(Universal fumbles.... again.)
『I must start by saying that this is by far the best show on television... EVER. The bomb they drop on us at the end of season 4.0 is still resonating inside my head. I'm desperately looking forward to the conclusion of this series. While disappointed that the show is coming to an end, I'm happy to see the show go out on it's own terms and not drag on&on (see last two seasons of X Files). The character development by the writers along with engaging storylines and top notch special effects make this the best thing ever to come out of the idiot box.

The reason I don't give this 5 stars:
1. Why does Universal insist on releasing these discs right before the next season begins? If you want to refresh your memory before the season begins you have just a few days to cram all the previous episodes in.

2. I have bought every iteration of this series the day that they came out... until this year. I'm sick and tired of the studios dragging their feet on the High Definition releases of these great programs. I'm waiting for the BluRay versions. The HD transfer does exist... I've been catching a few episodes on UHD over the past year... so why wait and only release a DVD version of this series right now? Oh yeah... greed. In these tough times I just can't justify buying this season right now knowing that eventually there will be a Blu Ray version, thus requiring me to buy the shows AGAIN. I'm done playing that game....』

(Dumbest Ending Ever!)
『I haven't seen the DVDs but I'm sure they are good. They always have good bonus footage and commentaries. I did see every episode on Sci-Fi network and I have to say it was definitely not the best season to say the least. I did like all the other seasons however.

I won't ruin it of course but the ending was a huge let down to say the least. Up until then it was okay, maybe 3.5 stars but after that dumb ending I can give it no more than two. In fact after I saw that ending I wondered why I had wasted time watching this series in the first place. It was both dumb and predictible.

If you are buying this as a gift for a BG fan then I think they will like it because the DVDs are great and include a lot more than just the episodes. I haven't seen these DVDs but if they are like the others then I think it's a great gift. Plus if they don't like the ending too then they don't have to feel bad about wasting their money to see it, they would have wasted yours instead lol.

(Momentum)
『Regarding season 4.0, the show does take you to an incredibly dark place, but one that is extremely well acted and thrilling to watch. A point that I'd like to make (and one that fewer reviewers have commented on) is that season 4.0 also had many touching, even sweet, moments for many of the characters. Don't get me wrong, the overall theme of season 4.0 is dark and gritty, but there are definitely rich undercurrents of hope, love, and humanity that are equally powerful. As a viewer, I did feel like season 4.0 drastically increased in momentum, even speeding toward the last few episodes (which felt a little jolting to me), but it definitely promises to leave you with your mouth hanging open at the season finale. As many others have noted, BSG is a fantastic series and one that many of us are sad to see come to an end. If you are a fan of the show, season 4.0 will not disappoint.』

(is BSG ever coming to BLU RAY?)
『I see universal is finally putting season 4 or better said half of season 4 out on dvd--but before i plunk down my downward spiral economic limited edition cash for this set--does anyone know should i just hold out fot a blu ray edition--i am one of those idiots who buys a new edition dvd for something added--not to mention converting some of my library to BLU RAY--but times are tough and i am trying to be logical and wait for the set i want--so any BSG BLU RAY info anyone?--By the way season 4 AWESOME. Only negative thing i gotta say is they made us wait so long to finish it.』

(BSG is my God)
『The series is coming to a close soon and it's hard to fathom. The best scifi on TV, heck the best of TV in general, is going away and I'm going to be devastated. If you have watched Battlestar at all, you know how good it is and you don't need me to tell you. If you haven't watched it yet, you are missing out on a legend. Go - buy season 1 and start from the beginning. I envy you the excitement and anticipation you will feel about "what will come next". It's intoxicating. Battlestar had me from the mini-series. It's above and beyond any level of telivision show I ever expected. It's beyond great. I can not recommend enough to go and watch this series.』

(Anti USA war history revisionist documentary)
『The narrator goes on and on spitting out his own version of history where the dumb Americans win the war because they out produce the even dumber Japanese. It looks like he just got some video editing software and edited out free public domain movies and stuck them together with his own voice over. Do a search on it " Marines at tawara" and you will get to the other public domain archives. According to this movie the Brits had the war won and they were fighting all over the pacific and the sneaky evil USA come in wreck it for them and get all the credit. Ha ha ha. He goes on to add "the USA didnt understand the japanese were willing to die? False. The USA mascared the japanese for no reason in bombing raids!" False. He adds insult to injury and says the American economy was booming and that the Americans were partying at home while there boys were dieing overseas. Stupid. There families where missing there sons and daughters. He forgets to add that for every marine on the ground there were 4 sailors to get him there and thats not including the war industry at home. He forgets to add they had rationing in the USA to help them win. He doesn't mention the usa had one victory after another. Give this a skip. After watching this movie you would think the USA lost.』

(Still Finding new color video)
『I am amazed that new color WW2 video is still being discovered. Both the film content&film quality is superb. Most of the color content is new to me,&I have seen the other better known color war docs such as "The Color of War", etc. I never knew the Doolittle bombers taking off of the Hornet were filmed in color. And I never saw a B-29 do a water landing before.』

(Mindblowing)
『I agree with the previous reviewer that the European conceptualization of the war in the Pacific theater (and the narration) are a bit out of sync with it's American counterpart, BUT this footage is MINDBLOWING.

For those of use who grew up with a black and white version of the war, and what was happening stateside, this is an INCREDIBLE resource.

All of a sudden it's just more "real". The weapons and materiel of war look more ominous and devasting in lush, living and breathing color.

The grunts in the jungle all of a sudden look more human- and reminiscent of the later war in Vietnam.

In one respect I think the "European Perspective" adds value to this presentation- I doubt that in an American version we'd see things that make us look less than heroic- like a bunch of jarheads getting trashed on hooch and frolicking in the surf. Also, there's some stunning footage of Japanese civilians killing themselves during one of the island campaigns.

This is a MUST have. However, like any historical document, you should always follow up on your own about anything that irks you. My advice is to go talk to a vet while you still can.』

(Allan Ames)
『This DVD delivers in that all of the content is in original color. For this reason it's worth the price and then some. The writing (French) and the narration (British) are another thing. These folks don't know a thing about the Pacific War and don't want to know. Just hit the mute button and enjoy the Kodachrome movies of the American (and Japanese) home front and battlefront like you have not seen before. Highly recommended.』
『For years the world has watched films of World War II in black and white. Now for the first time, follow alongside those who experienced the war first hand in this remarkable and moving documentary revealing never-before-seen footage shot in full color.

In 1939 French citizens enjoyed a peaceful life. In mere months they would be at war and within a year, conquered by Germany. From the tranquil times before the war, through the German Occupation and liberation of Europe, experience scenes of civilian daily life; footage of Hitler recorded by Eva Braun; military maneuvers documented by Hollywood directors Darryl Zanuck and George Stevens; celebrity visits by Ernest Hemingway, Edward G. Robinson and Clark Gable; and much more.』

(great tape)
『this cd is great! for those of you who don't like to exercise, this tape will help you succeed in your work-out methods. as soon as you feel you can't do another leg lift, or arm stretch, leslie goes back to walking. it's as if she knows when you're getting tired and will take you back to walking. it's great for beginners or for those of us who slacked up; it's a good jumpstart and very low impact. this is the easiest form of exercise i've done, yet i still feel the burn so i know it's working. you won't mind doing this and the best thing about it is that you can do it in the privacy of your own home, office, etc, and it's over in 30 minutes. by the time you get into it it's over! buy it! it's worth it!』

(Two express walking programs incoporating upper body work)
『This DVD contains two express walking programs, the 1 Mile "Easy Walk" and the 2 Mile "Brisk Walk." Both programs utilize a strechie band to work on upper body strengthening as you walk. The Easy Walk program contains about 16 minutes of walking followed by a 2 minute stretch. The walking part includes Leslie's 4 basic steps--walk (march), side step, front kick, and knee up--and spends some time at a brisker pace; the band is used for just a few exercises in the second half mile. The Brisk Walk program involves 29 minutes of walking followed by 3 minutes of stretching. You'll spend longer time at a greater intensity and do a bit more with the band, but again, the band is only used for the second half of the workout. These are nice programs that are particularly ideal for those short on time and wanting to mix in some light strength training with their cardio workouts. Also, the Easy Walk would be especially appropriate for beginners, but even more advanced exercisers will still work up a sweat. Highly recommended.』

(Go for a walk -- indoors!)
『I received this DVD as a Christmas gift from my walking partner. I wondered how interesting can a walking program DVD be?

I was pleased to find that Leslie Sansone's walking program was not only interesting, providing enough variations in movement to keep boredom from setting in, but when choosing the "brisk walk" I got a great cardio workout as well.

This is a good starter workout, simple enough for the most sedentary couch potato to follow -- allowing you to adapt the workout to your ability and comfort level. It's also a good DVD for avid walkers who want an option to be able to take their walk indoors when the weather doesn't permit a stroll outdoors.

However, if you're looking for a HEAVY cardio workout, this DVD probably isn't for you.

Even in the land of the sun and surf, Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate. When she doesn't -- reach for the "Walk Away the Pounds Express" DVD and go for a walk indoors!』

(Great for infant to toddler)
『My daughter starting watching this about 8-9 months, it was the only thing that could keep her totally focused if I was getting things done or trying to settle her down. She took it all in and really learned from it. The children on the show are adorable and help keep her focused. We know use the animals and ABC's and she can say her alphabet and repeats all the animal sounds with the children. We love this compared to Baby Einstein products.』

There are lots of kids on the DVD from a newborn to 4 years old and we all know kids love watching other kids. It's narrated, there are lots of rhyms in the narration and the music is nice in the background. When showing any of the topics, such as colors, the word is shown on the screen. (Outstanding)
『I watched the whole thing in one sitting. Great footage, most of which I've never seen before.

The reviewer which gave this DVD a poor rating was mostly critial about the 'extra's'- that is were you'll find the 85 minute Memphis Belle story (which includes the visit to the crew by the King and Queen). This DVD is 'well' worth the money.』

(I like colors)
『We have always seen the Second World War in black and white but why not a little bit in colors, the way that are parents and grand parents have seen it the streets, in the air and on the sea. Shooted some time by ordinary people, it is a different point ov view about the war. Very interesting if you are interested by the real story.』

(Title is, perhaps, deceptively misleading!)
『The actual content of this Video/DVD is very good - as is the majority of the quality of the photography.
However, while the title is 'The British Story', this is only partly true - and, then, only in the beginning. The final 85 minutes, or so, is devoted to the last bombing raid of the Memphis Belle - in itself a marvelous, interesting, and thoroughly praiseworthy incident in the war. But, except that the planes engaged in the raid took off and landed in the UK, there is nothing whatsoever British' about this memorable incident. Before this, about 50 minutes are takekn up with various photographic shots of Britian taken during the war - however, with absolutely no commentary, there was no sense or reason for this 'Tourist' advertisement! Another grating point was that too few 'witnesses' were interviewed, resulting in only a relative few people telling their stories - over and over - in different ways and in different sections of the video/DVD.
The first couple of Sections were fair enough - although a lack of cohesion was caused by incidents and happenings being 'reported' out of sequence. The impression was given (although admittedly not said) that the US Forces were in the UK almost from the outset. Of course, they weren't! Far too little importance was given to the (literally) vital North Atlantic theatre of war. NO OTHER THEATRE HAD THE ABILITY TO DECIDE THE FATE OF THE UK - and the eventual outcome of the war. Even the 'Battle of Britain' would have proved unimportant, had the Germans severed the life line of ships and their cargoes of food, war supplies and later personnel, from the USA and Canada.
The covering of the North African Campaign was badly portrayed. El Alamein is only touched upon, whereas the joint landings of operation 'Torch' were dwelled upon. 'Torch' was a third class 'show' in Africa, and had far too many set-backs. In and of itself, it barely constituted a success. (Lessons, however, were learned by 'Torch' and the Americans gained vital fighting experience). El Alamein was THE battle in N. Africa and the reason Rommel was thrown out of Africa. Finally, the landings in the South of France were shown as being important. This was rubbish. These landings were virtually unopposed - and barely necessary.
In truth, the title 'The British Story' is very misleading and - as far as half the video/DVD is concerned - totally inaccurate.
The Video/DVD would have scored 3 stars, in my opinion, IF it had covered the V-weapon bombardment of London and the South East area (mainly) of England. This V-weapon bombardment caused as much if not more damage to London and the citizenry, than the original 'Blitz'. It was a huge and important 'incident' in the long war - yet it was totally ignored!!! This, in itself, was highly opprobririous.

(Presents truly amazing color war footage)
『WWII In Color: The British Story is a unique documentary showcasing the British experience in World War II through the means of color photography and film. The latest addition to the outstanding Goldhil Home Media (Digital Collector's Edition) this DVD presents truly amazing color war footage, as well as letters and diaries, and enhanced for the viewer with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, timelines, British WWII wall posters, and "Bonus Footage". WWII In Color: The British Story is a superbly presented and very welcome addition to any community library or military buff's World War II reference collection.』

(excellent sequal to "WWII the Lost Color Archive")
『Released in the UK as "Second World War in Colour, the British Story". It is by the same people who did "Second World War in Colour" (in the UK) which was released in the States as "World War II the Lost Color Archive". It follows the same format as the earlier title: John Thaw narrates as others read letters, diaries, etc, as the images go by. There is no studio filler, just original color footage from the war (and some before). In three parts "Darkest Hour", "Beginning of the End", and "Unknown Warriors" (which also shows some of the people as they are today). I don't think this is quite as good as the original- which I reviewed as "the best documentary I've seen"- it is still excellent. The DVD also includes Wyler's original "Memphis Belle" and some footage not shown in the UK broadcast. These are not on the VHS release』

(The Greater Expectations)
『Unfortunately for this movie, far too many reviews were put out about it from people who went into the movie with certain expectations..And they felt let down. If you watch this movie, not expecting aliens, conspiracies etc, and just watch it and let the story unfold--it makes for a GREAT X-files story. I walked out of the theatre just wanting another new episode next week. It had a good story, it was nice and dark--Back to the original first few seasons Vancouver style of dark and gloomy, not the LA version..The acting was great, and within minutes you fall back into what the real relationship behind Mulder and Scully were. I won't go into another big long review of the movie..I'm just suggesting that you go in there, and watch it..Don't go in expecting to see something in particular. And then watch it again. Trust me, if no one else :P』

(It is a throwback)
『It is very much like the early episodes of the show but that is the problem. This is the big screen and deserves a bigger and better story. I didnt hate it but it was far from what I expected, especially after the excellent Fight the Future.
My guess is the production costs were cut down a lot and they had to make due. Only a guess.
A solid rental but not one I will be buying.』

(A throwback to the earlier seasons of the show.)
『Here's where I stand on THE X-FILES: I was a fan of the show for the first couple of seasons when every episode was different (remember the Jersey Devil episode and the one about the deformed redneck family?) and before it got really heavy into the same continuous storyline, and I saw the first X-FILES movie a couple of times when it first came out but it's been so long that I barely remember it. So I did enjoy the show, however I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore fan and I wouldn't go so far as to say that this was a highly anticipated movie for me. So, with that out of the way...

In THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE, Mulder (David Duchovny) is living in seclusion and Scully (Gillian Anderson) is now a doctor. They are reunited when the FBI seeks them out for help to find a fellow agent who has gone missing. Mulder and Scully, along with the help of the FBI (with the two primary agents being portrayed by Amanda Peet and rapper Xzibit) and a goofy psychic named Father Joe (portrayed by Billy Connolly), eventually find clues that lead them to something gruesome and disturbing.

Throughout the movie there is a subplot where Scully is going through an ordeal at the hospital she works at involving a sick child who she is trying to save, the child's family, and the "powers that be" of the hospital who refuse to offer any further treatment for the child due to the fact that he suffers from an incurable disease. For most of the FBI investigation, Scully is absent and is faced with the dilemma of going through a radical medical procedure (stem cell) which may or may not help the child but will surely cause him a lot of pain. And then there's the Father Joe character who, while somewhat annoying at first, ultimately won me over due to actor Billy Connolly's charm. Father Joe is interesting in that he has a haunting past and is judged because of it, claims that God talks to him and gives him these psychic visions, and no one believes him except for Mulder.

Overall I enjoyed this film a lot! I really had no desire to see it, and actually decided to watch it just to see Xzibit in a "serious role". This film surprised me and kept my interest throughout. The entire film was definitely a throwback to the first seasons of the show in which they had the whole "Monster of the Week" thing going on which I mentioned earlier. It's basically a standalone Sci-Fi/Thriller with elements of Horror. The chemistry between Duchovny and Anderson is awesome and it's always great to see them back together on screen. Amanda Peet and Xzibit were both pretty good in their roles. It's sort of hinted in the movie that Peet's character has a thing for Mulder, but it never really goes anywhere for reasons I can't really talk about without ruining the movie. Xzibit was more of a background guy who didn't say a whole lot, who's character had a thick exterior to contrast Peet's more easy-going demeanor. And of course Connolly was great as always.

Another thing that I loved about the movie was the Cinematography. It was filmed in Canada during the winter and the snowy scenery and photography in the film was gorgeous. There aren't really any bad things about the movie that I can really think of. The lack of a major villain was a bit disappointing, but the twist at the end more than makes up for it. Obviously I won't say what the twist is, but it most definitely treads the waters of the Horror genre. Also the film isn't really as epic as a TV show-turned-feature length film should be and seemed like it could have been a longer version of a TV episode. Other than that, it was great. Entertaining, great cast, great acting, beautiful Cinematography, great music, nostalgia, and a twist that will satisfy Horror fans. There's also a little something special during the closing credits (with two songs provided by U.N.K.L.E. including a remix of the X-FILES theme) which is kind of cheesy but is still pretty cool to watch.

I've only seen the 1-Disc Version of the DVD so far and the Extra Features are OK. It has a great Commentary track by writer/director Chris Carter and writer Frank Spotnitz. There is also a ten minute Gag Reel, which by the looks of it the cast had a blast making the film. Overall, it's a great film and I would definitely recommend it.

4 stars』

(THE CASE OF THE MISSING AGENT)
『I got a glimpse ahead of time when a retailer accidently had this
movie out on it's shelves. The single disc pkg. pictured above contains
both the theater and directors' cuts of the movie! This is a great bonus
for all X-Files fans.

The movie is decent, but I was left wanting more. Since it has been
so many years since a show/movie was seen. Mulder is a recluse living
off by himself, reminding you of a discarded old school agent who
stepped on too many toes at the F.B.I. A current agent reaches out to
him for help. One of her own is missing with very little clues to go on.
A limb has been found but there is no body, a psychic may know of her
where abouts. Is the psychic for real? Agent Mulder is brought in to
see if he is for real. Fox then reaches out for Agent Scully, "Scully I
need you on this one!"

M.D. Scully has been working at a Catholic hospital where she appears
to be working on neuro patients. She agrees to meet w/Mulder and the
chase is on. This turns out to be a serial killer case with a few
twists. The ending is interesting in development, a comment on science
and research. Mulder places himself in danger - seeking the truth.
Scully saves the day, while a former priest/psychic seeks salvation.』

(A worthwhile endeavor for fans of the show)
『It's been a long time since The X-Files came to an end, and even longer since the release of the first feature film (1998's X-Files: Fight the Future). Maybe that's why I had a good degree of surprise when I heard about creator Chris Carter getting things together for another X-Files film, and even more so when I learned that it would be more akin to the classic, stand-alone episodes that helped define what made the series so great to begin with. Despite many of the negative reviews that it received, The X-Files: I Want to Believe is a worthwhile endeavor for fans of the show, and while not perfect by any means, still manages to satisfy. The film picks up with Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) apart and out of the FBI, until both are drawn back in with a case involving a former priest (Billy Connolly) who claims to have visions when an Agent goes missing under mysterious circumstances. There's no conspiracy abound, just a plot involving some horrific science gone wrong and belief, and the film is all the better for it. The usual cast of X-Files alums aren't present sadly, but Mitch Pileggi does return briefly as FBI director Skinner, and Amanda Peet and rapper Xzibit are on board as the FBI Agents that being Mulder and Scully into the fold. All in all, The X-Files: I Want to Believe is an enjoyable film that is a worthwhile trip for lovers of the show, and just seeing Mulder and Scully together again makes it essential viewing alone.』
『The feature filmThe X-Files: I Want to Believeis a satisfying if unspectacular installment in theX-Filesseries, taking place an unspecified time after the show's nine-year television run. Former agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) is now a doctor, while Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) is being hunted by his former agency and living in seclusion. He and Scully are summoned back by a case involving a missing agent and a former priest (Billy Connolly) who claims to be able to see clues to the agent's whereabouts psychically, though his initial search turns up only a severed limb. Don't expect the usual cast of characters; the FBI has completely turned over (except for the George W. Bush portrait), and the only reason Scully and Mulder are back is because agent Dakota Whitney (Amanda Peet) remembers his success on similar cases involving the unexplainable. Don't expect the same rogues' gallery either; unlike the previousX-Filesfeature film, which was inextricably linked to the series' convoluted mythology arc (and served as a bridge between the fifth and sixth seasons),I Want to Believeis a stand-alone piece that makes use of the series' roots in horror/sci-fi and moody Vancouver, B.C., locales. Also unlike the previous film, which was almost self-consciously shot for the big screen, this film is on a smaller scale, like a double-length episode of the series. But it's still a good reminder of the creepy vibe that hooked fans for years. And the relationship between Mulder and Scully? It seems to have resumed pretty much where it left off, at least when you take into account the long period of separation. But stick around for the end-credit sequence to take in all the possibilities for the future.--David Horiuchi

(Fun Action Movie!)
『I went into this movie expecting allot of great gunfights and action scenes... That's exactly what I got... If you went any deeper it wouldn't satisfy but it did what I expected...』

(Did a five year old write this movie?)
『WANTED stars James McAvoy (I guess Shia Lebouf wasn't available?) as Wesley, a down on his luck guy who works at a dead end job, has a girlfriend that cheats on him, and has no money to his name. Just when he's reached the end of his rope, he's recruited by a mysterious woman named Fox (Angelina Jolie) to join an elite group of assassins called "The Fraternity". It's revealed that Wesley's estranged father was a member of The Fraternity and one of the top assassins who, ironically, was killed by a rogue Fraternity member who left the group. Under the guidance of Fox, Fraternity leader Sloan (Morgan Freeman), and a few other characters, Wesley undergoes intense and brutal training in order to harness the inherited assassin-like characteristics that were genetically passed on to him by his father. The ultimate goal: to find the man who killed his father and avenge his death.

The premise sounds really cool, but when I first saw the trailer for this movie it automatically had two BIG striked against it. One being Angelina Jolie who I absolutely can't stand and the other being the shots of bullets moving in slow motion and apparently curving around objects to hit a target that's hidden in the background. Personally, slow motion bullets annoy the hell out of me. I know, it's weird and I really can't explain it. Maybe because of the fact of how RIDICULOUS it looks! How about slow motion brains coming out of someone's skull AFTER the bullet hits it? Now that would be cool. So anyway, with the two striked against it back when it was in theaters, that meant only one thing... wait 'til the DVD comes out. Which I did. And after finally watching it, hoping to be proved wrong about my assumptions about how bad the movies is, I can say that it is as bad even WORSE than I thought.

Basically WANTED is a one and a half star movie (MAYBE even two) that's saved by two things: Morgan Freeman and great special effects. Other than that, the film is poorly written and it's amazing how a screenplay like this can even be considered by a major studio and given the budget that this film has. The action scenes and shootouts are ridiculous and seem like they were dreamed up by someone with the mentality (or imagination) of a five year old boy (for example, a shootout in which both of the gunmen are such expert shots that every time they open fire at each other, their respective bullets crash into one another). And trust me... I love dumb Action movies with over the top violence... but this one was just horrible. It seems like half the movie is in slow motion for absolutely no reason other than to look cool or something. The best way that I can explain it is by asking a question. Have you ever watched a movie that's so dumb, that you actually felt insulted or even offended by even watching it because of the level of stupidity? Well, WANTED is that movie for me.

As far as good things, the special effects were great. The effects showcased a lot of unbelievably stupid scenes but the actual effects were executed very well. Even amidst the stupidity, I actually did find a couple of moments that I liked in the film. My favorite scene is where Wesley shoots a guy in the head, sticks his gun through the hole in the guy's head and runs around with his corpse as a shield and basically shooting his firearm while it's shoved completely through the guys skull. Also the climax of the film is almost like a video game where Wesley appears to be going through different levels and taking on a miniboss of sorts until finally reaching the person (or people) that he REALLY wants to kill. There's also a twist toward the end that I didn't see coming. I won't say what it is, but let's just say that its a ripoff of EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend WANTED unless you like Angelina Jolie (you do after all get to see her naked wet buttocks, along with her terrible acting) or unless you like really stupid Action films with an emphasis on the Action and no brains to the story whatsoever. Also the one disc version of the DVD has absolutely no Extra Features. But with my personal feelings on the movie aside, I decided to give the movie a fair rating (a two and a half is generous). WANTED has moments of fun in it, great effects and visuals with an interesting twist in the plot. However, if you're anything like me and can't stand watching films with weak scripts, then you should avoid this movie like the plague because it's about as weak as it gets.

2.5 stars』

(Hmmmm.)
『This will be my first review. I wanted my first review to be a positive one. Ah, well, the best laid plans . . . I did feel I had to put how I felt after reading the rave reviews. I haven't read the comic, so I can't tell you what I think in that direction.

The story is creative, and yes the plot is thin. Outside the box the theories of this fantasy world are intriguing. I'm thankful there wasn't as much gore as fans may want, and in my life I don't care for it as I did in my younger days.

The only character that had depth was the young adult played by McAvoy.
You know what? I truly believe any film needs characters that you would relate to or get to know and love/like/hate. Even action films. I know some of you disagree there, but I think some of the best action films out there have characters that mean something, or learn something or that you can feel for.

An assassination group with scruples? How does killing people fit into any type of "norm" for anyone? Okay, maybe to some people who imagine out there that it would be cool to be a killer. Society tells people they can't discipline their kids, then when that kid becomes bad it's the parents fault. Hmmmmm, why do we get into these type of movies, and how do we teach our youth that this is not what you want to do, or be or desire to play out? How can we let them know that we want them to have long, productive lives and have loved ones support them in their endeavors?

I wouldn't let my children (18 or below) watch this type of film (the higher age bracket, 16-18, I would make sure they know the difference between real and imaginary - but that's for you all out there. I would never knowingly attend this type of movie with the entire age group - I think it's inappropriate.)

I myself will never watch the film again. I have watched few movies that I can say that of, and I won't list them here. It did teach me to monitor my own film viewings. I'll have to screen better to make sure it's something I would want to see myself.』

(Non-stop action)
『I am a woman who likes her action movies, and this one does not disappoint. Amazing effects, incredible stuntwork, and the casting is perfect! Three of my favorites(McAvoy, Morgan, and Jolie)in one movie, pure enjoyment. Highly recommended for those who are looking for a butt-kicking escape.』

(Not great)
『I really enjoyed the action scenes - shootouts, car chases, etc. But the overall story of the movie is absolutely absurd. The scenes with Wesley and Janice reminded me of Office Space. :)』
『As the impresario behind gravity-defying Russian blockbusterNight Watch, it's inevitable that Hollywood would come calling for Timur Bekmambetov. With a studio budget and an international cast, including two Oscar winners, Timur cooks up a Hong Kong-styled actioner bursting with fast cars and big guns. Our unlikely hero is mild-mannered Chicago accountant Wesley Gibson (Atonement'sJames McAvoy), whose father died when he was a tot. Wesley never learned to stand up for himself, and his girlfriend, boss, and best buddy all take advantage until the seductive Fox (Angelina Jolie) rescues him from a sharpshooter named Cross (The Pianist’sThomas Kretschmann). After which, she whisks him away to a mansion on the edge of town to meet the other members of the Fraternity, where leader Sloan (Morgan Freeman) informs Wesley that Cross, a rogue agent, executed his father. Sloan believes Wesley has the goods to take him out, so he undergoes the Fraternity's brutal training regimen (Marc Warren and Common dish up some of the abuse). When he's ready, Sloan sends him out to fulfill his duty, but matters become complicated when Wesley finds out someone isn't telling the truth, leading our former milquetoast to exact an elaborate revenge. For those who've been following McAvoy's career to date, Wanted will surely come as a surprise. In adapting Mark Millar's comic series, Timur offers buckets of blood and a smidgen of depth, but fans ofThe MatrixandMr. and Mrs. Smithwill want to give this one a look. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

(Movie Making/Story Telling... At It's Best!!!)
『If you're looking for thrills, action, and or hollywood effects, this won't be your movie yet if you enjoy storytelling... WOW!!!

Everyone has their "ONE" story... something that changes ones perspective on how they view things and or what the meaning of things are; like your first encounter with taste, a smell, the stars, a train, a butterfly, etc... it all remains relative to your perception and takes on its meaning in your life and the world in which you live.

This is such a story... two men's journey or better said, "One man's first impression of another man and then ultimately both their journey's".

This story starts as all stories do... meeting a few characters yet in this movie you watch Andy Dufrane (Robbins) develop both through the camera's eye and then through Red's eyes (Freeman)! Bottom line? This is a story of how one mans life is changed by another mans struggle with his [yet] ironically both are in prison for life ...so time isn't an issue.

To do this story justice it has to be told slowly [so] yes, as when all view a movie for the first time I too thought, "This is way too slow and drawn out!! What is this movie leading up too?" To my amazement and enjoyment I hung in there because I have to say,"When it was all over I knew I had seen a movie like no other before it... you will cheer and appreciate this movie as it draws near to its end.

The real cool part? This movie holds a surprise twist near its end - that no one - not even Red ever expected!!!

-- What a wonderful way to end this movie!!! EXCELLENT!!! AWESOME!!! BRAVO!!!』

(This is one of my top 5 movies of all time)
『I don't give many movies a perfect 5 but I would give this a perfect 10 if I could. If there were ever a movie that has it all, its this one. Great Story, Great actors, Great and believable plot. The dialogue is also on par with some of the best movies I have ever seen. At least on par with Gladiator, Pelican Brief and others. I've watched this movie at least a dozen times and I can't wait for Blue Ray to come out because I will buy it again.』
『A prominent banker unjustly convicted of murder spends many years in the Shawshank prison. He is befriended by a convict who knows the ropes and helps him to cope with the frightning realities of prison life.』
『When this popular prison drama was released in 1994, some critics complained that the movie was too long (142 minutes) to sustain its story. Those complaints miss the point, because the passage of time is crucial to this story about patience, the squeaky wheels of justice, and the growth of a life-long friendship. Only when the film reaches its final, emotionally satisfying scene do you fully understand why writer-director Frank Darabont (adapting a novella by Stephen King) allows the story to unfold at its necessary pace, and the effect is dramatically rewarding. Tim Robbins plays a banker named Andy who's sent to Shawshank Prison on a murder charge, but as he gets to know a life-term prisoner named Red (Morgan Freeman), we realize there's reason to believe the banker's crime was justifiable. We also realize that Andy's calm, quiet exterior hides a great reserve of patience and fortitude, and Red comes to admire this mild-mannered man who first struck him as weak and unfit for prison life. Soit is thatThe Shawshank Redemptionbuilds considerable impact as a prison drama that defies the conventions of the genre (violence, brutality, riots) to illustrate its theme of faith, friendship, and survival. Nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, Actor, and Screenplay, it's a remarkable film that signaled the arrival of a promising new filmmaker--a film that many movie lovers count among their all-time favorites.--Jeff Shannon
