IPhone 3G used's review (One of the best movies ever) 『This used to be on television about a hundred times a year until somebody realized that it diminished its value. Now rarely on tv, this dvd is an entertaining, heart-warming story. It only takes a viewing of this movie spectacular to put me right in the mood for Christmas. James Stewart plays George Bailey who has led his entire life giving of himself to help others when a banking error by his uncle could end it all for poor George.
An angel comes to his rescue and shows George what life would have been without him. With the beautiful Donna Reed as his wife and gruff and mean Mr. Potter played by the highly talented Lionel Barrymore, this dvd is a must for any collection, and epecially any library of Christmas classics.』
(If This Movie Doesn't Get To You, You Just Don't Get Christmas.) 『Frank Capra's meditation on the connections each man builds to those around him is the pure, distilled essence of holiday spirit. In a world that's forever beating us down with reminders of our isolation and of the lack of meaning in our lives, this is a bright and shiny rebuttal.
I don't know that anyone but Jimmy Stewart could play the nice guy who always does the right thing and inject that character with the darkness necessary to turn a schmaltzy premise into a profound statement of each man's place in his world. A great supporting cast (including Thomas Mitchell, Gloria Grahame, Ward Bond, Henry Travers and Beulah Bondi) led by a brilliant director. Nicely remastered print. And while the extra features were just lifted from 80s TV broadcasts, they do have interesting information in them.』
(It's a Wonderful Life) 『This a wonderful movie in my families opinion, it has a very powerful example of values this worlds population has lost to some degree over the years and we need to return to if we plan to have a rich full life. I search for years to find this movie I watched with my family when I was young, and now watch with my kids each Christmas always attempting to regain what we have lost over the years, The value of love for family, friends, and all others that touch our lives.
What more can I say get it watch it and you will know what I mean.』
(Adding Color To A Classic) 『What else can be said about this film? It's a classic amongst classics. I'm not usually a fan of colorization, but the studio did a great job with this film. It looks like it was shot in color. I highly recommend that everyone rent it or buy it.』
(It's a Wonderful Life (60th Anniversary Edition)) 『I just love this movie. You can't have enough great black and white classics at home. :)』 『Now perhaps the most beloved American film,It's a Wonderful Lifewas largely forgotten for years, due to a copyright quirk. Only in the late 1970s did it find its audience through repeated TV showings. Frank Capra's masterwork deserves its status as a feel-good communal event, but it is also one of the most fascinating films in the American cinema, a multilayered work of Dickensian density. George Bailey (played superbly by James Stewart) grows up in the small town of Bedford Falls, dreaming dreams of adventure and travel, but circumstances conspire to keep him enslaved to his home turf. Frustrated by his life, and haunted by an impending scandal, George prepares to commit suicide on Christmas Eve. A heavenly messenger (Henry Travers) arrives to show him a vision: what the world would have been like if George had never been born. The sequence is a vivid depiction of the American Dream gone bad, and probably the wildest thing Capra ever shot (the director's optimistic vision may have darkened during his experiences making military films in World War II). Capra's triumph is to acknowledge the difficulties and disappointments of life, while affirming--in the teary-eyed final reel--his cherished values of friendship and individual achievement. It's a Wonderful Lifewas not a big hit on its initial release, and it won no Oscars (Capra and Stewart were nominated); but it continues to weave a special magic.--Robert Horton』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Vincent Price. Need I Say More?) 『Vincent Price, the master of horror himself, stars in the original (and, in my opinion, far superior) 1964 adaptation of the acclaimed science fiction novel, I Am Legend. What ensues is both a fantastic film exploring the human psyche and an opportunity for Price to spend the entire runtime demonstrating his considerable acting talent to enthralled audiences. Any fan of Price will be captivated by his emotion-laden and occasionally campy performance.
The colorization process applied to this DVD by Legend Films is as flawless as I am able to discern. In fact, without knowing beforehand that the film was colorized decades after the fact, it would be nearly impossible to tell that this was originally a black and white film (though, as is their standard for all colorized releases, Legend includes the black and white version on the same disc). Nostalgic value aside, I would venture that few of you will actually choose to watch the black and white after seeing it side by side with the color version.
And, to the adulation of Price fans such as myself, the disc contains a special featurette hosted by the man himself, entitled It Happened in Hollywood. It appears this was an old television show where Price would analyze and explain what elements composed various film genres. In the included episode, Price takes a look at Westerns&looks quite dashing himself in a cowboy getup.』
(NOT THE VERSION TO BUY IF YOU ONLY WANT THE B/W MOVIE) 『If you're looking for the best B/W version of this film on DVD, then either of the two MGM DVD's, is the way to go, but if you want it in colour, then the Legend Films disc is sufficiently colorized for your viewing pleasure.
I have both of the MGM DVD's, and just got in the Legend Film one to do a comparison, seeing as no one else had done one, and I was stupidly enticed by the, "includes restored original black&white version" that was written on the top of the rather badly done DVD cover (the MGM, The Last Man on Earth movie only edition, has a better cover, still not the greatest, but better than this cover),
Here's the lowdown, it looks like the exact same print was used for all three DVD's, with the exception that the Legend Films picture has a couple of incidental dirt specs removed at the very beginning of the film (like 3 or 4 in a 5 minute span) but in return, the picture is just a touch softer then the MGM image (where as the MGM image quality is very crisp over all) and a slightly tighter frame around the widescreen.
Yes, and erroneously, the DVD cover states the film is full screen, but it's actually the widescreen version in both the B/W and colour versions.
Another problem with the Legend version, is that even though they seem to make a big stink on the cover about the B/W version, in actuality, the B/W movie has a play only option, with no chapter stop menu (although you can skip forward using your remote, at what looks to be around 5 minute increments) and I was unable to use the, "goto" feature on my remote to jump to a specific time point in the B/W film (the scene select in the DVD menu, only allow you to jump to scenes in the colorized version).
As for the colorized version, the colours are dark pastels, as per most colorized drivel, kind of reminding me of the early 2 strip Technicolor process, used before the 3 strip process was invented, which gave skin tones a tanned, orange/brown look, and muted all of the other colours.
So, the MGM DVD is the way to go for serious lovers of this film, but for novices who might want the novelty of the colorized version, then the Legend DVD is an okay second choice.
Hope this helps :)』 『Screen legend Vincent Price stars in this, the first, and finest, adaptation of Richard Matheson's classic horror/sci-fi novel I Am Legend. After a plague wipes out the human race, Dr. Robert Morgan (Price) struggles with loneliness - and his sanity as the monotony of the unending days broken only by his daily hunts for vampires! One day on his solitary travels he runs across another human: is she a mirage, or real? This existential masterpiece ratchets up the tension, and keeps it up, until the last thrilling frame.』

Usually ships in 9 to 13 days IPhone 3G used's review (J.E.) 『I am a big fan of the group. This is a great selection of videos but quite a disappointment because of too many re-mixes. Jagged Edge's main qualities are smooth ballads such as 'Gotta Be,''What's it like,' and 'Promise' etc. Re-mixes are great to listen to but seem ridiculous on video as the performers' dance routines are always out-of-sync with the beat and lyrics. This collection could have been much better had it also included ballads like 'Without You,''Girl its over' and 'I don't wanna.' Hoping for another unleash soon!!』
(All the hot videos) 『Jagged Edge still has the potential to be one of the biggest groups in R&B. After four classic albums they released a greatest hits video collection. Like a previous reviewer said it would have been cool to see some live footage and get some slow jam remixes instead of the bass ones.』
(one of the best DVDs Ive bought) 『When I first heard of Jagged Edge I didn't pay much attention to em. Then a couple years ago I heard the Remarqable Remix of Lets Get Married n fell in love. Found out who sang the song n ordered two cd's to get it. I barely listened to most of Jagged Littel Thrill n found that they sing a lot of songs I like n wanted but couldnt get cuz I didnt know who it was. This DVD is great cuz the videos are ones Ive never seen. I was disappointed the video for the original version of Where The Party At wasn't included n the lack of interviews stinks but overall having 13 videos made up for that. All in all if all you need to be happy is videos this is a good choice.』
(A cool video collection but no where the party at) 『A must for Jagged Edge fans all the videos are on this DVD except for the original version of Where the party at, instead the powers that be felt the need to put the awful 11-01-01 Dupri remix video instead. Another big disapointment was lack of anything else like interviews or concert footage on the DVD but you can't have it all i guess.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Some Misunderstandings Here!) 『Columbia would not be apt to put a shabby B&W version of a public domain title simply to thwart people from copying a short like 'Disorder In The Court'. The person's comment was not well thought out, and just a mntal misfire! If they were to do that, people could still simply use the restored colorized version and desaturate it to B&W, a very simple process that could be done with readily available video software-some free!』
(You won't laugh at this turkey!) 『If you bought this useless DVD already, then I have some bad news for ya! This only has two shorts, and all four public domain shorts are now available on a single DVD, restored, in color, and in B&W! It was released in early 2005 on 20th Century Fox, and for the same price as this joke! It's called "Three Stooges In Color", and is available right here at Amazon! If you're considering buying this, buy the other one instead, or I'll tear your tonsils out! Sure, three of those shorts feature Shemp, but who back then could get away with saying "Go on, sister, or I'll knock your brains out!" on film?!』
(Not Very Good) 『Disorder In The Court & Brideless Groom
Those are the only two comedy shorts on the entire disc; what was the point?
Not a bad idea for a DVD release, but come on...fill the DVD up more. This was just a waste.
』
(Not the best....wait for the Columbia issues!) 『Avoid this dvd at all costs. West Wing took PD quality film prints and colorized them, and it looks horrible. Plus there are only TWO shorts on the dvd. This dvd was discontinued by the company because it was SUPPOSED to be withdrawn, but they figured they'd make some money selling them in cutout bins and such. If you can hold off for a few more months, Columbia will be issuing ALL FOUR public domain shorts from the COLUMBIA prints in February, so the quality will be as great as the previous two Columbia dvds. To answer a question from another reviewer, because the shorts are public domain, West Wing had the right to colorize them and not pay for these....however once the Columbia dvd comes out, i believe the colorized good quality versions will be under copyright again while the black and white versions will still be public domain. My guess is that maybe Columbia will use the high quality print for the colorized version, and a generic regular PD print for the black and white version, so that no one can steal it and make money off of Columbia's prints.』
(Not Bad...) 『I just bought this the other day and found it in a bargain bin. Yes, I agree that these public domain shorts have seen very wide circulation already and have been issued again for the umpteenth time, and it's also apparent that quality control is lacking a bit with the colorization process this time, but considering how cheap it is, it's really not bad. The other numerous black&white versions of these 2 and 2 other public domain shorts that are usually packaged with them are of much worse quality all around. Only proves again that you simply get what you pay for.
My only question is are these 2 shorts eventually going to make it onto an "official" Columbia/Tristar DVD release in both color and black&white versions, or did West Wing Studios do these on their own? I'm assuming that they would have to have permission in some form or other from Columbia, but you just never know. Low-budget releases like these have a tendency to go just as quickly as they come, because practically anyone with a DVD recorder/burner and compression&authoring software can pump these out in large amounts, make a quick buck and then fade from sight.』

(Special Features?) 『I know I should just read harder, but are there special features with the first movie included in this set?』
(Let's just hope...) 『Let's just hope they got the transfer done nice and clean this time as the THX anamorphic release done a few years ago had picture problems with Fight the future. No matter where I purchased it.(8 different copies) They all had the same problem. A line going across the screen just about the middle of the picture for the first half of the movie.(Seemed to be a layer problem as when the layer changed at the dead end road before the train scene it went away) FOX says we have never heard about or seen this problem but they would not watch the disc when I ask them to as well. THX won't even respond as well. The first release that was letterbox (4x3) format was clean no problem there but the anamorphic picture is much better when made correctly plus they added DTS to that as well. I have high hope's it will look great on Blu-Ray. We will see.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Brains...) 『What more needs to be said about Night of the Living Dead? The word "cult-classic" is practically defined through the experience of watching Romero's magnum opus...
Nevertheless, for the savvy shopper, this is perhaps the best version of the film to-date, because it's essentially a three for one. Not only do you get the original black and white film in all of its terrible glory, but this new DVD release also contains a newly colorized version (that also features 5.1 surround sound) that provides a completely different viewing experience for even the most ardent fan, and is that much more likely to interest the younger generation. Additionally, this version contains a hilarious, heckling "audio commentary" by Mike Nelson, of Mystery Science Theater 3000 fame. The commentary itself is worth buying in of itself, as anyone who has chanced across MST3K before can attest.
From what I can tell, this version is the best bang for you buck, since you get those three distinct experiences for the same money as just buying the black and white version. Get to it!』 『This is one of the true cult classics and one of the scariest movies of all time. The dead are walking and hunger for human flesh. A group of panicked survivors are barricaded in a deserted farmhouse while the army of flesh eating zombies hovers outside their door. This over-the-top disk includes a restored original black and white version, and a color version that will thrill the horror film fan and horrify the film purist.
