I have been three DR's no help and then went to a rheumatism and she send me to a real Back Dr and he stated if I do the surgery there is a 40% you will be worst. But, this DVD has helped my core back to be not in pain. I'm 5'7" and 135# and 53 years or age. If I can not have a surgery I'm better off. So, good for me and good for the DVD and Barbara Benagh for helping me thru the pain. And of course finding the the right Doctors to treat the pain and encourage me to do core back exercise to help my pain. Quess what it helped and do yourself the same.』
(Nice Beginner Program) 『This is my first yoga DVD and so far I don't think I could have made a better choice.
The length of the routines in the Getting Started section are all about 20-30 minutes. The instruction is really clear and the routines move at a comfortable pace. After about 3 weeks of using this DVD twice a week for about a half hour I started finding that that my body is able to do a little more each time and it's starting to really come together for me.
Remember to not skip the interview. You'll get some great info about the instructors approach and about yoga in general.』
(Very Nice) 『I borrowed a few videos from my sister. This was one I liked enough to get my own copy. I've enjoyed the variety of routines it offers. Different lengths and focusing on different things like hips, backbends, strength and others. This is a very nicely done video. Good, clear instruction, lots of variety and a lovely beach setting.』
(Men Do Yoga) 『My wife has been trying to get me to do yoga. I'm not the yoga type I told her I'd try a couple of her DVDs and see what I thought. I'll admit it, I was wrong about yoga. Half an hour in and I was hooked by how it made me feel. I started slowly, twice a week and have been sticking to it now for 4 months or so. Wish I'd listened to her earlier because I can see the added flexibility and different kind of conditioning really started helping me in my golf game, softball and other things like that.』
(I'm hooked on yoga now!) 『I wanted to give yoga a try for help in flexibility,so I purchased this DVD, and it has far exceeded my expectations. I think it will help me with flexibility( I've only had it a week),but it has helped me, surprisingly enough, in relaxing. I think the mental health benefits will outweigh the physical benefits for me. One routine in particular, "a gentle unwind" has been just wonderful. In fact, I've just ordered Barbara's "Yoga for Stress Relief" because this routine came from that DVD. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants physical activity that is truly relaxing and calming.』 『From the Editors of Body + Soul Magazine comes a new line of DVDs designed to excite, inform, inspire and encourage your quest toward a balanced and healthy whole life.

Barbara was kind enough to answer some questions from Amazon.com about this unique line of yoga DVDs.
How are these DVDs different from other yoga DVDs?
I was drawn to working with Bodywisdommedia because they produce DVDs they are interactive. Rather than a "one size fits all" single routine that is typical of most products, these DVDs offer choice, allowing the user to customize and change their yoga practice to suit their needs. No two persons are the same so the ability to change your practice - easing shoulder tension one day and an invigorating morning wake up the next - come as close as possible to allowing you to address your individual needs at home. Not only do people have different physical needs, but they have different time constraints as well. If you have only 20 minutes, there is a practice for you but there are longer practices as well (some as long as 90 minutes) that address the total body/mind connection. The sheer number of yoga sequences offered on each of these DVDs is a first. They are incredibly comprehensive.
How were you able to get the Dalai Lama involved?
This project dovetailed perfectly with the Dalai Lama's message that modern stress is one of the greatest obstacles to our mental happiness and physical wellbeing. Because we are long-time sincere practitioners, having a 30-minute lecture of the Dalai Lama teaching how to meditate on theYoga for Stress ReliefDVD was a perfect fit. Bodywisdommedia also has a broader relationship with the Office of Tibet and are releasing historic lectures with "A Path to Happiness" being the first one.
How will potential buyers of these DVDs know which one is right for them?
The titles are very indicative of what appears on the DVD and therefore a good guide. I really enjoyed makingYoga for Stress Reliefbecause it is incredibly relevant. We strove to make the sequences accessible to as many people as possible, whether they are a beginner or long time practitioner.Yoga for Beginnersis a great, non-threatening place to get started and includes lots of sound technique developed over my 30 years as a yoga teacher.Power Yoga for Every Bodyis a bit more challenging taking you from the beginning level and gradually progressing to much more demanding routines.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Yoga to Drop A Size) 『This is a great DVD. The sections with hand weights and bands are really good for toning up. I have dropped a jean size with this using this DVD and a couple others. I don't have any real yoga experience and I found this manageable. Some routines are more challenging then others. The instruction is very easy to follow and it's well paced.』
(Good Choice for the Beginner) 『As mentioned by previous consumers, this DVD takes the user through the explanation of Yoga's origins, the initial poses, short routines and longer routines. A great work out for all experience levels on one DVD.』
(A good workout) 『I bought this DVD specifically because of the "bonus routines" using bands and weights. I've worked these routines into my regular program and now alternate this DVD with running and Pilates. I am doing the non-weight and band routines too and they are great. The routines, which have been effective for me, are geared more for working out/toning and you are not lying on the floor for an hour though there are portions that are relaxing and more meditative to end the workouts. If you have no yoga experience, there is a lot of instruction though some sections in the advanced sections may be a bit more challenging, but very doable as you learn.』
(Not for Weight Loss) 『I've been doing yoga for a long time and have bought a number of DVDs for my home practice. I can't give it more than 2 stars because (1) I seriously doubt it will help anyone lose weight, so I find the title misleading; it is simply way too slow and the selected asanas not too difficult to generate enough energy to burn calories enough to cause weight loss (unless you are one of those completely stuck to your couch), (2) both the instructor and the yoga sequence she selected for this DVD do not inspire me at all and (3) I used this DVD no more than 3x, the 1st time to try it, the 2nd time to give it another chance and the 3rd time to convince me to use it again. I just can't use it any further.
I have given it 2 stars though because (1) some people may find this DVD doable, (2) the fact that it is at least structured and not disjointed, and (3) the instructor has at least some respect for the consumer who will buy her product, and has tried to put together a decent yoga flow for the beginners.』
(Very Good) 『I enjoy this DVD alot - the instructor is very good and the movements helped me learn yoga.
There is a good section which strarts you off with slow and clear movements that I was able to do - some standing and some sitting poses.
Later on in the DVD there are items which present a bit more of a work-out which were a bit more challenging then some of the easier poses early on, but the DVD is sectioned well so that you can get a handle on the movements.
Being new to yoga, and looking to get into better shape, this DVD is serving its purpose for me well.』 『Reshape your body and feel great with these easy to follow routines. Now you can burn calories while toning and stretching your entire body. These practices will leave you feeling invigorated, more energetic and de-stressed.

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (My Intro. to Yoga...) 『This is my first experience with yoga (although I have been doing pilates for about 2 years). At first, this DVD was a little, strange. I don't know, that's the only way to put it... It was more philosophical than I usually expect my workouts to be. But since I got over the quirks I have grown to like this DVD a lot and I will probably buy more of Ana Brett and Ravi Singh's products. If you are new to yoga I would recommend it because I was able to do all of the moves. My only complaint is that it is kind of long... you can program it to just put the parts you like but some people just find that too confusing.』
(energizing workout, practical wisdom) 『This dvd approaches weight loss from several dimensions -- physical, mental, emotional. The spiritual underpinning of kundalini yoga makes you feel wonderful as you exercise. It's a good workout and totally manageable. I remember Ravi's words when I think of doing things that I will feel bad about later.』
(Fabulous yoga DVD!!) 『I tried a Denise Austin yoga video a few years back and loathed it. I had no intention of trying yoga again until ankle pain forced me to try some type of non-weigh-bearing exercise. Despite my hesitancy, the wonderful reviews for Fat Free Yoga encouraged me to try the DVD.
I fell in love with this DVD from the first workout! I can hardly believe that I actually look forward to doing the yoga routine daily. I've only been using it for about two weeks but already my posture has improved, as well as my balance and flexibility.
My favorite part is the relaxation and meditation after each exercise. Ana demonstrates each movement so it is easy to follow. Ravi gives excellent instruction so that once you've viewed the DVD a few times you can do it without even watching the screen -- which is helpful because many of the exercises are done with your eyes closed! Ravi's voice is so soothing and I always feel both invigorated and relaxed after a workout.
The matrix feature is wonderful because you can choose your favorite segments in the order you choose, or just play one or two if time is an issue. I think the No Impact Aerobics and the Deep Relaxation segments are my favorites.
If you've been reluctant to try yoga, I encourage you to try this video. You'll probably find yourself falling in love with yoga and purchasing more of Ravi and Ana's DVD's like I have!』
(Give it a try-you won't regret it) 『If you are new to kundalini yoga give this one a try. This is the one I started with and I've been hooked ever since. Fat Free Yoga has changed my life. Kundalini yoga is whole different type of yoga-much different than the hatha yoga I was used to. It's very challenging, yet I feel so relaxed after I'm done. I feel loosened up from head to toe. It has really loosened up my spine and improved my posture. I feel like my sinuses clear up after all the breath of fire and I can breathe more deeply. My body literally hums for the rest of the day and I have so much energy.
The four 20 min segments are great if you want to shorten it up or if you are short on time but I find that even if I only plan to do one or two of them I almost always end up doing the whole thing. Once I start I just don't want to stop. The time flies by!
I have all but two of Ravi&Ana's workouts and this is one of my favorites as well as Yoga Bliss Hips, A Journey through the Chakras&Navel Power. So if you don't own this one already, get it now!』
(Be still my inner critic! This DVD is fantastic!) 『I was excited when I read so many positive reviews about this DVD, and am happy to say that they are all right! I have never loved a Yoga program like this one. I even find myself doing some of the moves in my office for a quick pick-me-up. I also bought the Yoga Bliss Hips and like that one very much too!

(Rodney Yee is truly a yoga genius...) 『I can not do all of this video as of yet...but even just the first 20 minutes challenge me and make me sweat... I am still about 30 pounds overweight and I need to develop more strength. This video is great for helping me lose weight and build strength. I combine this workout with Kundalini Yoga w/Raviana and Brian Kest's Power Yoga Series. He leads a challenging, constantly progressing series of poses, one flowing into the next, integrating breath, movement, tension, and relaxation. The poses include Sun Salutation, standing poses, forward bends, back bends, twists, and arm balances. The first poses are fairly easy, and with each repetition of the series, Yee adds on more difficult movements, extending the series without pausing. You're encouraged to do as much of the series that fits your level, up to the entire 65-minute workout if you're an experienced yoga practitioner. Although you can begin at any level, some familiarity with yoga is recommended. The Hawaiian setting is gorgeous and inspiring. I checked out this stress relief DVD (and who doesn't need this now??) and love it - I will be getting this one for a lot of people this year. It is a great DVD with tons of great routines on it.』
(Finally, a yoga practice for relaxation.) 『The best thing about this DVD is that it actually takes poses that are easy to accomplish, and lets you hold them for long periods of time. no sun salutations, no flow, just great stretchy poses and a lot of relaxation. I love this one - especially the lower back relief practice. After doing it 3 times a week for about 2 weeks, I am noticeably more flexible through the hamstrings, and always feel great after doing even a short "workout" from this DVD.
I have lower back problems, which I'm sure can be partially attributed to tight hamstrings, so this one is a winner with me.』
(Great Stress Reliever) 『Barbara is great in teaching how to reduce stress using yoga and how to use yoga to relieve physical issues. The DVD is orgaanized well so you can find what you need to do.
The breathing exercises are wonderful, very relaxing as you work on proper breathing and the lower back relief works well for me also. All in all a very good selection of routines to help with what ails you with excellant instruction on how to do the poses.』
(Give this to your college student) 『My stress reliever the first 3 years of college was a few drinks and adding in a party on the weekends. That wasn't working. My mom got me hooked on yoga this summer and sent me back to school with a few choice DVDs. Yoga for Stress Relief is my new favorite. Anyone who has way too much going on and under pressure to get it done and do it well can relate to insomnia, digestive issues and general fatigue. Getting this DVD has helped alot this semester.』
(Perfect Stress Relief) 『This DVD actually works. I love the fact that there are multiple workouts to choose from, and each one has a specific purpose. I look so forward to waking up in the morning just so I can pop in one of my KY dvd's and get my fix for the day. If for some reason I am not able to get in my KY in the morning I just feel blah. I feel so energized yet calm at the same time after completing any of their workouts. I recommend that you give this one a try. It is well worth it.』
(WOW, the search is finally over regarding my workout routine) 『I just purchased Kundalini Yoga for Beginners&Beyond, Fat Free Yoga and Ultimate Stretch Workout and just love them. The "5 Tibetan" segment is great for strength and stamina. Its a perfect all-in-one workout. I can't say enough about how much these 3 programs are doing for me and have never been excited about doing a workout before. I find myself thinking about when I get to do my next workout. I just wish I would have tried Ana&Ravis workouts sooner. I cannot wait to order more!』
(This is great for Everyone) 『This is my go to Kundalini yoga dvd when I want a good upper body focus. I love twists and this dvd has enough twists to satisfy! It is a great dvd for beginners. It is an excellent introduction into Kundalini yoga. You can learn and grow with the workout. I didn't find this type of yoga as hard as Hatha or other traditional yoga. It is a great stress reducer. Intermediate and advanced can also get a good workout especially from the 5 Tibetens segment! Whew, that section really makes you work! The set is plain which is good for me so I can focus on my yoga. I have yet to become bored of any of my Ravi and Ana dvds. Each one seems to have something special in it for me. Sometimes it a certain segment and others it's how the meditation at the end makes me smile.』
(Love It! Love It! Love It!) 『Ana Brett&Ravi Singh are amazing and their instruction is the best I've found. I attended one of their very crowded workshops recently and fell in love with Kundalini Yoga. They are great at explaining proper positioning and alignment and they remind you when to breathe. I am especially appreciative of their down to earth and caring qualities which translates nicely to their DVD's. Yoga is all about moving your body with your breath and when they combine poses with the breath, which is the hallmark of their Kundalini Yoga style, it really helps you to "get" INTO the poses. This is a more invigorating style of yoga workout (than the basic yoga practices on other DVD's) that will leave you energized and smiling. Set 1 is a great set for any beginner. My mother-in-law can do it with me sitting in a chair! Set 2 is a more challenging workout but still quite doable and easy to follow for beginners. I encourage all of you to give this one a try!』
(Kundalini Yoga for beginners and beyond) 『Still new to yoga. I like it, because it's different than the running or the weightlifting I do the rest of the week. It's a new excercise that my body still has to work up to. I've gotten more flexible and found that it helps ease some of my back pain.

The morning sessions are not more then 35 minutes long and a nice way to start the day. They get your energy flowing and your body moving. The evening sessions are a little longer and are nice for relaxing, getting rid of some tension and just unwinding. There's one for getting back some energy which is great for those days when you get home and need a kick-start to get through a full evening agenda.』
(Very good DVD for beginners) 『Pro: - cheap way to try yoga (much cheaper that classes). You just need the DVD, a mat (I bought it at a sport store for 25$), 2-3 pillows or blanckets. - 10 routines; 15 minutes the shortests, 45 minutes the longest, you don't need to spent 2 hours as you have to when you take a class outside. - No pre-scheduled classes. You can do it any time of the day. At your own pace (I do it when I wake up in the morning)
- Benefits: If you do it after you wake up in the morning, you just start the day in a more "positive" state of mind. You can feel your back posture improves. You will naturally put more attention on your posture day time. You feel a more flexible body, less sense of "heavy legs" or "thight muscles" or similar. My lower back pain I had before starting yoga, is gone. (I work in front of a computer 8 hours or more a day...)
Cons: - yeah, sometimes the "voice" talks too much but... remember, is a beginner DVD: better too many words (explaining what you are doing, how to do it, words of caution...) then too few words - A real good teacher corrects your mistakes better during the exercises
How I use it: In the morning I run the "wake up the spine" routine (35 mins) or "get up and go" (15 minutes), depending how much time I have. Almost every day. In the evening: Mainly the "Good night sleep", rarely the "unwind muscles tension". (both around 20 mins). Every other evening(more or less).
Yes, it will be the first thing I'll suggest to someone that tells me... "I have some back pain bothering me"』
(Excellent yoga routine) 『This is an excellent yoga DVD. The teacher demonstrates the poses well and is thorough with her instructions. I like the format of the DVD - it has many different routines with varying lengths and difficulty. This is definitely a great DVD for beginners. Also, each pose has its own track so if there's one you want to skip, it's easy to do so. Overall, I highly recommend this DVD!』
