『For the Fisher Price Star Station: the music plays way too fast and there is no way to slow the words or melody down! They give the songs an alternative pop rock type beat- not the traditional melody.』

『I was disappointed with the songs that were ORIGINALLY available for the Star Station, until this&the Favorite Songs Rom Packs were introduced. These songs are so much more appropriate for little kids ages 2 to 6. My daughter knows many of these songs, she just needs to get used to the new beats. She didn't know any of the POP songs on the other Rom Packs so she would get bored easily with those. The adults in our family, however, we're having a blast with the other ones! My 4 year old daughter really enjoys this toy much more now that she has this rom pack to go with it!』

『I rated this toy 5 stars because it is very economical. I tried to make my own bead sequencing set for my three year old but couldn't put it together for less than the cost of this complete set.

I agree that the blue and purple colored beads are a little tough to distinguish and some of the pictures on the control cards don't readily match the real beads which makes this hard for three and four year olds.

However, in the Montessori preschool books I've read, this activity is set up a little differently. You take a tray and put one or two control cards with the necessary beads and a single shoe lace. At the start, I plan to make one lace, tie it off, and then put identical beads in the basket for my son to match. Then the young child has more chance of getting used to the process.

This kit has the capability of challenging a child for a few years as you add more colors and shapes of beads and increase the length and difficulty of the sequence.

I'm a do it your self type, but I love this toy!』

『My daughter is 2 and is amazingly active. She is rarely interested in anything for more than a couple of minutes, tops. The first time she played with this, she was engrossed for over an hour, and then went back to play with it some more about 3 other times in the same day. This has truly never happened before!

It has really improved her fine motor skills as well as her pattern recognition. There are a lot of little touches to this product that make it nice, too - a slot to hold the pattern "cards" upright, a nice clear lid to keep it all together, etc. I do agree with what others have said about the blue and purple being very close in appearance. Other than that, this toy is absolutely perfect!』

『Having purchased many Melissa&Doug products for my son, I did not hestitate to buy this. I was extremly disappointed. The blue&purple beads are so close in color that I cannot tell them apart, let alone my 2 year old! There are not enough beads to complete some of the sequence cards and the shapes are hard to determine. My son still loves to play with the set but as a teaching tool it is useless.』

『My son seemed to enjoy this item and I love it for the educational aspect. Patterns and sequencing are very important concepts in the early school years and even into the higher elementary grades, patterns/sequences show up in math homework&reading (i.e. sequence of a story). Sequence/pattern questions are also prominent on standardized tests. So this item is a great introduction, however, I agree with the previous reviewer, some beads are very similar making it difficult to discern on the pattern card - even I goofed on the first look. Blue does look too much like the purple and cylinders and squares look too similar on the pattern cards. Also, it needs more beads - my son wanted to fill all 5 posts but ran out of the 'right' bead to complete the additional patterns. As with all M&D toys, the quality of construction is great and even given the few minor flaws I mentioned, I would still purchase this item again.』

『I love Melissa&Doug toys and this one is a great concept. The patterns (that you copy with beads on poles) are on sturdy wood and vary in difficulty. However, there are lots of different bead shapes, and the pictures are sometimes hard to follow -- the oval bead looks a lot like the cylinder bead, blue looks like purple, etc. I found that I had to figure out what bead each picture was supposed to represent (not easy), teach that to my son (3 yrs), and THEN let him copy the patterns.』

(If you child likes the Disney Princess stuff, this is a good buy)
『Don't plan on using it for really cold weather. I know that cold is a matter of opinion, so I will just say that this is like a medium bed spread. Not as warm as a quilt or heavy blanket and it is not waterproof. The inside has a synthetic material that you find in the less expensive pillows. All that said, we take it camping and our daughter loves it. It gets her into that sleeping bag. We usually unzip it all the way (daughters preference) and that allows us to use extra bedding with it. So, even when it is somewhat colder, we can bundle our daughter and just lay the Disney Pricesses on top of the bundle. It makes her happy to a degree that made the purchase certainly worthwhile.』

『My daughter got this toy for Christmas when she was 18 months. I liked that the leash is actually long enough for a toddler to stand upright and pull, unlike on a lot of so-called pull toys. (It's not extremely long, though, so I don't worry about it as a choking hazard. It's just right.) However, the dog frequently tips over when it's being pulled around, which is quite frustrating to her when she's trying to "walking doggie." I think that's a real flaw. The barking, as someone else mentioned, is mechanical, not batteries -- another plus -- and it's not loud and annoying.』

『I have to wonder if Fisher-Price inadvertently switched the voice boxes for their choo-choo train and this little puppy. Instead of producing an "arf-arf," the best it can do is a "putt-putt." If you pull it in reverse--about as challenging for a tot as teaching a dog to walk backwards--the sound is altered in favor of a somewhat more "arfish" quality. The ears and tail move because they're loosely attached, not because of gears or mechanical coordination.

Anyway, my grand-daughter enjoyed pulling it (on its side) for a least a good five minutes, so it probably passes the most important reviewer's test.』

『My daughter (2 yrs and 3 months old) and I have been playing together with the floor puzzle almost everyday since we received it a month ago. The color and quality of the puzzle are just wonderful. She recognizes and loves all 14 animals in the puzzle. I taught her to always start with butterfly, then look for the pieces of animals next to the butterfly.

If I didn't fracture my tailbone before, I would have got down the floor more often to play the puzzle with her. I wish they have a smaller version of this puzzle and made of wood blocks so that we can sit and play it on a table and she wouldn't chew on the pieces.』

『I gave this to my son when he was probably about 26 months old and had outgrown his board puzzles. It was easier than some of the other floor puzzles because the pieces are giant and each piece shows part of at least one other animal. At around 28 months he was able to do it on his own. He loves that there are so many animals in it. My husband and I laugh at the odd assortment of creatures, but our son announces each animal as he puts it together. When he's done he points out each animal to us and sometimes he gives them all kisses (awe!).』

We learned about it on a t.v. commercial one morning she said "I want dat". The price is a bit high, however everytime the baby crawls to my baby the smile and laugh on her face makes it well worth it. The commercial doesn't show that you can "feed" the doll, but don't worry there is no mess like some of the dolls out there. These dolls really are ideal for 2 years and up. If you have your own baby princess you would like to make happy, buy her this, I guarentee you wont regret it. By the way Amazon.com is the only place I could find all of the disney baby princess crawl and feed, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, and Belle. Toys r us just had Cinderella in stock as did most other places.』

A Baby Doll Who Really Crawls
Baby Sleeping Beauty is based on the main character from the self-titled Disney movie. Any little girl who loves baby dolls or who is enthralled with the Disney Princesses will be delighted with this sweet baby doll. She comes dressed in a satiny, pink-colored baby onesie that is removable. Her "real" hair is styled with perky pigtails, and her large, cartoonish eyes give the baby an adorable expression. A lightweight plastic body and posable limbs make her durable and fun to play with.

Baby Doll Offers Range of Opportunities for Imagination
Baby Sleeping Beauty offers little girls a fun opportunity for pretend play. Our two-year-old toy tester, who is especially enamored with baby dolls, was immediately drawn to the sweet-looking doll. And while she enjoyed making the doll crawl around, she also enjoyed undressing and dressing her, cradling her, and pretending to bathe her and feed her. In other words, yes, the doll's crawling feature is definitely fun, but you don't need to worry about this doll being a "one-trick" pony, as she opens many possibilities for imaginative play.

We faced one minor problem: The toy's instructions indicate that the doll will start crawling if you call her name or clap, but really, any somewhat loud noise will get her moving. While this makes her really easy to play with, it also is a little bit frustrating: she'll try to crawl even if she's in a sitting position or if the child is trying to pretend that she's sleeping. There's a quick and easy solution: simply move the switch on her back to the "off" position when your child doesn't want her to crawl.
