(A great compromise and wonderful place to store the critters!) 『I have bought lots of the Calico Critters family series from Amazon and when I saw this case, I thought it would be a great compromise - i.e. not having to buy the more expensive Calico Critter houses. As a lot of the Calico Critter playsets come with tiny accessories, this carry n play case is practical as it has sufficient storage space for them. Also, this is a great case to bring along on playdates, or when travelling. My daughter was able to store some furniture, accessories, and up to a dozen Calico Critters in it when we travelled recently. My only complaint is the latch which is not strongly reinforced and opens easily. So, one has to be extra careful when carrying the case. But overall, I'd rate this item as a great alternative to purchasing the more expensive homes in the series, and a practical way to store and transport the critters and accessories.』

I saw the Carrying Case as a happy compromise. I'm pleased: the Carrying Case makes a very suitable home, and I've not had the problems other reviewers had with the latch. Perhaps they've fixed that problem.
So far, we've acquired three playsets ("Halley and Colin Have Fun at the Park" and "A Carriage Ride for Connor and Kerri" and "Zach and Sandy's Bike Riding Adventure"), bunk beds, and the Norwood Mouse twins, and have ample room to store more stuff in the case. My daughter adores her Calico Critters (and they are adorable, in spite of being ridiculously overpriced!), and it all stores in less than 5" of space on a shelf.』

I tried to open the latch the very first time and the latch came off in my hands! It is only attached to the cardboard frame by what look like 4 small eyeglass screws. I tried to put them back in (after searching the floor for the tiny screws!) but the holes were stripped and it was impossible to put them back in. I was pleasantly surprised at how long the dinosaur actually walks by itself. This, for him, is on par with Curious George, keeps him occupied for long periods of time. His only frustration is trying to put the door in place. (I THOUGHT THE MACHINE WAS DEAD***THE GAMES WERE JUST DUSTY!) 『I purchased the V tech smile game and machine about 4 years ago. After 2 years it just quit. It wouldn't power on, it was just dead.
Recently I decided to purchase a second one as we have over 10 games. The machine worked for an hour and then it quit, again there was no power. In frustration I returned it to the store for a new one and the machine quit again after a few minutes of game play.
In all situations the systym would not turn on again after we changed games. I took a game cartridge and pushed it down to expose the hardware and I blew my breath on it several times. I inserted the game again, unpluged and repluged the cord and it worked again.
Sooooooooo what I realized was that my games were dusty and wouldn't play in the machine. I quickly blew on all the games and then every one of them worked. I got out my 4 year old game systym, plugged it back in and put in a new game that I had blown the dust off and it worked. The entire problem of the machine acting like it was dead was because the game cartridges were dusty!!!!! We do have to unplug and plug in the game systym to get it working again.
I have read that many people have trouble with the machine just dying without warning. I think if you just blow the dust off the games, unplug and plug the cord back in, then your machine will work again.
Big relief to me as we really enjoy the learning aspects of this game.』

Usually ships in 3 to 6 weeks IPhone 3G used's review (Fine Family Room Furniture) 『Wow! This is a really nice family room set! We already have the Calico Critters Living Room, which we liked, but this set has many more nifty details.
First, the furniure itself. The two chairs are two-tone plastic, straw and tan, that is molded into a wicker look. Each chair comes with a green fabric seat cushion that adds some color and pizazz. The seat bottom also has the wicker molding, so even if you lost your cushions, the chairs look good. The chairs are deep enough that even our critters with bushy tails can sit in them. The coffee table matches the chairs - two-tone, wicker look, sturdy plastic. Next is the bookcase. It is plain brown plastic and has two shelves and a working tan wicker look drawer. The folding screen is a different shade of tan, wicker look plastic, and has four panels that are hinged together. The screen isn't really useful, but can add depth or interest to your room set-up. I like the way these pieces can be arranged in many ways to fit even a small room. If this was all that came in this set, I would have been happy - stylish, sturdy furniture that my daughters' Critters can use.
But there is much, much more! The area rug seems to be a 6x9 piece of burlap with finished edges. The burlap texture is interesting, like sisal, but flat enough that all the furniture and Critters can stand securely on it. The bigger (as in less likely to be lost) accessories include a wicker look wastebasket with a lid, a magazine rack/basket, a brown tea tray, a basket/bowl with fruit (I think!) and a picture frame with adhesive on the back to stick on a wall. I don't like these picture frames, because I think they ruin the dollhouse, and tossed it without showing it to the girls. (But with so many accessories, they haven't even missed it). A small strip of lace is included to place on the top of the bookcase, and it is the only item I'm disappointed in. It's just a snip of seam lace with raw edges, and doesn't match the quality of the rest of this set. (But it's a very minor accessory, not important at all, just wanted to be accurate).
Then we have the smaller items. I think that the CC small accessories and details are too much fun, but I don't think I would pay extra for them, because the reality in my house is that they tend to get lost. That said, I am pleased with all the cute, small things in this set, because the price isn't as high as many of the other sets. The tiny items include things for tea (teapot with lid, plates, cups and eensy-weensy spoons, a small picture frame to set on the bookcase, clock and letter basket. There is a paper sheet that has 3 magazines (with pages) to punch out and fold together, and a sticker sheet with the clock face, 2 choices of photos for the frame, 4 letters for the letter basket, and 4 pictures for the wall frame.
Bottom line - this a really cute family room set, and a good value. I think this version is being retired (new version has an aquarium and costs more), so buy it while you still can!』
(Worth every penny!) 『I opened the package before my daughter saw this set. I am going to set up furniture in her new doll house for her 4th birthday present. The details of this Calico Critters set will amaze you: actual letters for the mail basket, tiny spoons for the tea set, magazines, multiple picture stickers from which to choose to fill picture frames, and lots of other tiny accessories. The set seems to be very well-made and durable.
I hope the Chinese paint is lead-free. I'll test the set this weekend, and update this posting if I find lead.
On a barely related note, I bought the Ryan's Room "Home Again, Home Again" dollhouse instead of the Calico Critters deluxe home because the rooms are large enough to accommodate Calico Critters, C. C. furniture&little arms!』

I wouldn't have known she didn't have any batteries except that when we pressed the "try me" button, nothing happened. As this was a gift, we unboxed her, installed the batteries and tried her out. She did dance, purr and whirr and extended her antenna and arms while blinking loudly. It's cute, but as with most gifts like this, she'll likely entertain the little one for a few days... or at least until they get her to give up the obvious "baby fuzz" tucked up underneath her... and then be forgotten. (Stubborn Fuzz) 『I gave Fuzz as an Xmas gift to my niece (age 3.5). We all tried to get that little rascal to perform but Fuzz was having none of it. It would move its eyes and purr a little, maybe extend its antennae?, ears? then curl right back up into a ball.
Perhaps hers was damaged out of the box, but my niece quickly became bored and irritated with Fuzz. She even tried to forcibly pull out Fuzz's appendages against its will.
It was kind of funny, really, a bunch of adults and kids trying to coax this hairball out of sleep; until I thought about all the loot I just dropped on it, and the fact that my niece was having a much better time with a stuffed doggie that cost about 1/5 as much.』

The six year old really enjoyed playing with it, but it was obviously quite basic for her. I was concerned though that the two year old was going to have a hard time with it. The screen is pretty small and the number and shape keys are a little hard for little fingers to press. Nevertheless, she has had a blast with it. Both girls have sat down for 10-15 minutes at a time and played cooperatively, with the older one occasionally showing the younger one which keys to press. It was well worth the money to buy this inexpensive and durable toy.』
(Great travel toy) 『We got this for our 2 year old before a long multi-airplane trip, and it was worth every penny. It's a lot smaller than it looks in the picture, but was perfect for his little hands, he likes to open it and close it and hear the little theme songs that accompany a number of the buttons. He could also play some of the games, mainly the "we've lost a letter, can you find it" game, but also the basic "can you find the shapes" game. There's some stuff about adding and subtracting asteroids that's way over his head, but that didn't matter too much. In any event, he was totally obsessed with it during our weeklong trip and two 14 hour airplane trips, and it was totally worth it for that. Now that we've been home for two months he still plays with it for 5 or 10 minutes a day, it's particularly handy when you're trying to pack a bag or something and need him to be busy for a few minutes. So: Worth $20 in every sense of the word. We've probably dropped it 200 times, and it's doing fine. Off the main point, I have to say my favorite thing about it at this point is that our kid now says things like: "That's correct" and "asteroid" in a CP30 accent, which is hilarious. Overall, it's kind of an odd toy, the technology feels very Tron-era 1980's, but if your little one likes "computers" and button-mashing and you have love in your heart for campy 1980's tech this thing is awesome.』

A doll house was always my favorite toy as a child, and I had the old metal ones. This dollhouse is kid friendly and adorable. I know she will love it!』

It is cute and since the details are all stickers, there aren't lots of things to be broken.
One problem would be the many, small accessories. I have had to put them away because while my three year old isn't likely to put them in his mouth, his one year old brother is. The baby, baby carriage, books, dishes, etc, are in a little box that he can pull out when his baby brother is napping.
