『i bought this dvd for my husband on oct 15. we did not have chance to watch this dvd until 28 nov. but when we started dvd player it start to make noise and on screen it shows bad disk. so i try to returned the dvd however i could not send them out because it was over 30days. it said it will play on regular dvd so we tried on 3 different player but no go. i am stock with damage dvd. is anyone could help out!
i could not find any phone # or e-mail only shows customer returned department address. anyway i am going to send this out to customer returned department and wait to see. this is a real stink!』

(Widescreen v. full)
『Just to offer my two cents, now that both versions are on DVD:

Regardless of what aspect ratio it was originally shot in, the full-screen version is indeed pan&scan. I now have both. If you compare the two, you'll see the newer widescreen DVD is not missing any of the picture from the top or bottom. It is the full-screen that is indeed missing the sides.
I never saw it in the theater, so I can't say how it was originally projected.
Either way, it's one of the best films ever (way better than Citizen Kane), so watch it however you want and enjoy.』

(The Ultimate Con)
『This movie ranks up there as one of the best films ever made and stands up well over the years.

Robert Redford, Paul Newman and Robert Shaw (who I always think of being an underated actor and the performance here and in Jaws show how great he was) all bring A-List performances to the movie.

The cinematography and look of the film adds to the atmosphere and is brilliant, while "The Entertainer" by Joplin adds to the feel of the movie.

And of course there is the plot itself. The planning, twists and turns of the con of the conman stand up on repeat viewings and letting some time pass between the viewings helps make the nuances stand up on repeat viewings regardless of whether you are able to remember the overall plot or conclusion - in other words it is one of the films that you can see over and over.

Highly recommended.』

The second DVD also would not load on my HD player. I returned the second one for a refund. I think you were sent a batch of defective HD DVD's. I am still awaiting my refund of the original purchase price.』

(The Sting)
『One of my all-time favorite movies (with the exception of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid)!!! I wore out the VHS tape so now I purchased the DVD. Paul Newman was a great actor and The Sting is a great movie. An appropriate legacy.』
『The winner of 7 Academy Awards including Best Picture,The Stinghas become one of America's favorite and most critically acclaimed films. Robert Redford and Paul Newman star as two con men in the 1930's out to avenge the death of a friend. They seek revenge on a crime lord (Robert Shaw) with a "sting" that is one of the greatest double-crosses in movie history, complete with an amazing surprise finish. Directed by George Ray Hill and written by David S. Ward.』
『Winner of seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, Director, and Screenplay, this critical and box-office hit from 1973 provided a perfect reunion for director George Roy Hill and stars Paul Newman and Robert Redford, who previously delighted audiences withButch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Set in 1936, the movie's about a pair of Chicago con artists (Newman and Redford) who find themselves in a high-stakes game against the master of all cheating mobsters (Robert Shaw) when they set out to avenge the murder of a mutual friend and partner. Using a bogus bookie joint as a front for their con of all cons, the two feel the heat from the Chicago Mob on one side and encroaching police on the other. But in a plot that contains more twists than a treacherous mountain road, the ultimate scam is pulled off with consummate style and panache. It's an added bonus that Newman and Redford were box-office kings at the top of their game, and while Shaw broods intensely as the Runyonesque villain,The Stingis further blessed by a host of great supporting players including Dana Elcar, Eileen Brennan, Ray Walston, Charles Durning, and Harold Gould. Thanks to the flavorful music score by Marvin Hamlisch, this was also the movie that sparked a nationwide revival of Scott Joplin's ragtime jazz, which is featured prominently on the soundtrack. One of the most entertaining movies of the early 1970s,The Stingis a welcome throwback to Hollywood's golden age of the '30s that hasn't lost any of its popular charm.--Jeff Shannon

(Love Until Death)
『Please note: I will be giving some of the plot away.

For anyone who views this film and thinks "underage sex" and/or "porn", there are some subtleties that need to be explored.

There is no reason to believe that the Chinaman sought out underage girls. If anything, his station in Chinese royalty probably provided him with female companionship until (and perhaps after) his arranged marriage.

Through no effort on his part the schoolgirl appeared in his orbit and he found himself unable to look away. This is a rare thing to experience and it is awfully hard to resist.

If we generally only see Leung and March having sex, we need to factor in that her jailbait status and the inter-racial nature of their relationship would not have allowed them to carry on a normal courtship. The sex was just about all that was left to them (and the director).

It was tragic not to see these two end up together, but there was a redeeming event at the end of this movie that made it worth my while.

In his old age Leung wrote to March that he would "love her until death". Society dictates that when two people part ways they must let each other go and move on. Rarely do we give or receive the assurance of on-going love in a situation like this. If both are in agreement that the relationship should not continue, this is a rare, beautiful, and appropriate gem to store away in one's heart.

(The Lover)
『Excelent! You can feel and live the romance, the desire, the passion on the scenes. It's a mix of feelings, real life situations and the reality of many people about love, culture and what they want to do and what they have to do.

(Avoid This Boring Movie - Like Watching Paint Dry)
『This movie is slow, boring, has no real plot, wooden acting. Watching this movie is like watching paint dry.』

(A Beautiful and Sensual Experience in Forbidden Love.)
『Set in 1929 colonial Vietnam, and based on the memoir by French novelist Marguerite Duras (The Lover), which chronicles a romance between Duras and her Chinese lover, Jean-Jacques Annaud's 1992 film examines the clandestine relationship between a 15-year-old daughter (Jane March) of a bankrupt French family and her 27-year-old wealthy lover (Tony Leung Ka-Fai). She becomes his lover until an arranged marriage forces him to a choose between family tradition and his love for the girl. Much like the far superior Hiroshima Mon Amour (based on a Duras novel as well) , The Lover is a beautiful and sensual experience in forbidden love. While it lacks the poetic imagination of Resnais's 1959 masterpiece, it nevertheless aspires to be viewed as a serious work, and it occasionally succeeds.

G. Merritt』

(Soft yet erotic, this tale won't disappoint)
『This movie is great for those slowed down nights when you want to sit back with a lover and enjoy a sensuous movie. It is titilating without getting awkward and pleasant to watch again and again.』
『From the novel of the same namewhich has sold over one million copies in 43 languagesthis "sophisticated adaptation of Marguerite Duras' best-selling memoirs" (Variety) smolders on the screen. "Masterfully acted and beautifully photographed" (Critics' Choice), The Lover brilliantly captures the essence of sexual awakening and forbidden desire like no other film has donebeforeor since. Jane March is mesmerizing in the role of a poor French teenager who engages in an illicit affair with a wealthy Chinese heir (Tony Leung) in 1920s Saigon. For the first time in her young life she has control, and she wields it deftly over her besotted lover throughout a series of clandestine meetings and torrid encounters. But though the lovers are able to transcend their differences in age, race and class'theirs is a future that French colonial Vietnamese society will never allow.』
『Lovely to look at, this story reveals little more than the characters' nude bodies. Like couples whose only attraction is physical, this has little to offer once it leaves the bedroom. We never learn the interests or inner workings of the lovers in question. They become nothing more than attractive bodies, which makes this little more than a shallow exercise in sexuality. The story is based on the controversial, and supposedly autobiographical, bestseller by experimental French novelist Marguerite Duras. It tells the story of a young French schoolgirl who becomes sexually involved with a sophisticated, older Asian man. Set in Indochina in the late 1920s, this is stunningly photographed and artfully directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. That said, the lack of a more satisfying plot means this is merely tastefully produced soft porn.--Rochelle O'Gorman

(Closer to home)
『Seeing things in color that I have always seen in black and white before somehow brings them closer to home - it makes it easier to identify with the people. For me, this helps bring more immediacy to the stories my stepdad told me about his experiences in that war.』

(Clark Gable in combat)
『As a kid growing up in the forties I thought Europe was this awful, gray and grainy place full of rubble, death and suffering. That was the way it looked in the newsreels shown at the local movie houses at the time. Rubble, death and suffering it had in abundance but gray and grainy it was not, as this wonderful documentary exhibits.
In 1942 following the tragic death of his wife in a plane crash, Clark Gable, the biggest movie star in the world at the time and 41 years old, enlisted in the Army Air Corps as a private. He became an officer, attended gunnery school in Florida and was assigned by General Hap Arnold to the 8th Air Force in Hanover, England. His mission was to gather a movie crew and fly combat missions over Germany while his crew filmed the action in color in the hope that footage of Clark Gable manning a gun on actual bombing missions would stimulate the enlistment of badly needed gunnery voluteers.
Gable's crew shot 50,000 feet of color footage both on the ground in England and during the 5 combat missions Gable flew. The flip side of this DVD has an hours worth of the footage that was shot during Gable's tour of combat duty. That alone is worth the price of admission to this DVD.
A side note is that Hermann Goering put a price on Gable's head and offered a reward to any German pilot who shot down Gable's plane. One came close enough to shoot the heel off his boot. General Arnold thought he had better get Gable out of there before he fell into Hitler's hands so after five missions he was reassigned back to the States to edit his film.

(As they saw it -- and we owe them so much)
『The Second World War was one of the great catastophes to befall humanity, and one of the greatest challenges of the United States (and, of course, its many allies). This film essentially comprises actual color footage of key American battles and incidents of World War II, as well as some captured home movies of Adolph Hitler in his "Eagle's Nest."

This is a very worthwhile DVD. The narrative is unabashedly American-oriented, which fits with the film and attitudes of the times in which the films were taken. There is something incredibly poignant about seeing actual footage of the men and boys (who would very shortly be men) going into action in places like Normandy Beach and Tarawa. Many of these lads would not be coming back--these are not actors, this is the real deal. Nothing can compare to this.

The film holds little back; there are some pretty graphic battle scenes complete with casualties. If the media back then had been as it is today, the press would have portrayed the victories of Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Normandy, Guadacanal, Okinawa and other tough fights as gruesome American defeats due to the heavy casualties. This film reminds us that the price of victory is likely not to be cheap. Not a few of us have perhaps forgotten that, and the price that others have paid on our behalf. I will ensure that my children watch this film for that reason.

By the way, on the reverse side of the DVD there is an old US Government orientation film narrated by Clark Gable. It is a wonderful look at the attitudes of the times, as America geared up to fight the Germans over the skies of Europe. Don't miss it.』

(PLEASE CHECK OUT THE FACTS)
『I`m writing because a reviewer said that the woman throwing her child and then herself off of a cliff was because of her fear of the American Marines. This is not the truth at all. This happened on Saipan, the Japanese commander of the island ordered all the civilians to comment suicide. The Marines had a interpreter that was begging the people from a loudspeaker to choose to live, a few did most didn`t. I learned this when I watched the documentary (OUR TIME IN HELL narrated by Lee Marvin) an excellent film.』

(The war in color)
『It is not a movie; it is a kind of documentary in color shooted by ordinary men during the Second World War. Look at the war in the way that your parents and grans parents have seen it in color. It is just different but the next time that I will seen a movie in black and white, I will have a good idea about the colors. It is interesting to buy if you wish to see the war in colors.』
『"World War Two: In Color" documents the horrors of World War II the way the soldier saw it-in color. This three-hour digitally mastered DVD presents a true picture of war that allows viewers to see the brutality GI's experienced.

Color footage includes Hitler and Eva Braun, D-Day, a B-17 bombing raid over Germany, the Allied advance into France and Italy, the liberation of Dachau, Midway, Saipan, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Hiroshima. Complimenting the extraordinary color images is a 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound audio mix that places you in the middle of the action.

Additional bonus features include a timeline with vintage newsreels and photos that give an overview of WWII as well as a global map that separates the war into Pacific and European battles. Another bonus included is "Combat America"-an uncut 60 minute government film narrated by Clark Gable.

After watching this DVD you'll never think of WWII the same way again.』
『This collection of color footage shot during World War II focuses primarily on America's involvement in the war, beginning with Col. Jimmy Doolittle's legendary raid on Tokyo in 1942 and proceeding up to the liberation of the concentration camps in Europe. The footage assembled in this package is often quite fascinating, and while some of it is occasionally marred by scratches and other signs of age, the quality is generally very good. The 16 selections in the main feature all focus on a particular aspect of the war and include footage shot during bombing missions over Germany, on the invasion beaches of Normandy, and on aircraft carriers battling in the Pacific. Some of the film, such as hand-held footage shot during the U.S. Marine's desperate fighting on Tarawa, are inherently dramatic, and some shots, such as the celebrations of liberated French citizens, show the human side of war. Seeing all of this in color, as it truly appeared, is a vastly different experience than the black-and-white newsreels that form the basis for most documentaries. Besides the main feature, which runs for more than an hour and a half, the disc also includes a bonus movie, a one-hour color documentary on American bomber crews that was filmed in England and is narrated by actor Clark Gable, who was serving as an officer in the Eighth Air Force.--Robert J. McNamara

(Party Like It's 1959)
『Mankind hasn't always been as intelligent as we are now. As late as a few hundred years ago, we thought the Earth was flat and that the Sun revolved around the Earth. As late as 2008, we even believed the Los Angeles Lakers could go all the way. And, apparently, as late as fifty years ago we believed that the moon was populated by giant rubber rock monsters and ruled over by a sadistic queen.

Of course, some misconceptions are much more entertaining than others, and Missile to the Moon certainly qualifies as the former. Continuing its long tradition of supporting the most "legendary" B-movies, Legend Films has completely re-mastered the classic film for this new DVD release, providing its trademark touch of color in the process, though always including the unaltered black and white version on the same disc. You might think that the audience reaps the most reward from this improvement, but you'd be wrong. The real beneficiary of Legend's added hues is the film's camp-value! Only in true color, for instance, does it become blindingly apparent that "the moon" is actually a studio backlot in Southern California.

As with all Legend releases, the colorization quality is far and above any preconceived notion you might have. The technology deployed by Legend has advanced significantly beyond the "Terrible Turner" broadcasting colorizations of the `80s, resulting in a realistic and polished appearance that has to be seen to be believed. And since the bottom line is so often the "bottom line," you can't get more value than having two versions of a timeless movie on the same disc, for the same price.』

『A beloved camp classic from the golden drive-in era! Two escaped cons stowaway on a flight to the moon and discover a race of alien women ruled by a fierce and sadistic queen. 『My three kids don't tire of watching this movie. I'm glad to have bought the bluray version, which is much harder to scratch.

(Slightly darker film LOADED with extras for Blu-ray/DVD)
『Although it didn't do as well as the first installment, The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Two-Disc Collector's Edition), I found this movie to be just as good, albeit a little darker than its predecessor. This time around, the Pevensie children are whisked unexpectedly back to Narnia when Prince Caspian summons them via a magic horn; however, 1300 years have passed from their last visit. Aslan the Lion has been missing, so it is up to the Pevensies to restore Narnia to its former glory since The Telmarines seized it, forcing the animals into hiding from the evil Miraz.

This film is not only darker, but even slightly more violent, and should be watched with caution by very young children (if at all). The previous cast returns; the standout for me is Georgie Henley as Lucy. Some child actors become more self-conscious and less natural as they age; in her case, she has only improved and shows the proper mix of innocence and maturity that is required of her character. As Susan, Anna Popplewell shows a flair for comedy in her slight romance with Prince Caspian. There are nice touches linked from the previous story, especially with how Edward is able to vanquish "a problem" from the previous story that he was once spellbound by.

Onto the extras and specs! The movie is presented in 2:40:1 ratio, with 7.1 DTS HD Master Audio (48khz/24 bit); the extras on the blu-ray are also presented in Hi-Def (1080) with 5.1 Dolby Digital sound. Needless to say, the picture and sound are fantastic on this one!

Disc 2 Extras:

* Inside Narnia: The Adventure Returns (34:38). Director Adamson and crew journey back to Narnia a second time. Having already got one film under his belt with this crew, Adamson discusses how it was easier not to have to re-create a camaraderie this time around. Obviously, there was also some sadness at the end of the shoot, especially for the characters who will not be part of future installments.

* Sets of Narnia: A Classic Comes to Life (23:35). Locations around the globe and the challenges of inclement weather; lots of unexpected rain!

* A Big Movie Comes to a Small Town (23:13). A very interesting little featurette on the town of Bovec in Slovenia. Featuring interviews with townspeople young and old (96!), it details the (positive) impact that the film crew of 1200 had on this beautiful municipality. Film dailies were actually screened in Bovec's fire department!

* Previsualizing Narnia (10:03). Storyboards have gone high-tech, as much of the movie was conceptualized in what is referred to as "pre-vis." Using computer animation that is rough (think primitive video arcade game), the crew is able to time the movie, work out rough spots, and sell a sequence. Hand-drawn storyboards are still used at times though, especially since they are much faster to render.

* Talking Animals&Walking Trees: The Magical World of Narnia (4:43)

* Deleted Scenes (11:17) with intros by Director Adamson. Most of these 10 scenes were cut for pacing, and rightfully so. Still interesting to watch.

* Bloopers (3:04). Most of the time I skip the bloopers, but it is great to see the fun interaction between the actors, especially the Pevensie children, who laugh, cut-up, and dance in-between takes. Especially impressive is William Moseley (Peter) in a sword fight, falling down a flight of stone steps, and continuing right on with his duel after he lands!

* Secrets of the Duel (6:41) is about the duel between Peter and Miraz. The attention to detail (including the armour) is astounding, and this featurette delves into all of the intricacies of this sequence.

* Becoming Trumpkin (4:46). Peter Dinklage transforms from a Hollywood actor into Trumpkin. The ordeal of having a face mask cast in latex is shown here. Ugh! Despite all of the heavy makeup, fellow cast members repeatedly talk about Peter's expressive eyes and how much they add to the character.

* Warwick Davis: The Man Behind Nikabrik (11:11). His day begins at 4:37am in the Czech Republic for this featurette, followed by THREE HOURS in the makeup chair. Not very glamorous! And when it comes time to remove the makeup, as Warwick says, "It isn't like Mrs. Doubtfire!"

Overall, this is a must-have set, and an excellent movie. I sure hope they continue on with the series.

(Andrew Adamson has done it again)
『This is the sequel to the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe which was an awesome movie. I still remember when my aunty first bought me the Chronicles of Narnia book collection. Once I started reading the first book, I couldn't stop and read the entire series in about a day and a half. Now that Prince Caspian is out, there are only five more to go. The next one is called Voyage of the Dawn Treader which will be just as good if not better than its predecessors. The only junk thing is waiting for it to come out!』

(ACTION PACKED AND THRILLING STORY)
『This is the second of the seven stories from the Chronicles of Narnia. This Prince Caspian segment is filled with much more action, battles with tons of sword fighting, and dangerous situations for the kids who return to save Narnia. Perhaps a bit intense for the very, very young. Narnia characters are even more creatively made than when the strange creatures were invented for "Star Wars."

Viewing it with a kindergartner and a fourth grade student (boys) proved to be a hit with both of them as well as the 2 adults that watched it together. It has a sound moral basis and much better than a lot of the blow-em-up, kill-em-all movies currently being put out.

Of course the small cost difference between just the movie and all the extras is well worth the additional to add to the enjoyment. Can't wait for the next Narnia adventure release supposedly in production already. I hope eventually all seven of C. S. Lewis stories are put to film, just like this one and the previous "Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe."』

『The magical world of C.S. Lewis beloved fantasy comes to life once again inPrince Caspian, the second installment of The Chronicles Of Narnia series. Join Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy, the mighty and majestic Aslan, friendly new Narnian creatures and Prince Caspian as they lead the Narnians on a remarkable journey to restore peace and glory to their enchanted land. Continuing the adventure ofThe Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobewith more magic and a brand-new hero,Prince Caspianis a triumph of imagination, courage, love, joy and humor your whole family will want to watch again and again.』
『More exciting than The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspiancontinues the movie franchise based on C.S. Lewis' classic fantasy books. The movie picks up where the first left off... sort of. It's been a year since the Pevensie children--Peter (William Moseley), Susan (Anna Popplewell), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), and Lucy (Georgie Henley)--returned to England from Narnia, and they've just about resigned themselves to living their ordinary lives. But just like that, they're once again transported to a fantastical land, but one with a long-abandoned castle. It turns out that they are in Narnia again--and they themselves lived in that castle, but hundreds of years ago in Narnia time. They've been summoned back to help Prince Caspian (Stardust's Ben Barnes, resembling a young, cultured Keanu Reeves), the rightful heir to the throne who's become the target of his power-hungry uncle, King Mraz (Sergio Castellitto). And he's not the only one threatened: Mraz's people, the Telmarines, have pushed all the Narnians--the talking animals, the centaurs and other beasts, the walking trees--to the brink of extinction. Despite some alpha-male bickering, Peter and Caspian agree to fight Mraz alongside the remaining Narnians, including the dwarf Trumpkin (Peter Dinklage) and the swashbuckling mouse Reepicheep (voiced by Eddie Izzard). (Also appearing is Warwick Davis, who was in Willow and the 1989 BBC Prince Caspian.) But of course they most of all miss the noble lion, Aslan, who would have never let this happen to Narnia if he hadn't disappeared. Prince Caspian is epic, evoking memories of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings films. (Some of the battle elements may seem too familiar, but they were in Lewis's book.) And it's appropriate for kids (Reepicheep could have come out of a Shrek movie), though the tone is dark and there is a lot of death, albeit bloodless. After two successful films, Disney and Walden Media's franchise has proved successful enough that many of the characters are scheduled to return in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. --David Horiuchi

(One of the most important signing videos for your child.)
『With signs like doctor, firefighter, and police officer, this video is one of the most important signing videos to purchase for your child. There are many other signs such as transportation and businesses around town. You'll love this video!』

(Signing Times)
『I love all the Signing times. Not only do they help children learn ASL but they help me too.』

(Signing time DVD's)
『I have been purchasing Signing Time DVDs for my twin grandsons since they were a year old. They are now 2 1/2 yrs old and still enjoy watching and learning sign language. I would highly recommend these DVD's. When they start school they will have a 'second' language and if one of their classmates is hearing impaired, they will be able to communicate with them.』

(Bravo! Well worth the $.)
『The entire Signing Time! and Baby Signing Time! series are wonderful. My daughter has a remarkable vocabulary for a 21 month old and I have to credit her favorite program with helping to improve our verbal communications. The series has helped her to speak wonderfully and not only say words but to understand them as well.

We don't allow a great deal of TV programming but the Signing Time! series is soothing when she is sick, entertainig on rainy days, and educational. If I have to turn something on, Signing Time! is a good choice.
