Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (great beginner's practices, BUT WATCH OUT FOR MARKETING PLOY) 『this is basically a package consisting of two suzanne deason dvds, Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss and AM PM Yoga for Weight Loss, spread across three dvds. the yoga practices are very fine work, worth four or five stars individually, but i have cut this down to one star because the repackaging may cause people to think the Quick Start and Maintenance dvds are new and different than the AM/PM dvd. also, at this writing, the package costs more than the individual dvds. shame on you, gaiam!
Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss is a popular gentle beginners' practice, about 45 minutes in length, demonstrating four different levels of practice from beginner to most advanced. It presents a balanced practice of standing poses, backbends, core work, forward bends and twists. suzanne deason's AM PM Yoga for Weight Loss is also a fine dvd, providing a similar kind of practice, in shorter, more focused versions. there is a morning and evening practice and bonus workout, each simple and short (more or less 25 min. each) and well cued, with modifications for beginners in the morning and evening segments. the morning practice focuses on standing poses and backbends. The evening practice focuses on shoulder opening and forward bends. The bonus breathwork workout is more advanced and does not present modifications. it focuses on integrating breath and movement in more challenging standing poses, backbends, and core work.
two dvds included here present the same workouts as the AM/PM dvd. Quick Start Yoga for Weight Loss is the AM portion of the original dvd, and Maintenance Yoga for Weight Loss is the PM portion of the original, plus the dvd's bonus workout on cd. if you want all of these suzanne deason practices on dvd, you can just buy Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss and AM PM Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss separately. you will end up with two dvds including all the practices contained here on three dvds and one cd, for less money.』 『Studio: Gaiam Americas Release Date: 04/04/2006』

(strong yoga) 『I love this yoga dvd. I have been doing yoga for years and wanted a step up in strength and ability. Peggy Hall is perfect for what I want on my tough workout day. It is my favorite. Not to floaty, good form, interesting, good strong vinyasas, and I am exhilerated and stronger after each session. I also own Surfer 2, and this is even more challenging, yet doable.』
(More than just yoga for surfers) 『In this video, Peggy definitely steps it up compared to the two previous videos. The video extends beyond the yoga realm into pilates and beyond. I found this more challenging and enjoyable than YFS2. My only complaint is the use of Brian Conley and Garrett McNamara. They are both just tokenly going through the easy motions. Tom Carroll is the real star of this video, and his flexibility and strength is definetely impressive. All in all I would recommend this video.』
(Excellent in Every Way!) 『I love the other two Yoga for Surfers DVDs, so I couldn't wait to get this one -- and it even surpassed the other two! The production of the DVD is mroe like a movie than an exercise video -- every thing is very high quality and cutting-edge. The locations are beautiful and inspiring. I love that Peggy uses professional surfers in her routines (this time Tom Carroll, Bryan Conley and Garrett McNamara -- and you won't believe the waves he rides!).
The DVD has three segments, each about 20 minutes long. The first is all about the abs and back, with poses that are really challenging but also accessible. (Peggy reminds us to breathe and focus and we can accomplish anything!) The second is all about lower body strength, along with balance poses. The third is about upper body strength along with more arm balances. I'm motivated to keep doing this DVD until I get good at it -- there's always more to explore, never boring. And the best thing -- not a bunch of sun salutations, just unique variations on different poses. I felt fantastic after doing it.
I like that I can do the program all at one in about an hour, or I usually just do one segment every other day and finish it in a week. Perfect to do in the morning before going to work, and I feel great the rest of the day.
Yoga for Surfers always gives you a great value for the money, and this one does, too -- lots of bonus material about the pro surfers, a very interesting interview with Peggy Hall about the whole Yoga for Surfers idea, and the best part: a guided surfing meditation. This kept me sane when the surf has been flat! There is gorgeous footage of Tahiti and Australia and of course a lot of inspiring surfing from the pros!
So yes, do buy this one, it's an excellent program in every way.』 『The highly-anticipated DVD is the third in the popular series by the Yoga for Surfers crew and includes challenging yoga poses, creative sequencing, and a mesmerizing original soundtrack. Avid surfer and certified yoga instructor Peggy Hall is joined by the pro surfers in three 20-minute segments, one focusing on the abs and back, one focusing on the lower body, and one focusing on the upper body. The routines can be done separately for a quick, efficient practice or put together for a more complete practice. Bonus features include profiles on each surfer as well as a guided meditation for surfing. Running Time: 80 minutes. Release Date: 11/29/2004.』

My flexibility has already begun improving after only two weeks, and I don't feel nearly as tight just after a walk. I'm also much more relaxed since I incorporated the yoga DVD in my exercise routine. Give the You Can Do Yoga DVD a try.』
(Okay yoga DVD from a great teacher) 『I am a big Leslie fan and feel that she can always make the exercises simple enough for everyone to participate. The DVD is divided into an introduction, showing the poses, some of them for an advanced beginner. There is no explanation of props as aids until later, introduced in the second half, true work out. The first half could have been left out for me. The second half is the actual session. Again, Leslie encourages work at your pace etc, but talks so much she does not cue you when to stop the pose, especially if you are twisted around and can't see the screen. The variety of poses are good though and I would do the second half to augment my own practice. Overall, a B- experience.』
(Simple but not easy enough) 『I'm a big fan of Leslie's WATP workouts so I had high hopes for this one too. Unfortunately, I didn't think this is one of her best. The music is strangely upbeat for a yoga workout and she misses a number of cues (and when you're twisted around, not looking at your tv that's a problem).
I am an inflexible person and new to yoga. There are VERY few modifications shown. She'll say something like, "If you can't reach, use a chair" but she never shows how to use the chair.
I'm sure that this is a decent starter workout, but I expected better from Ms. Sansone.』
(Leslie Sansone - Yoga) 『My first attempt at yoga. As always,Leslie is very thorough with her instructions. Loved the basic poses and stretching. Will add this to my cool down to get a better stretch at the end of my workouts.』
(great for beginners and/or unflexible people) 『I have tried numerous yoga videos and this is the best one I have found so far. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and by no means am I flexible. This is the only video that didn't have me twisting into a pretzel and in pain the next day. Leslie includes a section where she explains all the poses (name and how to do it) and then another one for the entire routine (explaining modifications along the way). She is also easy and enjoyable to follow (no group of people with her) and I feel wonderful after doing the routine.』 『Studio: Gaiam Americas Release Date: 04/20/2004 Rating: Nr』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (The Dance Workout I've Been Looking For) 『Wow, I just did this workout DVD for the first time (all three workouts on the DVD) and I love it. Since I never had dance instruction as a child, but realized in adulthood how much dance would be just up my alley, I've looked for ways to learn to dance with fun and grace.
For me as a beginner, ballet has its value more as a workout, but not as free-flowing joyful movement (at least when starting out and learning the movements from scratch); belly dance is fun, but tires me mentally after a while, as though I'm longing for something a little more innocent and carefree.
However, this, which had components of ballet and belly dance in addition to many other kinds of dance, is pure fun! When I finished I found myself improvising my own dances around the house wherever I went. I felt more flexible and free. This style of dance captures what I have been looking for. A beginner can do it and by the end of the workout, immediately feel more graceful than she was when she started the DVD. I would love there to be more dance videos like this one.
For anyone who's a believer in Christ of the New Testament, as I am, well, when Condello gives thanks on the DVD to the "element of water," you can just direct that thanks to God who created the wonderful free-flowing movements of water, instead. At least, that's how I look at it. I truly love the visual imagery Condello evokes throughout the workout and the beautiful wave movements she uses.
My four year old also loved this video. She was running back and forth and joyfully dancing. "This is so fun, Mommy!," she said. She liked this much better than the Denise Austin "Fit Kids" and "Tae Bo Kicks" videos for children that I've tried.』
(On par with Fire and Earth) 『I've done yoga for almost 30 years. I've done tai chi for almost 10. Aerobic dance for just about 20 years, and belly dance for probably 5 years. I have exercise tapes of all kinds, even country line dancing. To keep a variety going, I cycle through them, but have always yearned for one tape that combines my main loves -- yoga, tai chi, aerobics, belly dancing, and exotic dance. These DVDs are it! And, when they talk about global dances, they mean it. On Sarina's DVDs, you learn and practice African, Latino, Brazilian, Indian, Spanish, and even a bit of Irish dance techniques. Sarina blends them beautifully with the yoga, tai chi, aerobics and belly dance while really inspiring you by sharing her childlike joy in the music&body movement. Nicely chosen music that neither drowns out her instructions nor is so quiet in the background that you can barely hear it. It is just right, as is her voice and sweet way of instructing you. There are warm-ups, workouts, and cool downs (3 of each) on the DVD. Really, this is something for those at most levels of fitness and dance ability. Start slow, make your movements not so big....then as you get used to the movements and get practiced, get as enthusiastic as she is.
"Fire" is my favorite of her 3 exercise videos. When I haven't done cardio work for a while, I ease back into it with these DVDs. Then, as my endurance builds, I get as enthusiastic with it as Sarina is. Then, I move on to one of my exercise videos where the workout is longer. I do agree with one Amazon reviewer that it is bothersome that each of the three segments contains a short warm-up, some work-out, and a brief cool down. I usually hit the "Play All" and just go through the whole DVD. But, each segment can stand alone as a quick work-out or you can dance enthusiastically while setting the DVD to the next work-out on the menu. Or, when I'm not feeling the greatest, this makes for a low-impact, invigorating energy-booster to send me toward a better day than I would have had.』
(Empowering!) 『I love Yoga Dance Water! Serena is very encouraging, not at all intimidating as she leads you through easy flowing dance steps to help develop flexibility in, and awareness of, your body. The music is very soothing, as are her comments about loving your body, loving yourself. The three 20-minute workouts are very similar in nature, so it's not often that I do all three at once -- but I sometimes do one from Yoga Dance Earth before doing Yoga Dance Water!』
(My favourite Yoga Dance DVD) 『I love all three 'Yoga Dance' DVDs, but I probably play 'Water' the most. (I use these DVDs at least twice a week, either as a great warm up before a more intense workout or on days when I can't be bothered working too hard. However, once I start moving with Sarina, I find myself wanting to dance and stretch all night long.)
Sarina is one of my favourite instructors and her motivating words and soothing voice, together with the fabulous soundtrack and gorgeous free-flowing movements, make it a pleasure to exercise. And it's such fun!
The 'Water' DVD contains three 21 minute workouts. Each workout is then divided into three segments - warm up (the longest segment and my favourite, with lots of arm and hip movements), the 'workout' section and cool down. I love combining all three warm up segments, doing workout 3 (the most aerobic) and then doing all the stretches at the end.』
(Fun dance fusion DVD) 『I really liked her Yoga Dance: Fire, so I decided to give this one a try. It's slightly different from fire, in that there is more of an emphasis on flowing, graceful movements. Much like fire, the DVD includes three 20 minute workouts. The 20 minutes includes warm up and cool down, so your heart rate will not be up for a sustained period. Unfortunately, the three water workouts are too similar to each other to be done together without getting bored (for me). One 20-minute segment makes a nice quickie workout for the time pressed, or can be combined with other workouts for something more thorough.
I enjoy the instructor, even though she is a bit new-age. However, I like that her motivating comments are about loving your body and being healthy instead of constantly focusing on how you're going to be so thin when you finish doing this workout (which is of course, NEVER true, anyway).
This is a fusion dance workout, not yoga. There is a bit of yoga-like stretching in the cool down, though. The rest of the workout is a mixture between different kinds of dance: Tai-chi, ballet, Polynesian, Latin, and Eastern dance moves are mixed together. The music is similarly eclectic (and beautiful). Even though I am not very coordinated, I felt it easy to catch the gist of Serina's movements. She doesn't put pressure on you to move a specific way, isolating specific body parts, unlike most dance DVDs. Instead, you're encouraged to be free with your movements and do what you can.』 『The New Movement in Yoga. Water: Strengthening&Flexibility. Aerobic Fluidity in Movement and Thought. Join fitness expert and gifted dancer Sarina for three fun and easy-to-follow YOGA DANCE sessions guaranteed to feed your body, mind and soul. Each invigorating DVD combines movements inspired by yoga, salsa, belly dancing and martial arts with traditional dance moves from around the world. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Good blend of yoga and pilates) 『I used to take a "yogalates" class at the gym but I moved and there isn't a class like that at the gym here. So I was looking for something that was similar to the class I enjoyed and Kathy Ackerman's "Yoga-Pilates Fusion" DVD is just what I was looking for.
I find the moves flow together very well and the transitions are smooth. I also like that there are modifications for everything, and many things have several levels of challenge. I've worked out with the DVD about 14 times now and I can definitely notice an improvemnt in my ability to do the exercise, including moving up to the more challenging moves for some things. I have definition in my arms, abs, and legs again, and my back feels stronger.
If you are a true beginner with no knowledge of yoga poses, you may need to watch through it once or twice to figure out what a "down dog" and a "warrior one" are. She does a good job in some aspects of explaining which muscle(s) you should feel working. There is one move (hands off the mat to the side, kneeling on one knee, leg out to the side pulsing up and down) and I'm not exactly sure where I'm supposed to feel the effort so I'm not sure I'm doing it just right.
All in all I'm very pleased with the DVD and look forwards to other productions from Kathy Ackerman!』
(Unbelievable workout) 『This is a great and different workout. You will use muscles you didn't think you had. What's great is how you feel after doing it!!』

(A winning combination) 『An easy to follow all around work out with modifications when it gets too tough. I found a just right combination of yoga and pilates and as I am more familiar with pilates, I still had no problem following the yoga moves. When your muscles are sore from the gym, for example, this would be nice. But it's not really all that difficult, if that's what you're looking for. Certainly not like a yoga class, though I've never taken prenatal yoga.』
(Perfect for Third Trimester) 『Love this video. I'm a casual yoga-goer and finally found the tape that works for me! The instructor does a wonderful job of keeping a nice pace and walking you through each pose. The routine is challenging enough to keep you interested, and the instructor verbally will guide you if you like to keep your eyes closed or focused on your own body, you do not need to keep looking up at the screen to follow along. I will do this program over and over again until I deliver!』
(Great prenatal yoga class) 『I'm currently in my third trimester, and I've been using Holliday's DVDs regularly since the second trimester (I started with her second trimester DVD). I really feel a benefit from using them -- so far I've had very little back pain and I feel pretty limber for a pregnant woman. I just started Lamaze classes and can tell that the breathing I do in the DVD is going to help a lot with that as well.
The issues with the DVD production that some other reviewers have mentioned hasn't really bothered me. It's true, though, that the production value isn't very high and the workout doesn't seem to have been edited. Holliday makes a few little mistakes when she's speaking but after you've done the workout once or twice you can tell what she means, so that really didn't detract from it for me. The lack of music doesn't bother me.
The only thing I don't like about the workout is that sometimes it seems a little rushed when moving between poses (this happened in the Second Trimester workout as well). In the section at the end where she relaxes each muscle with a deep breath, she goes way too fast for me to actually take deep breaths.
Overall, though, a great DVD. Holliday has a very calm, kind personality and the stretches really feel good. I really anticipate that it will help me with my labor and delivery.』
(It's not bad, but...) 『I just got this DVD 3 days ago and tried it once, so I can't tell if it's gonna work for me or not when it comes to the program itself, but I'm going to give it a try and do it 2-3 times a week. The reasons why I didn't like it so much from the beginning were: 1. I didn't like that there was no music in the background. It would be easier for me to concentrate if there was music. If you don't care - it's obviously not a big deal. 2. I do believe that breathing in Yoga is very important and sometimes I found it difficult to follow Sara's directions when it came to breathing because for some reason what she says doesn't always correspond with what's on the screen. E.g. she says "Inhale, arms up" but the video is showing her with her arms down. I find it quite confusing.』
(Lovely little DVD) 『My wife tends to put things off . . . she assumed childbirth would work out that way, too. She fully expected to be on the extended trimester plan, giving birth to a post-term infant who was already in medium Fuzzi Bunz.
So, a mere four days before her due date, she decided it was time to start doing yoga. She put this in on a Friday night just to listen. Our son was born the next day.
I'm not saying this DVD started the whole shebang, but it was a soothing way to experience our last night as non-parents. As a practitioner of various forms of yoga, I think this is an excellent DVD to start with . . . or end with, as the case may be.』 『Feel fit, be strong, and look great during the final phase of your journey to motherhood as you exercise with fitness and health teacher Sara Holliday's Prenatal Yoga: Third Trimester DVD. She talks about more than just muscle and twists--she talks about where your power derives from and how to harness it and be creative with in it. If you are tired of crunches and sit-ups you will enjoy this video! She is very creative and you can go as fast or as slow as you need. I feel very strong (in my abs)since I have added this DVD in my rotation.』
(Shiva rea- Core abs) 『Easy to follow , none of the moves too challenging yet it really provides a solid core workout in a reasonable amount of time.』
(Good change of pace) 『Unless you've been living in a cave you've heard that exercisers need to change up their routine every now and then to get continual results. This DVD definitely does that. I have tried various Abs DVDs that claim they really beat your Abs down, but after awhile I found that most overlapped on quite a few exercises. This DVD though is very new and creative and works your Abs in a different way. I agree with another reviewer that it's nice to use your whole body to work your core. I like the water workout the best.』
(One of Shiva's BEST) 『This is one of Shiva's best! The dvd is so enlightning, but at the same time you don't even realize how hard you're working your core! A must watch! TAMARA'S YOGA FUSION』
(Creative Like It Said) 『This is definitely more creative and interesting than just doing your standard crunches! I liked how in certain segments she would let you come up with your own routines instead of following her all the time. I know I felt my abs the next day. Also, I like how you could do the entire workout, approximately 40 mins, or separately, lasting between 10-20 mins each. Overall, a great core workout - everything gets hit: abs, back, and to a certain degree, arms and legs.』 『"The Madonna of yoga, exuding creativity and inspiration"—Yogi Times
Good things flow from a strong core: a long lean torso, a healthy back, a positive flow of energy that benefits every aspect of your life. Now, one of the yoga world’s top female teachers shows you an enlightened way to a powerful core. Unlike repetitive conventional abs work, Shiva’s fluid yoga-based approach awakens your creativity and inner fire, building strength and grace in the same way that surfing, rock climbing, or dancing does—while you’re enjoying yourself, not counting the minutes until it’s over. The program includes three flowing segments, which can be done all at once or individually.
Filmed at White Sands National Park, the program was directed by James Wvinner and shot in HD by Hollywood’s Sion Michel (Memoirs of a Geisha). Beautiful, effective, inspiring. It’s an abs workout you’ll look forward to doing again and again.』
『It's hard to say how Shiva Rea would react to being called "the Madonna of yoga," a phrase that appears on the cover ofCreative Core Abs. But one thing is certain: the popular, California-based yogi's several DVD programs are uniformly first-rate, and this one is no exception. Roughly defined as the area between the upper thighs and lower ribcage, with particular focus on the abdominals and lower back, the core is "more than our physical center," says Rea; it is "our inner fire," the seat of our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual selves (not to mention the center of a great many yoga poses). Mindful that core exercises are for many of us "a duty, not a pleasure," Rea has designed three different programs (ranging from seven to seventeen minutes) that aim to offer a more creative, innovative approach to the work. The "Water Core" segment includes various seated movements, many involving the arms as well; there are also sequences done on the back, somewhat akin to the bridge pose, as well as the "water wheel," which combines lifting the hips while alternately extending the legs. The "Spontaneous Core" section incorporates some of the previous movements with several new ones, while the "Fire Core," the longest of the three, blends very challenging poses such aschaturangaand the forearm plank with familiar standingasanaslike the Warrior II. As usual, the musical accompaniment is effective but not intrusive, while the setting (New Mexico's White Sands National Park) and the HD cinematography by Sion Michel (a camera operator forMemoirs of a Geisha) are stunning. None of that may matter much while you're flat on your back, struggling to understand what it means to treat a pose as if you're "skateboarding on the empty bowl of your pelvis," butCreative Core Absis likely to yield satisfying results for those who stick with it.--Sam Graham』
