Yes, I know, they're for young children, but even the web-based games for toddlers have better graphics and are sometimes more user-friendly.
That said, my three-year-old does like the Clickstart, and is able to navigate it without help. The Toy Story game isn't all that impressive, for the money, but that's a complaint I have about Clickstart cartridges in general. She enjoys being able to manipulate the familiar characters, and is building some directional skills. Except for the opening sequence with Zurg, however, the characters bring little of the flavor of the movie to the play of the game, and they could easily be any other sprite.』
(My son loves it) 『My son loves it. He is a Toy Story fan, so I was sure that he was going to love it. He plays it a lot. The only issue for a 3-year old kid is that it is kind of difficult to play certain stages of the game with the mouse, but I am sure the older he will get, the easier to play it will become for him.』
(Fun, Entertaining, and Educational) 『My 3yo loves her clickstart computer and this is one of her favorite games. When you enter the game's menu you have the choice between 3 characters. Then you have to choose between 3 locations: Andy's house, the street, or the pizza place. All the locations are the same thing with different scenery. A number will be displayed at the top of the screen and, using arrow keys, the player will have to touch that number...which will release "aliens". Then the player has to "collect" those aliens. If the player runs into a wrong number then the game will say something like "that is the number 7, you are looking for the number 5" (this is in level 1). So the player learns numbers.
This game is great because the player can jump on furniture and use special tools (paperclip, bouncy box, etc) to get launched into the air. Plus it teaches numbers and collecting the aliens is fun.
It is a disappointment because all the other game cartridges offer 3 different games...this one offers the same game with choice of 3 characters and 3 different scenes.
Should you buy it...yes. For the simple fact that kids love it and it is educational. (Best Fire Truck Find for Two Year Old Twins!!!) 『My two-year old twins, who are VERY hard on their toys, simply HAD to have a fire truck, complete with LIGHTS and SOUNDS, for their 2nd bday... well, after months of searching high and low online and in stores, this fire truck fit the bill. The main selling point for me was that it came with a DVD - however, the fire engine I received DID NOT come with a DVD, so that was kind of dissapointing. Overall though for the price it is still a great toy for a 4 year old little boy - his eyes lit up!! I just don't reccommend it if you are banking on getting the DVD. If not, but it up - it's great!』

I kept it in my hand luggage with a few other toys as quiet "plane trip" toys. Initially he wasn't terribly interested (at one year old) but as time has moved on he has become more interested. He likes to put the animals into and out of the bowl examing them through the plastic. He will spend time also squishing the bowl on its own to see the water moving around and things in the water move around. Now he is 14 months he has taken to using the animals in it as balls playing catch and fetch with his teenage brother. None of the animals make huge noises, although one has a squeaker which is the loudest. It does not take batteries, packs into a small bag if you are travelling and doesn't damage the furniture when it is launched by a teenager trying to amuse his baby brother. All in all it is very good value for money toy.』

(Great Mat, But "game mode" is too fast for beginning age group.) 『I know a lot of people are complaining about the "game-mode" of the dance mat. I completely agree that the game is too advanced for a 3-year-old, maybe even 4, but I think this is a benefit. This gives the mat more longevity and my son (who just turned 3) will play with it for longer. Right now, he really enjoys making his own music by jumping on the different characters, or playing "back-ground" music to the 4 pre-made songs. I haven't found any problems with needing to have your feet in a specific place. I have played on this mat several times, and, if anything, I feel it is pretty generous with where you can step. Also, I have played the dancing game twice, and it is hard, but I was able to play for a minute. I think it is a great stepping-stool kind of toy. I would highly recommend this, but if you are looking for a "follow-me" kind of game for a 3 year-old, this mat isn't for you.』

Ours also did not arrive with the needle for the pump, but again we had one.』

(Cute Idea somewhat poorly executed) 『Let me preface this by saying that I generally a big fan of Melissa and Doug toys, particularly in this time of toys of questionable safety, where Melissa and Doug shines as a leader (of safe toys, that is). I also am generally NOT a fan of noisy toys, but this seemed pretty harmless overall, and at least it only makes noise as pure cause and affect, not like many leapfrog and other toys, or so we thought. Like other reviewers, we have found it to go off on it's own because it works by photocell only on the puzzleboard side, rather than having a matching sensor in the puzzle pieces as well like some of their other toys. This is only mildly annoying (and only if the puzzle isn't put away!), and kind of funny. Especially hysterical is when the sun is going down and every couple minutes another one goes off, because each has a slightly different senstivity or angle from the sun. Definitely do not keep this in a child's room! Ultimately, I'd say this toy is a pass, but not very reflective of the overall good quality of the Melissa and Doug line.』 『The Farm Sound Puzzle is a new twist on classic peg puzzles. I think that they would be better served to make a longer/larger product that rocks better and label it for older kids.』

(Fun Toy!) 『I bought this toy for my two daughters, ages 2 and 4-1/2. They really like riding on it, although my older daughter isn't quite as interested in it. I really like that it's a natural color and it blends in with our backyard. It's also got a cool design and is very sturdy (sometimes I "sit" on one side while my younger daughter is on the other side and it holds me fine). The other thing I like about this toy is it can be used by one, two or three kids at a time so it's very versatile. I definitely recommend it!』
