Learning Carpets
Usually ships in 2 to 4 weeks IPhone 3G used's review (Christmas shoppers beware) 『I ordered this item for my grandson for Christmas. I haven't opened it yet, but it appears to be of GREAT quality. My only concern is that if you too order it for Christmas, BEWARE. It didn't come with any wrapping, just clear packaging that shows what the product is and a shipping label. Luckily, Andrew lives 1200 miles away and the surprise was not be spoiled.』
(Better than I expected and a big hit with our 5 year old.) 『Our 5 year old just received this for his birthday and he wants nothing more than to play with it nonstop. He has used both his Pixar Cars diecast cars as well as his Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars on it. Although the Pixar character cars don't fit exactly within the lanes this doesn't bother him at all.
As picky parents, his dad and I thought the graphics could have been a bit better--there are a couple of places where one lane of the two land road narrows noticeably and it too narrow even for a Hot Wheel to not go over the center line. We also thought the actual road layout was a bit dodgey and could have been thought out better. Details like this don't detract from the play value, but they don't enhance the educational value.
On a positive note, I will say that this rug exceeded my expectations in two areas. First, the carpet is soft and supple. I was very pleased that it rolled out and stayed flat instead of suffering from carpet curl at the ends as I feared it would and like so many cheap and stiff runner carpets will. It is a runner size, long and narrow and our five year old can unroll it and lay it out by himself (a real plus!). Second, I expected that the carpet would smell, I have had unpleasant experiences in the past with chemical odors eminating from the backing material of carpets. There was none of that here. The carpet was absolutely benign in this regard straight out of the wrap. What a relief.
It is hard to say how durable the carpet will be, but it certainly seems sturdy. If we can keep the cat off of it and dirty shoes it should stay nice for a long time.
Overall, I am very happy with this carpet and with how much our son seems to be enjoying it.』
(Great Imagination Builder) 『I bought this for my 3 year old grandson who likes small cars. Before he only lined them up and pushed them on the floor. This "rug" now gives him a purpose and he really enjoys it: parking the cars, obeying traffic lights, stopping for pizza, visiting friend's house, etc. When he's finished playing after a while, his parents just roll it up and put it away. The colors seem bright and the product appears well made. The variety of places to go that are printed on the rug is very good for his age.』

The parents are high on "girl power" so there is a non-sexist attitude about appropriate puzzles for their daughter. Dad is very interactive with his daughter when they do this puzzle together.』

However, the tool puzzle that we received is NOT hand painted as described, and like all of the other ones that we have. Instead, the pieces have sticker pictures on them and several of them are already peeling off at the edges. (We got this today.) Durability aside this is a good product and I recommend it.』

(Exceedingly well made but lacking - though not made in China) 『We purchased these for the Victorian Doll House, also from Plan Toys. As in the rest of this company's line, the materials are made from replenishable rubber tree wood and colored with non-toxic vegetable dye. That said, the family figures are a bit on the dull side, the father looks like he wears a bad toupee, the clothes are affixed to the bodies, and if they were taken off you'd be confronted with an armature of wood and resin-coated braided steel.
On the other hand, they are super durable, withstanding wild raging tantrums and the crunching heft of a mother-in-law's clawed foot. They also stand upright quite well.』

(Grandma Mac) 『This was for my 3year old granddaughter for her birthday along with a doll house and furniture. We waited to give the doll house last because it was put together by Grandma. She opened the family and sat them on the table , then she opened the furniture same thing, no comment, then when she opened the doll house she put furniture and baby brother in bed and put herself in kitchen I think Dad ended up in bath tub,she walked Mom around the house talking to her.
No question they were a hit and even two weeks later still being played with everyday, her younger brother put the family in his trucks and cars.
So I purchased the modern family this week. I would recommend these toys because of safety features. I have already ordered more items.

The teeter totter is well-made and very attractive, but I think it would be better for older children. It did not hold the interest of my two year old twins. The rocking motion on grass is not that great, so they need to be old enough to move it better or use it on a hard surface. I think that they would be better served to make a longer/larger product that rocks better and label it for older kids.』

(Fun Toy!) 『I bought this toy for my two daughters, ages 2 and 4-1/2. They really like riding on it, although my older daughter isn't quite as interested in it. I really like that it's a natural color and it blends in with our backyard. It's also got a cool design and is very sturdy (sometimes I "sit" on one side while my younger daughter is on the other side and it holds me fine). The other thing I like about this toy is it can be used by one, two or three kids at a time so it's very versatile. I definitely recommend it!』

It came with a cute plastic mat that fit perfectly over their play table. I opened three colors for each and showed them how to use the many accessories that were included. They played NON-STOP (a few potty breaks only) for FOUR hours. I can't remember the last time a new toy held both of their attention for that long. A MUST BUY for toddlers. Clean up just took a few minutes to wipe off the mat and a pick up a few playdoh crumbs that had escaped to the floor. Now if I can just keep my son from mixing the playdoh colors... :)』

The older ones had pictures painted on the wood board, this one has a paper picture glued on. The safety of your baby eating that paper and glue is unclear...
On top of this, the board is not solid wood, but looks like a few thin boards pressed together (sorry, don't know what it's called!) - the edges are very sharp, I tried to file the rough sides down and cut my hand!
Of course, no way my son is playing with this puzzle, so all its cuteness and pretty sound education value - along with my money, are going to waste. Think twice before buying.』
