It seemed to stretch more doing Warrior II pose than my usual mat, and after several days the original curl has not flattened out yet. The "matrix" system allows for endlessly new practices. If one day I feel I need to do some forward bends, I'll throw them in, or if I want to work on shoulder stand, I simply select that portion! It's fantastic! If I'm feeling energetic, I simply love the "Dancing Warriors."
The setting is lovely, and the background music is PERFECT. This DVD changed the way I did yoga. As someone who has practiced with this DVD for over a year - I can say confidently, you WILL enjoy this practice.
I would call myself a beginner-intermediate, and I'm not sure if this would be good for a beginner. Although, Shiva does provide cues for modified poses through-out and there is a "Basic" level to follow for those not familiar with flow yoga.

(Advanced beginners/intermediate practitioners) 『This DVD set was recommended by one of my yoga teachers, and I have had no regrets in making the purchase. I have a number of yoga DVDs to guide my practice at home, and I find myself going back to this DVD (as well as EVa Barash's Living Room Yoga) more often than others.
The practice DVD has 4 basic practices, but it also has a matrix that allows you to mix various segments to make your own practice sequence. It is difficult to get tired of the DVD because of this feature.
Whether you follow the set sequences in the DVD or make your own, your practice will be quiet, meditative, soothing, relaxing. This is primarily due to Shiva Rea's approach, soothing voice and choice of location, background music and asanas/poses. I love the meditation and the shavana (resting pose) segments. There is no rushing into anything. That said, the practices will make you work out a sweat!
The set also includes a "bonus" DVD containing an interview with Shiva Rea as well as other practitioners, additional (very useful and insightful) instructions and clips from India.
If you are a beginner, I will not recommend this until you have been practicing regularly for months. To the advanced beginners and intermediate practitioners who are looking for a suitable DVD, I highly recommend this. I give this 6 STARS!

(Best mat...hands down) 『If you're into yoga enough that you'd even entertain the idea of spending $75 for a mat, then you've come to the right place. Manduka's BlackMatPRO 71 is an incredible mat that will stand up to your level of yoga practice.
First of all, the thing weighs about 7 pounds. Yes, 7 pounds. Why? One word: quality.
*Put this mat down on carpet, and you'll have no problems--it will not buckle or give in downward facing dog.
*It's very "tacky" and I have never had any problems with it slipping on hard surfaces, or with my hands or forearms slipping, even while damp with sweat.
*At 71 inches (that's 5 ft 11 inches), it's also a bit longer than most yoga mats, which makes it nice for when you are doing something like corpse pose. (There's also an 85 inch version for you giants out there!) It's also wider (26 inches) than most yoga mats.
*It's 1/4 inch thick. It's soft to the touch, but it's not spongy so you're not as likely to lose your balance in tree pose.
Don't get me wrong: you can find much cheaper products that will totally do the trick. I've used those product for the past 6 years. But, with those products, I always had problems with buckling and the mat becoming slick once I started sweating. I am very glad that I stepped-up and bought this mat.
All-in-all this is a great mat and definitely worth the price if you are really into yoga.
I'd also recommend that you go ahead and pick up some sort of carrier for it (make sure it's big enough to accommodate it first), and Manduka makes a pretty nice one as a complement: the Manduka Large Mat Sak.
If you sweat a lot, then you'll probably also want to grab a towel: Manduka Large eQua Towel. All of these products together will run you about $160, which is A LOT, I know, but what price is ultimate comfort when you're practicing your daily asanas?』
