly Will Smith?). I should note that there is also a single disc edition but, beyond the fact that it doesn't have the "unrated" version, I have no idea what special features might be on the disc or missing.

We also get a digital copy of the film (some people will like this extra but I find it useless for the most part) in the second disc. We also get "Superhumans: The Making of Hancock" a promo piece on the making of the film. We also get "Seeing the Future" a 16 minute featurette that can be viewed either as one featurette or in its individual segments.

Visual effects maestro John Dykstra ("Spider-Man" and the original visual effects for "Star Wars: A New Hope" before Lucas messed with it) takes center stage with "Building a Better Hero". "Bumps and Bruises" focuses on the action sequences of the film. We also get "Home Life" and "Suiting Up" which are pretty self explanatory looks at the Embreys and Hancock. Finally actor/director Berg sits in the driver's seat for "Mere Mortals: Behind the Scenes with "Dirty Pete'" focusing on the director's off-beat sense of humor and practical jokes. Rounding out the extras are a series of previews for "The House Bunny" and "Lakeview Terrace" among others.

『If you are a Mac user, do not buy the 2 disc edition as it contains a "digital copy" that cannot be played on Apple computers. I call this a bait and switch since the packaging mentions that it contains a digital copy but does not warn that it cannot be played on Macs. This should be made clear since "iTunes compatible" copies are usually included.
Once again Sony shows why it is still playing catch up in the digital age (computers, mp3 players, video game consoles).』

『Just watched it - for an old sci-fi guy (1963 series of Outer Limits, yup I watched the orginal in B&W) nice plot, moved well - I thought I'd seen it all, but I let the story take me - I thought it was a fun ride with heart.

(Laugh Out Loud Hilarious! (A- Grade))
『Tropic Thunder is one of the best movies of 2008 that I had a ball watching. There are some of Hollywood's best actors in Tropic Thunder to include Robert Downey Jr., who is nearly unrecognizable as Australian actor, Kirk Lazarus, playing African American, Sgt. Osiris, where he has dyed his skin dark and doesn't break away from the character throughout the whole movie. Everyone has talked about Heath Ledger's incredible and mind blowing role as The Joker in The Dark Knight, but Robert Downey Jr. also deserves a lot of praise, and a possible Oscar award nomination for best acting in this role. Surprisingly, Tom Cruise steps out of his comfort zone playing a fat, balding, cursing, movie studio executive, Les Grossman, who steals every scene he is in. Also along for this crazy ride is Jack Black, a drug addicted comedy actor, and Matthew McConaughey, who plays Ben Stiller's agent, and is extremely funny as he is gorgeous. I usually find Ben Stiller a bit annoying in his roles, but here he perfectly embodies the role he is playing, Tugg Speedman, a washed up action star.

Tropic Thunder is about making a movie based on the Vietnam War. The director, Steve Coogan is fed up with his whiny, egotistical actors, and with the help of Nick Nolte, who plays the Vietnam vet the movie is based on, drop the actors in the middle of the jungle to fend for themselves. That is where the fun really begins. Jack Black runs out of heroin, or jelly beans as he calls them, and starts going through detox. Plus, the actors find themselves in the territory of a heroin-producing Vietcong gang, but don't think any of that is real because they still think they are filming the movie.

There are not many comedies like Tropic Thunder that can make me laugh so hard that my stomach hurts. There are also some shockingly funny scenes such as Ben Stiller killing a panda bear and wearing the panda head on his own head because he has gone crazy ala Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now.

Or the conversation Kirk and Tugg have about why Forest Gump and Rain Man did so well for those actors playing mentally handicapped roles, but because Ben played a role where he went full out "retard", it was meant to bomb:


Kirk Lazarus: Everybody knows you never go full retard.
Tugg Speedman: What do you mean?
Kirk Lazarus: Check it out. Dustin Hoffman, 'Rain Man,' look retarded, act retarded, not retarded. Counted toothpicks, cheated cards. Autistic, sho'. Not retarded. You know Tom Hanks, 'Forrest Gump.' Slow, yes. Retarded, maybe. Braces on his legs. But he charmed the pants off Nixon and won a ping-pong competition. That ain't retarded. Peter Sellers, "Being There." Infantile, yes. Retarded, no. You went full retard, man. Never go full retard. You don't buy that? Ask Sean Penn, 2001, "I Am Sam." Remember? Went full retard, went home empty handed...

And of course the way Robert played his role of the Sergeant so perfectly to the point he began to think he truly is a black man lost in the jungle:

Kirk Lazarus: I know what dude I am. I'm the dude playin' the dude, disguised as another dude!
Kirk Lazarus: Man, I don't drop character 'till I done the DVD commentary.

*This is true because I listened to the dvd commentary, and Robert made sure to stay in his role as Osiris*

Tropic Thunder may not be a masterpiece of filmmaking but it is one movie you can have such a great time watching.

『I didn't see this in a theater and I am glad I didn't waste the money. Lots of potty humor and way way too much foul language just for the sake of foul language. It could have been made with much less bad language and been funnier. I gave the movie away to a friend (hope we are still friends after he watches it). Please say there won't be a sequel.

『Obscene, offensive and totally hilarious. "Tropic Thunder" takes an affectionate brickbat to Hollywood's affair with action heroes and war movies, referencing movies as diverse as Platoon and Eddie Murphy's...Nutty Professor!?! Yes, it really does jump all over the cinematic map. It is not as inept a parody as some of the Scary Movie series or knock-offs, which has a lot to do with the script and Ben Stiller's direction.

"Tropic Thunder" stays on a tight leash, filling moments with satirical jabs at both the films in the genre but at the actors themselves. Robert Downey's "blacker-than-you" transformation from a Russell Crowe bad-boy to Richard Roundtree/Fred Williamson blaxploitation star takes stabs at method acting ("I don't break character until after the DVD commentary!") and are the funniest in the movie. But there's nothing more outrageous than Tom Cruise, head shaved and body latexed, as an obnoxious studio head. He steals every scene he pops up in and reminds us all just how effective an actor he is when he isn't jumping up and down on TV couches.

It's the cast that really makes the script work. Everyone in every role plays like an ace, from Stiller, Downey, Jack Black, Jay Baruchel (Kevin Sandusky) and Brandon T. Jackson as rapper Alpa Chino to the support roles filled by the likes of Nick Nolte, Steve Coogan and Tobey McGuire. There's hardly a thing in "Tropic Thunder" that doesn't work, although the easily offended might have their gag reflexes tested by "Satan's Alley," "Simple Jack" or "Half-Squat." As far as taking the wizz out of itself, the only movie of the last few years to match "tropic Thunder" has been The Simpsons Movie. As far as I'm concerned, that's pretty good company.』

『Tropic Thunder is a hiliarious satire of Hollywood. Unfortunately, the extras that are provided with this DVD aren't worth the extra disk enclosed. After viewing the missing and extended scenes, I'm happy that the director chose to remove those parts from the film; they didn't add to the storyline. All-in-all, happy I purchased the DVD.』

『Rarely do I watch movies on the big screen when they first come out. My 55" HDTV, Sony Home Theatre system, and Blu-ray DVD player, provide a much more enjoyable experience than going to the theatre and paying an arm and a leg to sit in stained sticky seats. Although I currently get most of my movies from a popular online rental service, I will buy the ones I enjoy and/or think I'll watch more than once.

Well, after all the hype about Tropic Thunder I came close to purchasing this movie sight unseen. It looked hysterical in the previews and friends who saw it said it was hilarious. Boy am I glad that I got it as a rental first because it was not at all what I expected and to tell you the truth I was kind of disappointed in it. From the reviews, and from what people had said about the movie, I expected it to be much funnier and less serious than it turned out to be. I think I was expecting "Stripes" 2008 and I was shocked when I didn't even chuckle during the first half hour. In fact the first seen was so disgusting that I almost turned the movie off. The reproduction of gore for accuracy, as in Private Ryan, is bearable but the reproduction of war-related gore in an attempt at humor is completely unnecessary and in this case disgusting.

So, I thought "it's a slow starter" but it never did get what I consider truly funny. In addition, I must've missed the "slap-stick" that other reviewers have mentioned. Finally, to compare it to Blazing Saddles is so much of a stretch it's unbelievable. Tropic Thunder is not in any way similar to the afforementioned gut-busting Mel Brooks film. To me, I would classify it more as an action film with a dab of humor thrown into the mix. I expected a lot more from what I'd heard and from Ben Stiller.

On the other hand, the Blu-Ray version of this film is unbelievable. The Blu-ray format really lends itself to the many hues of jungle scenery.』

『It's not really a knock to say that nothing inTropic Thunderis funnier than its first five minutes, so sly that--especially for people watching in theaters--you don't realize right away theyarethe opening minutes of the movie. This outrageous comedy begins with a series of fake previews, each introducing one of the main characters in the film-proper (not that there's anything proper about this film) and each bearing the familiar logo of a different motion picture studio: Universal, DreamWorks SKG, et al. Such playing fast and loose with corporate talismans verges on sacrilege, but it's an index of how much le tout Tinseltown endorses the movie as a demented valentine to itself. The premise is that the cast of a would-be "Son of Rambo" movie shooting in some Southeast Asian jungle get into a real shooting war with drug-smuggling montagnards. Don't ask--though the movie does have an answer--why such highly paid, usually ultra-pampered personnel as superhero Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller), Mozart of fart comedy Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black), hip-hop artist Alpa Chino (Brandon T. Jackson), and five-time Oscar-winner Kirk Lazarus from Aus-try-leeah (Robert Downey Jr.) should be running through the jungle unattended and very vulnerable. It matters only that the real-life cast has a high time kidding their own profession and flexing their comedic muscles. Bonus points go to Stiller for co-writing the script (with Justin Theroux) and directing, and to Downey, brilliant as a white actor surgically turned black actor for his role and utterly committed to staying in character no matter what ("I don't drop character till I done the DVD commentary").

Be warned: The movie, too, is committed--to being an equal-opportunity offender. Its political incorrectness extends not only to Lazarus's black-like-me posturing but also Speedman's recent, Sean Penn–style Oscar bid playing a cognitively challenged farmboy--or, in Lazarus's deathless phrase, "going the full retard." Others in the cast include Steve Coogan as a director out of his depth, Nick Nolte as the Viet-vet novelist whose book inspired the film-within-the-film, Matthew McConaughey as Speedman's sun-blissed agent back home, and Tom Cruise--bald, fat-suited, and profane--as an epically repulsive studio head. Two hours running time is a mite excessive, but otherwise, what's not to like?--Richard T. Jameson

『This is the story of young Kit Kitridge, whose family is fairly well-to-do, but suddenly finds themselves in a financial crisis during the Great Depression. The father is forced to seek work in another city, while the family takes in boarders to help with expenses. It's a very true-to-life example of how life really was during the 1930s.
This is a movie the whole family can enjoy together, and is a great "learning" film.』

『This was a great movie about a young girl living during The Great Depression (1930's). Kit is a young girl pursuing her own dreams even in a world which is becoming more and more hopeless as the Great Depression deepens. It's a great story of holding onto hope, acting as junior detectives and understanding the value of friends of family, no matter who they are.』

『I liked this movie because it was centered on Cincinnati, OH. My family lived there during the depression. Very good lessons were taught about how to treat people.』

『I didn't think I was going to enjoy this movie when I was asked to watch it with my family but I was wrong. The background is the Geat Depression and let me tell you that they did such a good job at bringing out the problems of the times and the emotions of the people that I was glued to the TV set.
We meet Kit, a nine-year old whose father must leave home to find work and whose mother must take in boarders, who are quite colorful and add much to the movie, sell eggs, and cut corners everyway she can to make ends meet.
Kit is not your usual young girl but one who has a heart for writing and who is determined to get her stories in print one day. She befriends two Hobo children who come to do work for her mother for food.Unfortunately there is a rash of robberies and Kit's mother's lockbox is stolen. Now the blame is being put on her Hobo friend, Will.
In Kit's heart she knows that Will did not do it but she could not prove it until that fateful day when by sheer accident she finds out who the real robbers are. Now Kit and her friends must get the lockbox and get away from the 'bad guys.'
This is a great movie, it has character all its own that will just keep you rushing with all sorts of emotions as you watch. The actors do a top-notch job and are more colorful than in many other movies I have seen of late. We have friendships, mystery, hard times all blended together to bring a movie that is both heart-warming and eye-opening in so many ways.
I am proud to recommend this movie to you and sincerely hope that you will watch it and enjoy it as much as my family and I did.

『24 Redemption is a great 'movie', it's 24 at it's best. I definitely recommend it, but not for the extras. The 'extended version' is a few extra seconds here and there, and other than that it's just an extra 6-8 minutes of credits. Not much of the other stuff on the dvd is really worth watching, except the main feature, of course. And don't fall for the "2 hour event" promo. It's 87 minutes.
But anyway, any 24 fan should have it.』

『24: Redemption This is the sorriest 24 movie to date. It was advertized as 2 hours, it was 86 minutes. It had a broadcast version and an extended version. The only difference was the extended version had an introductory segment of season 7. The actual movie on both versions was identical. This was a huge Fox ripoff and is the last Fox movie I will ever buy. If you're smart, you would bypass this one!』

『Let's be honest, shall we? A majority of us were holding our breath, remembering the note 24 left off on, remembering the strike and how long it's been since the last time Jack embarked on a mission to protect the better half. 24: Redemption was promoted as a movie that would connect Seasons 6 and 7 and lead us into a new era of the show. For me, it turned out to be a lot more than that.

Let's put aside the fact that the cause Jack was fighting for is an actual problem in today's world. This prequel hit home for me; many of us have been victimized by that empty feeling like we're unappreciated, that we have no one and that our life's purpose hasn't been fulfilled. You're immediately led to believe that this is what's led Jack Bauer to Sangala, that he's emotionally broken and wandering from place to place searching for himself. Just prior to his next move, he gets caught up in an aggressive pursuit for the formation of a slave army.

While the vintage 24 action is, at best, scarce, you still get your dose. Jack takes on General Benjamin Juma and his army in order to protect a school of children, including those of an old friend. What do we find out? You can't teach an old dog new tricks. Jack Bauer may be searching for peace, but he's still a trained killer and a man who fights for the greater good.

For me, the first sign that this wouldn't be a disappointment was when you found out it was still done in real time. Led to believe it was structured like a movie, I wondered how differently 24 would play out without the clock. However, I was pleased to discover that this two hour event had all the bells and whistles that's made 24 great over the years, and hopefully even more epic in 2009. This was a fantastic prequel. What amazed me most about it was that aside from President Daniels and Tom Lennox, who we only met in Season 6, there were no old 24 characters. I'm looking forward to the return of Tony, Chloe O'Brien, the mother, and Kim Bauer among others. It should be a great year for the best show on TV.

The stars remained true to the characters they had created for television and we watched them grow into their new lives and still remaining best friends. The men in their lives understood this sisterhood and embrassed it, therefore becoming integral to these women. All said I have watched this movie three or four times so far and all of my girl friends have equally enjoyed it. Give it a 4 star, hands down.』

(The Force Is With Me)
『Here we go again. Another star wars movie with a twist...its animated. I am not a avid star wars fan, however, I have seen the new trilogy not the old one. I was excited to finally see this movie and I wasn't disappointed. The plot was simplistic at best and wasn't bombarded with idle chit-chat. It was a thrill ride from beginning to end, I don't care about the naysayers have to say. I felt that the movie was fresh, a nice change of pace, amazing feature film. The action never stifled or faltered it kept up with the film. The relationship between Anakin and the padawan was incredibly deep and moving. I felt a connection and was rewarded. If you are a crazed star wars fan you will nick pick this movie to death. Watch this movie because it was to the point and filled with action. I recommend this film.』

『I just finished watching `The Clone Wars'&to be honest it was pretty good. No it's not as good as the movies&it's not as intense as the Samurai Jack-esk `Clone Wars' shorts from 2003 but then again it's NOT supposed to be like ANY of those. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
ALSO keep in mind that Lucas is trying to broaden his appeal to kids with this movie's style&story telling as well as with the series on CTN so it's going to be, over all, a bit more simple in its execution but no less entertaining. Don't watch this expecting an Oscar performance. It is a CGI CARTOON! how frick'n serious/ critical are you supposed to take it? The action has more of an Episode 2 feel to it, for me at least, but the action sequences are just as long, fun&still `edgy' for a kid's CGI cartoon. They flowed well&were non-stop action. Clone troopers got it pretty bad in this movie and the lightsaber fights left me wanting more. They were pretty good for CGI though. It held my interest. The dialogue could have used a little help but what star wars movie couldn't? I wouldn't recommend buying this movie until you see it first but if you keep in mind the target audience is more kid than adult&remember what this movie is supposed to be/ do&you don't take it as seriously as some, then you should have fun&you'll be just fine. Anakin's apprentice is there for the young girls as well as to be the little miss know it all pain in the butt for Anakin the way he was to Ben (it's called irony). She does shoot her mouth off a bit much so she may be a bit annoying for some out there (I didn't find her that annoying but she could use some work) but comparable to jar jar? Not even close.
`TCW' story line isn't a major one in the Star Wars universe; it feels more like a made for TV movie, but it does initiate the TV series so there is a broader story to set up here as well.
Simple, aims at a broader audience (hint.... kids)&still a fun watch, if only once, in my opinion.
I say rent it first, watch it for what it is&go from there.

『I have been a fan of the Star Wars Saga since the very beginning. I have loved all the popular movie characters just like every other big fan and had no interest in seeing the cartoon (really!). I went to see the movie only because my kids wanted to see it (and they are too young to go by themselves!). Despite myself, I was really impressed. It was pretty awesome which is saying something when you consider how many movies one sees by the time one is "middle-aged"! I think this is just the style of medium George Lukas needs to convey the rest of the story. Animation is just so versatile! Good show George and Thanks!』

(Not Your Father's Star Wars)
『I like animated films..not just from Disney, even some computer animation films like Toy Story. However when it comes to this animated version of the Clone Wars, I suggest you use the force and pass this dvd by. The animation of this film reminds me of the WII, Playstation or DS versions of the Force Unleased game. This animation is one step up from Lego Star Wars


The action in this film is filled with action dog fights in space and battles on the ground with a pencil thin plot of the Jedis saving the kidnapped Jabba the Hut's child.


So why else didn't I like it? I love the Cartoon Network's original Clone Wars ( Star Wars - Clone Wars, Vol. 1) that was done a few years ago. This film is a pilot for the new Cartoon Network series. If this film is an example what to expect in the future I would pass on the series.

The character interplay is weak at best. Ankin and Ben seems more disrespectful to each other, not like in the movies. Ankin is also saddled with his own Padawan. She seems over cocky like he is..and since she isnt in the live action movies...well you can read the handwritting on animated wall


The Vocal talents of Samuel Jackson and Christopher Lee is wasted in this cartoon.

So if you are a fan of Star Warsin general, here is another film to add to your collection. I wont say it is worth no stars, but I wont say it was five star either.. SO Use the FORCE and make the right choice. However after seeing this DVD, my JEDI sense says AVOID young Jedi
