This doll is not cuddly and is very hard to hug and drag around the house the way my daughter likes to do. There are too many little accessories and it's just too complicated for a two year old - may be better for an older child.』
(Cutest Baby Doll Ever) 『I got this doll for my daughter's 5th birthday. I had already bought the regular Baby Alive for her for Christmas&it was a TOTAL disappointment. She was defective&her eyes fluttered while making this horrible stuttering sound. We called her Baby Possessed. Hasbro was awsome&sent us out another doll, but she had the same defect. My daughter was devastated, so I ordered Baby Alive Wet 'N Wiggles, the boy version. He is adorable! He giggles, he gurgles,&he cries, but not as often as he giggles. Kudos to Hasbro on his voice chip - he sounds just like a real baby. His little arms&legs move up&down as he laughs&my daughter pretends she is tickling him. He has a cute face with rosy cheeks&we just love him. We've named him Aaron. What I also like about this doll is he is not as big&heavy as the regular Baby Alive&he is much more life-like. He is perfect for a younger child, but an older child will love him, too. As a mom&even as a child I was not much into baby dolls (I preferred Barbie), but this little guy is a great toy. I would recommend him to anyone. Even my two year old son likes to interact with this doll. Buy this doll. You will not be disappointed.』

One, it kept falling over. Little brother tipping it over contributed greatly to this problem. I was able to take apart the base, which is hollow, by removing 4 screws. Then, I got a Ziplock bag and filled it with sand...actually I double bagged, a hole would be QUITE messy. I then replaced the base being careful not to puncture my bag with the screws. Weighting the base worked GREAT at keeping this toy upright. The next problem is that the suspension cables keep coming loose. Easy to fix, but annoying. I plan on replacing them with black zip ties...have not done that yet, but I think it will work. With those changes, I think the toy will be great. Not sure why the manufacturer could not have come up with these little fixes....I wish the crane lifting motor was a little stronger too... hot wheels cars are about as much as it can handle. Well, I sound pretty negative about this toy, but it is a great value for the money and my son is the true judge.』

Anyway, I bought a new Cootie game for my grandkids and what a piece of crap! Now, I don't know if it was this particular manufacturer or not, but I returned it to the store, the quality was that bad. You actually had to break the plastic pieces apart yourself. This game is so much fun if it were made well. Even if you can only count to 6 you can play this game, so that means little brother and sister can play. If this edition of the game is made well I'd give it a definite FIVE STARS. Made poorly, don't bother. Do the game manufacturers read this stuff? They should. Check out an old Cootie game on the web. Each piece had its own little spot in the box so that you didn't lose anything. Those were the Cootie Days.』
(cootie uh-oh) 『my two girls ages 3 and 18 mo, love this game. they enjoy putting the bugs together and of course fight over who gets which parts. The DOWN SIDE- the parts don't stay together. Every two minutes (or less) the girls are saying "uh-oh" or "help please" because on of the billion pieces included has fallen off. They haven't yet gotten frustrated with this, I guess because when a piece falls off they can just make a new combination by choosing a different part. However, it's frustrating for me because the purpose of the game (sometimes) is to occupy them, and allow me time to get something done- the only thing I'm getting done is assisting in bug assembly. Come on hasbro/milton bradley you are a big company and should be able to make a simple game that's been around for years work right. Please!』

This afternoon it took FOREVER for my 5 year old to roll a one, then a two. (She wouldn't play any other way except by the rules, and those are the rules). My 3 year old couldn't concentrate long enough to get enough parts to build a cootie, although he did pretty well. We finally stopped and just built cooties. The parts don't fit well. Little kids need help putting in the parts, and the parts fall out too. Not fun.』

The big problem: I wish game makers would stop using the cheapest plastic and paper they can find. The peices don't fit properly into the cootie bodies and many either fall off or can't be squeezed into the holes. It's so frustrating. Two of the small peices broke off and are still stuck in the holes in the cootie body so we can't use those pieces or the body anymore. What a dissapointment.』

(My 7 year old daughter has loved these since toddlerhood) 『My daughter has played with the 80's version of the Calico Critters at Grandma's from age 3 on up, and was delighted when she received this mouse family for her birthday. She loves imaginative play and has made a beautiful homemade shoebox house for her little mice, including furniture made from household odds and ends. She is getting her brother another Critter family for his 5th birthday so their families can be neighbors.
These are wonderful toys, very cute and well-made. Their arms and legs move, and their little outfits are adorable. The only difficulty we've had so far is in tying the tiny outfit ties when they come undone (such as the baby twins' miniscule outfits that are tied with tiny bows). They are quite durable, just as the 80's versions were (and are). I highly recommend them for any child who has a good imagination and who loves pretend play with families.』

He didn't play with it much, but now at 3 years old, he loves this game. He loves the whole Thomas family and this game is his favorite. The manners they teach are good, and my son likes to play along with the characters is acting out the manners or emotions. As for the durability of the disk, not so good. We are on our second disk now. Even with very little handling by my sons, the disk is scratched just enough to not work for some of the games. It shuts off when trying top play. I wish they could find a way to make them more durable for a product for kids and used by kids. I do put the disk in for him, but occasionally he will get a hold of it and I guess it gets scratched easily.』

(Little Leaps Thomas) 『I purchased this and Dora at a special discounted rate around the holidays for my 2 yr old son. We tried Dora first and both of us were bored. So I was skeptical about how Thomas would be. But thank goodness my son enjoys it, as do I. While he doesn't watch the Thomas television show he is familiar with the trains so it grabs his interest. This game covers manners, feelings, letters and numbers and focuses on social skills. As far as the toddler Little Leaps line goes I find this one to be one of the best ones, with Leap Ahead as my second preference, though I don't care for the LeapFrog characters on it (we have yet to try the Backyardigans game).』
(Great for toddlers) 『I just got this for my 2 year old. We have a few of the ones that first came out. He enjoyed them but they didn't hold his intrest as well as this one. My son isn't a big thomas fan but he played staight through this one and wanted to play again. It talks about manners and letters and numbers. It really got him using the joystick which the others didn't. The only reason I didn't give it a great durability rating is because as anyone who has this system knows they are on dvds and although my son hasn't broken one of these yet he has broken other dvds. (Educational, but weird choice of symbols) 『We like Melissa and Doug puzzles, but this one is a little different. The alphabet pieces are easy to maneouvre, like their other puzzles, but the ideas that they chose to represent each letter are sometimes weird/confusing.
A is for apple, B is for basket, C for carrot, D for duck, E for egg (why is the egg blue? My kid thought it was a balloon), F has a picture of a bird, implying 'feather'. Too off-track for my 2 year old. Other unusual ones: I is for insect. J is for jumprope, Q is for Quail. T for tie, V for vine, Y for yarn.
Why didn't they choose items that weren't so 'obtuse', like F is for foot, I is for ice cream, Q is for quilt, or 'quack' (duck)T is for toes, V is for vaccuum, Y is for yam/yogurt/yellow...why didn't they hire me? ;)
By the time my kid knows these words himself, he will be too old for the manipulative side of the puzzle.
So, you have to be ready to do the puzzle with your young child, if you are practicing words.』

IPhone 3G used's review (Classic Toy) 『This IS a throwback -- it's probably been around twenty years. Calico Critters were marketed as Sylvanian Families in the 80's, and manufactured by Tomy. Not sure of the licensing history, but this is one of the original sets. Most of the dark green items are, and many of the animals have been around quite awhile. CC use standard dollhouse scale, which means you can mix them with a lot of other sets, too. The bathroom and kitchen sets, which have been updated, had the most play value, and the bunkbed was great, too. The houses are expensive, and cramped, but an old or cheap bookcase that can be wallpapered or painted makes a great house/storage unit. Anyway, had this one, liked it a lot, and when I last checked, the toys are still in pretty good shape, so, while these are expensive, they last well. The hangers don't hold onto anything very well, but they stay in the wardrobe, and are a cute detail.』
(Basic, But Has It All) 『This is a nice, simple bedroom set for your Calico Critters. All the pieces are made out of the same sturdy solid green plastic. The bed's headboard and footboard have a panel look, and there are balls on the posters. The mattress is a polka dotted fabric/canvas. The wardrobe has 2 opening doors with metal handles. Inside, there is a small mirror on one door, a hanging bar, and a small working drawer on the floor. The only accessories with this set are hangers - 4 beige plastic ones. My girls don't have any extra Calico Critters clothes, so the hangers don't get much actual use, but they enjoy having them in the wardrobe anyway. A small vanity has a tilting mirror and 2 small working drawers. There is also a small bench to use as a seat. The bed, wardrobe and vanity all have decorative flourishes at the top, much more stylish than square boxy pieces.
This set isn't perfect, but I am satisfied with it. We're always looking for more beds for our dollhouses, and the wardrobe and vanity don't take up too much space. My main complaint is that the bed and bench are too small. This set is called a Master Bedroom, but the bed is only 2 1/2 inches wide, and is actually the exact same bed as the one in the Girl's Pink and Lavendar bedrooms (just a different color). You can put two Critters on it, but they have to be balanced and will partially hang off the sides - this is true for parents or kids. It's really just a single bed. The bench is also a little too small. I can carefully seat a Critter on the bench in front of the vanity, but my daughters (5&8) have more trouble. Most of the time, they just have their Critters stand in front of the mirror.
This bedroom set seems to be a bit of a "throwback" for Calico Critters, and much plainer than the new, more elaborate (and more expensive) offerings. Most of the new sets are more decorative and have many accessories. For example, the girls lavendar bedroom bed (the exact same bed) is white with purple balls, instead of being a solid color. That set also comes with many accessories (the box says over 30). I like having some of the "simpler" sets, because the many accessories cost more, and, at least in my house, tend to get lost quickly. Also, keep in mind that even though this set is all solid green, the styling IS decorative - the bed is exactly the same as the fancy girl's bedrooms - just solid green instead of pink and white, or lavendar and white. The accessory I do wish was included, though, is the bedding. A pillow and bedspread would go a long way to jazz up the design of this set.
Bottom line - I'm happy to have this set. If you have to choose just one bedroom set, it's a tough call. The more elaborate sets are, well, more elaborate, but this one has everything your kids and their critters need (especially if you cut a remnant for a bedspread).』
