(Design flaw on the wing assembly) 『As others have noted, there seems to be a design flaw on the wing. Once the curved sockets on the wing hooks onto the body, you're supposed to pull the wing forward where a little retention clip on the wing snaps into the body (this is hard to describe in a review!) Well, it just wouldn't clip, leaving the wing wobbly and unable to be played with without it falling off immediately. Upon inspection, there was a little extra bit of plastic blocking the wing from coming forward enough to engage the retention clip. It's clearly not intended to be there.
Fortunately, a little surgery on the back assembly worked. I used an exacto knife to hew off the plastic bit protruding out and once I did, the wing snapped in securely as it was clearly intended to do.
Long-awaited fifth birthday present salvaged and I have one happy little girl who is now snoozing with her arm around her new Mariposa doll.
I will post a picture of what I did in case it helps others, assuming I can find a time when said five year old is not hugging it.』
(Fairy-magination) 『Yes, the wings come off, bhut it is not as bad or frustrating as some reviewers have complained. The wings snap back on in about 10 seconds a wing. The doll is best for a 5+ child. The wings are beautiful and capture fairy-magination of girls.
On the wing falling off issue, I used this toy to as a teaching tool of treating things gently and with care. My daughters never "cried" about the wings falling off. If they became frustrated by the toy I suggested that they need to play with care or change activities if they wanted to play rough. Overall, it is a nice toy, it inspires fairy story making/roleplaying and is beautiful.』

My daughter was very sad about this at first, but still enjoys playing with her wingless Barbie. Her tiara also broke. It is a fun toy and I appreciate that it has animal sounds, but there is also an on/off button for when they get to be a little annoying. Batteries last forever in this toy. I haven't had to change ours once in 7 months.
I have also had problems with the silo detaching from the barn. One of my twins figured out how to detach it on the day she received it and they often detach it while playing with it. I've reattached it loads of times and it doesn't seem to affect the durability of the toy, but it is a little annoying. My biggest annoyance is that even setting the sheep on his stand makes the 'baaa baaa' noise go off incessantly. Maybe I have a faulty model, but the sheep button is very touchy. (This is why the on/off button is a good thing.)

IPhone 3G used's review (Amazing: It IS a perfect toy!) 『There are other magnet dolls by Melissa and Doug, all equally as good! I wouldn't (like other reviewers) say Melissa and Doug's quality is top-notch on all their toys we had a hammer toy splinter apart and another "wooden" puzzle that was just thin sheets of wood glued one atop another to make each wooden piece chunky and we're constantly glueing that back down as each piece peels up BUT in the case of this toy it's SOLID. Even the magnet holds well to the wood, no peeling up, quite durable.
And you can't beat the Amazon price, free shipping, no sales tax, under $10. We paid $[...] at Barnes and Noble because that's where we first saw them and thought the idea was ingenious.
My only complaint would be that each magnet doll comes with a wooden stand she can placed in but because the doll is so top heavy really any slight movement of her topples her out of the base. My DH was thinking of making another wider base to combat that issue.
While we love all their magnet dolls the clothing parts are, sadly, not interchangeable so we have to bag each doll separate. But that makes for easy portablity, one for upstairs, one for down, one in the diaper bag LOL.
And we got these when my DD was no longer chewing on toys, that was about 20 months old and so even though there are smaller parts (the gloves on this one, for the ballerina one the shoes) she has never had any issues with choking on anything. It has helped improve her coordination, she's now 2 and getting the parts on in the perfect spots.』

(Very nice) 『I wanted good wooden pretend food (hate plastic toys) and I wanted a nice starter selection for a good price without having to buy, say, a separate veggie or fruit set. This is a basic food groups set so you get (4) little wooden crates filled with meats, veggies-n-fruits, dairy, and grains.
That said, after receiving the product, I can confirm that buying separate sets would have yielded superior pretend food, but would have quadrupled the investment. Besides, the kids love it and engage in all the rich, imaginative and independent play parents love to peripherally watch while reading the newspaper or something.
In summary, Pros: -All wood, nice all-in-one selection -Kids like it a lot

However, the paint chips off in large pieces every time it is dropped. I don't feel that it is safe because my son gets paint chips on his hands, could eat them, and is tempted to peel off more paint from the toys as they chip. This toy made the kids laugh and squeal with delight. They made up games with it, took turns, and fought over who gets to push the lever. Great fun.

(Good overall) 『My kids (age 5, 3, 2) all love this although it keeps the attention of my youngest for the longest. The two cars it comes with are little, plastic, and lightweight. They fly down the track. Of our 20 or so metal diecast cars, we have ONE that is small and light enough to be equally as fast (I think it has a plastic body). Some of the others fit down the track but are slow because of their weight; still others are too long to make it down the tight spiral and get stuck. In theory it shouldn't matter if the track works with any other cars - except that we all know the two it comes with will someday be lost! It would just take a little hunting at Walmart or Target to find a small, lightweight replacement.』
(Still Loving It) 『My son got this toy for Christmas 2007, and now, coming up on another Christmas, he still loves it. It DOES work with other "matchbox" style cars, just not all of them.
